EASIEST MOVE EVER! I moved within NYC last week and can not stop singing the praises of the team with Shleppers! Gonzalo, Carlos and Jesus were a dream team – highly professional, helpful, courteous and kind. They ensured that all of my belongings were safe and secure, and were very receptive to any concerns I had about fragile items. They helped me move into my new place seamlessly and truly went above and beyond in helping me settle in and arrange my furniture. I would HIGHLY recommend shleppers to anyone looking for a professional moving team that is reasonably priced.

I’ve just completed two moves with Schleppers in the last few weeks and was very happy with my choice in moving companies. I’m compelled to write a review because I have seen negative reviews of the company. My experience (and the experience of a friend that recently used Schleppers to move from FL to NY) was great! The crews were polite, careful with my furniture and didn’t track any dirt onto my new floors. Someone from Schleppers offices called in the middle of both moves to check in with me and make sure that I was happy with how things were going, and their office was also very expedient in getting the proper certificates of insurance necessary for my condo building. The price for the move was reasonable, they were prompt, didn’t damage anything and courteous throughout. Moving is stressful and I hope that I will not have to do it again for a long time — but when that time comes, Schleppers will be the first company I call.

Cannot recommend enough — particularly Raul (foreman), Francis, Barry, Peter and Trench. I’ve never used Unilocal before but my experience with these guys was so great that I need to let people know. We moved houses on Sunday — two truck job — and it was a very hot day with lots of hills and stairs. These guys made the whole day go as smoothly as possible and did such a fantastic job. Cannot imagine a better experience, particularly considering how stressful moving is supposed to be. My hats off to Raul, Francis, Barry, Peter and Trench. Next time we move I’ll be requesting them again for sure.

I Hired Schelppers this past December to move from New York to North Carolina. The physical move went well and the men were very professional as well as my salesperson.

I should have used them for my first move… Just moved from NYC to Yonkers. Gerard and his crew are an outstanding team. Everyone was so mindful and cautious with every little piece of furniture and belonging. Moving day was hot as hell… This guys worked their butts off. Just their mannerism and how careful they were with everything is enough for me to use them again and recommend them to others.

Had a great experience moving with Schleppers. The foreman Timothy and his crew helped us get us moved in record time! They even fixed a sofa bed which was in need of repair! Glad we had good fortune with them.

Shleppers was great — they had the lowest price I found, and the workers were very efficient and organized. This was the first time I paid someone to pack my things, and it was well worth it. Zero complaints on the movers’ part!
The only thing they could have improved was providing me with the cell phone number of one of the actual movers in advance. I couldn’t contact anyone at their office the day of my move because it was a weekend, and I wanted to tell them about a road closing on my block. It made the movers late, and it could have been avoided if they had given me a phone number. But once they arrived, everything went great!

I would give this company no stars if that was an option on Unilocal.We used them to move from nyc to s fl. They claim to specialize in long distance relocation. As if moving isn’t stressful enough, the crew packed up my condo. My building had strict times for moving. The crew took a very long time. I had commissioned for full packing. The movers dis not check all cabinets and drawers and left several of my belongings behind. Then they were supposed to store my belongings and deliver them to my home in Florida when it was ready. When I called them to arrange for delivery, it took several days to get a response. I had no idea what was going on & became concerned. Eventually, they informed me my belongings were essentially being held hostage at the storage facility, and that they were trying to negotiate to get my belongings. This caused a serious delay and much anguish on my part. When I finally did receive my items, way delayed, some missing, and damaged. The movers who brought them to my house refused to set anything up, as I had contracted for. They told me they don’t work for Schleppers and were only delivering as a courtesy???
When I called Schleppers to report this, they did absolutely NOTHING! The insurance that they claim for your items is bs. They did nothing to compensate me. It is sad bc I see their moving trucks all around nyc. What a horrific experince!

