Specialties
Serving pizza, sandwiches and hot dogs all in a casual atmosphere. You can bowl on our vintage 1962 Big Ball Bowling machine while you enjoy a cold beer! We have a large selection of domestic and craft beers with rotating selections seasonally. We also serve a full menu of traditional bar fare with some Chicago favorites, including beef sandwiches and a Chicago-style hot dog. Our bar is a beautiful mahogany bar, circa early 1900’s, brought from Crosley field in 1937.
History
Established in 2011.
Simpler Times, established in 2011 by Blaine and Nancy Kienker, was founded on the idea that people in Bromley and all over the Greater Cincinnati/Northern KY area want a casual atmosphere to drink good beer and enjoy simply good food. With the warm reception from the owners, customers immediately feel like this has been their neighborhood bar for decades, even on their first visit. The large outdoor beer garden is the perfect place to relax on a nice afternoon or evening, listening to a local band and enjoying a craft beer. The menu is a combination of traditional bar fare mixed with some Chicago-inspired dishes that celebrate Blaine and Nancy’s roots in the Windy City. All of it combines to create a comfortable place to unwind that has people coming back time and again.
Meet the Business Owner
Blaine and Nancy K.
Business Owner
Nancy is a Chicago native who always dreamed of opening and running a hot dog stand. In 2006, she and her husband purchased a run-down bar and worked tirelessly to restore it so she could realize her dream. Nancy (aka Mamabear) is the face of the business and runs both the bar and the kitchen.
Blaine is a Chicago native who worked in IT for 28 years and concurrently owned and operated a small arcade game repair business. Clearly, he loves to work! Now semi-retired, he supports his wife with maintenance and infrastructure at Simpler Times while continuing to dabble with the arcade business.
