Gross gross gross. Wanted to like this place after reading the first review :( Can’t speak to the in-person experience, but I ordered nachos for delivery and they came with completely congealed cheese and both raw and burnt tortilla chips — not sure how that happens. My friend had the veggie chimichanga and it was absolutely disgusting; tortilla soaked in oil and soggy, broccoli and carrots and chunks of garlic for the«veggies.» Not good, guys. And nothing on the menu actually comes with guacamole ‚(The worst part of this dining experience! There are way better places in Bwick, go elsewhere.

Don’t judge a book by its cover, goes the saying. In Bushwick, that also goes for local, independently owned eateries. While El Castillo may not look like much of a culinary powerhouse, it offers a pleasant surprise of serving up some of the most wonderful Mexican fare in a neighborhood with no shortage of options. The fact that you can get cheap tacos that’ll knock your socks off just a stone’s throw from the subway is yet another plus. Hurry up and check it out before the neighborhood completely succumbs to gentrification!
