I booked a move with this company for 11am to 1pm window. On the move day, the company waited until after 1pm to tell me the first move was running over and they probably won’t arrive until 4pm. Previously, I told the company to arrive on time because my apartment has very strict move in/​out rules. Clearly this company has a habit of overbooking and not delivering on their promises. In fact, the manager showed very little concern about the bad customer service there. Thankfully, I was able to find a different moving company to complete the move. I should of knew this company was a waste when they asked for a deposit upfront. Avoid Key Moving at all cost.

Could have been worse, but I wouldn’t hire them again. Several of my items were damaged. And, when I called to complain they gave me a link to file a claim. Ok, I took pics, filed a claim, all for them to say my claim was denied because when my things were dropped off in my new place, I signed the paperwork at the end.
I didn’t know that signing the paperwork at the end basically relieves them of all liability. I thought that signing meant that they delivered my things. I did not know I was waiving liability for them, so that they do not have to cover things they damaged. Anyway, you live, you learn, and you pay a little more for better movers the next time.

Best experience ever!!! I will recommend them to everyone that I know .we had Sceduall for 9am the team come on time very professional work very hard we were very happy we bring them coffee in the morning and both for them lunch they work very hard for the money if you trees them nicely you will get return back .
The price was fairly and overall the guys did outstanding job .

I highly recommend Key Moving. I happen to meet the kind hard working movers the day I was moving into my studio apt, I asked one of the movers for his business card because I saw for myself how professionaly wrapped the furniture was and how careful the movers handled the items being moved. I called the number and Scott was professional and very efficient, curtious and well mannered with spunk! Over all a positive experience, would definitely give them future business. And did I mention? Danny, the owner himself, called to confirm my delivery date and time! Added a personal touch and made me feel very comfortable.

Key Moving was contracted to move an antique piano for my family this past spring, 2015. Key was unable to move the piano without having it disassembled first, and so Key recommended Daniel DeLeon, a contractor, citing that they’ve worked with him before, that his work was of the highest quality and ensured the safety and care of our family’s antique piano.
The piano was moved, but Daniel DeLeon has proved to be unreliable. During the move, some pieces of our piano were damaged or lost, resulting in Daniel offering to buy certain parts to be replaced on our behalf. My family offered Daniel the money for the replacement parts in good faith, but still haven’t seen said parts nor have they seen receipts, and subsequently — replacement work was never done, and he still has $ 400 of our money.
Daniel’s work ethic left much to be desired. Always late to our home to finish assembling the piano, never kept in contact with my family on his arrival time, often resulting in our tardiness to other daily routines and appointments; many times would be upset that my family told him he wouldn’t be paid the full amount until the work was finished (smart decision considering we never had a clue as to whether he’d follow through with an appointment with us).
After two months passed with NO contact from Daniel, our family reached out multiple times, with no response.
When finally calling KEY MOVING to ask if they’d be of some assistance in contacting Daniel, KEY MOVING DENIED HAVING KNOWN OR RECOMMENDED DANIEL DELEON, therefore harboring and protecting a scam artist.
Be warned — KEY MOVING and their outsourced contractors are NOT to be trusted.

Every item that was packed by THEM was damaged. To add insult to injury, the driver text this to us upon inquiry of where our belongings were:
«Weekend is for resting why are you so excited. I am in IOWA. WILL BE IN DENVER SUNDAY EVENING»
The driver stated that he didn’t want to waste his fuel driving his truck to our house. He didn’t bother to bring our belongings up until Tuesday afternoon even though he was in Denver on Sunday. He argued with us about balance due, which was only $ 83. New Life Van Lines coordinated with this company. We had to argue with New Life Van Lines and show proof of payment in order to get the driver to bring our belongings.
This company picked up our belongings on July 20, 2015. It took them one month to deliver.

Very average company with average service.
For starters, they came in late. The foreman was in a great hurry. I had a time based deal with Scott (the guy who booked on the phone) however, the foreman was insisting that he would only take 19 items as listed. They didn’t shrink wrap everything as a result, they completely destroyed one baby crib and a recliner. They were so careless that they never used a ramp or a lift to put things in a very high truck but instead used a small door which was some 6 feet above the ground. So they went kind of throwing things inside. They were even taking my babies mattress without packing it but I protested upon which they wrapped it.
Upon reaching my new apartment, they realized they dropped a Allen wrench at my old address so I had to drive back to get that for them.
Overall a bad experience. Foreman was rude. He was constantly fighting with his own team and kept trying to charge me more for one thing or another.
I would not recommend them to anyone.

