Old Manse Inn

As a first timer at a B&B, I am not positive I would choose a B&B over a hotel again but this B&B was amazing! I would rate it a 4.5÷5 but rounded up.
I stayed here with my boyfriend for two nights. I feel like this place is geared towards older couples and felt a little out of place (being that we are in our early 20s) but I kind of expected that from a B&B. Brian and Charlie both seem like great people. Brian was the one helping us more throughout our stay; he answered any questions we had and offered his advice when we were planning our days. Charlie seemed more like the behind the scenes guy. Maybe we just happened to always catch Brian.
The room had a tiny bathroom with a toilet and a shower, with the sink in the same room as the bed (which was a huge, super comfortable bed). The breakfasts each morning were delicious! Also, they provide complimentary bikes which is awesome since the Cape Cod Rail Trail is so close! Each floor had a section with a Keurig, a stocked mini fridge, and cookies! Downstairs there were chocolates, animal crackers, and a cabinet filled with games like Jenga and Scrabble. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay.

This is ABSOLUTELY THE BEST hotel I have ever stayed in. Brian is really really friendly.

Great location and a beautiful house. The proprietors, Brian and Charlie, were extremely friendly and welcoming. It was great having the coffee and snack stations around the house. We stayed there for a wedding, so we did not get to fully enjoy all the extras that they had to offer. There were games, patios and the garden on the grounds as well as plenty of sitting room and activities inside. Not only did they accommodate for numerous dietary restrictions, all the food was delicious. Highly recommend here to stay!

Stop what you’re doing, and get to the Old Manse Inn.
For our first time in the Cape, we had no idea where to stay. Stellar reviews on Unilocal and TripAdvisor led us here and did not lead us astray. From the second we pulled in the driveway, we felt at home. Lovely manicured grounds with flowers exploding into bloom from every direction.
We were greeted at the front door by Barb, who was so cheery and pleasant. She gave us a tour and led us to our room. Listing the available amenities and «little things» could go on for days, but to summarize a few most memorable ones: we loved the cookies, drinks, and snacks locating within reach of any part of the Inn. For after dinner, there are decanters of port and sherry with biscotti for your pleasure. There are plenty of games, books, and movies tucked throughout the Inn to be used as entertainment as well as beach towels and chairs that you can take to the beach with you. (This was so convenient as we flew in and could not bring our own). Keurigs and mini fridges were placed throughout as well. The yard had croquet set up for you.
The property itself is beautiful, and the Inn evokes a gentle sophistication and elegance of yesteryear. The rooms were spacious, appointed with antique furniture, and had sheets that were smooth as butter. Breakfast was a work of art itself. It started with lovely berry parfait and was finished with eggs benedict in a chive hollandaise sauce over hash browns and a bed of greens accompanied by toast. There are other options you can choose from if the menu of the day is not desired, and they are very accommodating to allergies and restrictive diets.
I could go on for days, but I will leave it with this: If you have any question on where to stay, stop what you’re doing and stay here.

We just arrived back from our Mini Moon at the Old Manse Inn. We had such a wonderful stay. The inn is really beautiful and we felt so at home. On our arrival we had a congratulations balloon and some chocolates waiting for us. Such a nice touch. The owners were very approachable and nice. They couldn’t do enough to make our stay comfortable.
Breakfast was delicious on both days. Eggs, French toast, fruit. fantastic!
Coffee on every floor with cookies. Also port and sherry available in the drawing room. Bottles water also available too.
The bed was very comfortable and the room was incredibly clean and pretty.
TV was a little small but there is so much to do in cape cod. who needs TV.
We had a really lovely stay and will be back.

I spent a week at the Old Manse Inn and it was fantastic. The location is spot on and the landscape is straight out of a Monet painting. My room was very comfortable, extremely clean and was right next to the coffee area where they keep a stash of delicious cookies! Every morning Brian and Charlie served a delicious gourmet breakfast and a fresh cup of java. If you ever decide to visit the Cape… this is the place to stay. 5 stars all the way!!!

I’ve always used hotels in the past, so this was my first time in a B&B, and the Old Manse Inn sure set a high standard for future inns to live up to. It’s a classic Cape Cod B&B that ticks all your boxes as well as those you didn’t know you had.
The staff was courteous, helpful and welcoming. Breakfast was adventurous and delicious, and the inn was lovingly stocked with games, books and cookies.
Individual bathrooms and air conditioning were more than welcome.
Highly recommended!

