Kling Dermatology – Dr. Alan Kling, M.D.

Dr. Kling has been very helpful and patient with my ongoing dermatological condition. He has worked with me over 5 years and is always informed about the latest research and studies and is also just an interesting person to chat with. The front office staff is very professional and efficient and calls if there is ever an issue with insurance, an appointment time, etc. I highly recommend them. And they take my insurance so can’t beat that!

When I showed up for my appointment I was told the physician assistant (doctor only works one day a week here) was sick and had called out. They receptionist wasn’t sure when the replacement would arrive. «At least an hour»
AVOID. AVOID. AVOID

This was a very frustrating experience. I had to wait an hour to see him. Then I presented him with two interrelated issues. He hurriedly explained what he thought they were and wrote a prescription. When I started to bring up a third issue, he said «I usually only handle two issues per visit, if you want to schedule another appointment, we can talk about the third.»
At this point, he’d been in the room two minutes. I told him he could handle this now and it would only take a second. He quickly gave me his diagnosis and wrote another prescription.
I got the sense he knows what he’s talking about, but to give me so little time, and to tell someone who’s waited an hour, and who you’ve talked to for two minutes, to schedule another appointment, because you «typically only handle two issues per visit» have me looking for another dermatologist.

Dr. Kling worked wonders — he has helped resolve an issue that other dermatologists have not been able to fix. He is always on time and professional. Highly recommended.

I made an appointment with Dr kling and never met him. Both times I went I saw assistants who never bothered to introduce themselves. The second time I was shocked to see someone new again, and this time he kept complaining he was hungry. He clearly rushed and because of this didn’t pay attention when I stated I have a penicillin allergy. He prescribed me something with penicillin that the pharmacy luckily red-​flagged.

I went to an appointment today at 9 am. The staff was attentive and nice. The wait time wasn’t long (30 minutes or so including paper work) I didn’t see Dr. Kling, but Dr. Lenelle; she was great! She kindly prescribed some new topicals and refilled my older prescriptions. The only «issue» and it is a big one for why I will not be returning here, is that they do not administer or prescribe biologic drugs such as Stelara, Embrel or Humira at this office. I have seen so much clearance of my psoriasis from taking Stelara that I do not want to go back to using topicals alone; I did consider doing so briefly since I really liked my experience. I really wish I could continue going here, the location was so convenient for me (I walk, but the 2, 3, B and Q are so close by)! If I ever decide to stray from biologics, I would definitely return back to this office!

Thorough, but expensive! The doc really seems to know his stuff, and is Very personable, as compared with a lot of doctors. Nice neighborhood. Does cosmetic procedures as well.

I waited over an hour in the waiting room but they did say their computers were down so it was causing them to run slower. The exam was fine, I saw the NP. I got what I needed and was out in 3 minutes once she saw me. Hopefully next time I wont need to wait as long.

This is a very well run office, I was in and out in less then an hour, the waiting room is fine and filled with enough magazines for any taste, although I was called so quickly there was no time to read. I then saw Lenelle Jerome N.P. who was just great, very easy to talk to and very bright. I strongly recommend her and from what I read everyone else in the office. Also a very friendly staff!

I’ve been seeing Dr. Kling for over two years, originally in his Upper East Side office and now in Park Slope. He takes my insurance and for the one time I had an issue with coverage from my insurance, he wrote a 3 page letter that thoroughly explained the situation and then my insurance covered me again. He is a true expert in his field and takes time to explain issues with good candor and sensitivity.

NY’s best dermatologist ! Dr keling has helped my mother get rid of her pigmentation and has been very patient with her Best service Great doctor. Great staff !

If I had to choose 6 stars I would !! I have been going to MANY dermatologist and then I came across this one !! May god bless Dr. Keling !! He has transformed my skin into beautiful flawless acne free within a week. This DOC is beyond amazing !! knows exactly what his doing. . And on top it all has great staff !!!

I scheduled an appointment early in the morning such that there would not be a many people before me and I still waited for over 45 minutes to see the doctor (actually he wasn’t a doctor but maybe a physical assistant or some other certified personnel). Mine was an easy case so he just prescribed me ointment. When I asked follow up questions, he wasn’t very interested in provide me full information but was just trying to give quick answers to get rid of me so that I would come back in another three weeks. I was pretty disappointed by the attitude

