Brisbane Community Pool

Still supporting this pool. Still lovin’ it and telling my friends and neighbors. The lifeguards here are attentive and I“ve never ever seen any of them distracted or on their phones, which I hate to say, I’ve seen at other pools.
I recently came back after a hiatus. It’s been very quiet here with the time and weather change. Even on cold days, it’s not too bad. The pool is heated. We’ve been having cold weather the past month and it’s been a challenge to get out there. But when i did make I don’t feel that it’s cold. Once you plunge into the pool and start moving, it’s fine.
I’ve been coming on weekends where i had ½ of the pool basically. They have been having full days of lap swims (technically ends by 12:50pm) but gets extended if kids don’t show up for the «rec swim» block.

This review is for the swim classes only — three stars for convenience, the fact that they offer session-​based swim lessons and that there’s usually parking. The downsides are that the locker room is filthy and smells so bad that my kids hold their noses, the swim teachers are high school students with zero experience and the pool is freezing. That said, we come back every year because it is hard to find swim lessons that are more than once or twice a week close to SF. If you have the time, drive down to Burlingame Aquatic Center — much nicer facility and better instructors.

This place does not know the meaning of customer service. Management needs to retrain staff on how to treat their patrons. My 9 year old daughter came here w/​her 10 year old friends and they were harassed by the staff the entire time. There was ONE misunderstanding with the kids misbehaving but how hard is it to simply address the matter and move on? The staff were treating my daughter and her friends like some murderers and stared them down the entire time. I’d understand if the kids kept acting up but they simply stayed quiet in a little huddle the whole time while staff kept picking on them saying «don’t talk about us, we don’t have time for your games»??? Instead of picking on 3 little girls who were quietly in a huddle, they should of been doing their jobs monitoring the safety of the entire pool.

Glad it costs more for non-​residents. Residents should get priority as their tax dollars fund the pool and it can get crowded, especially on weekends.
Staff is incredibly friendly.

Took advantage of my day off and took my son here for lap swim. This was my first time here and I like this place. It was super clean and the pool was heated to a nice warm temp. The cost is $ 7 for adults and $ 5 for kids if you’re not a resident of Brisbane. A decent price to pay. They have several classes to offer as well. It was nice to see the water aerobics class going on while swimming. The music made it more enjoyable. I will definitely return.

Brisbane pool is fun. I like sending my kids there for swim lessons. It has shade, grass and seats. They don’t have any food so bring some. They have a big pool with a sloped beach like entrance (the kids love it) they have a big shallow end for little kids and a deep end for older kids and adults. They have lifeguards and lockers. They also have showers and bathrooms. The only flaw is that they don’t have changing rooms and you have to change with everyone. over all Brisbane pool is fun!

Swimming has been me exercise of choice for the last 20 years and I take my routine seriously. I just relocated from Oakland to South San Francisco and after swimming at Temescal and YMCA Oakland for the last year (a not very pleasant experience), to my surprise, I must say that Brisbane Community Pool is a hidden jewel.
Pros: very clean (pool and lockers), beautiful surroundings, perfect temperature (still refreshing after 80 laps), reasonably priced, great parking area.
Cons (only one): the pool is slightly sort (If you are into lap swimming). I believe is around 20 – 22 meters.

This place is ok. The pool was freezing when we were there and when my son and I got home, he had a 104 fever from swimming for an hour at this pool. Note: I’ve taken him swimming many times before and he’s never gotten sick from a day at the pool. It could have been the combination of the hot weather and cold pool. He is doing better now, a day and a half later which is great.
Anyway, what was REALLY an inconvenience is that they DO NOT accept credit cards and only accept CASH or checks. They don’t have an ATM machine in the building and it was an absolute inconvenience that i had to drag my 3 year old back in the car to look for a bank and withdraw cash. Note to Managers: Please think about using Square so you can start accepting credit cards.
I will never return to this place and there are nicer pools in the city that I would rather go.

The lap swim hours are posted as 6:30 a.m. on weekdays. Too often, the staff does not open the pool until 7:00 a.m. or later due to «problems.» Most people wait for a while outside the locked doors until they give up and go home. They need to address their staffing problems or change the hours. It’s frustrating to stand around and wait for the staff to open the doors when they finally get themselves together.

Decent pool. Not Olympic size though. $ 8 entry fee for non Brisbane residents which is a bit high for a outdoor mid sized pool. $ 7 if you are a Brisbane resident.
Pros: –Open till 5pm on Sundays! Yay!
— easy free parking
–clean decent sized locker rooms (i can only speak for the ladies’ side)
–clean pool with not too overwhelming levels of chlorine
–heated sufficiently but you gotta keep swimming to be warm
–courteous attentive lifeguards on duty
Cons: –showers in the ladies room could use more pressure. Taking a shower was like being peed on.
–soap dispenser in the showers were empty. Good thing I brought my own.
–not too many lanes available during rec swim so i was forced to swim laps right next to the kiddie section on the shallow end. I got kicked once in the face and almost cannonballed on by those punk kids while the lifeguards kept telling them to stay away from the swimming lanes.
–it can get cold here when the fog and winds pick up.
Overall, I would come swim here again but I prefer the much larger sized pool in Burlingame Aquatics at Burlingame High.

