There is a large selection of shoes and boots here. The price is similar to what you would find online from the manufacturer. Some employees seemed nice, however, after trying on 3 different pairs/​sizes of boots, the person helping me looked like she just wanted me out. I began to feel like I was annoying her. Nevertheless, I bought a nice pair of waterproof northface boots!

Totally ripped off at this location!
I’ve been looking to buy a pair of Red Wing boots for some time. Decided to get them at DNA because I like the idea of supporting local businesses. So I go in and find the boots I’m looking for in my size and buy them. When I get home, I notice a small hole in the leather uppers — not a huge deal, but these are expensive boots.
No big deal, I’ll take them back to exchange them. Sales rep acknowledges that they are messed up, but there are no pairs left in my size, and it’s a closed stock item. They offered me store credit, but I came specifically for these boots — store credit won’t cut it. I ask for a refund and am refused. I’m a little flustered at this point, so I leave.
Come back two days later figuring I’ll speak with a manager. Instead I’m met with the same rep who originally sold me the shoes. He’s much less helpful than the other rep — he implies that I am a liar and says I probably damaged the boots myself.
So now I’m out $ 300 and stuck with a flawed pair of boots. Thanks for the awesome customer service, DNA Footwear!

Super nice staff. I tried on four or five pairs of shoes and never felt rushed to make any decisions. They were great conversationalists too. Didn’t even feel any pressure to buy. Ended up getting a cute pair of TOMS and the selection and diversity of their shoes are pretty good. I definitely go back again and will.

My sisters and I decided to go inside after admiring the nice footwear in the window display. All of the young ladies working at this store were amazing and helpful, although they were tired and ready to lock up shop, it didn’t show through their customer service. They have really nice shoes here offered at good prices.

I’ve bought several pairs of shoes and boots here. Great experience everytime. Love the selection available and the prices are great.

Rude employees, small and weird selection of shoes. It’s a bummer because it’s a good location but it’s worth going into the city for another store to not deal with anyone there.

We recently stayed in Park Slope while in town for a wedding. We had some down time the day of the wedding, so we stopped in and did some shopping. The staff was very knowledgeable and attentive. Three out of four of us ended up buying some shoes. What happened later in the day is the reason I felt the need to take the time to leave a review…
One hour before the wedding, I realized that the shoes I had packed were both right-footed.the store I had purchased them from did not check the box before selling them to me. I practically ran down to DNA and explained my situation. They were SO helpful and understood my sense of urgency and moved swiftly to get me some shoes and get me on my way. Janice was very sympathetic and she actually helped calm my nerves. She even remembered me AND my shoe size from earlier in the day!
If you find yourself in Park Slope, I recommend shopping at DNA!

I have been buying shoes from DNA since I moved to Park Slope. I love to stop in and browse and see what they have whenever I have a chance.
Last week my in-​laws were visiting and wanted to buy my 1 year old son a pair of shoes. He´s pretty big for his age and a bit between sizes (def not walking yet) but he needed something instead of his soft baby shoes. My mother in law got him a pair she liked. The next day at home i realized the size she got him was not fitting and the shoe was having a hard time staying on. I wasn´t sure about DNA´s return policy but I went into talk to the manager, Malvina.
AMAZING CUSTOMER SERVICE! She was kind, helpful, knowledgeable and so sweet with my son! She took a lot of time to help us find another shoe that fit and she and the other gentleman working took my son by the hands and walked him around the store in the new shoes she suggested. You can tell she takes pride in her work because she went the extra mile.
I work in the service industry and all I can say is WAY TO GO with the customer service, DNA. Malvina is a great asset to your team and I only hope you know that. Will be back for baby´s next shoes. VERY IMPRESSED.

I wish every store respected and treated customers as I was at DNA footwear store’ located on 5^th avenue and president street. The store manager listened to the situation I had with a shoe purchase several months ago and was patient and respectful.

The staff is extremely nice. I called in to get a pair of Toms to be held for me for pick up. When I got there she had them on the counter for me. I’ve always had a good experience here.

