I just got my hair dyed to color «rose gold». It looks incredible. Jason and his staff spent almost 6hours just to ensure the result. It was a great experience and I have a complete makeover. Thanks to Jason and his team. Definitely pick him as my eternal hair stylist!

I had an early morning event to attend and needed my hair done ASAP. I was in a rush that morning and everything was going wrong. When I told my stylist that I needed to leave shortly, he asked another staff to help with blow drying my hair to speed up the process. They really provided great service in a short time.

Today I came in expecting to get my awfully dyed reddish brown hair back into a grey ombré. I had done a bit of research prior to coming and after seeing some photos of Jason’s work on his Instagram, I immediately had to have him help me fix my wreckage. It took a couple bleaches and a couple dyes in order to return my hair back to black and add in some grey. The overall result was fabulous, from the colorist who’s name is Maggie, I believe. Both Maggie and Jason were kind enough not to rush my hair even though it took over 5 hours and I had to stay after closing hours. Highly recommend this place for future hair coloring or cutting!

Five stars all the way! Service is absolutely phenomenon. The staffs are super nice and professional. I usually don’t write Unilocal reviews but their services and skills were over the charts! They truly look out for the damages in your hair. I came in wanting to go lighter and get a digital perm but they advised me against it, because of the potential damage it would do to my hair at its current stage. Despite refusing my unprofessional request they were able to still achieve the color I desired with regards to the damage of my current hair. I came in looking for a new change, but I came out finding a life long hairstylist.

Wanted to make this place my permanent to go hair salon. I really liked the haircut from Ivan. Long to short. But I asked if I was unsatisfied with the length how much it would cost. He said it would be free of charge. I went back a few days later having the knowledge of getting free redo. I go there and they tell me it would be $ 15 instead on $ 25(original price). I told them that the guy promised a free redo. But the guy said his boss doesn’t approve of the free cut. Insist $ 15. I left immediately. So pissed.

Your experience at this salon depends on which stylist you ask for. My sis and I went in one day at maybe 5:30, and ended up leaving at 11pm. On the one hand, both our stylists stayed late to finish our hair transformation, which was very nice. However, it took that long because we were waiting on hair rollers and the perm machine from the other. I wish they would have warned us, I could have waited for next time.
My sister went from long to short and had a perm. Her stylist did a great job getting her hair to look like the pic she liked. I also showed a pic, and while my stylist told me that look was unachievable w. a perm, i didn’t expect the results to stray so far from the pic I showed him. So now, I just tie my hair up all the time. I think it will look less «see lai» in 3 months after it’s grown out. In conclusion, be careful which stylist you ask for.

This place is excellent! Pretty clean and big. The customer service is good, price is reasonable, the hair stylist is professional. I spent almost 6 hours to do my hair, the result is better than what I was expected. I would recommend this place to my friend.

After Unilocaling for places to do my hair because my dad decided that it was too ugly since it was turning green I decided to come here after seeing the Unilocal result. The girl who washed my hair was so nice to me and she was very thorough about taking the colors off my scalp and skin. The girl who was doing my hair spent such a long time and noticed every detail of my hair which I loved. They answered so many of my questions since I really didn’t want my hair to come out to the way it was before and I really appreciated what they told me.
I would definitely come again for a touch up

My first haircut there and in Brooklyn ever, I usually go to Manhattan, checked out this place due to their Unilocal reviews. Jason seems to be the stylist here, I asked for him and explained to me what I wanted. He listened and made a suggestion. Overall, I’m happy with the result for the price but because there 3 diff people that touches your hair, tips ended up steeper than I had hoped. Will go back again if I’m around the area.

It’s okay :) I don’t do hair very often, this place seems busy I came here because of Unilocal review. Too many people help me do my hair haha cuz my hair is long and they are busy too. I dye my hair and the color came out very natural, at least I’m satisfied.

I traveled 65 minutes from midtown to Brooklyn. And don’t even get me started with the trek back home.
All in all it was worth the time!
As soon as I stepped inside I was greeted by the owner. I had my mind set on blonde but after seeing other pictures here I knew I had to try something new. I found a similar hue of silver/​gray that was absolutely divine! I let the colorist know that this was the ideal color. She advised me that it won’t stay for long and will fade to a light brown, which was okay with me.
I knew that my hair was deep black so naturally we had to do a double process to achieve the perfect color. The colorist assured me that it would be done and that I won’t be left with that abhorrent orange tint haha. Four hours later I was done. Despite closing shop two hours later than anticipated they made sure I was a happy customer. And that I am!
I’m happy to say that I’ve found my new colorist in Sunset Park. J1 is worth the travel and worth every penny. The pictures here on Unilocal speak for themselves!
Take the plunge, I know I’m happy I did :)

The space is bright and clean and stylist Jason is very professional. I went for hair straightening. The result turns nature look after two days. Happy for this visit.

I came here to get my hair dyed Balayage. When I first entered the salon, I was skeptical if the stylist could execute what I wanted. Compared to the other salons that I was looking at on Unilocal,this is one of the cheapest but to my surprise, I am actually proud that I chose this place. The staffs are knowledgable and the pricing is affordable. I would totally recommend this place to others.

First of all, staffs at J1 are super friendly. My friend recommended this place and the stylist/​owner Jason did a very nice job with cut and color. He knows how to make each client look their best by bringing out their unique features according to their face shape. He focuses on details and takes time to create the perfect finish look. Giving this place 5 Stars for sure!!! I will be returning for future haircuts! Definitely recommend J1 for everyone~~~

Decided to give this salon a try after seeing all the good reviews and recommendation from my friend. And after my visit, I can say that I was very pleased with my results. Jason took his time when cutting my hair to fulfill my expectations and gave me honest suggestions whenever necessary. Will definitely be returning in the future.

I have been struggling to find a good hair stylist after getting many many terrible hair cuts. I was afraid to get it cut again but it had to be fixed. Jason cut my hair this past weekend and he did an amazing job. He didn’t rush at all and was very focused and precise. He also made sure that I was happy with it and did exactly what I asked for. Very friendly staff and amazing hair wash. Lasted probably around 10 min! Definitely will be going back to Jason.

If I could give Jason 6 stars, I would.
I am so paranoid about getting my hair cut. I would never trust anybody else to touch my hair besides Jason.
We know each other I think more than 8 years, so you know within all 8 years, only him touching my hair!
Super patient and knowledgeable about hairstyles and what suits you best.
His cut and color were all executed with the utmost care and artistic expertise. it took me over a decade, but I finally found my forever colorists.
All in all, i would definitely go back for all my future haircuts!

This store is highly recommend in this area aren’t likely other salon. The stylist RAY is very profession works in this dusty for over 14 years. Like the style he made it for me

Such a great place! I have been looking for a great stylist for a long time and finally found one. My friend and I came here on a Sunday evening, the staffs were really friendly, they spoke Mandarine, Cantonese and English which was great! My friend and I came a little late, yet they still stayed open for us. LOL
I love the décor, black and white, super chic and clean!
I think they opened a month ago. The stylist (Jason) has been working with different salons for years. My friend got her hair colored and it looked amazing ! They started this new hair treatment that I never heard of, it’s from Japan, so today I decided I really need a treatment for my hair after coloring it so many times, the result? AMAZING.
Parking can be a little tricky around this neighborhood. I rather take public transportation or the Brooklyn van!
Price was fair, it’s the same around 8^th ave. For sure coming back and I am going to bring my friends here too. LOL share the good findings.