$ 7 for the swim. I liked how this pool office answered the phone calls whereas the other ones I called dont answer the phone but tell you to check online.
The online schedule is up to date and current.

No frills community pool. There are about 6 lanes. No swimsuit spinner/​dryer.

Brisbane has one of the few outdoor pools I’ve found in the SF area. It’s a nice, clean pool that gets a good amount of sunshine. I love being outside when I swim but it can get freezing with the wind and a wet swimsuit. I do adult lap swimming here in the afternoons. Get here as soon as they open because the pool gets crouded and you will quickly be sharing a lane. Lap swim times change throughout the year so check their website. $ 7 per swim for non-​Brisbane residents. Kind of steep but I bought a 15 punch card for $ 70. Locker rooms are pretty gross, wear flip-​flops.

Very bad service we got in our first and last visit to this community pool! Wanted to speak with manager but never got any response. I took kids for swimming but I couldn’t swim. In all other pools we have been to, I would be allowed to go inside as standby (no swimming) without having to pay. This enabled me to keep a watchful eye on the kids and they will also feel more secured in a public place. Yet the receptionist (a guy) at this lousy pool demanded me to pay $ 7.50 in cash (pool only open for recreational swim for 1.5hrs) to go in to watch my kids. I asked him why this rule wasn’t written on their website. He said their site was not up to date. The I requested to see a written policy. He said they didn’t have it either but insisted they have done this for a long time. I then requested to speak to their manager… was told he was not there. I finally requested the manager’s phone number but was told he (the receptionist) couldn’t give it to me but promised his manger would call me. Now over a week passed, no call whatsoever!
Why so many of our public services degraded so low nowadays??? Why we need them??? The people who don’t want to work, couldn’t learn to work properly and professionally should go. Our hard earn money taxed shouldn’t be used to support so called «community service» (a joke at the best term)!

Usually not busy (I often get my own lane)
— Clean pool with out lots of chemicals
— Beautiful outdoor location surrounded by trees and some grassy areas
— the people who come her are very friendly
— locker rooms are clean and include private showers
A few cons:
— I find the staff mostly detached
— The lanes aren’t marked «slow» to «fast» so when it gets busy every lane ends up being slow since no one sorts by speed
I do wish the weekend hours started earlier. They are usually 10:00am so you can’t have an early morning swim on weekends

One of the reasons I like this place is the pool has a walk in ramp which is great for my toddler and offers a shallow area where he can submerge himself without my fear of drowning. It is a pretty small pool and there is very little grass area.
My only negative is the price. I am not a resident so it cost me $ 15 dollars for myself and my 2 year old to swim. Since my son is super duper excitable and loves the water (but can’t swim although he thinks he can), we don’t end up spending long periods of time because I just get tired out after a solid hour of grabbing him from underneath the water to make sure he can breath. He loves to jump and is pretty strong so it ends up being a battle of wills. I wish they had an hourly rate for those of us that want to come in for a little while, not the entire day. I also think it is pretty bogus to charge for under 3.
I can see utilizing this pool when my son is older and can swim. Note, it gets super packed during regular swim hours because it is so small so if you have a child like me who can’t swim, it gets sketchy with the other kids splashing, jumping in and playing to the point safety becomes an issue. We had to leave because we literally had no space for me to safely grab my son.

Great little community pool. Check their website for their hours for different seasons. The pool has a clean locker room with showers, lockers, changing area and bathrooms.
The pool is heated year round and there are outside showers to rinse off. Plenty of lanes for lap swimmers. There is a walk-​in entry for people who need it. Plenty of peddle boards and floats. The water is not overly chlorinated.

Outdoor pool to keep me tannedddddddd. The water is extremely bleached, and will leave u with a smell even after a long shower. The prices are really reasonable. It does have peak hours especially during the summer.

Great place to get some sun and swimming just outside the San Francisco fog bank!

$ 5 resident, $ 7 non-​resident for lap use. $ 3.50 for kids recreation hours.
One thing I like here is that it’s not communal showers. They actually have shower stalls. I know for people (like me) who wants a little privacy, this is greatly appreciated. Plenty lockers too…
I never wait long to get a lane, sometimes I even get the whole lane for myself. The steam coming out of the water during morning swims is just beautiful.

I can’t believe I was paying a lot of money to go to a gym with an ice-​cold pool when my own town has a lovely, clean, heated-​to-​an-​optimal-​80-​degree pool. What was I thinking.
Now that I have come to my senses, I’ve been getting back into swimming. The warmer weather has made it possible to lie on the grass with a book after a tiring lap swim. When it is on the edge of warm/​not warm enough, you can also lie on the concrete with a towel, which is a lot more comfortable than it sounds.
The busiest times seem to be weekend afternoons, when the pool is open to both lap swimmers and recreational swimmers (and lots of young kids). Go at 4 p.m. on a weekday afternoon and you will probably have a lane to yourself. So far, everyone I’ve shared a lane with has been pleasant, and it hasn’t been so crowded (yet) to have to do circle swimming.
They have a bin full of kickboards and pull buoys which is great for warm up or working on specific strokes. Other amenities include the lockers and showers that others have mentioned. If there was a suit spinner, that would be awesome! But, alas, no place is perfect.
Lastly, it is a good deal, especially if you are a Brisbane resident (a 15 swim card is $ 54 or $ 3.60 a visit).
