I liked this place better when it was called Jade Seafood Palace. Now its over hyped and over rated. You looking for average dim sum at an average price with below average service? Here it is. Well atleast they got a small parking lot and televisions in the main room. Nothing here really stands out except the small counter where they sell butchered bbq meats and hot milk tea… which only comes in one size. That being said, good place for early Sunday football games.

This was my first dimsum place that I visited about 10 years ago when the family went out. And the second time visiting was last month. Yep, this place food is definitely different from the others on 8th ave area. It’s like they say, the oldest establishment is always the one you go back to. They are the only one that I know of that has this fried leek dumpling dish where is delicious. I believe this place is the one with the most various of dishes. The only bad thing is the location is a bit far from the usual«8th ave» but it good if you have a car, but good luck with parking.

Went here for a wedding. We had to wait three hours for any spec of food to arrive. I kept asking waiters when we’d be served, but no one knew. Once it finally came, it was just inedible. There’s also no bathroom in the party section, which doesn’t even make sense. Very disappointed with the lack of hospitality here.

We had Mother’s Day dinner here today. The food was just ok, if I have other choices, I will not coming here again. It’s over priced for the food quality they provided. However the services was good and attentive.

We had a family dinner family style with like 9 different dishes. It was very yummy. The dinner was as expected. I’m not sure what the price was cuz I didn’t pay, but I think it was reasonable price. Taste was as expected – good.

I’ve been here a ton because my parents love this place… though I think that speaks more to their love of routine rather than the quality of Golden Imperial Palace. Pretty standard Cantonese fare with fine service. Portions are large so meant to be shared among big parties. Fresh dim sum that’s pretty good. Other made to order dishes are fine but haven’t really been blown away by any dish in particular. Large space with high ceilings. Ample parking in their lot or on nearby streets. Less chaotic than the places on 8th ave, but I’d say on par with what they have to offer.

If I can give this place no stars, I would give it no stars. We were here for a birthday dinner where we ordered from a set menu. We were given one of the private rooms upstairs. We turned on the AC to cool down the stuffy room and the air that was circulating was all cigarette smoke from a previous party. It was so disgusting and we had to turn off the AC and sit in the stuffy room with the doors open. We wanted privacy, but since we had to leave the doors open, we didn’t get any privacy. I hope the health department sees this review and does surprise checks on this restaurant. They allow smoking in the rooms here which shouldn’t be tolerated. I can imagine how hot this room would be in the summer since the AC would be needed. It’s either you choose to breathe in second hand smoke or sit in a hot room. Our set menu was extremely disappointing. It came with 9 dishes. 3 of the 9 dishes used the same exact ingredients, just cooked differently. I was extremely disappointed we were paying for something like this. The ingredients did not taste good. It was a mix of vegetables, mushrooms and protein. This was a rip off. We got a Lobster Yee Meen and that was disappointing as well. There was hardly any noodles and the lobster was old. It was very rubbery and no taste. If you can avoid doing the set menus here, I would, especially if it’s in one of the private rooms.

Good for dim sum. If you don’t want to make it all the way to Flushing, they’re a great option. Not life-altering in the overall quality, but no complaints either.

My first time been there. There’s food so terrible. Chowmein is so bad taste. And prices higher than other restaurants. The service also no good at all.

I had chinese new year dinner in there last night. The service was good, but food… bad, I cannot help but to write a review to let people know my experience. The seafood soup taste like water, with no favor and was cold. It cost $ 40 something. The size of food is smaller than regular time. Also, for the lobster noodle, the noodle was in small chunk, less than average 2 inches. The noodle not supposed to be that short and good that this dinner wasn’t for an elder’s birthday because long noodle means long life, I am not sure how the grandparents would react to super short noodles. So don’t go there for birthday or Chinese new year. I think their kitchen was overwhelmed. Pay about 450 for 8 people. We will not go back.

I would not recommend this place. Went for Dim sum and found the restaurant dirty, and not well maintained. The dim sum lacked any flavor. And not very appealing. The wait staff were attentive and friendly. But the cashier had a nasty attitude. This was my second and last time coming here. The food at Seafood Palace is much better. Don’t waste your time coming here.

