My husband and I come here on all of our special occasions and sometimes even when I crave their delicious risotto. Great service, food, and ambiance! We love AOC Bistro!

The undoubtedly have the BEST coffee that has ever graced my mouth; if you don’t get anything else here to drink, you should at least get the coffee — it’s just wonderful. I got the chance to re-visit here with a friend of mine, for we were on the hunt for brunch, and we were of course, not disappointed. Sitting at our previously assigned table to the far left corner of the establishment by the cracked open windows, was delightful. We started with the snails in garlic appetizer, while she had a bloody mary, and I opted for the bellini(typical contender for my morning booze fix). The snails were beautifully married in their garlic juices, and were melt in your mouth good. By the time we finished these suckers(haha!) we were on our second cup of coffee. For the main courses, I opted for the EGGS«MEDITERRANEE» and my friend got the eggs Benedict. I really can’t tell you which one I liked more, since we only swapped a bite of each other’s dishes. The eggs I had were fluffy and the basil really came through. The sausages were not greasy and were almost as if they were baked; excellent overall. My friend’s poached eggs really stayed runny even after she let them sit on her plate for a while, which is always the point of having a poached egg. The green salad on the side had a very earthly dressing, which tied the whole dish together. Two to three more cups of coffee were consumed. Moral of the story — if you don’t come here for anything but the coffee, you’re going to have a very enjoyable time. The wait staff can’t be any more patient and accommodating, and hey — they are always ready to fill your cup.

I went to AOC Bistro on a Saturday night at 7:30 with my family and we found that the restaurant was relatively empty. Upon arrival, I got one of their cocktails at the bar. The L’Imperialist was good. The vanilla and angostura bitters cut through the rye nicely, giving the drink a good balance. However, I was told that the bar staff did not share tips with the dining staff so it was suggested that we close out the tab as opposed to transferring it over. While it was slightly annoying, it was not a big hassle. Just something to keep in mind. Upon sitting down we discovered a couple of drops of water had fallen from the A/C unit. After pointing this out, thankfully nothing more than those few drops landed between the chairs. But moving onto the food… for appetizers, we ordered the Escargot, the calamari, and the bruschetta. The bruschetta was fresh and the calamari was fried well. I did not get around to the escargot, but those who tried them seemed to enjoy them. The main course fell short of my expectations, I ordered the mussels and found that decent number of them were not cooked long enough for the flavor to really come out. Additionally, there were quite a few that still had some grains of sand in them, which ended up hampering the experience. We also ordered the truffled Macaroni and Cheese. Again, this fell short as it was difficult to taste the truffles. The shell steak stood out as the lone hero in the main courses. It was cooked excellently and the peppercorn sauce did not overwhelm the flavor of the meat. Overall, the ambience of the restaurant was nice as it was quiet and the service was attentive. This might have been due to the fact that there were only about 2 other tables besides ours that were occupied. The main course dragged down what otherwise was shaping up to be a lovely dinner. I would probably try one of the other bistros around the neighborhood before returning back.

A perfect little spot for a simple meal. No frills just simply delicious food. My husband got the poulet and I went with the mussels Provençal. Both dishes came with crispy frites. The large portion of mussels was too large! Next time I will go with the small. What a great intimate spot.

This has become one my favorite Park Slope places to go to. I have had brunch once and dinner at least twice in the last six months. The food was fresh, rich, well prepared. Good french bistro faire… I was even tempted to ask for their recipe for the roux that came with the calamari. The staff and manager /owner(white/Grey hair and mustache) are very welcoming and pleasant. I have asked him many questions and for suggestions. I was never disappointed… I have used both a groupon and cert. there and they were accepted graciously. I hope to sometime soon take advantage of the $ 1 oysters at the bar special partaken with several glasses of wine… Are the tables a little close? maybe in the front when it is very busy but not enough that I find it to be an issue. Great brunch and specials(check times) which is well patronized by families and couples both young and old. Its a bistro with the type of décor you would expect yet it has its own special uniqueness. I wish there were more places like it. Now for those Oysters and wine…