This was my second time using Schleppers. The first time was 5 years ago and the experience then was really perfect. Moving is so stressful and it’s really imperative to have people around who are positive and make things easier. The crew five years ago was amazing and the crew yesterday, equally so.
They were prompt to the minute. They were meticulous and careful.
The move 5 years ago was from a house to the apartment.
This time it was a move literally around the corner, so no truck was needed. Instead they so careful wrapped each piece and used dollies to bring them over as the other part of the team was wrapping and preparing.
The cost of the move was very reasonable and fair. I tipped about 30% and bought them lunch which they didn’t eat while working and took it with them.
Super great experience.
The only thing I’d do differently next time would be to use their packing and unpacking service.
But let’s hope that’s not for quite a long time!

Could not have asked for a more seamless move!
The movers were professional, quick and took care of everything. Would definitely recommend to someone who has a move coming up. The Wardrobe Boxes are a must-​have for moving hanging clothes.

This is the first time I used movers, and I scheduled them through Zootly. Until I used Schleppers I didn’t know moving could be so pleasant and easy! I was skeptic about them since the other reviews are mixed. But boy they had skills! They knew what they were doing and moved fast as a ninja! Very courteous and professional! They were just a little late in coming for the pickup, which can be improved.

We recently moved from NYC to Westchester with Shleppers and the move + communication around the move were fantastic. First, someone came out to our apartment to take an inventory of everything we owned for an accurate, flat-​rate pricing for both packing and moving. The price was reasonable and in line with other estimates we received, but a coworker had recommended Shleppers personally so we went with them. Shleppers communicated with us a few times before the move via email to remind us about our date, give us moving tips and help with change of address forms.
The movers showed up on time for packing day, and were efficient, polite and professional. It was clear they had been doing this job for a while with Shleppers and were not random subcontracted people. They worked quickly but carefully in packing everything from our clothes to dishes to glasses. When we unpacked, nothing was damaged — it was all wrapped perfectly. They were on time for moving day — even a bit early — and handled everything with care as they loaded it into their truck. They were very attentive to any questions or concerns we had. Finally, all of the boxes, items and furniture made it unharmed and were dropped off in the right spots in our house.
All of the moving companies I evaluated on Unilocal had some negative reviews, and since I was concerned about this, I emailed our evaluator back to ask him further about Shleppers’ reviews. The COO then contacted me and assured we would have VIP, professional movers and to not worry about the reviews (he said many were fake — jury is still out on what I think about that… but it all worked out great for me.) So I recommend them highly, and if you are concerned about reviews then just contact them in advance.

We used Shleppers for our intra Manhattan move last month. From scheduling the in apartment estimate appointment with Nick to the minute Oscar and his moving team left our new apartment, we had an absolutely wonderful experience. I was initially cautious to hire them because their Unilocal reviews were mixed, but their competitive pricing and constant contact swayed me.
Oscar and his team arrived by 9am and packed up our entire kitchen (more than an average amount of things) and apartment within hours of arrival. They had us fully unloaded (and spent the time with us deciding where each piece of furniture should go) by 2pm. Not only were they absolute pleasures to spend the morning with, but they did an impeccable job with our move. They made it seem effortless. I will be using Shleppers for any future moves and HIGHLY recommend them.

My husband and I had never hired movers before and have nothing to compare our experience to, but I will definitely call Shleppers again.
We moved within the same building. We had an arrival time of 9 – 10 am. Herb, the foreman, called at 8:15 to say they were in the area looking for parking, and that they could come early if we were ready, otherwise they would arrive for 9am. We were ready, but liked that he was sensitive enough that we might NOT be.
There were 3 guys, and everything went smoothly — we were into our new place before noon.

RUN in the other direction! Worst movers EVER! My move was SO bad on every level that I had «Better Get Baquero» on NBC do an on air segment on NBC Local News. They wouldn’t even respond the them!
They lost my valuables, lied from beginning to end of the move including the whereabouts of the truck. My belongings were delivered weeks late and tons of damages.
When trying to rectify the situation they hide. They don’t answer phone calls, emails and just wish the situation away. Pathetic.
One friend used them and one of the movers was smoking marijuana in his apartment stairwell.
It doesn’t get worse then this company. They need to close their doors… Horrible.

