Of all the italian restaurants that I’ve been in the US(and the list is extensive) this is one of my top-3. The food is great and the service is very good ! Located on Bronx little Italy, they surely do know how to cook authentic without the need of putting garlic everywhere!

Just ate here and sorry to say, this place sucked! I don’t know what it had going well in the past, but it is not worth any special trip whatsoever. It gets a 2 because the food was ¾ edible, but unbelievably expensive for the Bronx. They’re charging based on some glorious past I guess. Service and presentation was GREATLY lacking. All the Italians have left this neighborhood. It all seems false, and I can see right through it. This is simply a business, and there is ZERO passion for running a restaurant. Good riddance. Fool me once…

Unfortunately I can no longer recommend Tra di Noi. They’ve shifted service to just a sister or 2 running the show and it is clear they don’t have experience running a restaurant. Every time I’ve gone in, they’re fussing endlessly over reservations, turning people down at the door for no reason, and making people wait unnecessarily long for tables even when they have a reservation. If reservations are that difficult for you, why even offer them? Last time was the last straw, where they rushed me and my girlfriend out so they could take our table. Mind you there were no less than 3 tables open already. Their lack of knowledge is costing this place money, and the brusque way they go about their jobs is costing this place customers. To make matters worse, I’ve noticed the food slide down in terms of both quality and quantity. This has been happening the last few times I’ve come but I’ll just highlight the last visit. We paid $ 12 for the mozzarella caprese appetizer, which consisted of 4 tiny slices of tomato and slivers of mozzarella. The tomato had little flavor. The mozzarella was good, but they buy it down the block at Casa della Mozzarella like most restaurants in the neighborhood, all of which will give you double the portion here for the same price. The red snapper oreganata was the small filet of fish I’ve ever been served in a restaurant. The piece was very thin and only 5″ long at best. The breadcrumbs were very sparse, making it basically just fish sauteed in a pain with breadcrumbs thrown on top. Even worse it had the distinct overly-fishy flavor of something that was not fresh(I have red snapper a lot so I can tell when it’s not fresh). The chef/owner, instead of focusing on the food in the kitchen, bothered me about waiting by the bathroom door last time I was in here. These guys are going off the rails and I sincerely hope they get it together. I may try again in the distant future as I had some good meals here in the past, but otherwise I’ll stick to the other options in the neighborhood.

Good not great! Expensive relative to value. 33 $ for a small appetizer and lasagna-no drinks for one. Quaint but wondering about the ratings in the door.

the food was good or possibly better. however when the bill came, the waitress had added one dollar to each dish. when we inquired about the apparent error, without apology she changed the bill. the revised bill was added incorrectly and once again we had to point out the overcharge. we will never go back.

Portions are very small and are pricey I Ordered a small size order of pasta with tomato sauce for my daughter and they charged me $ 11. The food taste good but your are still hungry after paying $ 30 for entrée and, believe me I am not a big eater. And it is not kid friendly place.

It was our lucky day that after visiting the zoo we happen to exit on the Southern Blvd/Belmont neighborhood side. We were headed up to the Botanical Gardens but we were starving. After a quick Unilocal I noticed a bunch of restaurants in the area. «Hmmm» I said, «Seems to be a lot of Italian restaurants» Well, not only did we stumble upon Bronx Little Italy(NY’s better one) but on Trattoria Tra di Noi and a nice day just got better. Hubby and I have a habit of sharing so we can try more new dishes. So I ordered the Fettuccine Carbonara and hubby ordered the Pollo alla Scarpariello(chicken w/Rosemary, white wine & garlic) which came with potatoes and French cut string beans. Both dishes were very, very good. The carbonara(with fresh fettuccine al dente) had a nice light sauce, not the overly creamy sauce that most other places serve. The bacon was rough chopped and meaty. The Scarpariello was excellent! The chicken medallions were lightly dredged in flour and perfectly sautéed in the wine sauce that had chopped red peppers with whole cloves of garlic and rosemary. The potatoes seemed to have been roasted but left tender and the string beans lightly streamed. I also had a cappuccino and that very good as well. We had come at the tail end of a busy Sunday lunch so it was a bit crowed. Regardless, service was good with water filling and follow up. What I really liked was that a few people who came in and some of the tables that were already there were greeted warmly by name showing to me that this establishment is part of a close neighborhood where the owners, workers and patrons live amongst each other. That warmed my heart, and made me vow to come back soon to both Tra di Noi and the Belmont/Little Italy neighborhood.

Completely Racist!!! My family Went in to this establishment @5:30pm on a sat evening and were turned away and refused service for not having a reservation although there were 8 empty tables. When I mentioned that despite not having a reservation, that there were in fact 8 empty tables and I found it hard to believe she had 8 separate reservations all with in the same time. We left and went to eat somewhere else and when we returned and passed this racist restaurant, behold they still had 6 empty tables. There were no persons of color as a part of the staff and obviously no patrons of color either. My grandparents have owned a restaurant for 20 years and unless you are serving $ 300 plates you can not afford to turn down walk in and possibly repeat customers. This is a discriminatory establishment who I am now glad did not get my hard earned ethnic dollars. My husband and I were shamed in front of our young impressionable daughter. It’s a shame racism is so prevalent in 2015. I recommend people of any ethnic background or any supporters of equality not patronize this place! Shame on you!