Brian and Charlie have created a wonderful experience at this charming old inn. We’ve always loved Brewster and this area of the Cape, it’s quiet and beautiful. Our room at the Old Manse Inn had a comfortable bed and the entire inn is full of lovely touches. Coffee and cookies are available on every floor. Port and sherry is out in the evening. The breakfast was delicious. We will definitely be back.

My girlfriend and I stayed at this bed and breakfast for our anniversary and loved it. We were greeted with warmth and kindness and showed to our room. To my surprise the pictures did not do this room justice. It was beautiful! Large jacuzzi tub, fireplace, soft warm sheets. Oh my goodness I couldn’t believe it. When we woke up the next day Brian and Charlie greeted us and we sat for breakfast. The day before Brian asked if we had a preference or allergies and we both said no. We got a delicious fruit salad and cranberry orange pancakes with warmed syrup. It was delicious. We chatted with Brian and Charlie before we left and it felt so natural talking to them. They seem to love what they do and we loved staying there! We did not want to leave. We just arrived home and are ready to go back. Please if you’re thinking of going to the Old Manse Inn, don’t think about it anymore. Just go!

We just spent the weekend in Cape Cod for the first time and had the pleasure of staying in this beautiful establishment. The hospitality and attention was stupendous. Brian was awesome with everything he did for is as far as information of where to go, and also remembering that it was our anniversary and having a small gift for us. Thoughtful, that almost brought tears to my wife’s eyes. Those cookies on every floor were amazing! And having a coffee station along with the cookies also was a delight. They provided us with beach towels and had beach chairs which we didn’t use, but were available. This place is so cozy that we will definitely return when we return to the Cape. This fine B & B is also situated in a great place that is a decent distance from All the other small towns that surround it. I 100% recommend this place.

Delightful stay in Cape Cod!
Everything about our experience staying here was excellent. The room was exceptionally clean, spacious and very quiet. The location could not have been better for the town. The staff went above and beyond to try to make our stay comfortable and nice and the breakfast was good as well. We lost a couple of days due to an emergency situation we came through right before our vacation, but we were kindly offered to stay in the hotel a couple of days for free at any time as reimbursement. We were deeply touched by this gesture. Highly recommend staying in this place! This place is awesome!

Wonderful Inn, lovely new owners, great stay!
Spent 2 nights here this past weekend and was happy to see The Old Manse lives up to all the stellar reviews posted by previous guests. Beautifully kept in, cute and cozy, great breakfast, very clean, and spectacular hospitality by both the old and new innkeepers. Was very pleased to be able to meet the previous innkeepers, Karen and Richard — best of luck to you both! But also so happy to be able to welcome the new innkeepers, Charlie and Brian, and Rufus too. We stayed in The Vineyard room, accommodated with a plush king size four poster bed, luxurious bedding, a wonderful 2 person jacuzzi in the bathroom, and cozy gas fireplace. This was perfect for our winter getaway! I can only imagine how beautiful the grounds will be in the summer, and being a long time vacationer on Cape Cod, I will not hesitate to recommend to others as well as visit again.

My fiancé and I stayed here recently while attending a wedding and I have to say it was awesome — one of the few 5 star reviews I’ve given. Even with the good reviews we have seen, this place surpassed our expectations. When we first arrived, we were treated to a quick tour of the house by Rich, and we were learned a lot of interesting history about the house as well as the surrounding area. Quickly thereafter we met Karen, who serves as the house chef (more on that in a bit). It’s obvious from talking to both of them that this is something they truly love doing. Their passion and enthusiasm made the stay even better than it otherwise would have been.
Our room was, as my fiancé likes to say, adorable. The room, as much of the inn, has décor typical from Brewster’s past — paintings of ships, antique furniture, etc. There is a gameroom, a patio, and they even have sherry and port just in case you need a nightcap. And saving the best for last — the breakfasts! They go all out. Nothing small or halfhearted here. Three words to best describe breakfast at Old Manse Inn: delicious, substantive, and (as breakfasts go) healthy. Here is a sample of what we had:
Day 1: cantaloupe mojito, breakfast burrito with spicy cheese sauce, homemade tomato and mango salsa, and Vermont maple sausage
Day 2: strawberry yogurt and granola parfait, heavenly herbed eggs, oven-​baked bacon, and banana walnut berry muffins
Day 3: fruit salad in poppyseed glaze, blueberry stuffed french toast, and Vermont maple sausage
Everything was freshly prepared and the presentation was what you might expect at a high end restaurant.
Classy establishment…

