So very disappointed :(. This restaurant was the highlight of my birthday every year as a teenager when I lived in the Bronx. The chicken Parmesan and the potato croquette was my favorite. I walked in one night because I happened to be in the area and I even took picture of the outside to post it on social media as a memory. As soon as I walked in, this musty odor took over my nose… Ughhh…It was the smell of a dirty wet carpet. I went straight to the restroom to wash my hands prior to being seated and thought to myself«something doesn’t seem right here .» I walked passed the kitchen and saw the entire staff with beards. There goes facial hair on my chicken Parmesan. Ummm nooooo thank you … I will stick to PINES !!! My ultimate fav:)

Ambience =4 Food = 3 Service= 2 Came here even with 3 star review due to its history fornan early dinner. There were 5 tables that had guests. The waiter was too huried didnt even tell his name or welcomed us and didnt believe in explaining things. Drinks were ok, calamri was good. Veal marsala was not to the standard and neither was Shrimp prosciuto. Had to asknthe waiter to fill the glasses for water and put forks as they had taken them away. The staff seemed bored. We skipped the desserts.

Went here with my Husband, Brother and his Fiancée this past Sunday. Our waiter Ralph was so down to earth and friendly. The stuffed artichoke hearts were probably one of the best I’ve ever had and my dish– Chicken Ann & Tony was perfect. Having a chef as our father has spoiled us(we are pretty critical about food at restaurants) and this place really brought it home. In fact, very much similar to the style of cooking my father had. AND… the homemade cheesecake is an absolute must! We enjoyed it so much we got a 2nd slice! Bravo!

Lunch and I ordered two appetizers! Eggplant rollatineni and seafood salad,(shrimp, scallops and calamari! Delisious, fresh. The sauce on the rollatineni was flavorful, the cheese delightful! The seafood salad was so fresh and bursting with the sea flavors! The place was clean, nice ambiance and great service. Highly recommend!

I ate here with my boyfriend, and the food was just not good! ugh — the pasta is not fresh, sauce too bland, seafood tasted frozen and re-fried, and my boyfriend’s dish was too greasy. The service weird, slow and the owner is super rude ~ :P Basically anything on the menu I can cook better at home, which Yes I kind of expect a little better from a restaurant. … just saying…

I watched Ann & Tony’s on the CNBC show Consumed — the real restaurant business — and the owners, staff were such characters that I had to pay them a visit. I been to other places I seen on reality TV and most of the time I am disappointed. The people portrayed on TV are not there, or the entire show was obviously staged for TV. Not here! What I saw on TV was exactly what I saw in person. The entire staff was there and in rare form. The owners were really cool, and authentic. With that said, I recommend you watch the show Consumed, and definitely pay Ann & Tony’s a visit. I ordered chicken parm, what can you say about chicken parm? Chicken cheese and sauce lol. But what I can say is that we now live in the era of Corporate Restaurants, so it is a pleasure when you order the same dish as your friend and it comes out slightly different. Perhaps a little more sauce, a bit bigger, little less cheese… That is the true magic of Ann & Tony’s. The chef is not following the strict guidelines of the corporate cookbook. He is serving up food, the same way he serves it to his family. I started my meal with the Triple Shot Espresso Martini(as seen on TV) and it was delicious. Wow! I could of had five more. Everything else was equally delicious, and I will be back again.

The menu has a lot of options, and as you’d expect, some are better than others. The chicken cardinale is very good. Pasta dishes are flavorful but often a little heavy. I like their cheesecake. However, I have an issue with the service at Ann & Tony’s. I have found that they really turn on the charm if things are quiet, but if it gets crowded, they become very inattentive and unwilling to accommodate the needs and requests of their customers. Considering how busy this and other restaurants in the area can get, you’d think they’d be more adept at handling a full room… or at the very least stay pleasant while trying to do so. Overall, in terms of both food and service, Ann & Tony’s is hit-or-miss. I wouldn’t completely warn anyone away from coming here, but there are other eateries on Arthur Avenue that I’d recommend first.

I like this place very much. The food is very much like homemade — not exactly Mario Batali but straightforward, fresh and well done. Hot antipasto plate includes mozzarella wrapped in toast, eggplant, stuffed mushroom, calamari and shrimp. Pretty skimpy tho and the calamari was mushy — prob was frozen. Whole plate not too bad but had much better. Linguini with white clams was good, skimpy again on clams tho and broccoli rabe side nice and fresh, not overcooked. Lousy wine list and surprisingly expensive bottles — by glass mediocre selections but reasonable. Nothing terrible. Best thing here is friendly staff. Again, I like it here but there are better places nearby tho.

