Simply put, Julian has the ability to capture special moments like no other. We first worked with Julian when he captured our engagement at Ithaca College. I coordinated with him to travel to Ithaca and he figured out the rest, hiding in the bushes to get the perfect shots as I proposed to my wife in the spot where we first met. Priceless pictures that we hold very close to our heart.
He did such an amazing job that there was no question we would be bringing him along to photograph our destination wedding in Turks and Caicos. He photographed our welcome party, snorkeling excursion, rehearsal dinner, wedding ceremony and reception, taking literally thousands of high quality pictures. He has a way that makes guests feel so comfortable, never intruding to get a good shot — it just comes so naturally to him. From our engagement photos to our wedding, Julian and his team provided top rate service with a down to earth sensibility. Our guests raved about all the wonderful wedding photos. In fact we are having the hardest time narrowing it down! Can one have a wedding album with a 1200+ pictures?!?
We love that they just blended in, never blocking our guests view, hate when the photog and cameramen do that, but they still managed captured amazing moments.

I could talk about Julian’s amazing talent and the way he captures the once in a lifetime moments at your wedding that happen far too quickly and you hope to never forget. If you are fortunate enough to have Julian as your wedding photographer, you don’t have to worry: he will capture all of them.
I could talk about his ability to work a room with ease, adorable swag (I had too– if you know him you will understand!), and sincerity. I don’t think there was one person who I spoke to in regard to the wedding that did not bring up Julian (or Jules as my Mom likes to call him) and say how amazing he was– and this was before they even saw his work!
I could talk about the response you will get when your loved ones see his pictures. They are VIBRANT and beautiful! They took my husband and I right back to that night and all its excitement. It was his work that initially drew us to him before we hired him and in that area he did not disappoint: he truly exceeded our expectations. He blew us ALL away!
I could easily talk about what a professional and sweet presence he was from the minute he arrived. I think any bride can relate to the desire of wanting a photographer that is not only supremely talented, but hopefully warm and excited about your event. Julian felt like an old friend who was truly happy to be a part of our day. That extra touch that I didn’t expect actually made my wedding even more amazing.

Julian’s been crushing the photo world since our days back in Mr. Stallings’s class (negatory… tourist photo…). He’s got a great eye for photography and great ability to get people in the right pose for that perfect shot.

It is pretty incredible to watch art be created from images of your greatest memories. That was our experience with Mackler Studios. They did our engagement photos and are definitely going to be shooting our wedding. We were nervous walking into the shoot because we are not models and have no experience being photographed. Julian was super pro, relaxed, and quickly made us realize we had nothing to be nervous about. It was easy to be ourselves and we were AMAZED at the results. Couldn’t even believe it was us. It’s hard to put into words how inspired, how deft, how thoughtful Julian’s photography is.
At our wedding, he was — by far — the hardest working person in the room. Our families and friends loved him; he remembers names, he’s great at wrangling when it comes to posed shots, he’s simply the best when it comes to getting those sweet, secret, photojournalistic candids. When the photos came in — sooner than we expected — my husband and I (and everyone who shared in the day with us) were blown away. Thrilled. Verklempt. It was like living out our wedding all over again, as seen from every angle. The talent and taste levels at Mackler Studios are as sublime as it gets.

We had both our engagement and wedding photos done by Julian and there was never a question that we chose the right guy for the job. We had him come for the whole weekend to our wedding and he really spent the time to get to know people and make friends with family and guests, and it was clear when we got the final photos back that EVERYONE got very comfortable in front of his lens. And because he was there for more than just the one day we were able to get shots that were truly unique and not just the standard wedding checklist. That said, he didn’t miss a thing when it came to getting all the traditional shots and he even went above and beyond and documented things that we barely had a moment to notice or had forgotten altogether with the blur of the day. He captured so much emotion and movement and somehow managed to be in 10 places at once. We had a very unique country wedding and he really went nuts showcasing the things that made the day truly ours.
I remember very vividly the day we discovered that he had posted our photos on Facebook. We were on our honeymoon in rural Nepal and we sat near a shaky wifi hotspot for over an hour watching them load very, very slowly and with each one our eyes got bigger and bigger. They were stunning and we loved every one of them. And of course, within hours almost everyone who had been to our wedding who was also on Facebook was «liking» Mackler Studios and making his work their profile photos and many of them still use them nearly 2 years later. To this day we get tons of compliments on his work.
As an aside, I happen to also have had the pleasure of attending the same photography program at Ithaca College with Julian and I can tell you that from day one it was clear that he was going to be one of the few to make it. And 8 years later Julian is the ONLY one I know who has managed to create such a huge name and reputation for himself and his crew (in NYC no less), and it comes as no surprise. A real diamond in the rough.
