Beavers Bend Creative Escapes Cabins

My BFF and I decided we needed an escape and to go into nature, but we didn’t want to get together camping gear that quickly so we googled for cabins and I had been to one in Broken Bow before — and then we found these guys!
We stayed at the Eagle Ridge cabin which is absolutely beautiful. It has two bedrooms (one upstairs and one downstairs) with king size beds, which are averagely comfortable. It also has two queen size beds in the downstairs game room type area. These two beds are not behind doors or anything, but are actually more comfortable than the ones in the rooms. The couch upstairs also (supposedly) folds out into a queen, so that would serve as a bed too. Needless to say, there’s a ton of room here! But, I wanted to be specific about the accommodations so you can plan ahead if you’re coming with a large group. The couch itself is also solidly comfortable without folding it out, so someone could sleep on that no problem.
There are two bathrooms (one upstairs, one down) and each have a shower and toilet, the one upstairs also has a tub (great for kids). Plenty of room in both, although the one downstairs is larger. I was impressed by the water pressure in both. Fully equipped kitchen (cooking utensils/​pots/​pants, silverware, etc) but I suggest you check the plates /​silverware when you arrive. This place lost a solid star because when we arrived (after it had been «cleaned») there was actual pieces of food on the plates. Not just little flecks, but FOOD on the plates up in the cabinets. It was gross. We threw everything into the dishwasher and ran it, and handwashed a few so we could eat.
The internet is solid, make sure you call ahead or email ahead for the wi-​fi password because it’s not posted anywhere inside and you’ll be SOL if you arrive late. The Dish Network TV worked well, and they also have a DVD player with a small collection of movies. There is a Nintendo Wii downstairs with a collection of games but we didn’t test it.
Hot tub outside is fantastic, but you couldn’t fit more than 4 people at a time. GREAT to sit and relax in though. The exterior of the cabin is not as well-​maintained as the inside and I wish the chairs and tables had been in better condition because it was beautiful weather, but nowhere to really sit comfortably (they were dirty/​covered in spiderwebs/​etc). Another reason they aren’t 5 stars is that the exterior door to the screened-​in patio was broken and had a huge gap in the frame so a family of wasps had taken up residence inside. If that was fixed it would be an AWESOME place to hang out during good temps, but since I didn’t want to be stung we never got to enjoy it.
There is also a large firepit area in the woods nearby (wonderful) and I think there are five chairs, so if you’re bringing more than 5 people just toss some extra campchairs in the back of your car so you can enjoy it. There was a little firewood (not a lot) but enough to have a quick fire. If you want a longer one, bring more wood.
Nearby there are lots of cool places to hike, including the national park. You won’t be bored whether you’re spending time inside and enjoying yourself or outside enjoying nature. My friend and I are absolutely planning to return next year with even more people, and my fingers are crossed that they correct these issues in the Eagle Ridge cabin because we did inform them of them.

Second stay in 2 months… Fabulous. Very clean. Never disappointing… Love this area…

We stayed for a weekend at Lukfata Creek cabin. It was awesome! We brought our two dogs and they had an amazing time too — it was nice to bring them along. Extremely clean cabin, gorgeous outdoor area, clean and relaxing hot tub. It was our first time to the area and we will certainly be back!

Absolutely loved staying here! They make it so easy and the area is gorgeous, not to mention the cabins!

Our family has stayed at a creative escapes cabin two years in a row. The cabins never disappoint! We will look at them again for this year. The information email they send with detailed instructions are great!

