Elite Event at The Woods

God damn. It’s been a while since I’d been to an Elite event like this — by which I mean consuming mostly bacon, seeing tons of old Unilocal friends, and somehow being sh*tfaced at the end of the night. So much fun. I also can’t remember the last time I went to The Woods and wasn’t creeped on, so wins all around.
Let’s talk Landhaus. Woah. I actually texted through greasy, sticky fingers ‘I think I just ate the best bacon I’ve ever had in my life, so I’m not that sorry about missing the concert’. While the BLTs kind of became a mess, they were the most glorious mess ever. I’m not too proud to admit that I had some of the picked over bread a few drinks later. Then, the maple bacon?! Holy crap. Let’s also talk about the Bacon Man and how gracious he was in the face of hundreds of bacon-​crazed drunks. Dude, you ruled.
The rest of the event… The drinks were delish and strong, and plentiful. I’m a huge Tito’s fan already, and was totally into both the lemonade & the Mule. I had enough of them that I had no qualms about eating random sandwich pieces, as confessed. The vibe was great, the people were fantastic, and I couldn’t have had more fun laughing with new & old Unilocal friends.

Though my review is late, you should not take it out on the woods.
You will love the woods. They have bacon.
They also have a cool staff, liquor, a spacious outdoor area, a nice sized indoor area, and bacon.
Did I mention that they have bacon? Because the truth is, this place is great, and they have bacon.
While I was there, I was eating bacon.
They had bacon sandwiches, bacon on a stick, and bacon.
The best part about the Woods was the bacon.
You should go to the Woods for the bacon.
If you go to the Woods, have the bacon.

What a fantastic way to celebrate the first warm evening of the season: bacon, booze, outdoor patio, and lots and lots of friends.
In fact, lots and lots of bacon! The bacon was so flavorful. Flavorful? FlavorFUN! The Landhaus BLT was just amazing to see in all its glorious 36 feet as it was to eat. This was an absolutely spectacular sandwich by all means. And just as flavorFUN was the bacon on a stick. The Landhaus Mint Lemonadeended up being the perfect companion for this warm evening.
For an incredible series of astral convergences, many Unilocal friends I had yet to meet in person congregated at The Woods, including Nadia, Diana, Karen, and Sophie. That made the evening the all more fun.

I am a Brooklyn gal and think all things Brooklyn are awesome! Hence, why I think the Woods is awesome. So my review is based on this «everything in Brooklyn is awesome mentality» and on some other things. They have a massive bar, the space is airy and not cramped at all, they carry Tito’s vodka, and best of all, outdoor seating. When I say outdoor seating, I don’t mean a small little area with tables crammed in. I mean, actual outdoor seating. You could get up and walk around, not worrying that your butt will bump into someone’s head every step of the way. I’m already imagining many summer afternoons, chilling in the backyard of the Woods, and drinking a cold one. I can’t wait for this weather to stabilize!
The food was, meh. I mean the passed bacon and the bacon sandwiches were efffing amazing, but that is ALL they had. They could have passed a few more items so we could really get a sense of the offerings, but honestly, I did not care. I enjoyed the outdoor space, the people and the amazing (free) drinks. Bartenders were friendly and worked quickly.
p. s. The bathroom vandalism in the bathroom made me chuckle. Someone managed to turn «hands» into «anus» so that the sign read «Employees Must Wash Anus.» Classic.