I bought a pair of summer shoes here in May. Then we had a cold snap and I didn’t get a chance to get them out of the box. When I finally did in early June I realized the size just wasn’t going to work. Called the store about an exchange or return as they were still brand new. Was refused help or access to manager over phone because I was 5 days over the 30 day window. The shoes were still prominently displayed on the website, not out of season by any means. So I emailed their customer service email. 4 weeks later NO RESPONSE! AWFUL SERVICE. If you want good service in Park Slope walk over to Erics on 7^th. More expensive and a bit sarcastic but extremely helpful!

I can’t believe all the bad reviews! Yes sometimes they don’t have my size, which is aggravating, but Melvina (I think that’s how you spell her name) is always willing to call other locations, and have the shoes sent to me. Every time I go into DNA I always find something I want!!! They have a great mix of shoes, from heels, to flats, flip flops, uggs, boots, and sneakers. They also have cute rain boots (hunters) and a good variety of kids shoes, not as much as the location on seventh, but they do have enough. If I call the store, which I do often to see if they have a certain product, Melvina is always willing to see if it’s available and hold it for me. Today I called and she is holding a pair of Birkenstocks for me, I also need white converse which she didn’t have my size in her store, but assured me that she will have it sent there, and will call me tomorrow so I can pick them up, great customer service! I’ve never felt like I was unwanted, very surprised with the reviews.

My issue is with their online store and it’s probably not fair to apply that to their physical location but you know what? Screw you DNA Footwear because I am not a happy customer right now.
Long story short — found my dream shoes in my size on their site, placed the order. Silence after a few days. I call — apparently my order’s been cancelled because the coupon code used was no good (the site accepted it as valid by the way, no error prompts). She said they sent an e-​mail but no, I checked, no e-​mail. It would have been nice to get a call asking me if I still wanted the shoes without the discount, no??? So I re-​ordered them on the phone. Next day I get an e-​mail saying it’s cancelled again because the merchandise is damaged and can’t be sold. I was specifically told the previous day that the item was still available for purchase. Ugh!
Get your shit together DNA Footwear, this is crappy. You shattered my shoe dreams and wasted my time, I could have given up on this particular shoe and found something else. But I am walking around with wet socks for days because I don’t have a good snow boot. Up yours.
Moral of the story: Don’t order online from this company.

I had appreciated the help earlier this week from Ashley — who helped change my order’s shipping time from standard (which would have been too late for my travel to Colorado) to UPS (which was to arrive today).
However I am VERY frustrated that the package was marked *signature required* (none of my other
shipments are this way) and I was at work, not at home, when UPS tried to deliver. Now I *may* be able to drive to their shipping center to retrieve my $ 200 boots — an incredible inconvenience, if it is even able to happen at all. So far I cannot reach a single person at UPS who can confirm that I will be able to pick up my boots at their center before leaving tomorrow morning.
Why, oh why, would you mark this *signature required* without asking me? You knew that receipt today (Friday) was vital, and that if that requirement was not met, I would cancel the order.
Not happy. Not happy at all.

I waited 3 weeks to get the shoes I ordered. I then had asked to exchange them because they were shipped to me in worn/​dirty and scuffed up condition. I called immediately after opening the box. I asked for the exchange to be shipped 3 day, since their shipping time is about 3 weeks. The customer service woman had huge attitude and took the exchange so personal. She took the exchange so grudgingly, but did leave notes for the shipping department to ship out with expedited shipping. It’s been about 4 weeks now and I am finally getting the shoes delivered today… But I only found out the shoes would be delivered today because I had to call about them. Now this girl too had an attitude. I just simply called to find out what happened and if there was notes about the 3 day shipping. I simply let her know that this whole process was difficult and frustrating (like an FYI) and she was trying to argue with me that it is not her departments fault and the shipping department was to blame and so on. I had to say to her (after she let me get a word in) I am just letting you know so you guys can be aware.
This online retailer is unprofessional!
The shipping is way too long to wait, especially if you have to exchange.
I do not recommend this website/​retailer!