My husband and I went here last Thursday for dinner. We had a gift certificate from and I’ve been wanting to try a French cuisine place. I can confidently say I will not be back to this place. The restaurant itself — décor, atmosphere, staff — leaves a lot to be desired. It’s a small place, which is expected in Park Slope, but the use of space is used poorly. The tables are very close together and your butt is basically in the face of the table next to you when squeezing in. The booth type seat I sat on had duct tape. There was only one waiter for the entire restaurant so the service was a bit on the slow side. The food was meh. We ordered the calamari for appetizer and it was just okay. I ordered the Classic Coq Au Vin, which did not state the chicken had bones. Again, just an okay dish. My husband ordered the Hanger Steak Special, steak and wine for $ 17. We then got dessert Crème Brulee and some Apple Tart. Both sub-par. When the check came, we presented our $ 25 gift certificate. The waiter said he wasn’t sure if he could do it being in the fine print it said«not valid on specials». So he went and grabbed the manager. When the manager came to our table he said there was no way to use the certificate as my husband had ordered the $ 17 Hangar Special. He said he could use it if he charged us full price for the steak. I was a little taken aback, being as he was the manager — he could basically do what he wanted. Take the $ 25 off and just say not to worry. But we were fine with him charging us the extra $ 7 to allow us to use our certificate. When the final bill came I noticed he even charged for the poor excuse for of a glass of house red. Running a restaurant 101 — get repeat customers. Maybe throw the glass on the house since you«have» to charge us for the full price Hangar. So an extra $ 7 for the steak and $ 9 for 4oz of wine. The most outrageous part was the total price, $ 94 for one app, two entrees, and two desserts. All for OKAY food, totally over priced. With our certificate we still ended up paying $ 80. What a waste of time. Definitely left a poor taste in my mouth.

I’m not exactly sure HOWAOC Bistro is able to offer $ 1 fresh oysters every day, all year round… but I won’t let myself think about it too much. They were tasty and fresh and served with a yummy vinaigrette. The bar is small, but the turnover is fairly quick and the bartender was friendly and attentive. The menu seems a little bit overpriced but nothing out of the ordinary for a french bistro.

It was a while ago. Myself, whom I shall refer to as the passionate horn-kebob skunk Pepé Le Pew, and my girl Penelope Pussycat, being directionally-challenged, somehow found our way here after searching for much too long. The escargot had it going on, had a certain je né sais quoi. The wine was mediocre. The other things, were ‘meh’; so as a whole it wasn’t a memorable experience. Rather, it was a ‘meh’-morable experience, apart from having a great night out with Penelope otherwise. I do remember the waiter messing up our order and giving us beer-battered mussels instead of the beer-battered shrimp we ordered. Pee-yu! I’m satisfied that we got something that was at least battered, seeing as that’s how I like my women; but messing up our order and then blaming us for their screw-up is not cool. When it came time to pay, things felt L’ouverpriced. The staff may serve French fries and speak French, but they aren’t French to me just as Penelope Pussycat isn’t a skunk, just as such the food isn’t even authentically French food. Au contraire, maybe the staff is French-Moroccan though, so it’s close. Sufferin’ succotash! Not much l’amour here. I give this place 3 Pepé Le Pews out of 5. That’s All Folks!

If you like waiting two and half hours for eggs Benedict then come here. If you like being ignored by your waiter then come here. If you like a luke warm reception from the barely capable manager to your enquiry then come here. The French, I am fairly certain, would cringe at the joint. Our waiter forgot to put our order in and only thought to tell us at about the 1.5 hour mark. And then it took another 45 min to get 3 eggs Benedict, a chicken sandwich, and an omelette. So we have 2 and a half hours for that. And the manager, whom we had to drag over, her solution was 2 bloody marys. UPDATE: she took 50% off the tab. Still not enough, in my opinion. So, you decide. You want to come here and spend 2&½ hours of a beautiful, sunny Sunday afternoon in a dark Faux-French restaurant waiting for an egg, covered in pre-made sauce on a Thomas’s English muffin(wots that? $.35?) AVOID.

I loved this place. I brought my daughter here for our dinner date and she loved it as much as I did. I ordered the small mussels in the white wine and shallots, went head over heels. For dinner I had the hangar steak with this awesome cheesy potato scallops with a vinaigrette salad. Mmmmm!!! I ordered my princess the kids cheeseburger with fries. She was well taken care of. The windows the atmosphere was cute and cozy. Also glad they had paper on the table because my daughter entertained her self coloring the table. Even had a drink I forgot the name, it’s was fruity and soooo tasty!

I never expected much in this place. On a Saturday night, I decided to make a reservation for party of 3 before heading here at 7pm. This place is kinda busy on a Saturday night. I read some reviews saying that this place is usually dead??? wow. I guess I was wrong. We ordered the escargot as appetizer. cooked with butter and garlic was really really good. The bread basket that they bring wasn’t warm at all and so we dip the bread with the butter and garlic sauce the escargot has. It was delicious. As entrée — duck confit: Honestly I had better one but AOC bistro has it really tender, the texture was good. The side they served, I have no idea what it is. I think is cauliflower purée and some cheese? It was yummy! — Seafood ‘bouillabaisse’: It’s a seafood soup. I love seafood in general so this dish is good. my bf’s mom enjoyed this dish because it’s not overly heavy. — Lamb special of the day: we asked for medium and it was perfectly cooked. the sides were asparagus and potato grilled with some cheese, so it creates a crunchy topping. I actually love it. it tasted like mash potato with cheese skin. They ran out of the desserts that I would ordered that night. too bad we didn’t get to sample their desserts. I never had high expectation so I guess I like AOC Bistro. and service was great. well. just like any other restaurant.

