History

Established in 2014.

I started Danygenie to build clientele independent of the salons I worked at over the years, because I wanted a certain type of client. I want clients who will listen to my advice and care about their hair. If I say something is not good for your hair, please believe it because I dont want to see you a few months later with messed up hair and scalps. Its been a slow process because I know when a person and I will get along and when a client will better for someone else. I want clients to be happy and in return I will be happy.

Dany was very professional during the consultation. She took the time to really get to know what I was looking for and how to work with my hair.
I have very difficult, thin hair to work with, and she made perfectly straight lines.
With good conversation, the time flew by! Very reasonable pricing, and it’s so hard to find a good extensionist and good price. She’s a great find, been to her twice now.

Dany is simply amazing when it comes to extensions. I have thin blonde hair and she gave me a consultation, and within a week I had my appointment.
The hair is top notch, and doesn’t tangle too much. I had the cold fusion process and with purchase of hair, was about $ 600. Lasted 4 months. Go for a touch up in between and remember to keep your hair when the pieces come out. She will clean them up and put them in again.
Dany has hair for every hair type and really takes her time when consulting with you and walking you through the process.

Dany does awesome work! In this life your not going to please the Marcia B’s in this world but as long as you keep true to your principles, Dany, the more always outweigh the few. I’ve had my hair done by Dany since she was affiliated with another shop in Brooklyn, NY. She not only does exceptional work but she suggests ways that I can improve on my hair care regimen. I can’t really get to her as often as I want, due to my work schedule and I live in Queens as well, but she has my hair looking polished every visit. All the best to you Dani and may God bless you.

I purchased the groupon promotion for the location at 373 Broadway. The package included a wash, condition, hair trim, blow dry and style. Its a small studio, which I prefer over large loud spaces. She immediately greeted me very pleasantly and looked at my hair texture and needs before proceeding. I have soft but unpermed hair (many stylist don’t know how to detangle and press natural hair without heat damage). Many stylist are into styling, but not taking care of hair. She steamed my hair for over 30 minutes to hydrate it, showed me products that work well with my hair and how to detangle it. I was very pleased with the outcome and her communication. She didn’t just cut how much off she wanted to she communicated and asked permission, which is VERY important! I have been to Aveda, if you have natural African American hair don’t go, and many other high profile places and been disappointed. I was very pleased with this stylist. I will be coming back and recommend my friends to her

I just saw a reply from the owner to my review. It’s nice to know that she is at least honest enough to not deny the fact that she was extremely rude and nasty towards me.
I never asked her to compromise her relationship with her suppliers and I DID NOT KNOW that she’d already purchased the hair, instead of flipping out on me the way she did, she could have just told me «I’ve already purchased the hair, so unless you’re willing to buy additional hair, this is the texture we will be using and I can assure you the hair will be gorgeous» and none of this would have happened because I totally trusted her wisdom and judgment in terms of hair care. THAT’S what you call superior customer service. Feel free to use that whenever a client changes their mind instead of going off on them. You’re welcome :)
Best of luck with your business and next time try a little kindness and open communication. You never know when the person you disrespect may be an avid Unilocaler ;)

I LOVE Danygenie!!! She is professional and quite knowledgeable. I wish that you could see a picture of what I looked like before?! I have been getting my hair done for years. But NEVER has my hair been in better condition or looked so good! Dany gave me full highlights and a Keratin treatment. With Blonde hair usually the follicle gets damaged. I have been going to Danielle for about a year now, and can’t say enough good things about her. She has my hair looking fabulous, and I’m never there long to get my hair done. I’ve gotten my hair flat ironed, I’ve gotten extensions, and I’ve gotten my hair in a really cute fishtail braid and she is a whiz at it all. Very talented and sweet stylist!
