This Dr and her office gets better all the time! Not only is Dr Amar just the best of the best, her secretary Chrystal (new I think) is so sweet and efficient and goes well beyond the normal to be cheerful and helpful. I dont know of a nicer office in Brooklyn or NYC for any Doctor.
Oh the wait time is very short too, but even if it wasnt this is the place to go.

I’ve seen Dr. Amar a few times for my foot pains. I visited her at her Flatbush location– not recommended if you can help it. I definitely prefer the Prospect Park W one. It isn’t a fancy place; it’s an unassuming business a few steps below street level. The office needs some updating. The waiting area isn’t as well-​kept as a Dr’s office should be, and doesn’t match Dr. Amar’s disposition.
I mean, she is one cheerful lady. She makes you feel like you’re her new best friend. She transitions to the actual examination and diagnosis with ease. However, she doesn’t get the full 5 stars because it all felt a bit rushed.
Once she decided on what I was experiencing, it was a mad dash to be rid of me. I am one of those patients that likes to remain well-​informed. This includes knowing the cause, the treatment, and prevention of future troubles. Though she did answer all my inquiries succinctly, I could tell she was always two seconds from opening the exam room door.
There are always people waiting to see her, and since my issue was on the very minor side of the spectrum, she was on the move within 3 – 5 minutes of seeing me. I can understand this business practice, but it still left me feeling ‘politely’ jilted.

In addition to her excellent medical ability, Dr. Amar has a wonderful bedside manner. She listens when you talk to her and is truly concerned about your well being.

Normally, I only write reviews when I am unhappy with the services provided and to warn people about my experiences, but Dr. Amar is GREAT!
I am a competitive soccer player and have had every thing from flat arches to broken toes to a fractured fibula and she has diagnosed and treated each ailment. I recommend her to all of my teammates, family, and friends (who have had more severe problems then me) and everyone has come back to me with rave reviews.
She is kind and caring and very willing to work with many insurances.

Dr. Amar is a really nice lady. She cares about you but has no idea how to diagnose anything.
the first appointment I had I waited an hour to get in to see the doctor. The office is run down and super ghetto with broken items in the bathroom and it is dirty.
I finally saw her. She didn’t take an xray (i broke my toe 8 months prior and was having major problems walking and was in severe pain, I am also only 27 and am super athletic) she just poked my foot said it was swollen and assumed it was tendinitis and then suggested I get an MRI.
It took me 2, yes TWO months to finally get the mri. Now. I am not saying that it was the Dr. s fault entirely, my insurance sucks, but it took her that long to fight and get it authorized. At this point I was in so much pain I could barely walk. I didn’t know what to do. I called the office which is really hard to get in touch with. I called at least 4 times leaving all of my information and crying and never heard back. The secretary is aloof and they do not take care of their patients. She only finally took care of me because I had started to call often basically crying that I have not heard anything from the Dr and was in immense pain. The secretary gave me sass and argued that I was being snarky when rather I was being tenacious and assertive because I could not friggin walk and had been waiting two months to get an MRI. I went into the office again because I literally could not get in contact with Dr. Amar even with talking to the secretary. She then took a live x-​ray and thought that my toe had not healed correctly. Two and half weeks later after days of complaining, Dr. Amar really tried to get my MRI and it finally got processed. I got the MRI and it said nothing really apparent. The Dr. then prescribed me physical therapy and said nothing about my last visit and x-​ray.
LUCKILY. I went to physical therapy. I did not go to the suggested place but rather after my own research I ended up at Rehab One on 5^th ave and 13^th street. They are amazing. They take care of you and care about your pain. I told them about my HORRIBLE experience with Dr. Amar and they even told me that they have only heard horror stories about her and her practice by other patients…
My physical therapist without even x-​ray-​ing my toe said there was something wrong with it and suggested his personal favorite podiatrist, Dr. Feinberg. Their secretary, Glen went above and beyond and even scheduled an appointment that week. EASY.
I went in to the new dr and he took x-​rays and diagnosed my toe as ‘painful synostosis’ meaning my toe was still healing and that instead of having the normal 3 joints in a toe I only had 2 making it even more painful. He explained that I will be fine and that physical therapy, orthodic inserts and wrapping the toe should heal it. He also said he could give me a shot if It was too painful and that if I did not feel better in 8 weeks that I could hypothetically need surgery.
I am very happy I saw him. He took care of me and actually listened to my complaints. He solved my problem and told me exactly why I was in so much pain and I was not belittled or insulted by his wonderful secretary. NEVER GO TO ARTISAN PODIATRY unless you enjoy waiting an hour to be seen in a dirty office with awful help. It is the truth.

Finding her on Zoc Doc was the best choice I made. She gets through her patients pretty timely while still feeling like she listened to you and finding right treatment for your ailments. As soon as she walks through the door, this lady is bubbling from ear to ear and instantly changes your mood. I walked in limping all the way to the right and left limping a tad to the right.
I highly recommend her. she is professional and wants to see you get better. Her friendly demeanor is one that seems sincere and understanding and not one that is fake.

Choosing Dr. Amar wasn’t too difficult. She has more positive reviews than my favorite restaurants.
She’s professional, cordial, easy to relate to, warm, funny, and takes the time to listen to your concerns, and explain/​educate you about the process. She has this cheerful and uplifting way of greeting you upon entering the room that instantly puts you at ease. You are treated more as a friend than as a patient, and what a difference it makes!
Her office has become some sort of a break from my hectic life. Her secretaries aren’t hidden behind a barrage of cubicle partitions, nor do they spend their time fending off all human contact like it is a contagious disease. They are just as personable and enjoyable to speak with as Dr Amar is.
What really cemented how I felt about Dr. Amar was her taking time out of her personal life to check up on how I was doing in the days following my surgeries. Even with my amazing support system, having a doctor do so blew me away. You’re not just some patient. You’re not just a number. You actually matter. It made the emotional toll that a recovery from surgery takes on you that much more bearable.
She is the epitome of what a doctor should be, and a true gem to the medical field.

I went to Dr. Amar after being sorely disappointed by another podiatrist (two hour wait, three minute consultation, still waiting for a call back about my MRI results, which I took upon myself to get on my own 10 days ago).
I was soured on the medical profession, but true to the other Unilocalers reviews Dr. Amar quickly melted my heart. She apologized for the long wait, which was all of 15 minutes. She was friendly, she listened, and at the end, asked if I had any OTHER issues or questions.
Let me recap… I called on Friday and got a next day (Saturday!) appointment. I waited 15 minutes, while reading quality magazines. I did not have to speak at hyperspeed while being hurried out of the office. I was encouraged to ask questions and she wanted to make sure all my issues were resolved.
I had more than half of a mind to keep her to myself, but alas, I highly recommend Dr. Amar.

Ive worked with Dr Amar for over 3 years now in a professional environment and she is one of the hardest working and nicest podiatrists I know. I would highly recommend any of my friends to see her for any of their foot care needs. Even though you are a patient she will treat you like you are a longtime friend. In today’s medical environment, its hard to find someone who cares about your health as much as Dr Amar.

I went to Dr. Amar after finding her and making an appt. on ZocDoc. I’m so glad I did. She is a doctor who can instruct the rest of the medical world on how one should treat patients. She is warm, friendly, professional, and talks to you like a human being. She takes a lot of time to explain your condition and how to treat it. I went with foot pain caused by my long distance running habit that she diagnosed as peroneal tendonitis and would definitely go back for followups and future issues. There is an Xray machine on site which is very convenient. Highly recommended for athletes and regular folks alike. The office wait was only about 5 minutes and a in very comfortable, ‘homey’ kind of space.