We order two entrees — the hangar steak and the pork chop. The steak dish was far better as the pork chop failed miserably. It was an uneven cut, with the bone part thicker than the fatty edge and sadly the chef who prepared it overcompensated by overcooking it — very dry. Not only that, I there was a third of another pork chop on the plate. Apparently they didn’t have any medium sized chops, so they had to give me a trapezoidal one and sliced a piece of another one to compensate. Sadly when I reached the bone, I noticed it getting progressively pinker. Which was ok — until blood spewed. I sent it back and when the waiter returned with my dish, he also returned with the chef’s excuse that the bone was really big. Won’t be back.

I dropped in here with a buddy mine for the mussels and frites specials. Enormous orders and nice size mussels. The sauces were good but not off the hook but the quality and quantity were an outstanding value. Nice selection of beers and great service from beginning to end.

Great place with romantically warm and cozy décor and friendly staff. One of the good places to grab lunch dinner or just a quick dessert after some raman across the street ;) Tuna tartar is one of the best i tried in a while, very fresh comllimented with green onion making it an interesting taste. Great meety burgers !! Few but very well selected bottled beers ales and pilsners.

My wise belly told me to never turn down a food challenge. So when sis handed me the Groupon with the admonition that it expired in 3 days, I picked up the gauntlet. Yes, it was the Lunar New Year, everyone was busy, my work schedule was tight, and my friends thought Brooklyn was best navigated by those with proper training – like John Glenn. Thankfully, other sis was could not resist the lure of two large plates of mussels with moule frites. What we got was a mountain of mussels, each. Sis estimated the serving size at 5 lbs, I gauged it definitely more than 3 lbs, possibly 4 lbs. We got one of each, the tomato based provencale and the mariniere. I liked that both were not too salted, the broth delicate tasting but thought both could have used a bit more garlic. I thought the provencale had more flavor. Take it from two Boil and Upstate fans, A.O.C., garlic and shallots are not to be feared. The onions in the broth were fine shredded circles, but I thought not cooked down enough to give it the best flavor. Perhaps no one ordered mussels for brunch and they had to scramble. The moule frites were shoestrings, cooked Belgium style, thin and delicious. A tasty meal that went down well; indeed the waiter, when he came to collect my shells constantly, seemed surprised by my empty bowl. Filled me belly with mussels indeed! A steal with the Groupon that gave two glasses of champagne(quite good, too), the large mussels plate. would have been a bargain at the regular price of $ 18 a bowl with the frites. The décor is indeed like a French bistro, wood tables and accents, a chalkboard listing specials and) the oysters in season. The large windows gave it an airy feel, though I could see a dim romantic ambience for the night. Service on a busy Saturday afternoon was courteous and efficient, without the rudeness sometimes reserved for Groupon users. The manager, a white haired, gracious elderly man(we assumed he was the manager, even told my sister she could take her remaining mussels home, as long as she shelled them(something about carrying out shells being a health violation). A nice place with a relaxed vibe that I would visit again or refer people to. It seemed like a neighborhood favorite, doing a brisk business on a Saturday. I did note to the elderly gentleman that they calculate the price off the Groupon price and hence their suggested tips are too low. So if they do that to you, and service is good, please remember to tip according to the original price so the waitstaff doesn’t get stiffed.

It is one of my favorite French restaurants. Everything I’ve tried so far was phenomenal! I love their Duck Leg Confit, my wife enjoys Daurade Souce Vierge. They also have specials that are mot on a menu, i had a pleasure of trying their Blanquette de Veau last night, and it was amazing! I would highly recommend this place!

I love their mushroom risotto. Preferred it without seafoods. Not so sure about French onion soup. Spinach crêpe was a alternative healthy choice:-) mimosa or Bloody Mary would do well!!!

Ordered from seamless and was surprised that they even had steak! I pass by this place all time and didn’t even take the chance to look at their menu. We ordered the crab & shrimp fritter which was so delicious! For dinner the NY strip steak with truffle macaroni and cheese. The steal was cooked perfectly and was delicious! Truffle Mac and cheese was very good except the macaroni was a little burnt, but overall very good! This place makes my list of favorites in Park Slope.

The mussels l’espagnole were delicious. There was a ton of them in a very tasty garlicky and sausagey broth. I thought the sausage would be weird, but it meshed very well and with some broth and some bread, it was quite delectable. The bread itself was a bit stiff and meh, though. On the recommendation of our great waitress, I ordered the spinach-stuffed trout. I really enjoyed the taste of the fish and the glazed mushrooms in mustard sauce. The waitress definitely earned her tip with that recommendation. I also had a few drinks with my meal. The caipirinha was a bit disappointing, especially for the price. Just didn’t have the zest I’m accustomed to. The martinique, on the other hand, was nice and fruity. It was a slow night when we went, so there was another woman with a thick accent who was either a hostess or the owner walking around from table to table greeting everyone. She was super nice.
