Had to write an update to give them an extra star! When they used to be in Brooklyn Bridge Park, I wrote a review that the food was awesome but I wished they were friendlier. When they relocated to Main St a while later, it was like a whole new place! Food is still AMAZING but the guys are solo nice! I moved to San Francisco and miss this place all the time!!!

Tourist trap — Nothing special here. I had a black bean bowl and I didn’t get much value and there is cabbage used as a filler, which was not listed on menu. I think the quesadillas are unhealthy due to too much Jack cheese and resemble a burrito. The sauce which is supposed to be with chipotle did not have much spice. I agree too about the wads of cash peeking out from the pockets is silly.

In my humble opinion, this is the best burrito in the city.

I’m really iffy about ethnic food served by white people, but this cart surpassed expectations at a great price + service

A taco stand was one of the last things I expected to find here on Pier 1, but the smell was great, the line was long, and the way they put up their stickers prior to placing them on wrapped burritos was artistic. It is efficient and the wait is long, but the wait is due to the four to five people waiting in front of you while the food is cooked in front of you. Also, it’s personalized. The Carne Asada taco is not the best I’ve had, but it is flavorful and the food is freshly made.

Hey just want to give a shout out to this great cart. For one I commend the three hard working guys standing there in the super hot weather on Sunday cooking tacos, burritos, quesadillas and all the rest of the good stuff you served up at this great cart. This cart was super duper clean. You guys were also very nice. :) I ordered a carne asada taco and it was delicious, packed with steak and very flavorful. Wish I would have ordered more. I will def be back

I have eaten from this cart many times. Had the Carne Asada bowl the most recent time and as usual the food was delicious and the price reasonable. In the past I’ve had the chicken burritos and the pork bowls. All have been as good as or better than the other food options in DUMBO. The only complaint is that at peak demand times it can be a bit of a wait. Thats the price of success I suppose.

Ordered the carne asada burrito. They managed to figure out how to make the meat tender, but unfortunately it was completely lacking any flavor… even with the roasted tomato sauce. My vote for the best carne asada burrito still lies with Los Pollitos. Best in Brooklyn… would even give it the All-City award.

If you want bang and flavor for your buck(which is really all I ever want for my buck), the pork burrito is the move. Crack sauce, unlike milk, is a good choice. I find that as with other Calexico locations, the quality can vary a bit day to day, but pork is the most consistent. Perhaps because pork is the finest of all meats. This particular cart won my heart when some guy trying to buy a bottle of water tried to cut the substantial line, and the guy manning the cart said, «Buddy, c’mon. I’ve got a line here.» This isn’t ‘Nam.

Maybe I loved it b/c I loved the day I was having so much, but I think it actually made the day even better. It was already amazing, walking around the park with my boyfriend, spending our last few days in the city, we moved :(, and we were starving, so we chose this cart. We ate at a table in front of the water, the food was really good! The guac was great, my steak tacos were amazing, better than the burrito he had. But he said it was really good too. It was fast, fresh food, the people were nice, and not to expensive. I’d def suggest it.

Pre-game for Brooklyn movie night. It wasn’t even busy and we waited 30 mins for food. After the initial frustration of waiting and waiting and waiting, we walked the food to our spot on the lawn and started to eat… it was pretty good but some other folks had some pizza and other folks had amazing looking sandwiches. So consider your options when you decide to invest half an hour waiting for this food.

Took forever(about 35 minutes because of the number of customers and the fact that there were only 3 dudes manning the cart), but the burrito itself(I ordered the Carne Asada) was pretty tasty: the meat was tender and flavorful, and the other ingredients married well with it. Not much more to say. Out of the oddly limited food(not ice cream) options in the park, this is the only one I’d revisit.

Chicken Burrito was amazing. A rather large one at that, crack sauce just makes you want another one… I am undecided if that is a good or bad thing. Would def recommend

I ordered the pork chipotle burrito bowl. I had low expectations given it’s location… sort of a tourist trap area by the Brooklyn bridge. It was absolutely delicious and my 16 month year old enjoyed it was well. The ingredients were fresh and tasty. Would definitely recommend.

This was the only truck around when I went for the outdoor movie screening in Brooklyn Bridge Park. Luckily it was super tasty. I had the bean(vegetarian) burrito($ 7) and a side of guac($ 2). The guac was small but thankfully — as someone who is offended by mediocre guac — divine! Friendly guys running the thing too.

Bumped into Calexico after walking the Brooklyn Bridge Park. I was starving and the chicken taco did not satisfy my hunger ONLY because after I finished eating it, I just wanted some more. I had another taco after I am officially a fan.

I was surprised to see this cart here on my most recent stroll down to the pier. There’s a decent menu, and the prices aren’t too bad. I ordered a rolled quesadilla with carne asada. It is said to come with chipotle«crack» sauce. Things usually get the crack moniker when they have an addictive flavor, so that swayed my decision a bit. Ordering is a little bit haphazard, as there’s no line, and it’s really up to the guy to take your order when he has time. This is understandable, as it’s a two man operation(from what I can tell) but a little more organization would be nice. I get my quesadilla and plop down on a bench facing the seaport. I ordered a carne asada quesadilla, but I tasted mostly queso. Oh, there was plenty of meat, and it was tender, but it wasn’t really flavorful. Perhaps this crack stuff will make me feel better. It was a kind of chipotle aioli that you could dip the quesadilla into. Not bad, but not crack. That, or it’s true what they say: crack is whack. I’ve definitely had worse Mexican food, but I’ve also had much better. It’s a good addition to the area there, since it’s really the only option you have to eat if you don’t want to walk for 20 minutes, wait an hour, make reservations, and/or sit indoors. Not bad, not great. I’ll have to come back and try other items.

I’ve been working in DUMBO for over 3 years now, and have to find lunch everyday in this gastronomically stagnant area. The Calexico cart just moved into pier 1 and it’s been a very welcome addition. I have tried the Chicken Tacos and the Pork Burrito, and both have been excellent. The prices are fair and the food seems of very high quality. I find myself going here at least once a week now, as are my coworkers. I have no idea what other reviewers are talking about when it comes to the low reviews. The guys who work there are super nice and helpful. I haven’t personally had an experience where a tourist tried to cut me, but think it’s totally fair to give them an «authentic new york experience» and tell them to get out of the way if one does try. It’s a food cart, so I’m not expecting a gourmet meal to begin with, but this comes close as you can with street cart mexican by way of america. The food here is good for sure, the location is great, and the service is friendly. If they had a bit more selection, or stocked more pork at any given time(they’ve run out) m, I would have given them 5 stars. However, this is about as good as food carts come in my experience.

I’ve been twice for lunch and can report an amazing chipotle seasoned pork taco. Succulent, so tasty, with a bit of heat. Very fresh. The carne asada taco was a bit disappointing and I’ve had better. But the pork taco redeems the cart. I’m glad they are there and appear to be doing good business.