They are the first movers to say that we have to take everything out of your drawers. So they did. They just took the drawers out and threw all on contents in a box. If I wanted that I would have moved myself. Having used movers before. They left all the contents in the drawers and moved the furniture within. Now I have to waste my time to unpack.
Oh yeah, the lead mover would not carry my stuff up seven floors unless I pay him more.
I have moved several times before and this company gas to be the worst. Do not believe them.

So this is update to my previous review. Since then Daniel from Key moving messaged me and sent me a detailed GPS report. The movers did not appear to have stopped for two hours however they did take a long route out of the City to Brooklyn and back in through the Queensborough tunnel. This is why it took the movers over two hours to arrive. At any rate, no pun intended, Daniel did take the time to explain this to me and we agreed to compromise. Daniel immediately refunded me for 1 of the 2 hours I was disputing. So bottom line is, if you choose Key Moving, make sure you understand whether you are getting and hourly rate or a flat fee, ask for Daniel to help you, and get the GPS report if you disagree with the travel time.

Terrible experience. Broke my chair in pieces, boxes came ruined, and they don’t even bother to answer my emails anymore. This is a VERY BAD company, trust me, stay away and don’t waste your money and time.
Also, they under estimate the cost of your Sq feet so you chose them and then they over charge you.
Sam, the owner/​manager, only wants your money in exchange of POOR quality of service.

So my move was originally supposed to be February 18^th, they gave me a window of 8 to 9 a.m. When no one was there by 10:30 a.m. I figured they might have been stuck in traffic but I’m going to give a call. Much to my shock and disappointment they said Oh we thought someone called you we had an emergency and we can’t do your move today. We can do it tomorrow. Luckily for me my lease was not up till the end of the month so it wasn’t an emergency but what if I had to move that day? I would’ve been out homeless with my stuff stuck in the apartment. And for this inconvenience the only thing they offered me with a 10% discount.
The only reason I’m giving them a 3 star instead of a 1 star is because when they did come the next day the 3 movers I had were incredible. The office said my move would take about 6 hours and they were finished 4.5 hours. They took extra care of my stuff I told up I was concerned about my 60 inch screen TV is that is my prized possession and they completely secured it not only wrapped in cloth and boxed, they wrapped it again just to put me at ease. They worked very very hard and fast in about 10 degree weather. So I appreciate the workers making up for the lack of management skills in the office.

I have to say that their execution of our move was TOP NOTCH from start to finish. We met Danny who’s the owner about a week prior to our move date for him to do the walk-​thru. He arrived 10 minutes before his appointment time which I understand never happens in the moving industry. He gave a thorough assessment of our place and gave us quote instantly. He followed up the following day and through out the week to see if we had any questions. He wanted to make sure we were happy with the quote but more importantly he was providing 5 star customer service. I’m huge on customer service.
Move day was no different than when he came to do the estimate. We had 4 guys that arrived 15 minutes early and they moved us from North Bergen to Harrison in under 5 hours. They were quick, courteous and professional. They helped with boxes, padding for the furniture, and extra supplies. If I ever need to move again, i’ll definitely be using Key Moving and Storage. One of the worst experiences of my life. Key Moving decided they couldn’t get a truck to my location at the last minute and they outsourced me to a budget mover that was incredibly painful and difficult to deal with. When I tried to point to the $ 100 deposit I had paid Key and the contract we had signed, they told me that I could either go with the company they wanted to subcontract me to (with absolutely no documentation until pickup day, by the way) or find my own movers at the last minute. Find another company!

The best move I’ve ever had! Key moving & storage provided exeptional service from start to finish. Movers were on time and hardworking. The staff was very helpful and they made my move stress free. My wife and I recently relocated from NYC to the Richmond, VA area, and we were looking for a reliable, reputable moving company to assist us with our move, which was both complicated and time-​sensitive. With my pregnant wife already in the Richmond area, we wanted a company that would make this move an easy and pain-​free transition. KEY Moving & Storage was the company that not only satisfied the task but that went beyond our expectations.
The crew that came to the move was professional and resourceful. The skilled team was not only efficient but also thoughtful and capable. I could tell right away that they cared about their work and took me and my situation quite seriously. The 3-​man crew was prompt and had everything packed in less than 2 hours and actually made it to Virginia in the same day to complete the move. Danny assured me that this was possible when I was making my reservation and I was completely shocked and pleased that it actually happened just that way. Our furniture and boxes were packed up and the glassware and glass tabletops were packed well and delivered without one mark. The guys even unloaded the furniture in the exact locations in each room where I requested and every box went to the correct location in the house. They even rolled out our carpets on the floors. Honestly, I was relieved and pleased that I could actually begin my new life in Virginia without any hang-​ups. I expected stress and chaos but was legitimately pleasantly surprised and satisfied. Not a single complaint. I highly recommend Danny and his team at KEY Moving. So if there are no other movers available on the day you’ve requested And you cannot move the furniture yourself, choose these guys. They are lazy and will try to rip you off.

