Excellent espresso, friendly staff, low-​key independent-​feeling coffee house with odd seating.

This place is great, and all of the baristas are attentive, courteous and good at making drinks.
Sorry that Ahmed is so race conscious that he can’t see past his nose, regardless of it’s shade or size. To refer to the counter women as ‘emo white girls’ is ignorant and racist, so lucky for the rest of us that he promises not to be back.

Stopped in for a coffee before an appointment I had in the area. I’ve walked by this place quite a few times. Coffee was delicious! The staff were very sweet and had such fun spunky personalities. The prices are very reasonable– I think I paid $ 2 for a small coffee. Too bad I couldn’t stick around, they had a cool bench outside and a few seats inside. Cute spot, I’ll be back!

Lovely little place I discovered thanks to Unilocal.Reminded me of old Italian style cafes. Problem is I ordered an iced latte and found it extremely week. Barely a hint of espresso. Went back in and asked for another shot. He mentioned something about it being kind of week (actually didn’t here exactly what he said) and then he charged me $ 1.90 for an extra shot. Even with the extra shot, it was week. Total cost was I think $ 5.70 for a mediocre at best drink. (Personally I think there’s something wrong with their espresso machine, but not sure)
Though it’s a cool little place, probably wouldn’t try them again. :(

How it kills me to write this review living in this hood for almost seven years. It’s true. Their people skills is the pits. Attitudes galore which is beyond me… it’s not like they get THAT much foot traffic and can afford this ugliness. They have a punchcard system to earn a free drink yet don’t advertise it. I saw a woman in front of me hand it over and I politely said, «Can I get one of those?» after I ordered. The barista practically rolled his eyes. They make it really hard to be a ‘regular’…such irony. Too many amazing places to grab a cup of joe these days. The audacity they have a tip jar! Service with a smile is not on the menu.

Seriously excellent coffee — awesome environment. Great place to relax for a bit and get some good, no frills coffee.

I think it’s weird that there are several complaints about the service. I haven’t encountered anyone who was overly rude, but they definitely don’t do small talk if that’s what you expect. If you’re looking for a cute and rustic café to grab a coffee and go, this café is it. It is furnished with a few tables and seats, however it is a bit cramped. During peak hours, expect to find a line out the door. I’ve never had to wait very long despite there being only one barista most times. I recommend trying a double iced latte. It’s always delicious.

No card minimum! Espresso and hot chocolate are amazing here. If you’re into brewing coffee at home, try the beans they use here– fantastic. Pastries are always fresh and delicious– cheddar chive biscuits and jelly doughnuts are the best. Great place to sit (or stand) to catch your breath even if it is small. The other branch on Berkeley is larger, and worth checking out (cool mural inside). I’ve had nothing but pleasant experiences with the people who work at this branch, especially the cute Indian guy (who makes one of the best cappuccinos I’ve ever had!).

Hyper local, small joint where everyone seems to know everyone. Drinks are well priced and service is nice but casual.

Perfectly made cappuccino. It’s a tight squeeze to get in and sit; but once you find a nook, then it is quite comfy.

If you want to catch up in your studies or have quite time this is the place for you. It is really quite just the way I like it. And it have a rustic feel to it. The chairs and table is unique and interesting. Like you are back in school. Lol
Service is great. The guy behind the counter seem very tired but still have a little spark. This place have lots of pictures which is nice
As for the coffee it have a rustic taste. But still taste like great brewed coffee. Keep making wonderful coffee

Quiet, cozy, beautiful décor, super quality drinks. Feels like I’m in France. Great Wifi! This place is very small but the seating is really cool — a bench along the wall with individual desks coming out from underneath. Probably a great place to do solitary work — not necessarily meet a group. But when it’s nice out there are seats outside to chat with friends, as well. I feel so comfortable here — definitely coming back often. Chill music, too.

I’m assuming I got the death stare because I couldn’t grab a coffee lid and napkin fast enough and get out of there. (Even though it was 10am on a Thursday morning.)

I came in here yesterday and the place is the size of my apartments bathroom. When I entered the girl behind the register looked at me like she was confused. I’m light brown skinned with middle eastern features, maybe they weren’t used to seeing anyone who was not pale white with a emo type of disposition.
I stood in front of the counter not sure where to order at. The place is small, two employees behind counter and it was not busy. I stood there looking at them for at least 3 minutes while one of the pretended to do work and started to tighten the lid of a bottle. The other was pouring ice coffee, but both ignored me.
Finally the one who was doing nothing asks me how can I help you and I asked for a latte. She points to the register and says order there first. I go to the register and the other girl decides she will go to the back instead of taking my order. Okay so now I’m confused, do they not want my business?
Finally the other girl comes down, takes my order and makes me a latte. I asked for a double shot. I would take crappy service if the product is good but it was also crap. It was not a double, it was not even warm!!! How the hell can you mess that up? I never ordered a hot latte before and got something that seemed like it was sitting out for a half hour.
I will never return and the service sucks. Hire people who want to work instead of emo white girls who hate their lives.

Be warned that if you’re looking for a place to work, the wifi here is pretty much unusable (on my Mac). Make sure you can connect before ordering, if that’s important to you.
(I personally did not like the cold brew either, but you may feel differently.)

