Clean N Green Laundromat

Bad vibes here but I believe people can change. Myself included.

I can’t stress how pathetic the customer service is here. While the laundry is generally ready on time and done well, it’s beyond my comprehension how Abe (who seems like a nice enough man) doesn’t seek to address this ongoing problem with his staff. They refuse to make any concession for the customers. They have a minimum spend on card of $ 20, which is high but fair enough. My bill came to 19.70; I requested one of the staff (a young, surly woman) to please run the card. She refused. I said I don’t mind if you charge me $ 20 on the card, I just don’t have cash. She said she couldn’t because she’d have have to «enter the information all over again.» She suggested I go to the AtM and withdraw cash, which obviously would cost $ 3 on top. This is just the latest in a long line of examples of not giving a damn: The mantra of pleasing your customer is spat upon every single day at this place. C’mon, Abe!

Would give zero if I could. This place used to be decent but is downright atrocious now!
I almost always do my own laundry, but on certain occasions I have a big load to do and need drop off service. Last week I went in to drop stuff off on a Tuesday and was told I’d get it back Friday night. I asked if this was normal since usually it took one day and they said no they were just busy. There weren’t many bags on the racks so I figured that they just didn’t feel like doing my laundry. I could not wait that long as I was leaving on a trip and since they are now the only laundromat close to my apt I had to leave work early the next day just to finish my laundry before their early closing time.
About that early closing time, it used to be 11. And the website, voicemail and Unilocal page all say 11. The door says 9. But in fact it’s as early as the staff feels like closing. I went in to pick up the dry cleaning i had dropped off and at 8:35 was told by the woman working that she had logged out of the computer and couldn’t look up my clothes. I could see them hanging and the cash drawer was open but she refused to give my shirts to me. WTF, I can’t have my clothes because you feel like going home early!?!
I went back tonight at 8:25 and the same woman was getting ready to close up. This time the computer was still on but she would not accept the coupon that I had. Someone else tried to come in and at 8:29 (I checked my phone right after she said she was closing) was told they were closing and she would have to come back another time.
When I asked what would happen if I wanted to stay until 9 I was told I would be forcibly removed and she would be calling the cops on me. Paying customers are considered criminals if it interferes with the staff leaving early I guess.
Another time, I tried to pick up my dry cleaning 15 minutes after they opened and a different woman was locking up the door and told me she was going out for coffee and would be back in 15 minutes! So I apparently also can’t have my clothes in the morning because it interferes with their caffeine fixes!
Abe, the owner, is very nice but if you work regular hours you won’t ever deal with him. Instead you’ll have to deal with his unpleasant staff who apparently aren’t required by the owner to actually keep the store open.
I won’t be returning and if you decide to go here make sure you can go midday because the hours at the beginning and end of the day are not exactly firm.

The only way I can justify the many ways in which this place is terrible is that the owners do not want your business unless you are doing drop off service.
First off: they now close super early and didn’t bother to tell anyone. They went from closing at 11 PM to closing at 9 PM without updating their website or Unilocal page. Thus my checking to make sure I could get my laundry done after my errands last night turned out to be for nothing. Arrived at 7:45 to be told last wash was at the (unacceptably early) 7:30? I mean I guess it’s my fault for not noting this when I’d passed by on weekends for the past couple of months, but this is still pretty weird.
As an actual place to get laundry done the space is miserable. I mean I’ve never been in a laundromat that was really a nice place to spend time in but I feel as though they’ve gone out of their way to be extra unpleasant. There are only 2 chairs and they are taped together, thus meaning 2 strangers can’t really share them without feeling super awkward. All the entertainment is situated at the front, presumably for staff use alone while folding or waiting for laundry. The customer folding table is always buried 4 laundry carts deep or covered with abandoned laundry bags.
I mean I get it — drop off makes more money and focusing on it allows you to close earlier, thus cutting costs. That 5^th avenue space can’t be cheap and you need to cut corners where you can. All that said I won’t be going back.

