A delicious restaurant if you are in the mood for quick chinese food. It’s always mine and my girlfriend’s go to when we don’t know what to do for dinner.

This is my favorite place nearby for large quantities of pretty decent, cheap, greasy chinese food. As long as you know what you’re getting into its great. Is it the absolute best quality? No. But it’s good for the price and I usually get 3 meals out of one combo!

Late night Chinese outside of Boston. With very limited late night options in Boston, New Hong Kong is heaven. They are really fast and the food is really great. Everything is really cheap. Great way to end a night out!

Tl;dr: Crappy service all around, decent food. I have ordered from them twice and both times have had a bad experience. The first time the delivery man was super rude and yelled at us for not coming to the door right as he got there. That alone should have warned me that this place is bad news but against our better judgement we ordered from them again. The delivery man was tolerable(because of more effort on our part) but they completely forgot an item in our order! We ordered spare BBQ ribs(which we actually enjoyed the first time) but that was left out. We called them to clarify this but they said they had no way to confirm this so we had to deal with it. We paid through GrubHub so we paid for an item we did not receive! However, the food is decent(assuming you’re looking for a very greasy American-ized version of Chinese food) and we particularly like their crab rangoon, their fried rice, and their BBQ ribs. However, their service is so bad that it justifies a one star review.

there needs to be a zero star or half star rating, but that would be generous here so they get 1 star, which i suppose is the equivalent of a participation trophy. we ordered a Pu Pu platter for one, General Gau’s Chicken, Peking Ravioli, with Crab Rangoon and some other small sides. the food was ordered via grubhub, and was to be delivered within 35 – 45 minutes. 75 minutes later I phone the restaurant about the order(they seemed to have a difficult time with english) and asked when I should expect the food, and they claimed to have called me earlier but could not reach me. I had no missed calls, no voicemails, nothing indicating an attempt to contact me about my order. They say they will be there in 10 minutes. I fork over $ 48USD for for what turns out to be mostly inedible food. Nothing is hot, or even warm. The soup has congealed. During their either hastily or careless preparation, the sauce for the Peking Ravioli had spilled inside the bag contaminating all of the other food. Because they used cheap styrofoam containers instead of traditional Chinese paper box type containers, this ruined the entire order. GrubHub attempted to intervene, but the restaurant refused a refund or replacement order of food. Poor food, Poor customer service. I would not recommend this place to anyone.

I ordered from new Hong Kong several years ago while living in Brighton and it was forgettable– HOWEVER– Tonight’s order was fantastic, crispy rangoons, flavorful scallion pie, and very, very good orange chicken. It was bright and complex, quite spicy, tasted of bell pepper and orange. The meat quality was refreshingly great, at the level of CK Shanghai in wellesley. The fellow working was sincere and candid. I’ll be going back soon, seriously.

This is open at 4am and thus receives 2 stars because obviously it isn’t the greatest but after too many PBRs its the absolute greatest thing on the planet.

I ordered the beef ginger and scallion, scallion pancake, the pancakes where the usual bread like with a piece or two scallions, The beef was pink, the taste was burned and I think they may want to consider calling it onion beef and scallion I couldn’t detect any ginger in any case the burned tasted combined with pink strips of meat was a total turn off as was the opened door with the gnats whipping around my head as I waited. The reception area was dirty, and I understand it’s difficult keeping clean in an area saturated with students that use the area like a playground this is seriously wanting of a good scrub down. Friendliness and speed means little to me when eating out, well cooked meals representative of the name of the dish & cleanliness does. Meh is not my word(s) never again is more like it.

First thing is the employees that work here are ALWAYS friendly and fast. I have the same order almost every time and have tried the general tsos tofu, vegetable moo shi, tofu/mixed veggies in brown sauce and scallion pancakes. The general tsos tofu has a spicy thick sauce that gives the tofu a ton of flavor. Some places have either under fried or over fried the tofu, but New Hong Kong has aced this recipe. The food is greasy and heavy, but personally that’s what I expect when ordering chinese take out. I have had better scallion pancakes elsewhere and they did forget my soup last time I got delivery, but New Hong Kong has good promotions where if you spend a specific amount you can get a free appetizer or other freebie deals. There is seating at this business, but its more of a take out type restaurant. I will definitely continue to go back based on the quality food and pleasant demeanor of the employees.