Oh Unilocal,you never really disappoint and Peter D. did it again — though I loved seeing Jando S. as soon as I walked in — Queens pride right here! ;-D
My fellow Unilocal Elite, Ingrid S. and I got there about 5 miutes to 7 and there was a line but it wasn’t too bad — then the line got super long behind us. Whoa. I hate lines. Needless to say, I was really happy we got there when we did.
A few minutes in as we were right about to get inside my guest and Ingrid’s guest arrived and we let them join us on the line — the bouncer wasn’t pleased, but being our guests and not on the Unilocal Elite list how else were they going to get in? The gal with the clip board got it done — +1 Unilocal lady, –1 grouchy bouncer dude with his grouchy pants on :).
Once inside we headed straight to the back. I had been here about 2 or 3 times already and it’s always been in the night time on a weekend when it’s super crowded and this place becomes similar to that Christina Aguilera video (XXX-​tina?!) for «Dirty» — you know, the one where men and women are all dancing, sweaty and grinding up on each other — yeah… that’s what weekends are like here except people are generally less physically fit and we’re all grinding up on each other to like The Strokes or Band of Horses… tis’ Brooklyn after all and not just Brooklyn — but Willysburg :).
Initially I was all sad that the Mexican family who used to run the truck outside was gone. Their tacos and burritos were seriously BANGIN’, but Landhaus — OH MANZZZZZ. We were greeted by 2 loooooooong sandwiches, neatly cut and each piece held together by a brave toothpick. To be honest I’m not sure if each sandwich was different or not since I took two pieces from the same one… but HOLY SMOKES THICK CUT BACON CRUNCY PORK GOODNESS!
I’m not even a huuuuuuuuge bacon lover, but Landhaus can easily take about 5 years off my life should I return here (which I more than likely will). Their bacon was juicy, tender and everything thick amazing and properly cured pig meat should be!
The bread was also amazing, fluffy and with a delicious outer part and the mayo was different… homemade possibly? Frankly it was delicious. I was go happy my guest at one point simply wanted the bread and I put the delicious bacon that she didn’t want out of it’s misery… by inhaling it. Mmmmm.
…and then the bacon on a stick drizzled with real Maple syrup?! ORGASMIC. BACONGASMIC. Fo’ serious.
Cocktails were also amazing and I love how the bartenders (Shout out to Blakey Poo and Harper!) didn’t skimp on any ingredients. I already loved Titos Handmade Vodka thanks to an intro to it from my guest about 2 years ago — so I was already excited, but when vodka is present (and complimentary) the sky is generally the limit.
For this event they went with Lemonade Mint Cocktails and Moscow Mules. MOSCOW MULES. I’m generally a sucker for anything with ginger beer so I drank about a bajillion of those and 1 Lemonade Mint one. It wasn’t bad, but it reminded me of a Lemon Coughdrop, tasty but not my thing — Moscow Mules for life :).
This was a great night and a great event! I loved talking to new people, bonding with my friends and getting to try food from a place I had never experienced. Could have done without people getting all weird with me and my girls, but I guess we should be flattered right? Right :-/​.

I have yet to put a dent on my Unilocal Spring Break reviews, but let me take a break from New Orleans to give BK some love.
I didn’t sign up for the event, but when +1’s fall through, I got the call from a fellow Elite to join the festivities. Yes, we broke the rules: I’m an Elite who was another Elite’s +1. (Sorry Peter. Thank you for having me.)
Venue:
Great indoor and outdoor spaces with ample seating. The indoor space had super high ceilings so it was never stuffy, no matter how many of us packed it in around the bar.
Bar:
Two drink specials; one made with mint lemonade and with ginger, both delish! Yup, I got a lil’ whoa!
Food:
I got in early enough to see the tables lined with chunky-​pork-​fat subs. I was in Heaven! I grabbed a couple. Then as more of us tore the sandwiches apart, I swung by a few times to snatch up the pork fat that got left behind. Don’t judge me. I just can’t see such happiness go to waste.
Event:
Much bigger than I thought it would be. The photo Peter D. posted looked like a cozy lil’ backdoor area… but that’s just half of the actual outdoor space. Unilocalers filled every seat and the standing room space around each seat. Not crazy crowded though. Comfy. Lotsa smiles, lotsa hugs, lotsa laughter, lotsa fun!

First Elite Event in Brooklyn, EVER… I’m glad to have been admitted and I brought a +1 for sure. Thanks Peter D. Wow, this was a really fun time. Set in The Woods of Williamsburg gathered about at least 100ish Unilocalers in a pretty huge indoor bar space with a corner stage. There is a really sweet outdoor backyard with several picnic tables and booths fashioned with wooden benches and plantlife that offered semi-​private seating.
There was Bacon a-​plenty. I think they got a pig pen out back and a mini-​slaughterhouse somewhere to serve up that much super deelish Fatty Smoky BACON! There was a big spread of bacon BLT hoagies over 2 aisles of seating. There were servers working the space with cutting boards full of maple bacon skewers. The most BACON I’ve personally experienced at any YEE or in my life.
They served up 2 drinks, both equally tasty mixed with Tito’s Handmade Vodka. The Moscow Mule had ginger beer in it garnished with lime which was super refreshing and paired well with the BACON. Second up was the Landhaus Mint Lemonade that had their signature lemonade as the mixer. Bartenders were super friendly and chill and the tips were flowing. Unilocalers were making it rain!
Big shout to the Unilocal CMs, if it wasn’t for you people and Unilocal, all of these YEEs would not be in existence:

5 F*CKING STARS!!! If you give this event less than that. I don’t trust your reviews. I would think that you don’t like being social, hate BACON and rather be knitting mini sweaters at home for your 17 cats.
I’ve been going to The Woods for awhile now. It was good to actually see it in the daytime. (that’s a first!) It’s like seeing your random hook up the morning after. After all the booze has cleared your system, you put your contacts in and say, «so… this is what you really look like.» The woods hasn’t changed at all. It’s still very chill and the food in the back is awesome!
If you were able to get there early. You would have seen the massive BLT subs that were on the tables. I wanted to take one and lift it up to recreate the movie poster from «Heavyweights». All that thick cut bacon was delicious. I wasn’t sure what to expect if this would feed everyone who was coming. Since I heard that the line went down the block. I knew this would be a good event.
This event was like a «Yelp Reunion». I kept on seeing my fellow Elites that I haven’t seen in over a year. One after another they kept on coming in. So this was a very fun event, being reunited with old FRIENDS, BOOZE and BACON! I would give everyone a shout out, but I might max out the characters on this review. You all know who you are. I did see a lot of Newbies. It comes to show that Unilocal is growing and expanding. Lots of new faces that I haven’t seen before (I have been to plenty…)
I want to thank the awesome, Peter D for throwing another amazing event (second best so far, Sweet Chick is still número uno!) The Woods for always being welcoming and awesome. Lastly Landhaus for all the delicious food. You guys never let me down!

Never forget your first… Especially if it’s at The Woods and 100+ Unilocalers are there. Yes, this was my first ever Elite event.
Line was out if the door, not kidding, to the end of the block! Red Unilocal sunglasses were a style-​setter for this summer. Checking-​in at first event — priceless!
Meeting all Unilocal personalities face to face — absolute blast. They all are just as charming and fun as they are in Unilocal world! Karen, Matteo, Michael, Mitch and all new Unilocal friends I met.
The Woods is the the coolest place to hang out, seriously — I was sold with huge backyard, exposed brick walls and lit-​up star. Add full bar with smooth as life Tito vodka drinks (Moscow mule — could not resist a sip, and was heartbroken I could not do 5 more because I was driving), Bacon sandwiches & Maple Bacon appetizers (mind you, none of that supermarket stuff, this is REAL slab bacon I am talking about) — all of that sums up to incredible evening at incredible place. I will be coming back for drinks and more bacon, since I work near by.

A few things to know about this location
1) I can sell/​buy scrap metal while enjoying a cool beverage at the same time
2) The Woods is probably a play on how people can often get lost in this area. I know I did.
3) How there is no name tag that says «The Woods» to let customers know that this is indeed the place to drink. There is a mini fox on top of the door though…
I had a blast. Shouts to Peter for having me.
It is always great seeing some familiar CMs such as Jando and YoSteph.
It is always AWESOME getting free drinks.
A) Moscow Mule — tasted amazing.
B) Landhaus Mint Lemonade — tasted like it could have used more lemonade.
BUT the girl bartender I kept going to had good form when making these drinks (I was definitely watching her… pours).
It is always AWESOME to get free food.
A) The sandwich, you just had to be there. It was VERY good, the meat. The bread was mighty hard. I think I might have chipped a tooth. Just kidding. Maybe…
B) Bacon bits? Bacon on a stick? I have no clue what the technical name was for that appetizer but it was NOM NOM good.
LANDHAUS apparently has a kitchen in the backyard area which is more true to the name «The Woods».
I should have bought some of those infamous tacos that they were serving that night but I think I made a good choice in just grabbing some Chicken and Waffles afterwards at another spot.
I will come back to try their tacos though.
It is always FUN to party with Unilocalers whether it be Elites or their plus ones.
It is always FUN to come home with a bunch of other Unilocaler’s name tag on you. It is like Mardi Gras with them beads except you don’t end up looking like the guy that everyone put shaving cream on while you were asleep.
I’m sure plenty folks on the subway was thinking that.

