I had an excellent and exceptional experience with MRK Computer Services. I happened to pass them en route to a different computer place (I didn’t know I had a Mac repair shop right around the corner from my apartment), and I’m glad I did. I had damaged my iMac in an attempt to upgrade it with a new solid-​state drive. Marc was highly communicative, fast, and professional, and he didn’t condescend. The machine’s now working good as new. I’ve had many bad experiences with repair shops in my day — once I took in a PC, told the owner I thought I had a crashed hard drive, he then proceeded to tell me a day later that I had a crashed hard drive, and demanded 50+ bucks for no reason. This was the opposite of that, it was fairly priced and as pleasant an experience as possible. It’s really sad to realize that service like this is the EXCEPTION, not the norm. I will return here for any computer repair or upgrade needs and will recommend this company to anyone.

My review is a long time coming. I first went to MRK Computers at least two years ago, maybe even three, because my screen wasn’t coming up when I turned my computer on. I have a 2011 Macbooki Pro. Mark, the owner and best guy ever, loooked at it on the spot, moved a wire or something, and voila! Everything works! Mark didn’t even charge me anything! I left him a $ 5 or $ 10 tip (my tip amount also depends on how much money I have) becasue I was so grateful to have my machine working again (I’m a semi-​professional writer and video editor so my laptop is one of my most important tools).
Ever since, it doesn’t matter where I’m living: Harlem, Bed Stuy, Bushwick, etc. Damn, my computer had a minor problem while I was in LA and I decided to wait until I was back in Brooklyn to take it to Mark, because people, most «computer guys and girls have no idea what they are talking about. Oh, and this is good, While working at a bar, my computer was knocked off an empty keg and fell to the ground with the keg falling on top of it. My computer came on but the screen rolled and I could get a picture. It was also cracked a little at the top. This happened on a Ssaturday night and the next day, Sunday I was feeling a little desperate to have it fixed or at least diagnoised (Sunday is the only day MRK is closed) so I made the poor decision to take it to a different guy. I was living in Harlem/​Washington Heights at the time and this new guy charged me $ 200 (that I barely had-​I mean I made food in this bar for christ’s sake) and told me he replaced my screen. He said there was something wrong with my motherboard or wires or some other nonesense and returned my laptop to me with the screen still cracked and my harddrive now outside of my computer and connected through a series of complicated cords. It was absurd.
The next day, Monday, I took this crazy contraption to Mark and he reinserted my harddrive, fixed the wire thing and my computer turned back on like magic. Mark also told me that the new guy I’d gone to did not fix my screen for x, y, and z reasons (I am not a computer person, as I believe I’ve demonstarted in this emailo, which, is why people like Mark are my heros). I had paid the new guy via paypal and wrote him an email using Mark’s language, accusing him of lying to me and charging me for work he did not do. The next day, I had a full refund from the new/​shitty guy. Mark is the best in the business. You will not find a better person in business, and when it comes to computers, this is beyond invaluable.

Mark did a great job fixing an Internet connectivity issue. A very stubborn problem re-​emerged soon after the initial fix and Mark came back to get it fixed once and for all at no extra charge.

Mark? RULES!!! He’s really personable and I came in with some seriously dumb stuff. Like «make sure the computer is powered up» kinda stuff I’m not even kidding. Mark fixed it up in like 3.2 seconds. So then I happened to have another laptop I removed a virus from myself. Which, in case you’re wondering, I suck at. Anyway there were still a buncha things left over from that that I SHOULD have been smart enough to remove myself? But I wasn’t? So Mark fixed that too, all while I was standing there for abt 5 minutes (it took the computer like 4 minutes to boot so I guess he really did it in abt a minute). THEN? He DOESN’T WANNA CHARGE ME. So I literally had to force my money upon him. The thing is it might have only taken a few minutes to do but he spent a lifetime learning the skills it takes to do it in a couple minutes.
Thus guy is legit and he’s such a sweet person, I guarantee you will walk outta there feeling better than when you came in. PLUS… your computer will be fixed! What else do you want? Quick, break your computer so you can come in as soon as possible and experience the Awesome that is Mark. Or just give it to me and I’ll break it for you. Apparently, I’m good at that!

Hands down THE BEST CUSTOMER SERVICE I’ve ever experienced. I live nearby and have used MRK for printing and other office related needs. Recently I had a package held there from UPS only realize it was something I needed for a very important work event. Desperate to get it, on the one day in the week they were closed, I contacted their 24 hour emergency number. Not only did the owner Marc text me back within 20 minutes, he came and opened the store so I could retrieve my package. MARC IS MY HERO AND SAVED THE DAY! My work event went off without a hitch thanks to this stellar company. As a small business owner myself I can’t stop raving about them and sharing this story with my own employees as an example for us to go above and beyond for our customers.