I have been a patient of Dr. Alan Kling for many years… Until last summer (summer 2014)!!! I have a cyst on my back that Dr. Kling had been aware of for some time prior to last summer. I was informed by Dr. Kling to just leave the cysts alone because it might just go away or not grow more. I followed all of his instructions and needless to say the cyst became huge and very infected last summer. Dr. Kling put me on antibiotics and scheduled my surgery for about a week later in his Manhattan office (I usually saw him in his Park Slope office but the Manhattan office is where her does surgical procedures). A few days into taking the antibiotics my cyst grew very painful, extremely large, hot to the touch, etc. I phoned the Park Slope office (I live in walking distance to this office) and told his staff everything that was going on. I offered to walk in and wait because I was in so much pain. I reminded them that I was scheduled for surgery in a few days and that Dr. Kling had informed me that the infection had to be cleared in order for the cyst on my back to be successfully removed. I begged them to let me come in because I just knew something was very wrong. They insisted that I not come in! They insisted that I just show up at the manhattan office for my scheduled surgery date.
On the date of my scheduled surgery I did show up to the Manhattan office, was told to pay my co-​pay first, immediately was taken in to see the Dr. as schudeled, he took one look at my cyst and exclaimed «it’s huge it’s 100% bigger than it was when we scheduled this appointment. I can’t do anything for you in this facility. I have to send you to another Dr.»
I was completely floored to say the least! I could not believe what he was telling me! I reminded him that I was proactive and phoned his Park Slope office days ago and told them that something was not right with my cyst. They simply blew me off. Well so did Dr. Kling on this day. Within 5 mins. of my appointment time he escorted me back up to the front office informed his front desk staff to find another Dr. for me to go to and poof he was off to the next patient! I could not believe it!!! My infection had gotten 100% worse and he just blew it off. His front office scheduled me to see another Dr. and in the mean time prescribed a different antibiotic for me to take. After the long train ride back to Brooklyn I wrote Dr. Kling an email that I still have detailing my disappointment in him, his practice, and how his office failed me as a patient. To make things even worse, the original Dr. who they ended up referring me to (since Kling had allowed my cyst to become so much more infected) was on vacation. I called prior to my appointment to confirm and the office had no record of my appointment and mentioned that the Dr. was out of town on vacation. I had to call Dr. Kling’s Manhattan office to tell them this. They were in such a rush to get me out of there that day because Dr. Kling messed up so badly that they did not even schedule my appointment properly!
MY ADVICE FROM PERSONAL PAINFUL EXPERIENCE: Please do not go to Dr. Kling’s office to be treated. I still have all of the emails that he sent me in response to this situation as proof of my experience with him. I am still dealing with this cyst to date and finally decided to share my horrible experience in hopes that it will spare someone else the pain that I experienced due to Dr. Kling and his office.

Dr. Kling is a terrific doctor. He has taken care of my skin issues quickly and expertly each time that I have visited him. His staff is very friendly and wait times are not long at all. Dr. Kling is not one of these doctors who whisks in and out; instead he takes alot of time to explain the procedure. Really first rate from start to finish.

I was a patient for over 10 years, for eczema and routine skin cancer checks. Five months ago i caught ringworm, the size of a nickel on my arm. After diligently following the regiment of creams prescribed, it continued to grow and spread to a 9inch diameter. I returned to the office every two weeks questioning why it wasn’t getting better. My skin was biopsied & I was put on pills twice, & needed a liver function test from the pills. I finally asked to see a different doctor in his practice & she told me to throw away the creams because the steroid was the cause of it spreading! I met with Dr Kling and he was dismissive to my concern about the mistreatment. I finally went to a new dermatologist and in a week the ringworm is gone completely.

I found Dr. Kling on ZocDoc (great app for the iPhone, if you don’t have it!:)) and went to him because he was close to my house, open on the weekends and took my insurance.
After my first visit there, I decided I needed one more trip back to really take care of the issue, so I booked another one for 3 weeks later and, after that visit, was completely free of all past problems!
The best part, though, was how they dealt with the billing. Being that I’m (apparently) a bit naïve when it comes to medical billing, I thought the fact that they accepted my insurance meant that I would only have to pay my normal $ 25 copay but BOY was I wrong… as I wasn’t referred to Dr. Kling by a doctor, but rather went at my own behest, I was charged for the entirety of both visits – amounting to over $ 1000 in lab expenses, procedures, etc.
Not one to discount the power of good people, I called to explain my situation (I’m a bit new to the medical billing thing; I wasn’t aware that I’d be charged for all of those procedures; I’m a teacher in the neighborhood) and, amazingly enough Sarita – the woman in charge of billing – and Dr. Kling were able to make some adjustments and cut my bill down IMMENSELY! No specific numbers needed, but let’s just say that they both completely made my day.
All in all, I was super satisfied with their clean offices, polite hostesses, knowledgeable doctors and PAs and generous good will. 5 stars to Dr. Kling!

Before scheduling an appointment at Dr. Alan King’s office, I saw a Dermatologist who, after finding out that I worked in technology, asked me for more help with his computer than he gave me assistance with my skin condition! For that reason, I made sure to do my research this time and I’m so glad that I did. The wait time at Dr. King’s office is short and the patient care is unparalleled. Nicholas Solarino is seriously one of the smartest and kindest doctors I’ve had the pleasure of seeing. He worked with me to prescribe the perfect regimen and I haven’t felt or looked this good in years!

Dr. Kling is «in network» with my insurance and close by.
My first clue should have been that I could get an appointment almost immediately. The next day was pretty much empty from the avails.
When I walked in the first thing I noticed was the pungent aroma of a strong smelling pasta dish. When I got to the front desk — there it was — a couple of piles of penne pasta in front of the receptionists/​nurses.
Really gross.
People are getting their warts burned off feet from their marinara! Do they not get a lunch break? Gross. Gross. Gross.
And yes I was the only patient there. I’ll try the next «in network» dermatologist next time.

I’ve had dry skin since my late 20s, and my right hand gets especially red and irritated in the winter. I had seen a dermatologist in Philly and another in Boston, and both prescribed me a cream that did nothing.
Nick at Kling Dermatology, however, took his time examining me and prescribed a different treatment that worked like a charm. For the first time in years, my hand is back to normal and I’m so grateful! I went in anxious and left happy and satisfied.