The spacious bar area and grandiose patio at The Woods drew Unilocalers from near and far. I could hardly turn my head without overhearing something from a Queens or Manhattan Unilocaler who was excited to join us Brooklyn Elite (really, the best elite) at this fantastic event. After a series of more intimate BK events, it was nice to change things up by having a big olé summer bash. Somehow the weather cooperated with us and it was cool and dark in the bar and warm and breezy out on the patio. Pair that beautiful break of weather with two table-​length sandwiches and Tito’s handmade vodka and you’ve got a great summer bash on your hands!
Tito’s makes a great drink, and the Moscow Mule and spiked lemonade the bartenders were mixing up were totally on point. And the bacon from Landhaus? Let me just say that I do not think I’ve seen a more impressive BLT in all my days! Really glad Unilocal brought us out to this spot, somehow tucked away despite being so large, on the waterfront. It definitely feels like the perfect summer destination bar and I’m looking forward to visiting again. High five Peter!

This was by far the best Unilocal Elite event I’ve ever been to. I had been to the Woods before, and it’s such a fun venue, with indoor and outdoor space. I ended up staying later than the event just because I was having so much fun.
The Food: They had huge BLT subs, which I missed by arriving late. However, I am not above picking at scraps, so I was able to fuse a make-​shift BLT of my own. The bread was fresh, the thick cut bacon was incredible, and even the mayonnaise was delicious. There were also ample thick cut bacon skewers making the rounds. The skewers were spiced so well, and had a sweet honey drizzle on top, so it was a nice salty-​sweet combo.
The Dranks: I stuck to my Tito’s minty lemonades all night. After a typical northeastern summer day with 90% humidity, this was my refreshing salvation.
The Prizes: Made it in time to snag some fun red Unilocal sunglasses. If I’m back in Williamsburg for some day drinking any time soon, you can bet your sweet ass I will be bringing these as my hipster-​friendly accessory. There were also poncho’s, which Jando S. assured me were in fact Unilocal-​Superman capes.

Was great to be outside on this beautiful night, plenty of tables, HUGE foot long BLT sandwiches (hard to approximate, they were ginormous. do they MAKE 20 foot long sandwiches???)
It was a little bit of bacon heaven up in here.
The spot was a little hidden, semi hard to find if you get thrown off by the Williamsburg bridge being smack in the middle.
The staff were really cool, friendly and generous.

Good Food + Good Drinks + Good People = Unilocal
Loved the location, the woods is bigger than I had anticipated, the woods venue has a rustic feel to it, the décor goes very well with the location, which is literally under the Williamsburg bridge.
The Backyard at the woods is immense, very comfortable and plenty of fresh air.
The drinks were very interesting and delicious, the handmade vodka had a handmade taste to it lol (seriously).
The bartenders and staff at the woods kicked ass, they were super quick and friendly.
I particularly enjoyed seeing all my Unilocal Peeps which I haven’t seen in a few months.
Big shout to Peter D, Jando, and Steph for always showing love.
I enjoyed The woods so much that we even stayed a few hours after the event was over, I couldn’t pass up the lovely warm night and warm breeze in a super cool backyard with good friends and good drinks + we ordered lots food from their menu, which was yummy (they have really good hot dogs BTW)
I will definitely return to the woods again…

Bacon Orgy! The «BACON GODS & GODESSES» from Landhaus landed in the back of «The Woods» by divine intervention in Brooklyn and we were there. Great roadhouse atmosphere of «The Woods» bar and some killer Tito’s Lemonade helped get the party started.
Last night was too much fun and the perfect night for a backyard event. The backyard is off the chain, big and beautiful and we had a blue sky to boot.
The bacon… oh the bacon… Huge Bacon BLT HERO– Brooklyn-​style! .The bacon was simply orgasmic and I will go out on a limb and say that was the best Bacon/​BLT EVER! The tomatoes were marinated and salted and great quality and there was MEGA BACON FLAVOR!
My buds Diana T. & Nafessa made the night kick-​ass in the beautiful borough of «Brooklynland.» Magnificent event Peter D. and Jando– Thank you guys!
P. S. The mushshroom sandwich with cheese & arugula, which I ordered to go and heated it up in my toaster oven the next day for lunch was a slammin’ sandwich– delish!

