Description

Specialties

I teach upright and electric bass, jazz theory and classical technique. You will gain a strong foundation in fundamentals, allowing you to learn and play any piece of music you choose. Compose music, improvise effectively, and develop a pocket groove.

I emphasize practice routine, becoming musically literate (reading and writing music), and development of personal style. Who is your favorite bass player? We will transcribe (listen to and learn) from recordings of your favorite musicians, and you will develop a vocabulary to incorporate into your own musical language.

I value the versatility of the bass — in your arsenal of tools, you will become familiar with many styles of music. I play professionally in all styles of music, including but not limited to jazz, classical, salsa, funk, samba, pop, bluegrass, reggae, and folk.
