Dorothy + Martha’s team is awesome — my move was so easy and seamless this past weekend! Really loved the experience!!!

Moving is always stressful, even if you are moving across the hall, but my move involved crossing state lines (UWS in NYC to the DMV area with a staircase at each). D+M made the entire process as smooth and painless as possible, and is by far one of the fastest and most efficient moving jobs I’ve ever seen. Justin and Jessica were very quick over email confirming the details and customer friendly. After giving a description of what needed moving, I was sent a flat rate (very reasonable, especially compared to other companies), which also included the transportation and tolls. The day of movers had an arrival window of 8a-​9a and were on site and ready to disassemble and load my stuff by 8:30a. Both guys were kind, efficient, and communicative. I didn’t have a ton of belongings, (not quite Spartan conditions but more than I would’ve managed with a friend or two and a van), and two pieces of furniture to disassemble. Within less than an hour, the furniture was disassembled, wrapped, loaded, along with everything else, and the truck was ready to depart. They were quick on delivery to my new abode, and just as fast and friendly during the unloading. I would definitely recommend using D+M, and use them again myself.

Our daughter is a student in Manhattan and she has moved three times in one year. We have used Dorothy and Martha Moving each and every time. We would never use anyone else! They are so professional, always on time, always exceed our expectations. The only moving Co. for us!

I just moved from Crown Heights to Bushwick and the move went as smoothly as possible. The movers showed up ON TIME (which never happens) and they were very friendly and professional. Overall, the move itself was very quick and easy and I would definitely recommend!

These guys were fantastic.
I was moving from Astoria to Washington Heights which was a bit of a trek. Justin and Mike did a FANTASTIC job disassembling furniture, moving furniture, making sure anything that could break was secure or padded. Fantastic. They assembled the furniture back together which was awesome!
They were running a little behind schedule because of traffic; however, it was really nice to have received a phone call with an estimated time of arrival.
Really great guys. If I ever move again, I’ll be giving you guys a call!

I was disappointed after reading the rave reviews here on Unilocal,and the initial email exchanges with Justin. We moved in mid-​September, and I was out of town on the day we needed to do the bulk of moving, so my boyfriend was here to handle, which is why we hired a moving company in the first place. They arrived late due to traffic (and perhaps a lack of planning) and were not able to make it in time for our allotted elevator reservation in either the building we were moving from or were moving to. The crew did not have the tools to disassemble the bed, charged us for it, and did not put it back together properly, so we paid $ 100+ for nothing. Our desk showed up cracked and some small pieces to shelves were also missing. To top it off, they left a quarter jammed in the door of the new apartment to hold it open and we could not get it out easily. We thought it was strange that they left the door open when they left, but didn’t think much of it. Following this theme, we returned to the other building for a final check and they left the door open to our apartment. It was made clear that my boyfriend would need to leave the one apartment to go and open the other. It was left completely open overnight and only discovered once we went back. The team was nice, which is why they get an extra star, but overall the experience was subpar.

I used D+M to move from Murray Hill, NYC to the West Village (5^th floor walk up) — they were fantastic, everything arrived as it was and they managed to get all my stuff up those miserable stairs. They were true to price and lovely to spend the day with!
I would definitely recommend them and use them again.

This is the first moving company I’ve ever used and it had definitely exceeded my expectations. I knew this company felt right from the beginning. Justin was on top of emailing me back immediately with quotes and answers for any questions I had. They had shown up exactly on time and were pretty flexible with my work hours. Their prices are great, attitude is genuine, and they seem to have no problem with moving furniture out of the smallest corners possible. I would definitely recommend Dorothy and Martha Moving and Art Handling to anyone looking to make their move easier.

Affordable, lightning fast, kind and respectful. I’d recommend them to anyone! Update: I have recommended them to anyone, including my friends. And they had nothing but the most glowing thankful praise.

This is the first time I actually used a moving company to move. I was always a Uhaul, do it yourself kind of guy. Let me tell you, those days are in the past. Justin and his crew were outstanding. They arrived right on time, loaded the truck in less than 2 hours and unloaded even faster. I was under the impression that moving would take all day. They arrived at 9 am and were done before 130 pm. (Brooklyn to Long Island) Not only was the service great the price was almost half of their competitors. I used thumbtack to find a mover and I received 5 quotes. Dorothy and Martha destroyed the competition with their competitive price. I am not looking to move again anytime soon, however my mother in law is and Justin and his crew will definitely be hearing from me again.

Justin and his partner were great. They moved me quickly and carefully without any complaints (I moved from a 5^th floor walk-​up to a 3^rd). Their rate was as quoted which I was happy with, and the paperwork was painless. I bugged Justin a lot by phone and email beforehand, and he was quick to respond and always very polite.
I am only deducting a star because they were really late. Other than that, I was very happy with the service and will recommend to my friends.

Cant say enough about Justin and the crew at Dorothy and Martha. He was super professional and nice on the phone, answered all my questions and showed up early for the move. My company had organized a bike tour event and needed bikes delivered one-​way from the Bronx to Brooklyn. The price was very competitive and the service was great! Will definitely use again in the future.

Absolutely the best moving experience I’ve had– not just in NYC but in the three other states I’ve lived in as well. Justin and his team arrived right on time and after a quick survey of our items, began moving us out of our 2 story apartment at lightening speed. We moved from Bushwick to Greenpoint, had a bunch of annoying small boxes and ikea bags along with a ton of large rubbermaid containers and several pieces of large furniture, went down 2 flights and up 3 flights, and my boyfriend and I helped very little as we were dealing with a very moody French Bulldog… Yet D+M had us set up in our new apartment in less than 2 hours.
Not only that, but they had fantastic attitudes and were smiling and laughing with us the whole time, which really helped turn a stressful situation into a breeze.
Highly recommended!

Justin and his team were amazing! They moved us out of a 3^rd floor apartment and into a 4^th floor walk up (with VERY steep stairs). They were fast yet made sure our furniture was not being damaged. I highly recommend this moving company, as they are not only great movers but also great people!

Dorothy & Martha Moving moved us down 2 flights and up another 2 into our place in Brooklyn. Later, as we were settling in, they did 2 moved an arm chair from the Upper East Side and a couch from Park Slope to our place, doing the 2 pickups and then dropping off at our place. We can’t recommend them highly enough. They are great people and excellent movers.