I am surprised how good the reviews here are, or maybe I just came on a bad day. I am here, currently in the restaurant still, as I am writing this review. I have eaten my fair share of Asian restaurants(practically every single one in the Flushing area), so I think it’s fair for me to say that this place sucks. I arrived here, Christmas Eve, for my grandmother’s birthday– due to a family friends’ suggestion. The parking lot was packed with cars, but when we went into the restaurant, the first floor was completely empty. Apparently everyone was on the second floor using the VIP rooms or something. As you can see from my photos, my family ordered quite a wide range of dishes. None of them were spectacular, mediocre at most. The two things I really want to point out: When they cut the peking duck for our buns. THEREWERENOMEATINTHEIRCUTS! Practically only cut off skin. made for a really bad sandwich! &(2), their fried milky buns were TASTELESS and not sweet ATALL. Extremely disappointed. Two stars solely for a clean, big location. Even the bathrooms are very well kept, so good job on that. 15 minutes later — Served us raw pork chops. We sent it back to the kitchen to have it cook it more thoroughly, the waiter was upset.

I’m a regular of this dim sum place because it has free parking and it’s not too far from my house. This last time that I went was the only blip in service that I’ve had, but you’ll now know for next time: do NOT sit upstairs. We usually sit downstairs in the large, well-decorated banquet hall, but after waiting for over 20 minutes, the host asked if we wanted to sit upstairs. «It’s the same food and everything,» he said. Well … yes, same food, but totally different ambiance and service. The second floor looks like the restaurant forgot to finish renovating it, and there are far fewer dim sum carts pushed around. They ended up giving us a checklist of dim sum things that we could order, but we didn’t even get half the food. Thankfully, we had ordered too much and we were too full(and they only charge for what they give you), but Port L. was super annoyed that he waited forever for his dan tat. He went downstairs to grab some. Other than that, though, service is generally pretty good because the dim sum carts get pushed around and everything is fresh. I love the shumai, steamed rice rolls, stuffed eggplant and all beancurd-wrapped things here. They also offer warm durian rolls, yum!

Attended a wedding banquet for between 100 — 120 people. The parking lot was crowded and there was no on-street parking. I noticed my vehicle was being shuffled around the small parking lot all evening. The bride and groom had an open bar which consisted of two girls, a folding table, a stack of plastic cups, and a very limited selection of alcohol, champagne and beer. The courses of food kept coming throughout the night almost nonstop and ended with shark fin soup and cake. The DJ played some romantic songs but because we were seated in front of the speakers and could not converse with people even at our own table. The restaurant is a bit outdated and is in dire need of new décor, lighting, tables and chairs. The restaurant is more a dim sum place than a wedding banquet hall. All in all everyone seemed to have a good evening.

Eating at Golden Imperial Palace was a memorable experience. The restaurant is a huge banquet hall. In fact, on the Saturday night we were there, a wedding was taking place, which was a lot of fun for us to watch. The tables are big and round and most people dining there were in large groups although we were just a party of two. That definitely limited our options on the menu as most of the dishes are massive and meant to be shared family style. I can’t wait to come back with a bigger group and try some of their interesting sounding soups and abalone dishes. It was fun reading the menu, too(dishes range from typical Cantonese chicken, duck, pork, tofu etc to more unusual items like frog, sea cucumber, jellyfish head, and shark fin soup — although we weren’t brave enough to try any of it). Two of us shared some soup dumplings(4 pieces in an order even though menu says 6…$ 6) and one large dish of lobster in garlic scallion sauce served over crispy fried noodles($ 26). This lobster wasn’t on the menu but I had seen it on Unilocal so we asked the waiter and he knew what I was talking about. It was a huge portion and absolutely delicious, with a whole lobster cut into pieces and fried in a fantastic sticky sauce over a ginormous nest of noodles. For two of us, I’m very glad we shared this because it was more than enough. They also bring hot tea, pickled vegetables and boiled peanuts for the table. Service was fine and the atmosphere is fun. Prices were reasonable for the amount of food.