A mixed experience. Their work is good but THEIR QUOTING IS SLEAZY. The packing was great, the moving was fine with nothing broken, and the unpacking was terrible (e.g. books stacked the wrong way and with spines hidden, careless placement, and they rushed out at the end with some boxes not even unpacked).
But the quoting/​pricing was sleazy. (And mirrored my experience with them the previous time I moved, so I believe it’s how they intentionally work, or just their culture.)
BOTH MOVES, on their written quote to move everything, they left plenty out although they clearly saw everything, and instead of writing it as moving everything, wrote that it covered just those items. So I asked for and received an email confirming the price included everything, which you should too, to protect yourself. Then before the move I asked a question about the kitchen appliances and they acted surprised that these would be moved too, and increased the price. Although we had said they and everything else would.
Then during the actual moves, BOTH TIMES, the foreman demanded more money, citing differences in what we had versus what was listed by their estimator. Even though their estimator spent 30 MINUTES surveying our first closet for example. And both times they asked for this in cash in which case they wouldn’t tell the company. (We refused.) Some baloney about him being a contractor and being paid only for what was listed on the quote, as a percentage.
I would use them again if I didn’t find a better place because the actual move was capable and nothing was broken, but I will consider others next time because this pricing bit really spoiled things. (And frankly they need to improve their unpacking although it’s better than doing it all oneself.)

If you are thinking of moving, please do NOT use Shleppers! The movers were completely unprofessional and broke and damaged several of my items in addition to losing several pairs of expensive boots in their original boxes! I have called several times to complain and filled out multiple surveys, all of which have been ignored! They are trying to reimburse me 5% of my lost items. This is unacceptable customer service and a poor way to conduct business with repeat customers!

This was my first time using a moving service in NYC. I moved from one location in Astoria to a busier section, making it impossible to do myself. I spoke with Derek, an Astoria native, who was very personable and knowledgeable as to the best time to move based on the business of my new block. Rene and his crew were very efficient, quick and personable when coming to move my things. They really rocked the move considering how short of notice I provided and my time constraints. Thanks so much to Derek and his team. I’d highly recommend using Shleppers.

I Hired Schelppers this past December to move from New York to North Carolina. The physical move went ok I thought until after being short handed in NC the move rushed along. A week later once we had things unpacked we noticed our good China worth several thousands of dollars was missing!
Schelppers offered us a poultry $ 500.00 and when we declined to accept it they just ignored us to the point I had to just except the $ 500.00 as a small a claim case was not worth the battle.
As a business owner myself for over 30 years I would be very wary of a company that doesn’t make good!

After posting my original review Shleppers did reach out and respond. They agreed that the situation was not acceptable and found a repair company to fix my dresser. Shleppers made arrangements for pickup, delivery and payment. Now I have a dresser that is as good as new. Thank you.

Fast, professional, and friendly movers. Our entire 1 bedroom move was done in just a few hours, and nothing was damaged or lost. The estimate process was relatively easy and quite accurate & affordable. I would use them again.

This was the worst moving experience ever. We moved from New York to Boston in the summer of 2015, and we had to put our things in storage for about a month between the first and second halves of the moves. At every stage Shleppers was a disappointment if not an outrage:
— The movers in New York solicited us for tips, explicitly.
— They promised that the storage space was climate controlled and «just like» the Westy storage unit that we had been renting prior to the move.
— During the month of storage, Shleppers reneged on their original quote and charged us more because they said we were storing our things for longer than we had originally claimed (this was false).
— Once our things arrived in Boston, they were covered in dirt and grime — not dust — and clearly had NOT been in the same type of storage space as the movers had promised.
— Multiple items were broken: dishes, small appliances, artwork.
— Worst of all, they «lost» our flat-​screen TV and new high-​end mattress set, together worth about $ 3k.
— Customer service was unprofessional and unresponsive. After almost four months they finally offered us $ 500 for our missing items. Luckily we had renters’ insurance and were able to cover most of the cost of those items with that.
This was THE WORST MOVING EXPERIENCE of my life, and I have moved a lot. We were fooled by the low quote, but we paid far more in wasted time, headache, and stress. Stay far away from these unprofessional and irresponsible liars.

We literally JUST finished our move and had a GREAT experience with this company. Our movers: Shaka, Charlie, and Ricky were fast and very accommodating. They safely helped us move all of our belongings (during a terrible rain storm) and made our move as stress free as possible. Would highly recommend.