I also try not to post negatively, but think people deserve honest feedback. Not the worst place I’ve ever been, but not worth it… My girlfriend and I went here for Valentines day recently. We weren’t expecting breakthrough cuisine, we were just looking for good old school italian food. We started with stuffed artichoke and caprese salad. The artichoke was saturated in oil and showed no freshness, it was just limp and soaked. The caprese salad was pretty standard, wouldn’t have any major complaints about it except for the fact that I found a thick hair on a piece of cheese after we had eaten the majority of the plate. For entrees, my girlfriend got a mushroom pasta dish, which I guess would be the highlight of the meal, it was good. I got the shrimp fra diavolo, the sauce had good flavor, but the shrimp were fairly small, overcooked, and there were only 6 of them. For over $ 20 I would have expected a more generous portion of shrimp. Overall, food was mediocre and overpriced, not to mention a hair in it. The place has that old school vibe if that’s all you are looking for, however I left feeling disappointed in the food and feeling a bit ripped off.

One of my favorites on Arthur Ave. Prices aren’t outrageous and the food is pretty good. Also, the staff is great. We would probably eat here every other month when we lived down the street. The staff always would make sure water was filled and would usually know our order before we got menus. I always get the Chicken parm or gnocchi. I only wish the side of pasta that came with the chicken was a larger portion. As for the dessert, order the red velvet cake! Will need to get back here soon.

I came here on a Friday night and ordered baked ziti w ricotta and chicken cutlet for take out. After paying about 23 $ for my dish I was expecting some amazing food. Instead what I got was extremely soft chicken cutlet of very cheap quality and soft baked ziti with no ricotta.; it was basically like a soup. I don’t understand why it is so hard for a place to execute such a simple dish. If your going to charge this kind of money I would expect quality. Any Pizzaria could have made a better dish for sure and for half the price. I don’t get it, I won’t try another dish when you can’t even make something so simple, on the other hand I will give them 2 stars because it didn’t taste absolutely horrible, but don’t give me Pizzaria food for restaurant prices

I try not to post negative reviews, but I was so disappointed after looking forward tonight to trying an authentic Arthur Avenue Italian restaurant. As a «foodie», I should be embarrassed not to have eaten in this«little Italy» before. After researching some of the most talked about places, I skipped Dominick’s only because of the inability to make a reservation and went here. I love all the Batali/Bastianich restaurants, but when I want good casual Italian, I stay in NJ and go to Bocconi. I don’t always need extravagant dishes. Simplicity can be great with FRESH ingredients. A large group was leaving when we arrived for our 8:15 reservation, and that left only two other tables full. We started with the stuffed artichoke appetizer. I know everyone has the same image of a whole artichoke topped with bread crumbs, etc. Well out came 4 artichoke hearts with a few surrounding yellow leaves topped with crumbs and garlic. Unfortunately it was not baby artichokes but rather had the vinegar taste of the marinated artichokes that come in a jar! I hoped the veal limone would be better. It was supposed to be dipped in egg batter with a lemon sauce. which to most is Francese. The cutlets had a wet batter hanging off with a watery lemon sauce. The meat was somewhat tender, and the flavor was okay, but the appearance was unappealing. The side dish of string beans was either sitting in a steam pot all night or the beans were canned because they were so overcooked with hardly a hint of original green and mushy. I can only judge by this one visit but can’t imagine it was just an off night with these kinds of short cuts. Sorry to say, but in no way is this or should this be a representation of Italian food. We skipped dessert and headed to Rocco’s on Bleecker for salvation.

I came here with family yesterday for the Ferragosto celebration, and after checking out Unilocal prior to entering, I warned my family that this place had disappointing reviews. Welp, I was right! Service was super SLOW, and the restaurant was really outdated. It felt like we were transported back to the 70’s in a scene from The Godfather or something. I ordered the meat ravioli… and received precisely 5 of them. They were overcooked and had no flavor. My grandparents ordered 2 veal dishes and they were both drowned in sauce. If you want good Italian food, go to 089!

I came here for the first time on a recommendation from a friend. I would say the Italian food is above average compared to other places I have tried. When I compare Italian restaurants, I compare the gnocchi. Why? It’s the only thing I cannot make myself. Most places make gnocchi into mush. Not this restaurant. They were perfectly cooked and delicious. The tomato sauce tasted fresh and homemade. The other people at my table got… Veal, baked ziti, and spaghetti. They all loved their meals, too.

Good food. Poor service. It was clear to us from the moment we walked in the wait staff was disappointed we arrived. The food however was good and plenty of it but we needed to ask for water refills and another round of drinks. The wait staff and towards the end of our meal, the chef, found it far more important to sit at a table near the kitchen and stare at their phones. Like I said the food was great, but the waiters clearly wanted to have the night off We will return, but not on a holiday.

Dear friends and decent wine made this a great evening. The food … well, not so much. The fried calamari was not crispy. What is the point of the calories if it is not crunchy! One in our party really enjoyed her chicken with artichoke hearts, a meal she has had before and loved, but the rest of us thought our meals were just OK. Not a rave review considering it is located in the midst of Little Italy. Disappointing.
