This green market is very small! Hardly even a full block. Then again, if you don’t need a lot of choices this place isn’t half bad. They have a bunch of non organic veggie stands, and one option for bread, fish, meat and bakery goods. When I was here, they had a free clam bake. Everyone was pretty happy about that.

I love this Greenmarket because it’s big enough that I can find what I need but small enough that it doesn’t seem overwhelming. Plus it’s always really reasonable priced compared to the Union Square Greenmarket or even the Grand Army Plaza Greenmarket. The only thing that’s really pricy is the mushrooms but even then it’s not too bad. Knoll Krest Farm is probably my favorite stand because their eggs are well priced and taste amazing. Granted they are grain fed chickens but at least they aren’t fed antibiotics.

A great farmers market! This is the place to get fresh and seasonal produce, which can be hard sometimes. I love their stands and hope it grows! :)

Greenmarkets can bring purpose to purposeless weekends, and this one is extra exciting for me for the exact reason I occasionally complain about it… you never know which vendors are going to be there. That’s OK, though. I get very excited about the winery, the farmers that sell grass-fed beef and sausage(they give samples) and the mushroom vendor. Bread and baked goods seem to be overpriced, especially since there is a great, old-timey bakery across the street. Go early and grab some coffee and a bagel from Catskill Bagel Company.

There’s nothing better than waking up on a Sunday and walking to the Farmer’s Market for buttery croissants. My girlfriend and I not only have our croissant ritual, but we also buy ingredients at the market for that day’s lunch and dinner — fresh mussels from Gill’s Seafood that I cook with wine from TB Ackerson, fennel bulb and dill and onion from Muddy River Farm, and a baguette from Bread Alone. We also get mushrooms for sauteing and farm fresh tomatoes for a caprese salad. Peaches also are the star of a nice peach cobbler. Mmmm. .. . foodie heaven. My only complaint about the market is that it’s not open every day of the week and it’s on the small size — small compared to Grand Army or Union Square — but beloved nonetheless. Now open all year round.