I wish I could give more stars! I dropped my laptop and cracked the plastic by the charger port. Marc was able to fix it and have it back to me in 24 hrs. He is professional, straightforward, and he kept me updated on everything. He provided excellent, affordable service. Will definitely be going to him for any future computer problems. Great service, and very affordable. Unlike stores who try to rip you off, this place gives you great prices. The owner is very nice, smart, and humble. He really cares about his customers, and does his best to give you the best service. He text me to follow up with me and update me, which is very uncommon these day, and shows what a terrific business man he is, and how much he cares. If you need documents printer, scanned, computers fixed, this is your place. Thanks so much!

I had a great experience with mark. His work was quick and efficient. I was having trouble with my computer not responding to going to a black screen. Mark was able to figure out the problem and fix it in a matter of days. He also was great at communicating with updates in a timely manner. I would definitely recommend his services to anyone looking for computer repair.

I want to commend MRK Computer Services. Marc at MRK has fixed two of the PCs in my house. His work and prices are outstanding. I highly recommend his service to anyone who needs their computer worked on. I will be returning to his shop if there is anything I need.

I can’t say enough good things about Mark.
Background: After two years, my Lenovo suddenly stopped connecting to the internet. It had essentially become a brick with word processing capabilities. I spent two days trying to fix it on my own (reinstalling the drivers, resetting the router, buying a USB wifi adapter, etc.) but no luck.
Finally, I decided to bite the bullet and take the computer to an expert. While searching Unilocal for nearby computer repair services, I stumbled across Mark’s business and his glowing reviews. «Wow!» I thought. «I’ve never seen a five star business on Unilocal before!» Little did I know, Mark doesn’t deserve five stars… He deserves at least six or seven.
First, I went to Mark’s office in Crown Heights. Mark walked me through a diagnostic and the problem seemed to be fixed. He refused to charge me anything for that. I went home skipping, thinking the problem was gone, but alas, my computer still couldn’t connect to my home network for some reason. I called Mark, and he walked me through several other diagnostics (again for no charge), but no dice. I can’t emphasize enough that Mark tried his best to solve my problem for no charge, which pretty much no store of any kind in New York would do ever.
Trip to Mark’s office #2. Mark offered to replace my hard drive and completely reboot my computer, which was really the only option left. He did all of this in an hour and a half, late on a Friday night, for an extremely reasonable price. I took the computer back home and still, unfortunately, the problem was not fixed. After letting Mark know, he offered to stop by my house to check it out IN PERSON for no extra charge. This is clearly far above and beyond the call of duty.
Mysteriously, by the time Mark was heading over the next day, the network connection was working fine. Obviously, something he had done along the way worked. (Believe me — I had spent 16+ hours trying to fix it myself and made no progress.) Mark was very polite about showing up for now, basically no reason, and gave me instructions on how to call Lenovo to re-​register my OS. Bottom line is, the problem is solved, I’m very happy with my new hard drive, and my computer works like new… which I didn’t even think was possible.
I want to note that I’m not a computer person and Mark never condescended to or tried to upsell me. Instead, he explained every option step by step in layman’s terms and put me completely at ease. He was also able to juggle my frequent, distressed phone calls while working with other customers and maintaining an impressive Jedi-​like calm. The only mistake made during this whole process was that I didn’t go to Mark earlier. Mark was able to quickly guide me to the solution in one day and saved me the thousands of dollars that a new computer would cost. If I ever encounter computer problems in the future, I will go to Mark first, and I will be enthusiastically recommending his business to everyone I know.

So I trekked over from Manhattan to Brooklyn to bring in my Samsung laptop. Three days prior
my lap top had fallen off a table after my cat had brushed against it. The port where the charger is plugged into the computer was broken.
I had previously visited three computer shops with my laptop. Best Buy said it was probably the motorboard and that it would take 3 weeks to repair and cost $ 250.00 plus. Microcenter in
Paterson, NJ said it was the motorboard, it would take 3 weeks to repair at $ 400.00. A small
computer shop in Manhattan (with great reviews on Unilocal) said it was the motorboard and that it
would cost $ 300.00.
After describing the problem to Marc over the phone, he suggested that it might not be the
motorboard and that I should bring it in for an evaluation.
After I arrived at the shop, Marc disassembled my computer in front of me (which I thought was
fabulous) and showed me that the motorboard was intact. He said that he could repair the
computer in his shop in three hours for $ 150.00. Well, he repaired the computer in two hours.
Marc was professional, polite, well spoken. There are few if any shops that would repair an
item in such a short period of time at such a reasonable price. This shop is a gem, and it IS
Crown Heights best kept secret…
I will be writing an update in about a month, but so far my computer is working fine like it did
before. ..

