CONS: The pictures online don’t match the actual place. We stayed at the avenue H location even though we believe we booked at the 15th St location. There is no staff, no housekeeping(even though there’s an envelope for a tip), staff doesn’t answer the phone when you call(goes to voice mail and calls weren’t returned), no amenities, no washcloths, the bed was horribly uncomfortable, cigarette burns in our blanket, strings of dust hanging from the ceiling, floors/carpets are stained. If you forget your key(you only get one, so don’t go your separate ways, guys) you’re in trouble! If you want the air-conditioning on at night you have the have the blinds open, they’re the sliding style. Parking is on the street. There is no way for them to guarantee your parking if you pay for it. PROS: location is a 5 minute walk from the Q line that you can take all the way to coney island and Manhattan. Safe neighborhood. Laundry service two doors away(if you need that). Secure building. Coffee and food is close. Bed sheets and towels were clean. Did a search and found no bugs! Good for the price, but, next time I’ll pay a pinch more and be comfortable!

I stayed at the location on Avenue H. My room was a «standard suite». Being an NYC native, I could appreciate how close the location is to the Q train, which is about a block & a half away. Immediately after you step off the train, there’s a bodega directly across that unfortunately isn’t 24hr, but adds to the value of proximity as it’s within walking distance if you find yourself craving a great sandwich or some snacks. Beside the bodega is a 24hr laundromat. We’ll revisit this in a second… The check-in instructions were clear as there is no onsite front desk. Some people who require a lot of attention may not like this, but it was fine for me as I rarely ever need to call the attendants. As you walk up the short flight of stairs, you start to feel as if you’re in a rental property, but for the most part, the other guests were fairly quiet. My room looked exactly as it did in the photos & was very clean. I was actually surprised at how clean it was. The bed was comfortable, although lower than standard hotel beds(heads up for anyone who may have trouble getting in & out), however the frame was solid & the sheets/pillowcases were exceptionally clean. This could be due to the laundromat/dry cleaner service a block away. The shower setup was nice even though the bathroom was a bit small. This is the only reason I didn’t give it 5 stars. I’ve lived in a railroad apartment with a larger bathroom. Also the iron & board are located in the hallway. They’re easy to miss if you’re not an attentive person. Someone left their fruit cups in the mini fridge, but other than that, it, along with the microwave were a nice addition. One attendant I spoke to was rude but helped me change my original confirmation due to an incident that kept me from staying two nights. I spoke to another to inquire about staying one night instead of the required two as they were booked full except the extra day I wanted. She apologized profusely & explained that management wouldn’t just let me stay for one night & it was out of her hands. I will definitely stay here again. I came across this little gem accidentally & am glad I decided to give it a shot. For the price, you can’t go wrong.

Prices in Manhattan are at outrageous level these days so I was looking for a convenient alternative and found this great little hotel/apartment place. We reserved a «Family Suite» that included two bedroom(one fully enclosed and one adjacent to the lounge/dining room) for $ 185 per night including taxes. We took the optional $ 10 per night for a parking spot right in front. The hotel is one short block away to the Subway that brings you straight to Manhattan(but you’ll have to factor almost an hour to get to your destination). The Brooklyn neighborhood is very nice and with a good choice of restaurant and well worth exploring. Here you’ll feel closer to a New Yorkers life than if you stay in a big tourist hotel in Manhattan. The Midwood Suites also give you free breakfast voucher that you can redeem at a good neighborhood bagel shop that totally worths the trip! All in all, an excellent choice and an excellent value for a more authentic New York City experience!