Horrible movers. Broke my perfectly good dining room table in half — literally — so that it can’t be used. Lost another box. Refused to return calls regarding claims. Horrendous. Do not use.

Criminal. Absolutely the worst. They showed up when they said, which was about the last nice thing that happened. They then proceeded to raise their price by FIFTY PERCENT (50%, not a typo). We had a «contract» for the original price which they informed me was somehow not valid.
Of course, when you need to get out of the apartment that day and the movers are there you don’t really have a lot of options. I was over a barrel so I ended up paying them. I now know that this is called a spot delivery scam, see this for more info:
The short version: these people are horrible thieves, who have no compunction with taking advantage of a poor young couple. They have absolutely no honor, no dignity, they are devoid of anything resembling decency and you should never consider doing business with them.
They also broke some stuff, but whatever that can happen in any move.

THIS IS A VERY BAD MOVING COMPANY! My move was from NYC to SF. To begin, my final cost was up-​charged about $ 1000 from my initial estimate of $ 2600, for a 1 bedroom. This included more weight than estimated, I did not live on the ground floor upon when they delivered (I kid you not), they had to park more than 75 ft away from my elevator (I kid you not, again), and they also claimed that they cannot bring a tractor-​trailer into SF so had to switch trucks (false, verified with state and local authorities).
The guys who picked up my furniture– They wrapped my wooden furniture’s surface with packing tape, so on arrival the removal of tape completely ruined many of the surfaces.
The guys who is in charge during the trip– Multiple «dispatchers», hard to tell who actually knows where my stuff is.
They guys who delivered my furniture– Get this, the movers from the contracted local company basically told me they don’t exactly know what NY company is this, except that every time they do a job for them, customers always complain. So of course, things went very wrong– my bed that was promised to be re-​assembled couldn’t be done b/​c they had lost all the necessary parts. My coffee table is damaged and the glass top is completely gone. The guys who delivered only cared about how much they get tipped, «I’m sorry your things got lost, but my guys still work really hard today. If you don’t want to get charged even more for the extra distance we walked to your elevator, tip us good.»
I’m calling their claims dept. Also gonna see if they are amenable to refunding some of my money, that’s the least they could do. I do not have my hopes up.

I cannot speak for the other reviews, I know only my own experience. They arrived on time and worked their butts off in the heat. The three gentlemen were very careful in packing and wrapping my things, moving them down three flights of stairs, packing the truck, driving out to nj, and moving it back up two more flights of stairs. They came in just under the quoted time and price, and the only slight hitch was that their credit card machines were down and they requested cash. I tipped each of them generously because I was so happy with their work. I would whole heartedly recommend them, plus they were less than half of what Flat Rate quoted me. Not sure who I spoke with on the phone, only that he had the most charming French accent. Maybe management has changed since these previous reviews, idk. But I would definitely hire them again, and will next year.

They did nothing as promised. A full day late even though they gave us a M-​Th arrival window. How hard is it to guess when you cal on Saturday and say it will be M — Th?! And then an hour late for a 4pm — 8 pm delivery window. Broke two items beyond repair AND charged more than the contract for the services. We will NEVER use Key Moving again and recommend you not use their services.

Absolutely not. They’re totally unreliable — if these are the same ones as the Key Moving & Storage in New Jersey, and I’m sure they’re affiliated — 4 days before I was supposed to move, they call and inform me that they cannot find anyone to move me. They suggest that I find different movers. I could not believe it — and the reason being — I was really not a big enough move for them since I was only moving one bedroom. Don’t bother signing a contract since it clearly means nothing to them.

Key Moving was terrible during my move to NC. The movers refused to take apart furniture as required by contract, causing heavy damage to many belongings. They carelessly tossed around my stuff in front of me. They were aggressive about receiving a tip, and harassed me throughout my trip to ensure I’d arrive before them (due to the fact that they drove the 12 hours straight in violation of interstate transit laws). They openly mocked me in Spanish, assuming I didn’t speak it, and at least one mover was visibly high when they arrived.