Another review echoing tales of their poor customer service; the people who work at this store just aren’t good people. I was shopping for shoes with my husband while nine months pregnant; the baby had dropped and everything. Naturally, I had to pee while I was there. I asked the cashier if I could use their bathroom, and he said no! He wasn’t apologetic about it either; he actually rolled his eyes when I explained that I’m nine months pregnant and needing to pee causes a lot of pain. If you have ever experienced life with someone’s head crushing your bladder you know how evil that man is!!! I wanted to walk out right then but the (lazy) salesgirl had just come back with my husband’s shoes, which he needed for a wedding the next day, and they were 25% off, so they got the sale — but we are NEVER EVER EVER EVER going back there.

Rode my boyfriend’s bike for the first time from Sunset Park to Park Slope to pick up a pair of TOMS before a trip to Europe, and I was completely petrified the entire ride. When I walked into DNA Footwear, two staff members asked if I was OK right away (I must have looked like an insane person) and immediately started joking with me after I told them of my not-​so-​harrowing, but truly terrifying first bike ride on the streets of New York.
The saleswoman helped me choose the perfect pair of TOMS for my trip/​my entire life, even suggesting I go for the pop of red rather than the boring black (such a better choice).
When I got home and realized I had taken the incorrect size by mistake — my fault, not theirs — I went back in the next day and they exchanged them within nanoseconds. They are super speedy. Seriously.
Definitely getting my next pair of TOMS there. And there will be a next pair. Soon.

I went in today planning to buy one summer sale and one fall pair of shoes for myself and one pair of kids shoes for my daughter.
–It took ages for anyone to offer to help me, and when they did they were obviously annoyed by my daughter. The sales lady made a point of fixing any displays my daughter had touched before listening to me. She said, ‘Oh my Gooood.’ While moving the shoes. I told her I would fix them for her, and she said not to.
–I requested sizes in two pair for myself and one for my daughter and were told none of them were in stock.
The only reason I’m leaving two stars instead of one is because she did measure my daughter’s foot and was fairly nice about it.

This store is better than the one on 7^th ave. Why? They promote sales and they have a better selection. While this store is getting their shoe sale on, the 7^th ave store has absolutely no rackage with sale shoes anywhere to be seen.
The merchandise is a little different in both stores. I’d say this is the best selection of TOMS shoes in the area.

Shoes are sort of my thing. I mean, yeah… sort of cliché, but if you think so I’ll just step on you with my high heels. And not if you like that sort of thing, either. Only if it’ll be mean! What it boils down to is… they always fit! No shrieking in the dressing room. If I run my ass off I will never be able to wear a size 6 shoe. Conversely, I can eat all the twice-​friend cherry pie at ChipShop that I want and I’ll still loom at a 9.5. Really, they are the perfect accessory…
It’s hotter than hell in NYC, but it’s June in San Francisco and Park City, where my most recent travels have landed me. I needed some cute boots to keep my tooties warm and my outfits looking fresh. Both pairs of brown boots from this past winter are beyond trashed by salt/​snow (though I can’t quite seem to part with them, does anyone repair this kind of thing? PLEASE HELP with suggestions!).
Anyway, I popped into DNA and found the perfect small wedge heeled brown boots that I’d been pining over. Yes, they are a tad expensive at $ 129.99, but I wear boots ALL THE TIME. Until they literally fall apart, so… I splurged. IN reality, this isn’t expensive for boots at all. IN fact they have a very extensive line of Frye boots and shoes that’ll put that price tag to shame. I’m just giving you a relative outlook. Add in a pair of gold Haviana thins for bummin’ around in ($ 18), and I left pretty happy with the state my feet would be in for the near term.
Most of the negative reviews seem to be with their online store, so I’d avoid that. However, as someone just stopping in to their retail location on 5^th Avenue, totally normal shoe shopping experience. Girl asks my size, brings me small socks to wear, rings me up, gives me 10 percent off discount for next time (maybe), and I’m on my way.
They have a very, very excellent assortment of shoes, too. If I had been left to my own devices with someone else’s money I could’ve done some great damage here. Luckily I stayed focused, and left with just 2 pairs of desired footwear. But, if you are seeking some of the latest summer styles, take a peek.
Boots scored, and good thing… June in SF: not hot. Boots = hot.