The worst Freaking company Ever. I had a move done several months ago and almost EVERYTHING WAS DAMAGED. I submitted a claim form months ago and have been going back and fourth for compensation. An amount of 1692.00 was offered and I accepted and I still have yet to receive any check. DO NOT I REPEAT DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY YOU WILL REGRET IT. Also I posted feedback on their Facebook page and my comments were deleted so I wanted to post and warn EVERYONE HERE.

overall pleasant, stress-​free moving experience; estimator was very professional, honest and not pushy at all to make a sale; I had over a dozen quotes from different companies and for my purposes Shleppers provided the best value — they guaranteed a flat rate, which was one of the best quotes I got, while providing highly experienced VIP crew per my request as I had some expensive furniture.
I’m 75% percent unpacked (they boxed and wrapped every single item really well) — not a single item broken or even scratched — truelly impressive! would definitely recommend to all in my circles and would use again myself… without a doubt. one advice — whatever company you choose, what will help additionally — before the move promise a good tip for the crew for quality work and you won’t regret (don’t wait till end). everyone feels fine tipping waiters but many don’t realize that mover’s pay is often structured assuming the tip…
in any case make sure you choose company with experience — it doesn’t matter how much you tip to unexperience crew they are likely to make some costly mistakes… with Shleppers I had none of those — no walls scratched when carrying out /​in dispite very large move — I had 2 trucks of furniture and stuff… my recommendation Shleppers is safe to use and provides one of the best values on the market in New York City area at the moment per my research. good luck with your move! i’m writing this review in gratidue for a smooth experience, which is so rare in moving. We were very satisfied with our entire experience with Schleppers. The price was fair, communication with the office was simple, the movers showed up on time and did an excellent job. They were friendly, courteous and we would highly recommend them based on our experience.

We used Shleppers for our office move. They did a very good job. Everything arrived where it was supposed to and there were no problems. So far as we have seen (thus far, we are still unpacking) nothing was damaged or broken in any way. The contact there gave us his cell phone number so he was available to us when we needed anything. At first I was put off by the structure of the customer service when you call the main line (it is automated, unlike some other moving companies), but they were there for us every time we needed something and connected us to actual people in a timely and efficient manner. Thanks for helping us with our move.

STAY AWAY! Save your time and money and look else wear. Trust us. We’re telling friends, family and co workers so they don’t make the same mistake we did, and use them.
1. Three guys. Only one looked like he had experience, the other two had NONE. They looked like it was their first time lifting anything.
2. As a result of above, it took them 10 hours to move! 6 hours to carry 30 boxes, then another 4 to unload. Everything was already packed and moved to one central location for them. We have very limited furniture (2 bedroom apartment in NYC)
3. They also forgot to carry a few floor lamps and a couple of boxes. I had to move them myself. Which is frustrating after paying 2k.
4. They were MIA at one point.

I had a great experience with Shleppers and would definitely recommend using them! I was able to reserve a moving time with them and get an estimate just the day before the move. They even provided moving boxes, wardrobe boxes, and a mattress cover at no extra cost. They helped me to finish packing everything that I wasn’t able to get to yet and offered to disassemble/​reassemble my furniture for me too — all included in the fixed price. Emanuel and his partner were fast and efficient and very friendly. It was the most seamless move I have experienced and I am very satisfied!

This is the second time I’ve used Shleppers and I was quite impressed with the care the team took in ensuring my moves ran smoothly and efficiently. The crew went above and beyond to make sure I was satisfied and paid great attention to detail and aesthetics.
The foreman Girard did a stellar job in overseeing the job, which included two stops, and was a pleasure to work with.

I have used Shleppers many times over the years for both my personal and my business. I can;t say enough good things about them. Shleppers show up on time, they are skilled and their people are professional and courteous.
I have also recommended them to many friends and they have had the same positive experience. They are also very fair when it comes to price. A move it stressful enough without having to worry about your movers. They are the best in the business!

We have not moved in 22 years, so we were a bit apprehensive. The crew was professional, pretty careful, very hardworking. We hired them to pack most of our stuff too. It all arrived without damage. We negotiated a price ahead of time that was totally honored. We moved from a house to a townhouse. The equivalent of about 8 rooms of furniture and almost 200 boxes. They came on a Friday and packed from 8:30am to 2:30pm, then returned at 8am the next day and were totally done moving us into the new home by about 2pm.