This was my first trip to Arthur Avenue and I’m not sure what I was expecting given the word on the street. This restaurant is completely unassuming, informal without being casual and the service is very friendly. The waitstaff was attentive and helpful and the meals came quickly. We shared a house salad, which was very tasty but very basic. My husband loved his lasagna bolognese, which was drowned in gravy. I ordered the carbonara, which was good, though the pasta was heavy and the gravy was a little too salty. It was a solid meal, but I just wasn’t as impressed as I have been with other Italian restaurants we have frequented in midtown and the Village.

Tra Di Noi a little place in the Bronx is outstanding! I had the chicken cacciatore in a rosemary and garlic sauce with the bones and it was great! It reminds me of my grandmas homemade Italian food, which made me very happy! The potatoes were very good it had a little sprinkle of rosemary and it was delicious. For dessert, I had the gelato and it was good! It’s like your typical Italian gelato. Overall it was very very good and this is one of the great places to go on Arthur Avenue!

Just really not a special place. Simple red sauce dishes done only average. Service fine, not great. Price sorta high, not crazy. As i said, just not special or memorable. No need to come to arthur Ave for something you can probably get in yr own hoods.

Really enjoyed our dinner here tonight. Very fast service and outstanding food. A two year old with our group loved the clams so much she ate two platefuls. The Trofie al Pesto I ordered was excellent, as was the rest of the food we ordered.

If you’re craving delicious, simple, satisfyingly elegant Italian food, come to Tra di Noi. As my boyfriend has said multiple times since our first visit a few weeks ago, «The lamb ragu was one of the best meals I’ve ever had». Now, that may seem like high praise, but really, everything we got that night was amazingly well cooked in just the simplest preparation that highlighted the ingredients. We came in after a Yankee’s game, and everyone in the restaurant was friendly and sparked up a conversation about the Yanks and #2, lots of families, and regulars, you could tell. Our waitress was efficient, fast, friendly. I was actually really surprised how quickly everything came out. Then again, it was only about 5:30 on a Sunday. On the table: — House red wine, delicious and exactly the fruity /dry combo I was looking for. — Clams oreganata, which weren’t much to look at, honestly, but were the most tender clams I have ever tasted. Seriously magic. — Lamb chitarrini, as mentioned before the best pasta /meal my boyfriend ever had. — Bronzino in a lemon sauce: filleted perfectly, not one bone, beautifully tender. — Lobster tail, again, perfectly cooked. — The lobster and the bronzino came with some veggies, green beans and potatoes with an obscene amount of garlic — perfect; one of the highlights of the meal which is saying something for green beans, which are one of the only vegetables I usually shy away from. We finished with some wonderful cappuccino, just a bit of cocoa powder on top, and left with smiles on our faces. Will be back.

This reminded me of the Italian restaurant Billy Joel sings about. I’ve only been to three restaurants on Arthur Avenue, but I think this is the best one! It’s a great value. It’s great tasting food served on red and white checkered tablecloths without a fancy presentation. The baby clams antipasti had the most delicious sauce. My friend had to ask for more bread to sop the sauce up! Then we shared the calamari fritti which was amazing. Our entrees were also shared because we wanted to get the big picture and we wanted leftovers! We got both. The veal Marsala with mushrooms was so tasty. The special risotto was cooked to perfection. But the best was the lasagne bolognese. My goal is to someday make a bolognese sauce that tastes like this. YUM! Truly wonderfully cooked food in a family owned restaurant with very friendly and happy people working there.

Order the grilled swordfish. Which was special of night. Very simple. Boring. It Was good but the overall presentation was meh, I guess thats what you can expect with the picnic table décor. Good cappuccino, very italian, those italian are known for good cappuccino.

It’s OK, but if you’re going out on Arthur Ave, there are much better places to get dinner. It started off well. The fresh bread they gave us was great and the olive oil they supplied for dipping was to die for, and the caprese salad was nice and fresh. I probably would have been happy with just that, to be honest. Things went downhill when the entrees came. My boyfriend and I ordered two different chicken options. They came out looking pretty much the same, as if they had chicken just waiting around in the back, and they slather different sauce on it depending on what you order. Definitely overpriced for what you are getting. The service was great since we were one of two tables there for dinner on a Wednesday night, and a woman who I assume was the owner or one of them was very friendly, and came over to the table a few times to make sure we were enjoying ourselves. That being said, I don’t think I would go back based on the food.

As someone who grew up in this neck of the woods and coming from my mom who was Born and raised in this section of the Bronx, knowing all the amazing restaurants and pastry shops this is by far on top of the places that need to be checked out! Its small quaint homestyle feel with a dim romantic feel is serving up some of the best home style Italian cooking the Bronx has to offer! This place is family owned which makes it that much more Authentic. The staff is extremely friendly and cater To all your needs! The food Is amazing and proportions and generous and amazing down to the last drop! Each item on the menu is fresh and made to order this will not be a place that will disappoint !