Café Regular is aptly named as regulars of the neighborhood often liter the side walk out front. This no frills café makes a decent cup of joe at a park slope price. While the options are limited and the service a bit slow, the European vibe and strong hit of caffeine make this a (sometimes) worthwhile stop. The small but charming interior is reminiscent of a Parisian coffee shop, and while it is not meant for hosting large groups, or anyone for an extended period of time, the atmosphere is relatively welcoming. I would recommend café regular for an espresso shot or a cappuccino, but I would skip the few baked goods they have on display. In addition, I would ask the barista to go light on the ice if you are in the mood for an iced coffee in the summer heat. I frequent this café but more as a means of convenience than as a great deal or a fantastic cup of coffee.

My daughter and I were in the area for a vacation. A good friend always says that, when you travel, you must find «your café». I was so happy to find this place and claim it for the 5 days we were in the neighborhood. Wonderful coffee, great baked goods, lovely hardboiled brown eggs and a cool atmosphere. Loved it and you will too!

Coffee was ok. Place is tiny. We didn’t feel very welcome, so with all the choices around, I dont think I would come back.

One of the best cups of coffee I’ve had in the states. After studying abroad in Rome, I have been hunting down good, well made/​brewed coffee in the states. You come across A LOT of coffee that shops boast as «just really good strong coffee.» No my friend, you burnt your beans and not your coffee tastes burned. That is not strong, that is bad coffee making. Might as well just go to Starbucks. Not the case at Café Regular! Each cup is made with care and it shows. God this is a good cup of coffee. Just incredible and reminiscent of my Rome days.
This is a small place so keep that in mind if going during «rush» times. The people that work here are very friendly and lovely. They also accept credit cards.

Exactly what I was looking for on a beautiful day. Nice vibe, very relaxed, soft groove music faintly coming from somewhere. Delicious cappuccino.

It’s been almost 5 hours since I was there this morning and I’m still scratching my head over the awful service I received and shitty attitudes of the two women working the shop. Maybe it’s because it was early (around 7:15), maybe it’s because I’m not a woman, or maybe it’s just because they only talk to their «regulars.» Whatever the case may be, I’m done with this place.
I can’t say I’ve ever received friendly service from here, but it has never been as cold and morose as what I experienced this morning. My «good morning» greeting to the two employees (who were the only other people in the place) went unacknowledged. I stood there for nearly a minute before either of them even turned around, and even then there was no prompting for my order, so I just blurted out what I wanted. If the place wasn’t the size of a walk-​in closet, I might cut them some more slack, but gimme a break!
Moments later, a woman walked in and was greeted with smiles and pleasantries by both employees. I waited while the three of them chatted, discussing how lovely the barista’s hair looked this morning, despite having just woken up and having not showered. She announced that my coffee was done and handed it to me, without so much as a glance. I’m surprised she didn’t throw it at me. I took it, thanked her and left.
I won’t be going back.

It’s a typical chicken vs the egg situation: I’m wondering if this name came about because of all of its regulars or if some people looking for a routine found solace in this café. I stopped in for all of 5 minutes, and anybody who came in seemed to know the others in this small café, and the barista knew their orders by heart.
I was very happy to see they were brewing La Colombe, and boy did they do a good job with those beans! They even have a more «personalized» fixing station like the La Colombe’s in Manhattan, offering metal spoons for stirring, open containers of sugar, and (my favorite) a large shaker of cinnamon.
Although the place was a little cramped for my liking, it’s definitely somewhere I’ll be stopping in for to-​go coffees and espressos.

Don’t go there if you want a friendly smile with your coffee.

When you visit this café, you no longer feel like you are in Brooklyn – or anywhere in NYC. It’s a small cozy place.
I was so happy they have Barry’s tea on the menu. The tea bags were fresh, and I love their milk, sugar station with the real spoons (creates a home like feel). I was so surprised by how hot the water was!!! HUGE PLUS! It is unfortunate that a lot of the machines in coffee establishments/​restaurants do not make the water hot enough (ya know, that cloudy water that covers the top?)
The coffee is delicious. Cappuccinos are foamy and incredible.
Service and staff is beyond kind.

Dropped in on my way to work for a simple order: large coffee and croissant. After paying, and tipping (which I now regret), I picked up the wrong drink by accident. Turns out it belonged to the young woman who works there who then proceeded to snap at me like I was her two year old. «That’s MY coffee. What did you DO to it?» Yes, she literally said that. Thankfully, her co-​worker, a friendly young male, defended me and said, «She didn’t do anything to your drink.» Wow. Definitely not worth my time or money, even if the coffee was good.

It’s very difficult to maneuver in, out, and around the space because it’s so tiny. There is a bench alongside the wall that can fit at most 3 – 4 people. So if need be, you potentially can take a breather and take a seat, but why would you? It is borderline claustrophobic.
I ordered a drip coffee, a cappuccino, and a green tea misto. Drip coffee was bitter and strong. The 1-​shot cappuccino was very light but too milky– my boyfriend had to order another caffeinated drink two hours after chugging down his Café Regular cappuccino because it wasn’t strong enough to keep him alert in the office. And the tea misto is hard to mess up, so it sufficed.
There is one barista/​cashier behind the counter so the lines do not move as quickly as NYC’ers expect it to.
There isn’t much of a pastry selection. They have brownies, blondies, and croissants but displayed in a not-​so-​appetizing way, so I wasn’t even tempted to break my low-​carb diet.
It does the trick in the neighborhood, since it is on the corner of 5^th Avenue– 2 long avenues away from the nicer cafes and restaurants on 7^th Avenue.