Shleppers Moving & Storage gets 5 stars. It is the ONLY moving and storage company we would EVER use. Their motto: «Going Beyond Expectations» says it all. They are: customer-​service oriented, efficient, fair, friendly, hard – working, helpful, honest, organized, prompt, reliable and responsive. They deliver the highest quality of work at a very fair price. Everybody in the company — from our Senior Relocation Consultant and customer service department, to the three wonderful men who did all of the manual labor — went that extra mile! They did everything they could to make something that was so overwhelming for me seamless and done to perfection! We certainly will be using them again in the very near future for our big move. We just cannot imagine anyone else we would trust with our home and most valuable possessions.

CRIMINAL company. 0 stars. AVOID AT ALL COST
We bought their extra moving insurance policy to protect against any moving damages. During our move, they not only LOST BOXES but also BROKE OUR TV. When we filed the insurance claim for a new TV and lost boxes, they said they wouldn’t pay for the TV because we couldn’t prove it broke during the move and that they would pay us an insultingly low amount for the lost boxes. They also sent ONE person to unload the truck.
We called to learn why the insurance policy we paid extra for wasn’t being honored. Their customer service representative then hung up on us, telling us to sue them if we had a problem, and then refused to speak with us after that.
We’ve contacted the state who said the company is able to operate like this because the industry is not regulated.
AVOID AT ALL COSTS!

This company should be closed. I am in the processes of suing them for lost and broken items. They have no right calling themselves a storage company. An antique rolling rack, an antique table both lost and or destroyed. Other items lost and others broken. You do not have your own storage facility. Items are in broken down crates. Be aware and stay clear of this operation

If I could rate them a 0, I would. it’s now been three weeks since our move, claim has been filed and a lousy estimate has been sent to us. We countered the estimate since they are still missing items for it and are refusing to pay us full price for the items they never delivered to us! I have had to call them every day in order to get an answer. Otherwise, they won’t contact you.

We’ve used 4 different movers in the past 8 years. Shleppers has been the best of the bunch. The estimate process was quick and easy and they were able to lock down a date on very short notice, something that most companies couldn’t do.
The team that we got for our move was pretty solid, though there were a few issues. First, they were about an hour and a half late. No explanation or apology. Second, they didn’t bring enough packing materials because, allegedly, the office didn’t tell them the size of the move. Finally, while they worked hard, they seemed to run out of steam towards the end of the packing and tempers were flaring between them. Some of the guys got a bit snippy with us as well when we asked simple questions. Not cool.
The delivery was generally okay. Again, the guys worked hard and they arrived on time too. That was great. But we also had some notable pieces arrived damaged. Also the packaging in a few cases turned out to be poor. For example, they used a pair of expensive curtains as padding for a computer. We had to get them dry cleaned after the fact and it was very expensive. Also, they taped bubble wrap onto expensive electronics and we had a hell of a time getting the tape pieces and residue off the screens. Other delicate things were thrown into boxes without enough protection and broke. Total bummer. Thankfully though, we had purchased moving insurance through the Baker company, otherwise we’d be screwed for the damaged items.
That said, I’d use Shleppers again and recommend them as well. But, as with most moving companies, be prepared for issues and definitely have moving insurance if there are pieces you care about.

This was an absolutely horrendous experience. I had this move back in January and didnt want to write anything because I was so upset about it.
But even after months every time I think about it I get goosebumps. A move of a 1 bdrm into a 5×7 storage unit (tells you how small my move was) took 16hrs!!! They killed my entire move day, lost, yes the reported that they had LOST the truck on the way only later to tell me that it broke down and they didnt know how to fix it. Then it was a waiting game — 30mins, 15mins, 1hr…
They arrived at my unit at 730am and dropped off the stuff at a storage unit 12miles away at 11pm!
Please do yourselves a favor and never use them.