First, as a dry cleaner, this place had awful customer service, so we stopped using them a few years ago.
Unfortunately, this laundromat is also a UPS access point, and my husband and I have both had terrible experiences picking up packages here because of the same employee. She would not release our packages because the first name on the package was different than on our IDs (our nicknames were on the packages, rather than our full first names, think: Tony instead of Anthony). At first, this employee would not release the package because she said that it was UPS policy, so I called UPS and a representative spoke with her and instructed her to release my package because my last name and address on my license matched those listed on the package. The employee refused, now stating that her manager would not allow it even though UPS was telling her it was okay! My husband had to return three times to retrieve his package and I will now have to go back and speak with the manager. I can appreciate that the employee didn’t want to disobey her manager but her demeanor was also extremely unpleasant. I will definitely contact UPS about how Clean n Green is a terrible access point, and hope I’ll never have to interact with them again — for laundry, packages or anything else!

I have been using Abe at Clean N Green for my laundry pickup/​wash & fold for at least 4 years. Abe, the owner, comes to my house (and as I understand it — all over the city) with his Clean N Green Laundry van and always gives a phone call heads up with either 5 – 30 minutes warning (I work from home so this is easy) and he’s there with a smile and always a kind word or two. I get my laundry picked up usually once or maybe twice a week.
Abe is almost always the one we deal with, except on rare occasions when he’s out of town and we have to bring it in ourselves. He always picks up the laundry himself, probably to ensure excellent quality.
I have never done my laundry at the laundromat myself but I do agree with some of the other reviewers that the people who work in the store itself do not put the company’s best foot forward (this is the only reason for 4 instead of 5 stars). They could be seen as trashy, immature or incompetent at times (I’ve had one of the girls tell me that they don’t have my card on file when they did in fact have my card on file). Overall the price is right, they use special fragrance-​free detergent per my request that does not irritate my allergies and the machines are friendly to the environment, unlike most places. In my experience, the service is excellent and I’ve never lost an item of clothing to my knowledge.
Clean N Green has become part of my neighborhood essential. Plus Abe is a real Mensch (kind, conscientious person).

About a month ago, the young woman who works here mixed up laundry loads and as a result both my son and I lost clothes. (see my previous review). The owner offered me a credit. Today I went to pick up laundry, using the credit, and the same young woman claimed to know nothing about it, claimed she couldn’t call the boss, nor could she call the other woman that works there.
I told her I would take my laundry and then return Monday to work it out with the boss or the other worker. She threatened to call the police. THE POLICE! I took my clothes and left. Won’t be retuning. They can even keep the money they still owe me on the credit. I sent an email and will call the boss next week.
They need some serious customer service training in this place.

I had just moved into the neighborhood & needed a pick up/​delivery. this was one of the few places on Unilocal which provided pick up /​delivery service. i had a knit blanket which my grandmother had made for me when i was a child… the cat pee’d on the blanket which is why i needed the laundry sent out asap! they called to let me know that they ran the blanket twice on gentle cycle and got all the smell out… it seemed like it was brand new! they were very professional on the phone, had 2 laundry bags returned to me within 24 hours, didn’t charge extra for the blanket… the delivery man did complain about the 4^th floor walk-​up, but who wouldn’t! i would definitely recommend their pick-​up/​delivery service!

I am leaving this review at 10:40 on a Wednesday night because this DUMP decided that although their hours on their answering machine, and on their door, and OH yea on Unilocal,states that they are opened until 11 they decided to just close early because yea I get it… DONT WE ALL WANT TO LEAVE WORK EARLY ALLTHE TIME. But these asshole forget that people have laundry drying and depend on picking it up.
Got to the laundromat at 10:30 when I realized that it was closed. A girl standing nearby said that the girl working in the laundromat closed up just a minute earlier. I ran down the road and spotted the girl… and out of the pure kindness of her heart she refused to go back and unlock the shop so I can retrieve my clothes.

If the machine here and the prices weren’t so good I would never come in here. The trashy teenagers that work here are awful, they talk about sex in front of little kids, they are rude and not to mention everyone if their thug boyfriends hang out here while they“work”. This is one of the worst laundromats I have ever used. I really wish the owner would take out the tash and get rid of these little girls and hire people that actually need a job.

Then this is the place for you! Enjoy the ambiance!

I got my load in on time so that my clothing in the dryer would be ready just before the laundromat closes. However the worker on duty decided to close the laundromat early and my clean unfolded clothing was locked inside. These are the clothes that I normally wear to work. I will now have to show up first thing in the morning to claim my clothing. I will not be returning.