Not good, we got General Taos and Sesame Chicken and it was really soggy. The egg roll was gross and the beef Teriyaki was fatty and not good. I would not recommend this place at all

This was my first time trying NHK and I ordered with the expectation that quality would be subpar. Delivery man was fast and very friendly. Portions are huge. For low — cost chinese takeout, it was what I expected: off –putting colors and a dumpload of questionable flavourings. Though, after eating, while I didn’t get sick, the sodium was making me groggy and extremely fatigued. I never felt that tired and weak after eating any kind form of Chinese takeout. My body was definitely struggling to digest and see if it could get any(if any) nutrients out of that stuff. If someone wants to order to power through the night for exams… I personally wouldn’t choose here.

People who work here are super nice. I got pickup and ordered General Gao/Tao/Tso whatever chicken and got a veggie spring roll and BBQ spare ribs as apps which came with fried rice. Classic Chi-merican which I thought was really good. Fast, cheap and tasty… what more do you need???

This place has some nasty Chinese food. The only reasons they are still open are because they deliver so late, and the food is dirt cheap. Anybody who gives this place more than 2 stars lacks a palate and a soul. The«all day specials» are good if you’re drunk or in some other ‘altered’ state of mind. The only redeemable dish I’ve tried here is the mapo tofu. Everything else is poorly prepared(in advance) and made with some of the worst ingredients ever. Delivery time ranges anywhere between scary fast(8 mins is my record, no joke) and«I-forgot-I-ordered» slow(like 1.5 hours).

After I have ordered food, i decided to take a look on Unilocal. And read horrifying cockroach stories, got scared… Food arrived on time. It smelled very weird. Fried shrimp was absolutely worst shrimp i had in my life, had some«natural» dirt and the breading was thick and oily as hell… Crab rangoons are very poor with crab filling… Veggie fried rice — nothing like a real fried rice. Veggies were steamed or boiled, rice was steamed as well, but yellow. Chicken with veggies the only reason i give 2 stars, but even that was very juicy, I mean the sauce made my stomach feel weird… WHITERICEWITHNOTHING was the best thing in my entire order. Total waste of 30 $… Not coming back. Cheap but not good.

Convenient and cheap, but the food’s not that great. We’ve ordered from here about 3 – 4 times already, and I liked it the first time we got food from here, but I’m starting to question the quality of the food. The chow mein fun and the beef chow fun noodles seemed dried out. The chow fun was too thin and seemed like it was leftover. The dishes didn’t seem fresh. The egg drop soup was also way too salty and full of MSG. It was way too heavy and thick.

As a BC grad, I can honestly say NHK made my college experience a lot more enjoyable thanks to their awesome all day special deals. Don’t expect authentic Chinese food taste from this place. Everything here is greasy, salty, and did I mention greasy? BUT, it is VERYTASTY. When you order from the all day special, you have a variety of options. You get to choose two different appetizers along with your main dish. For apps, I usually go with chicken wings and crab rangoons. Their crab rangoons couldn’t be any more fake, but for some reason they taste amazingly delicious. Their chicken wings are super amazing but don’t be surprised if you find chicken hair/fur still hanging by the skin. pretty gross yes but again it just tastes so good you can’t help but eat it. For the main dish, anything is pretty good but just avoid sweet&sour chicken. It’s literally just fried chicken topped with grossly looking pink-ish sauce. Avoid it at all cost. But everything else will definitely satisfy your need. Their delivery time is not very consistent. Sometimes they will be super fast but other days not so fast. it really depends how busy they are and how many orders they are delivering in one drive. but in any case, if you go to BC or liver nearby in Brighton, definitely try ordering from this place.

This is probably the worst Sweet and Sour Chicken I’ve had in my entire life. I feel bad writing this because the people who work there are nice but I just don’t like the food there and I don’t think I will order from them ever again. The Sweet and Sour Chicken was bland. Yes, this is an oxymoron: bland sweet and sour chicken. They use a heavily breaded chicken strip, that’s super doughy and the meat is dry. I felt like I was chewing a wad of wet paper towel. The sauce is thin and didn’t even cover the chicken pieces well. Definitely skip that and order the General Chicken instead. The fried rice and General’s Chicken would be your best bets if you were to buy from this store. Those two dishes were decent. As for the appetizers, the crab rangoon is basically a wonton filled with cream cheese. I didn’t see any crab pieces in my «crab» rangoon. The eggroll tastes like those frozen ones that you can buy from Safeway or Costco. They’re not bad but I think they can try a little harder. The scallion pancakes were extremely oily. Now, I DO understand that Chinese food is greasy, but I’ve had scallion pancakes from other restaurants and they were not as greasy as New Hong Kong’s.(I like the scallion pancake from Sweet Pepper down the street. They even give you spicy peanut sauce with it). They do give generous portions at a cheap price so that’s a plus for starving college students. Honestly though: if I were a broke college student, I would rather eat Taco Bell or McDonald’s. My tastebuds would be much happier if I spent my limited funds there.