Creative Escapes, Beavers Bend Cabins, August 23 — 26, Thursday — Sunday
So this past weekend, I went to a girls weekend out at a cabin in Broken Bow, Oklahoma. Since the reception up in that area is spotty at best, the Creative Escapes team sent mile by mile directions and they were spot on.
You can’t get any more amazing or tranquil than Hickory Bear. The décor was tasteful and fun. Not only was the location kid friendly but dog friendly too. The porch had a beautiful view of the woodsy area out back overlooking the fire pit. (There was a burn ban so we didn’t get to toast any marshmallows) The place was spotless, hot tub was clean (thank goodness), and the kitchen and grill out back are a chef’s dream — perfect for all grill mistresses and masters!
On the coffee table, there is a little journal of previous occupants that’s a fun drunk read. Interesting to see what everyone gets into when there is no one there to judge. LOL
The only complaint I have, was the table out back. There are screws missing and should be fixed ASAP! My friend tripped on one of the patio chairs and used the table to stead herself but ended up collapsing and injuring herself instead. This is a lawsuit waiting to happen if this is not fixed.

I’m part of the other couple Joe (above review) spoke of. As soon as we arrived and took a look around I replied to the email Creative Escapes sent me the day before confirming our arrival. I explained most of what Joe spoke of above and this is her exact reply…” I hate that you didn’t have the best experience at A Shore Thing. You are correct, it is probably more conducive to college kids or a single family with children. There is a reason it only rents for $ 195, it isn’t one of our nicest cabins. I do hope you will try us another time. Take a look at Now and Zen, it is perfect for 2 couples or Rustic Ridge.
Also, A Shore THing does not advertise that it has internet.“
She (Chandra) added that she wished she would have known about these problems while we were there. Huh? I called the office and left a message that we ARE still there. Chandra called back and was very nice. She agreed that maybe she should state on the website that this cabin is best for college kids. By the way… Joe left out of his review above, none of the remotes would operate the TV, finally when we went to eat the first night and had Internet he was able to get online and get the code to reset the remote and it worked, also the gas grill on the deck only half the burners worked. Anyway… we told Chandra we would be leaving a day early because we just weren’t comfortable with the cabin. She hated to hear that and offered to refund our third night. We really appreciate that and we look forward to seeing the credit on our credit card bill. Perhaps this company does have much nicer cabins but I don’t think we will try again.

«Well, what do you expect for $ 195 per night?» I haven’t heard one that funny in a while…
My wife and I rented «A Shore Thing» with a couple of friends for a three night stay over Memorial Day weekend. That didn’t quite work out; I am writing this review from my own couch on Sunday morning while watching the Indy 500. The first thing you notice as you pull up are the pathway lights have all their tops knocked off and thrown all over the lot. Next you see the bullet hole in one of the front windows. And then, the accidental composting pile just in the yard off the deck (old egg shells, napkins, grease?) — we walked inside and the place reeked of bleach, as if someone had attempted to make it appear as though someone actually cleaned up the place before we arrived. There was coating of dust on all the light fixtures, cobwebs everywhere, the pool table looked as though someone let their dogs walk around on it, and none of the ashtrays had been emptied. We had to pull bulbs from the lamps in the bedrooms to replace the burned out ones in the overhead lighting or the ones that just weren’t there to begin with. The «oasis» off the back bedroom is a screened in porch with a couple of chairs for sitting, but — the holes in the screen let flying insects in, so — the «oasis» isn’t — The coffee pot was a dingy brown, the stove tops looked old and gross. The outdoor deck hadn’t been swept or even rinsed in a LONG time, and definitely not before we arrived as a «make ready» — the mattress in the 2^nd bedroom was too soft, and felt like we were right on top of the box springs. I also had to tape up a towel over the window in that room, as there is a LARGE picture window that makes up almost the entire wall. A curtain or blinds would do nicely there. Basic cable, NO Wi-​Fi (when we were told there SHOULD BE by reservation taker) and lack of basic housekeeping made for a cabin fit for a group of college kids needing a party shack, a group on a fishing trip or someone just passing through. Unfortunately, we fit none of those descriptions and were looking for a little bit of relaxation away from home. Their website shows a little more luxury and comforts of home.
They did refund the last night and give us a bottle of wine, and I’d like to say they did right by refunding the third night of our stay, but — we weren’t going to stay anyway, and I feel they could have done more to make things right.
We stayed in a different company’s cabin the last time there, and will likely go back there after this adventure with Creative Escapes.