I was going to give this 4 stars, but the event was pretty fantastic. I’m mostly waking up with a wicked hangover at work and I’m super super angry at the Unilocaler that decided to grab my phone and rearrange all of my icons to the point where I didn’t even know how to set my alarm to wake up this morning. That person deserves to die and go to ‘yelp hell’. He also decided to oddly follow us after the event last night and I felt incredibly uncomfortable. Good gravy. Done with that little aside.
I was just saying literally a week ago how much I love Moscow Mules. They are delicious. The Lemonade tasted like a Ricola Lemon flavored cough drop. It wasn’t my thing. The thick cut bacon was delicious. I heard someone complaining that there wasn’t enough food. There was enough food, fatty. That slab of sandwich was more than I ate in the past two and a half days put together and it was delicious.
There were a couple odd moments. One of which the people next to us got so irrationally pissed off that my friend dropped her glass of Moscow mule on the floor that she got up huffed and glared at us and left the bar. My friend wasn’t drunk.. . yet, and she apologized profusely but that didn’t seem to be enough. It was very bizarre behavior. And then of course I’m still socially inept, shy, retarded and when trying and wanting to talk I come up with «I’m carrying three drinks». «I’m carrying a watermelon». Drops the watermelon.
Note, I just realized after the fact that I said delicious about 80 times in this review. Bacon. Pork. Delicious.

Holy shmoly bacon on a stick galore. I never had so much bacon before. An event filled with fun people, great drinks, and good bacon equate to a great time at the Elite Event at The Woods (also, my first YEE in Brooklyn). Thanks Unilocal,Peter D., and The Woods for hosting/​organizing a super cool event for a nice, warm Tuesday evening. I just love coming out to Brooklyn, and I’ve actually been wanting to check out The Woods after hearing about it from friends. Definitely having their famed pickle juice the next time, and of course, some of those Moscow Mules.
Speaking of those Moscow Mules, it was a drink that definitely kept me sociable throughout the night. Whatever was in them added to a strong but very flavorful and delightful cocktail which somewhat reminded me of a Mojito sans mint. The Lemonade was a teensy more strong, a super spiked lemonade, but still a very enjoyable concoction. Of course, I was able to sample a few pieces of thick cut bacon on a stick that they kept bringing out on a platter. Also, there was several feet long worth of pork sandwiches laid out on the tables for grabs. There was certainly more than enough food to go around, and one cannot complain.
I must note that the overall space of The Woods is wonderful and the perfect venue for a well-​sized event. Both the inside and outside is very spacious, and while there were many attendees, it never got cramped and crowded. The décor is appealing, modern, and sophisticated. It’s to the caliber of being a great venue for special events like this one. The backyard space in the back is pretty huge and has a lot of picnic tables and bench seating. The trees and hanging lights are a nice touch and provides a very inviting outdoor oasis when you need to step out for fresh air.
In closing, thanks to also the Jersey and Queens community managers who were also present. Shout out to Steph Y. and Jando S.; it was awesome seeing/​meeting. Thanks Peter D. for extending the invite. You’ll definitely see me making my way into Brooklyn more often.