I have had three negative experiences here, all involving the same employee:
1) She remarked on how much laundry my girlfriend does, groaning «she’s in here like every other day!» Now, it’s true, she does drop off laundry approximately twice a week. But this is the business that they’re in – they should be happy about their regular customers, not annoyed!
2) One day I went to pick up the laundry and the woman claimed that they didn’t have our credit card on file. How can this woman be so intimately involved with our twice-​a-​week business and then seem so clueless? They’ve always had our credit card on file, that’s how we pay twice a week!
3) After insisting that the credit card was on file and then giving up, I got excited because «oh good, now I’ll just pay for it and take advantage of that Unilocal deal I saw from you guys.» And the woman goes «Oh no, oh no, I can’t do that. You can’t use that.» and then claims that she knows nothing about it, someone else tried to use it and she doesn’t know how to process the coupon, and that I can only use it while Abe (the owner) is there because he’s the only one who knows how to process it. I suggested that she pass on the feedback that they should get rid of the Unilocal deal if it’s not possible to use it. She didn’t seem like she was going to pass it on.
All that was back in December. I’ve since found a new laundromat.

Okay, I actually LOVE the way these people do laundry, they take credit cards (which they’ll keep on file) and the price is right. They wash with care, turn your clothes right-​side-​out, fold like pros, and follow instructions to the T. But I took two stars because the pick-​up delivery service is unpredictable. On more than one occasion, we’ve set a time with them and Abraham (the driver) either just didn’t show up, or came WAY earlier or later (sometimes by several hours!). This was fine at the time, because I was working from home. But now I’m back in the office, so the random times won’t work– I won’t even be home! We will still be using them for our no-​dry/​delicate clothing, but for our regular laundry, we’ve decided to go elsewhere.

Clean, Open, Free WiFi (haven’t tried this), and free Detergent. (Though I still bring my own because I think it works better) Used to get my laundry done across the street, this place is a palace compared to that shit hole.
Also, the laundry cards are a huge plus– no more quarters. But make sure you pay attention when using the dryer — you do it in 8 minute increments.
Noticing that many of the complaints against this place are regarding the drop-​off laundry service, which I haven’t used.

I regularly wash my clothes here — the machines are fine and do the job. I appreciate the free soap.
I give one star because one of the employees regularly smokes cigarettes literally in the entrance to the laundromat. It’s really disgusting. I have to breathe in her smoke when I walk into the business. Not acceptable. If there was another option near my house, I’d go there.

This place is OK. Not terrible, a little annoying, but the clothes got cleaned.
A shirt was lost but they quickly found it and called me. Some of the workers are in need of some training on how to use the coupons. I had to walk back three times just to wait for someone who knew how to process the Unilocal coupon to ring me up so that I could pick up my clothes.

I have a love-​hate relationship with these people. The owner, Abe, is pleasant and great to deal with. But he’s got to get some better help. When I deal with him, things are fine. When I deal with his staff… I never know what I’m going to get. I’ve been double charged for stuff… not had stuff ready when they say they have… and a few other little problems. I look over it because I like supporting the local businesses, but they can try to run a tighter ship over there.

This is the closest place for my laundering needs. They clean my clothes decently enough with very little excess smell which is nice. Still, I’m always awarded with strange gifts such as super extra large t-​shirts (which do not match the wardrobe being dropped off) and random sockage. Is there a sock monster behind the dryer? No… that’s clean N green sending your sockage off with another patron.
Honestly I probably won’t stop using them secondary to convenience and their being «green» is hopefully true and a bonus but I have to wonder where my half of my piggie socks went and what other treasures I can find in my laundry the next time they wash my goodies.

I purchased the Unilocal deal, and they did not honor it. When I dropped off my clothes, the woman said she didn’t know how to ring up the coupon. She stapled it to the order and said they would apply it when we picked it up. When my husband picked up the dry cleaning, they had lost the coupon and charged him the full amount. She didn’t know how to void the transaction.
Their dry cleaning prices are also pretty high, so I am quite annoyed that I paid even more money since they failed to honor the certificate. All in all, I paid $ 48 for two dresses, a coat, and a scarf.
