Cheap, cheap, cheap. Especially the lunch specials and most of the chef special rolls. I’ve never tried the Thai dishes here, but maybe I will in the future, given the quality of the food for the price among the Japanese dishes. The only real letdowns were the negimaki which… is surprisingly easy to mess up if you over cook the beef, and the yakitori, which as another reviewer intimated, didn’t seem grilled, exactly. I don’t come here often, as I don’t live in Brooklyn, but my friends in the area always rope me into heading here when I meet with them, and if standards and prices stay the same, I won’t complain. Sidenote, this place is also known as Tenda Asian. Haha, yeah, that’s a pretty crap name.

I went there with a friend who loves this place. Decent food. I recommend the fried calamari(served on a small salad) and pad thai.

What I really love about Mikado apart from pretty good food is their private room which is perfect for a small family gathering. We had about 12 people for a family birthday, and it was just perfect, considering that one of the attendands was a 6 months old baby-he had plenty of space to fit his stroller, extra table to be used as a changing station(don’t worry, I have a pad, so there is no trace of baby food on any of the Mikado tables :-). Certainly, made our celebration painless.

Clean and comfortable place to be at but the food is just ok. My friends told me that this place just opened last year so everything in here looks new. We ordered a few rolls, a yellowtail neck(Hamachi Kama), chicken yakitori, and a seaweed salad. The chicken yakitori was a disappointment to me because it didn’t look or tasted grilled. Nothing unique about the rolls we ordered. Seaweed salad tasted like any other seaweed salad served in all Japanese restaurants so it was alright. We liked the yellow tail neck the most so that was the first dish we finished. I don’t live close to here so I don’t know when I will come back. If you want to find a place to talk and reasonable sushi price then you should consider coming here. This place is on the same block as Bally’s so maybe stop by to check it out.