BACON! BACON! BACON!
Holy good lord there was no much bacon at this event I felt like I’d died and gone to Heaven! So glad I arrived right at 7pm, met Pete D, Jando, and Stephanie at the door, picked up my Unilocal swag (some chic sunglasses) grabbed a Tito’s Vodka lemonade and made my way to the outside back patio dining area to be greeted by —
MEGA GIANT ASS BACON HEROS THE LENGTH OF THE WHOLE DAMN PICNIC TABLES!!!
I was shedding tears of joy! What’s this? Even more bacon being served on skewers? Thick slabs of MAPLE CURED BACON! Now I was totally bawling in happiness!
IT WAS BACONGASM!!!
Peter D did not really tell us this was a BACON EVENT!!! I am now in meat love with him. Unilocal hooked us up here and if you were some of the lucky ones to arrive within the first 45 minutes of so you were able to feast on all the bacon treats before the hoards arrived and wiped it all out. I feel bad for those who got there late but the early bird gets the BACON!
The Woods does it right. This is a great spot, large inside area, a super friendly staff and bartenders, and a terrific backyard to chill out at. I even checked out the decent beer list and most were in the $ 5-​$ 6 range. It was so easy to get a drink here as the bartenders slung them out easily — Moscow Mules and Vodka Lemonades. I am a fan of Tito’s Handmade Vodka and these packed a nice punch. The crowd was awesome here too as it was a large gathering of new Elites, plus one’s, and many older Unilocaler friends of many I have and have not seen in ages. Probably the most fun crowd at an event I have attended in a while. I even met some new people who were pretty nice and outgoing. Way too many people here to mention by name so I’ll just say HOWDY to all of you!
After all the BACON hero slices and MAPLE BACON pieces I feasted on I was in a BACON coma the rest of the night, but kept washing it all down with plenty of booze afterwards! A big BACON thanks to Peter D and the Unilocal crew for throwing such a terrific event! The summer like weather and sunny skies were perfect for this event and location. The Woods staff kicked ass and could not have been friendlier. Must check this place out during a summer weekend.
Oh, did I mention there was a lot of BACON here?

Pig. Lots of pig. Pig everywhere. Tons and tons of pigs. I don’t know if I’ve ever seen so many pigs. They also served some great bacon based food as well. Joking aside (C’mon I’m the biggest pig of them all) this was a wonderfully planned event.
I got here about 20 minutes late and there is a line? Seriously!!! I can’t stand lines. They are the bane of my existence. It’s a growing up in New York thing. The second I got in I decided to get my drink on. I was basically double fisting the rest of the evening. I had both the lemonade and the Moscow mule. I’m a sucker for things with ginger beer, thus the Moscow mule was what I stuck with for the rest of the night. I came by the bar often dropping lots of Washingtons.
I’ve been to the Woods before and always liked the venue. Knew it would be great for a Unilocal event due to the size of the dance floor space and the large space outside. If you ever come back here, know they have an amazing selection of beer and it’s a place you can get your dance on.
The bacon on skewers was fantastic. Those were some diesel sized pieces of bacon, super tasty, tons of deliciousness and probably took a month off of my life for each one I ate. (It was worth it, I’m not looking towards being 90) The giant hero was dwindling down when I got outside so I made sure to jump on it immediately. Great BLT. Loved every bite. One of my favorite things to do towards the end of the night was to sit by the remains of the BLT hero and wait to see someone walk by, pondering if they should eat some of the scraps. Some people thought wisely and passed. However the drunk ones jumped right on it, caught ya!
What do I enjoy the most about Unilocal events? Is it the food? The booze? Those are two of my favorite things in the world. Maybe 2 and 3 on the list. But as in life, it’s all about the people. So many people showed up and it was great to see everyone. Had a great time talking it up with everyone. I even got a plus 2 essentially because another Unilocal elite invited one of my friends. They were impressed… duh. It’s a Brooklyn Unilocal event. Booze, food and friends, that’s all I need. I was sexually harassed several times during the event. I was definitely groped on several occasions. I’ll let it slide!
Great job by the staff of The Woods. Fantastic job by all the Unilocal staff there, especially his Grace Peter D. Awesome work guys!

BA-​CON! BA-​CON! BA-​CON!
We seriously should’ve started chanting and pounding our fists on the picnic tables in delight. One star for every ounce of delicious fatty smoky bacon I consumed. And then I ran out of stars.
It takes alot to get me out of Hoboken where I’m within stumbling distance of great food and drink, but I’m glad I ventured into uncharted territory and tried out «The Woods.» After the 2 hour public transit odyssey from Hoboken I desperately needed a drink and the lemonade hit the spot. I ventured into the charming back porch area with my +1 and chatted with some old friends and met some new ones. Also picked up some Unilocal lip balm to add to my Unilocal accessories collection.