We went to Cape Cod on a whim one weekend (May 14 – 15, 2011). The evening came and we were still hotel-​less. Thank god for smart phones (when it works that is… I have T-​Mobile and while I love their customer service, their coverage sux). Luckily we managed to research some B&B while we had signal. The choice in Brewster for us came down to Candleberry Inn and Manse Inn (and they are across from each other). However, the Manse Inn called my name when I found out they have complementary cookies! I know… I’m shallow like that.
So we inquired about vacancy, and hey… lucky us, we got the last room! It’s the Rose Room on the second floor, and the name says it all. It’s pink with 4 poster bed and an in-​suite bathroom. It’s a basic room but very adequate for our purpose. Oh… and a side note, one thing I like is the setup of the room, because it has a split bathroom. I believe the room is around $ 135 before tax (low season price). And they did have cookies! I managed to grab a chocolate chip and cranberry cookie — it was a-​ma-​zing!
Rich, the owner, was very nice and friendly, and was quite helpful with recommendations of places to eat and things to do. We went to Brewster Fish House based on his recommendation, but that will be in a different review.
Breakfast-​wise, I’d have to be honest. It was a nice breakfast, but nothing to write home about. It could be that we were in a low season, so the breakfast wasn’t as gourmet as it could be. The OJ was freshly squeezed, and the coffee was Green Mountain. First we had strawberry parfait with vanilla yogurt and granola. However, I didn’t think the granola was homemade. Then we had vegetable and cheese egg frittata with a side of bacon. It was a normal egg dish that I could make at home, and the bacon tasted like normal bacon you can get at normal grocery stores. I should say that I did have high expectations for breakfast, one because of all the reviews I read, and two, the owner (Rich) also sold it to me.
There’s another thing that I have to mention about this place. It is a very old place. With age, comes wisdom… but it also comes with creaking floors and minimal soundproofing. We were sleeping (or trying to sleep, I should say), and I can hear (very clearly) the whole conversation going on in the living room downstairs. I think partly the people were being inconsiderate with their volume. But the old house didn’t help either. I could hear creaks when people walk as well. I don’t mind creaks, but loud discussion about why someone’s daughter couldn’t have grandkids soon enough is kinda annoying, to say it mildly.
In summary,
Cookies — 5 stars
Rich (owner) — 5 stars
Room (clean, comfortable) — 5 stars
Noise — 2 stars
Breakfast — 3stars.
So I’d give it 4 stars overall. Oh… and 5 stars for Princess Magnolia, the gorgeous Portuguese Water dog.

What a lovely bed&breakfast place located in lower cape (Brewster)!
It was exactly what we had expected from their website.
Went here for our one year anniversary (not marriage lol) this past weekend and stayed for one night. It is still off-​season, so there was only one other couple staying at the b&b. The place has a game room, a living room with a piano, kitchen, dining room, and accomodates free coffee and tea which you can get any time of the day/​night.
Our room was fantastic. We stayed in the admiral suite which is located on the first floor. The canopy bed was gorgeous… just like the picture indicated. The room also has a gas stove and a TV. It includes a bathroom which comes with two sinks, a shower, and a JACUZZI ! :)
The hosts were very lovely and they were willing to help us out in every way possible. We did a lot of Unilocal searches for things to do, restaurants, scenary etc., and when we asked for their opinions on either a specific restaurant or what to do, they were easily able to provide us all the information we needed.
For breakfast, they served us strawberry parfait with eggs benedict, which were all very delicious!
I highly recommend this b&b place if you are ever heading down to the cape for a special occasion. And if we ever get a chance to return, I want to spend more than just one night!

An old sea captain’s home, turned into a gorgeous B&B. A gourmet breakfast is served in an elegant dining room lined with the oak paneling and beams that were installed a century ago.
The guest rooms and suites are luxurious, with hand inlaid fireplaces, antique armoires, period furnishings, canopied beds, oriental carpets, and handsome marine and landscape paintings throughout the inn.
I’ve been here several times over the years and love every minute of my stay.