Been coming here for years either for dim sum or dinner. Compared to other places around the area, this place is our go to for family gatherings. The dim sum food comes fresh. The wait time can take awhile for dimsum as for any other dimsum places but that’s just how it is. The place is pretty big so it should go quickly. I think dinner food is about the same as any other chinese restuarant, but still good.

Came here twice for dim sum and twice for dinner. Typical Chinese place where the food is average, where they have all the staple dishes offered elsewhere and service is below average, not because the lack of staffing but the indifference attitude. Location-wise, if you want a less noisy dim sum place, this might be the place for you. They have their own parking/lot valet where you can drop off your car and they’ll take care of things for you for $ 2. Street parking isn’t difficult because it’s in a more residential area. Food is ok. For dim sum, it lacked consistency for me. Some dishes were hot and fresh from the kitchen, while others definitely sat on the steam cart a little too long. None of the special dishes that cost more were worth trying in my opinion. Dinner was ok. Granted both times I went with a table of 12 – 15 people, which meant large orders. However, Chinese restaurants aren’t like Western restaurants where the food comes out all at once. Usually dishes are served as they are made. That being said, I felt like their kitchen might be either inefficient or short because both times it took a really long time for the dishes to be made, despite the fact that the restaurant wasn’t full. Taste-wise, it was ok. Nothing special or memorable. Serving staff isn’t the greatest but that takes off the burden of tipping generously in my book. All in all, an adequate place for gathering but not really a top choice. Oh and $ 20 minimum for credit cards!

Terrible service. My family came here for dinner at 7:45 and ordered food within a few minutes. 45 minutes later, we do not have any food coming out from the kitchen. While the waiters try to help by giving you things such as peanuts or left over chicken feet to snack on, the service here is abysmal. We shouldn’t be waiting 45 minutes for 1 out of 6 dishes to come out.

My family comes here a lot for dinner. What’s neat is they have private rooms upstairs for 2 or more tables(10 people each) that come with a karaōke system that has Chinese and a good variety of English songs. We usually do the multiple course meal. Food taste, presentation and service are pretty good. Our room even had its own restroom. Unlike most Western places, they do not charge for cake cutting, corkage and they let you decorate as you wish.

Went to this place for dimsum the other day with my sister and her husband and my two nieces.(Who would say no to free food?!) It was pretty empty for 10AM, but this place is out of the way as well, it is closer to residential areas than it is to 8ave where there are more restaurants. We ordered at least 10 plates, the typical — spare ribs, beef tripe, shumai, chicken feet(i got 3 dishes of these, sooooooooooo good!!), egg custard(my niece really wanted these), steamed shrimp rolls, etc. It was a very filling experience, my brother-in-law in regarded this place as cheap, he paid about 55 $?(I think). Service was typical for a Chinese place, they don’t communicate, we were asked 3 times what kind of tea we wanted. Though there was that mishap, they were attentive when you needed them. The ladies pushing around the cart for the food were so adorable! They always stopped by and asked if we had enough food and needed anything else. All in all, will definitely return to this place if I have the $$ because for a broke college student, this place is not cheap, or y’know if someone offers to pay the bill.

My earlier review was for dim sum here. My current review is for dinner service. I’m convinced this place has good food but bad service. Tonight there were only 3 tables for dinner… One of the table being ours. There were more than 3 wait staff on the floor aka more than 1 waiter per table. But that didn’t translate to anymore attention. In fact we got less attention than normal. Maybe each staff pushed off responsibility to others because there were so many of them. We had a very good beef dish, noodle dish and seafood taro nest. The Shanghai mini pork buns were gross. Over seasoned with ginger. I’ll stick to Joe Shanghai for my mini pork buns. Never coming back again. Call me pampered but I’d rather pay more at East Harbor for the better service. I gave a 25% tip at Imperial just because I’m nice and I was with my parents. Doesn’t mean the staff deserved it.