I understand if you feel a little hopeless in looking for professional, trustworthy computers techs. in or near Crown Heights, Brooklyn. Having looked and tried several private operations over several years, the search has ended at MRK. Marc knows his profession, takes pride in his work, and is cucumber-​cool under seemingly any circumstance. He helped increased the quality and life of my aging laptop, saving me thousands. He will tell it like it is and help you find the solution you need without pushing or pandering his own agenda. His prices are great and his personal service is even better.

Marc is as straightforward and fair as they come. I came in hoping that all my files and music contained on my non-​working eight-​year old Macbook from eight years ago could be transferred to my current Macbook Air. He took care of it for me for while I waited, for an EXTREMELY reaonable price. He also scolded me slightly for NOT owning an external hard drive. I deserve that.
I am extremely grateful, and highly recommend that you seek him out for any and all IT services that you may require. Thanks again!

My Asus going laptop had a virus I was able to get rid of but it destroyed my windows registry. My laptop was not functioning normally. I brought it to Marc and he said he could fix it. However my CD/​DVD drive had not worked in a year so Marc could not just pop in my windows disk to reinstall it. He gave me a list of 3 items I had to buy in order to get my laptop working again & to keep my game files.
I emailed Marc with URL links to the parts. He answered my emails very promptly and pointed me in right direction. After getting a bigger hard drive, hard drive caddy & a new CD/​DVD drive, I made another appointment with Marc. He was able to fix my laptop, and restore all of my games & personal files.
I recommend everyone go to Marc for all of their computer issues. He is knowledgeable, friendly, patient and always willing to help in anyway he can. It was very easy to get to Marc’s shop from the train.

My son spilled water onto my laptop keyboard and I thought that was it. (lil did I know) Well to make a long story short I stumbled upon Mark and he fixed my laptop within days and at a reasonable price. Nice atmosphere, very professional and smooth service. I would not go anywhere else from now on. 5 stars! Wish I could give more.

I am an animator and I needed to build a custom PC tower but I have no experience putting computers together. Found myself in a pickle when the original PC builder I hired had to bail on me and left me with a pile of parts and an empty case. I found MRK online and brought the whole mess in to Mark, he was extremely helpful getting it sorted and assembled in a flash. My new PC is running like a dream. Mark is not only knowledgeable but his customer service is impeccable. MRK will be my go to for all computer repairs from here on out.

The young man Mark, is quite cognizant of the inner workings of the computer which made me quite comfortable when resolving my issue with my Sony Vaio (bad port inside speakers). Very patient and fair with clients. Called, came in left my baby came back by 7:30 and everything was resolved with a smile. After a long day walking into his business hearing some good olé Al Green «How too mend a broken heart» was the topping and cherry on that cupcake!! lol!!!

Marc is legit. A true professional, a sweetheart and knows his ‘ish. I called him today to let him know that I would bring my mini Acer that had dropped on the floor and all of sudden, couldn’t download Adobe products (yes, seriously). My mouse pad also wasn’t working either, too. It was a few problems that left me scratching my head. He told me he was running a bit late and was very nice to call me back to let me know he got to the shop (I like that!). I got there around noon, he looked at my computer and said he can fix it in a couple of hours. I was in the movies and yes, he was done after a few hours. Got back to his shop at 7:00pm and he explained everything was fixed. He takes credit cards so I whipped out my CC, spoke for a few more minutes and told him that I will bring my 17-​inch Acer laptop to him; half the keyboard doesn’t work.
I got home and he told me I forgot my charger, lol. Will pick it up on Monday! Thanks Marc, :-)

et’s just say the service was so good here that it was nothing short of a tech miracle. I am beyond pleased with the service I received for my MacBook Pro. Mark’s prices are very reasonable, and thanks to him and his team, I can use my laptop again after many months of a non functioning screen. I had taken it to a few other techs from reputable places and some others (including the genius bar) were given the problem verbally, no one else could crack the case. I left amazed!

I have a very heavy Mac Tower plus a 23″ screen to go with it… so the real reason I intially went to this place was because it was right around the corner AND the reveiws are very positive about this place. So i gave it a try and I was not dissappointed at all!
I do have to say that this place was great, very professional and fast. The same day I dropped it off, same day I had received answer to the issue and a solution. The price was sooooo reasonable that I actually asked «are you sure thats it»!!!lolol
If I have any other issues I will definitely go there first. Honestly if your in or near the Crown Heights area and you computer starts acting up call MRK Computer Services first before some expensive Geek Squad or Cyber Nerds!!!