If you care about your personal belongings, do not use this company. They broke our master bed frame, a night stand, and so far from what I’ve unpacked, 4 boxes of glass items, several that were our wedding gifts. Everything was wrapped up well, with extra padding and they still managed to break a ton of stuff. The boxes were damaged, everything was dirty, it was as if they just tossed things around. HORRIBLE!!!

Just moved with Shleppers this past week.
We used Shleppers, as my boyfriend had them do his move from Brooklyn to Manhattan last year.
The move itself went well, but there was miscommunication when we were setting up the move. The coordinator did not note that we were moving to an apartment on the 3^rd floor of a walkup, which annoyed the movers and hinted that we should pay more tip because of this miss. The mover also complained that he was not told that he would have to pack everything (a lot of books, kitchen stuff, etc) — which we definitely told the coordinator and what I understood was why the move was a bit more expensive than I had anticipated.
They also broke our coffee grinder and did not pack a box of salt properly… lets just say this left me a bit «salty» as well :(
I would still consider using Shleppers again in the future, but would want to make sure that there is no future confusion. I admit, I was a little disappointed after hearing such a glowing review from my boyfriend’s mother.

This was our third time using Shleppers for our move. The first two times weren’t too bad at all. In fact, the first move was wonderful. However, this last time was a complete nightmare — from the horrible customer service (Brandy and Shareen) to the misfits that were assigned to move us.
I’ll start out with the movers themselves. These guys seemed pretty good on day 1 when they came to pack the apartment up. However, on the second day is where things got rocky. They had horrible attitudes and could care less about our belongings (I will provide more detail when I get to the point where they destroyed our furniture). We moved from one elevator building to another. The movers told me that our couch was too big and would not fit in the elevator, so they would need me to pay them extra to bring it up the stairs. We paid them extra charge in cash, but were later informed by our building Super that they in fact had used the elevator. He caught on to their scheme when he overheard the three movers joking about getting the extra money out of us.
To make matters worse, the men carelessly handled our furniture (as witnessed by multiple employees in our building) and literally ripped the legs off of a very expensive desk. Additionally, they flipped our dresser on its top while moving it. This cased a large crack down the side of the piece. When confronted about this the men just shrugged their shoulders and said that customer service would handle it.
After this nightmare experience we contacted customer service about the broken furniture and the fraud that took place.
Human resources contacted us about the money and their behavior weeks ago and we have not heard a peep since.
The customer satisfaction people have been of little to no help. They have offered us a payment of $ 250 to reimburse us for the damaged furniture, which is an absolute insult. The desk was damaged so bad that the screws were ripped out of the wood making it unable to be repaired. The desk was purchased brand new for $ 1,600. After multiple calls and emails they told us that they reimburse damaged furniture based on weight not value. I was able to get them up to $ 500, but that’s not even a quarter of the value of the two items combined. I have since declined their offensive reimbursement.
I have had no choice at this point but to report them to the Better Business Bureau and have filed a legal claim with the Small Claims Court.
I DO NOT recommend anyone use Shleppers as they are a horrible company to work with and it’s clear that the movers learn their careless behavior from their higher ups.
UPDATE: On ⁷⁄₂₀ we moved again as we were relocated for business. We used Paramount and they were AMAZING. The entire process couldn’t have been better. The team was professional, they really took great care to ensure that our items were properly packaged to avoid damage and from step one they provided a superior customer service experience.
At this time we are still working to get reimbursed by Shleppers and have an upcoming date in Small Claims Court. Sadly, they still have not addressed the fraud that their employees committed. Here’s to hoping that the legal system will serve us right!

Please, save your valuables and don’t choose shleppers as your moving company.
They are extremely slipshod in their packing, they arrived with insufficient materials to pack my belongings safely, and even after explicit instructions («wrap the photographs with bubble wrap») when my back was turned they proceeded to wrap the rest with paper, offering no protection.
Furthermore, they did an amazingly bonehead move of packing incredibly expensive speakers (which I mentioned as such) instead of with great care, in a box jammed in with a cloth suitcase with metal locks on it as the packing material… locks are metal, speakers are magnets, boom, destroyed speakers.
They had the gall to offer $ 50 after this ridiculousness was pointed out to them as obviously their fault.
Their customer service sucks, they banged a few walls in the process, careless and slow all around.
Do not hire.