We had a horrendous experience with Key Moving & Storage.
We hired them to move a small load of stuff from NYC to KY in June of 2008. I was repeatedly assured that I would receive my belongings «within 3 – 10 days», whether that was a weekday or a weekend. It wasn’t until they’d left with all my stuff that I discovered the (several sets of conflicting) fine print that said it could take anywhere from 21 – 45 BUSINESS days. That’s two months without my baby’s crib and most of her toys and clothes.
Once our belongings did finally hit the road more than a month later, our driver, Alex, called me four days in a row, each day promising that he would be arriving the following afternoon. Granted, he claims to have had some trouble with the truck breaking down, however, I still did not appreciate losing a week’s worth of work because he was not keeping me appraised of the situation. He repeatedly told me he would call me in the morning to tell me what time he’d be there, and inevitably we wouldn’t hear from him and I would call him sometime in the late afternoon only to find that he was still sitting around.
But my main complaint is about what happened once our belongings finally did arrive. As Alex and his partner moved our belongings in, my husband and I began to check off the numbered items from our copy of the inventory given to us at pick up. As we were doing so, we watched as both men put boxes labeled «fragile» at the bottom of heavy stacks, literally threw our luggage out of the truck, and placed heavy items upside down in our apartment without correcting them. There was visible damage to many of the boxes. We halted our inventory check about halfway through in order to clean up broken glass that was spilling out of one of the damaged boxes.
Once we returned from cleaning out the broken glass, Alex again assured me that we would go over everything together, just as soon as we’d finished some paperwork. He then gave me the evaluation sheet and told me that I had to fill that out before we could do anything else. As I surveyed the form, he stood over my shoulder, and as I began to fill it out he took it away from me and told me only to fill out the comments section and say they’d been professional. I wrote that they had been friendly but had some disregard for ‘fragile’ labels.
Once I had finished writing, My husband and I resumed checking the inventory, which angered Alex who suddenly seemed unconcerned with professionalism or general courtesy, and claimed he had already done it all, he had his own list, a better list, and he didn’t want to spend time going over it all with us, and he had other stops to make so we should just trust that he’d have to pay for missing items from his own pocket and sign the papers so he could go, all the while physically blocking us from the piles of boxes. At my remarking that there was an awful lot of damage, he told me that he couldn’t wait for me to check everything but if I made a general note about stuff being damaged it would be fine, at which point he shoved the papers and pen at me and dictated what he wanted me to write down. Given his agitated state and his suddenly changed demeanor, and the fact that my infant daughter was present, I opted not to argue with him and favor physical safety over legal safety, and wrote what he told me, and signed the paper. He then took it back, wrote something else on the bottom (which I personally find illegible) and handed me a copy, whereupon he and his partner retreated to the truck without reassembling any of our furniture. We opted not to give them any additional tip in light of the damage, crude behavior, and the fact that they left the job unfinished. However, after several minutes, his partner returned and asked if we had remembered to «give the other guy some extra money». Just wanting them off of our property, we gave him $ 60.
It took us quite a while to sift through the ruin to assess the full scope of the damage, which was extensive. Furniture was visibly damaged, everything was coated in grime, things which had been bubble wrapped and padded were shattered, and my staff (traditional shaolin long weapon) was lost or stolen (which upsets me both because it is a weapon, and because it had great sentimental value). We began drafting a complaint, however the low compensation we would have gotten was not worth the hoop jumping we’d have to do, and we had felt threatened enough to not want to anger the wrong people– they knew where we lived. We’ve since moved, hence this review.
Oh, and one thing I forgot to mention: at pickup, after half the stuff was already on the truck, they informed me that in fact it would cost me 3x more than the quote that got me to sign with them in the first place.
I would not recommend this company to anyone.

I hired Key Moving and Storage to move my apartment belongings from Boston to San Diego in August 2008. The men who arrived to load my belongings into the truck in Boston were very professional, careful and organized. I probably trusted a little too much but they did a great job, on that end. My complaint is with the delivery of my items. I had called a few days ahead to let them know that I HAD to go away for a business trip for 2 days and if they knew when they would deliver my items. I had to have them delivered to a storage unit in San Diego. They delivered while I was out of town but the storage unit manager signed off. When I arrived to check on the delivery of my belongings, I was in shock. It looked like they had thrown my boxes in the unit (10×15, which was more than enough space). Boxes were smashed, mirror broken, you couldn’t get through and count all the boxes if you tried. It took my a whole weekend and help to re-​stack all the boxes, account for damaged items and file a complaint. One box was/​is missing and it was a box of CDs that was worth quite a bit of money. My major complaints are: 1. Lack of professionalism/​service upon delivery. It was in NO WAY acceptable. 2. «Stolen» or missing box of CDS (unfortunately the box was labeled as such) 3. Lack of information given about insurance for missing/​damaged items. If I were to hire movers again, I would make sure I paid extra or checked on my renters/​home owners insurance as paying damages by weight is a complete rip-​off.
Pro: They were more affordable than other companies and if I had seen the same delivery service as I had seen on the pick-​up, they would have 5 stars. Also, if my valuable box of CDs weren’t missing as well, of course.
