The good: I had a nice experience with the staff here… my exam went nicely… the doctor seemed nice and asked all the right questions etc. The selection of eye wear was excellent and I do love the look of my glasses. The not so good: I bought the specialty lenses which allow me to see near and far. When I picked up my glasses I explained that I could not see close up at all. I was told that I would get use to seeing better over time. I called and was told the same thing. Sadly nothing improved. If I was to read, look at the computer etc I have to take my glasses off… and it’s a pain. I’ve had glasses for about 40 years and have never had to do this… They were not listening to me… they glasses/prescription are obviously wrong. I wanted to like this place… I liked the service at the time of my initial appointment… but it ended there. I’ve been toughing it out with these lenses because I cannot afford afford another $ 400 or whatever it would cost to correct.

I love my doctor at this location. He is just wonderful and very knowledgeable. BUT, the optical shop is extremely uncooperative and difficult to deal with. I wish the doctors would get together and hire some better people to assist patients with their prescription glasses and eye contacts. I have purchased five glasses with prescription from them and unfortunately I purchased all five at one time, which I should not have since they have not done a good job in any of them. I have gone back and asked them to please fix the problem but they have an attitude and that makes it more difficult for me. I am considering changing my eye doctor to one at MGH since they have a better optical shop at their location and VERY knowledgeable!

I had my appt with Dr. Thurm and he was great. Very personable and answered all my questions. The front desk staff was nice too. Didn’t wait long at all for my appointment either! The cost of contacts was a little high but they are good quality — plus, free shipping to my door. Can’t beat that!

The doctors are really good. But don’t buy your contacts from here. They are way more expensive than other places. You will save lot of money if you buy your contacts online. You don’t even get the full rebate which they might have told you.

My first time there & I absolutely loved it. Now, the receptionist can make or break a review for a doctor — no matter how good the doctor is — and I’m happy to say that I’ve finally found an eye doctor practice close to home that has a NICE receptionist! Apparently, she was the only one there(I only found this out after the doc had told me before I left & said that I could pay my copay by mail or when I picked up my contacts because of how busy the front desk was) & the phones were ringing off the hook — she didn’t give any attitude, wasn’t snippy with patients, and didn’t act as though she didn’t want to be there. She was awesome — a cagillion stars for her. I met with Dr. Yeung Landerville. She was, by far, one of the best doctors I have ever had. She was thorough, took her time, and was pleasant throughout the whole visit. I didn’t feel rushed and I felt very at ease. I was explained all of my benefits & what would be a good choice for me as far as contacts. It was great. Another cogillion stars for her. I highly recommend this establishment — it’s easy to get to, nice & clean, and the staff kicks ass.

I called today because of the reviews I read on here. Girl on the phone«Are you a former customer»? Me «No». Girl on phone«can I have your last name? Can I have your first name ?, can I have your social security »? Me «No to the social security» Girl«I thought you said you were a customer here»? Me «No» I then ask her if I could set up an eye appointment. Girl«What would be a good day or time for you»? Me «Any time next week is good» Girl«Oh no, we don’t have any openings till at least the 20th». Me «The 20th !, that’s almost 2 weeks away, your booked every day and time until the 20th? Today is the 8th ! I told her no thanks and ended the call.

It may sound weird to say you love your eye doctor, but hate eye exams. But such is life, or at least mine. I was referred to Dr. DeLugan by my Primary Care Physician, who assured me that he was the best(and in fact, my PCP visits Dr. DeLugan for HIS eye exams) — that was enough to convince me. I’ve now been going to Blue Hills Eye Associates for 4 years, and have seen both Dr. DeLugan and Dr. Thurm at different times depending on schedules. I absolutely love this place. The doctors are not only thorough and knowledgeable, but they always remember you(even if you just visit for annual appointments), they are super friendly and there just really isn’t anything not to like about the whole experience. Except all the bright lights in your eyes. Those really suck.

I’ve been seeing Dr. DeLugan here since I first got glasses, so probably 20 years or so. He has always been very professional and friendly, and remembers me even when I go two years between visits. He fit me for my first pair of contact lenses when I was young, and I remember he was very good at showing me how to put them in and care for them. It’s always been easy to get an appointment at a time that works for me, whether that’s evening or morning. I highly recommend his practice.

Would highly recommend this practice. Dr. DeLugan is excellent, thorough, easy to talk to. Good selection of frames, nice setting. At end of Wood Road… hopefully the potholes have been filled in by now.

I sometimes get nervous when going to new«doctors»(of all sorts). I previously went to Dr. Heron at Lenscrafters at the south shore plaza. He is awesome but my insurance does not help me much to see him. So now i am going to Blue Hills Eye Associates. They are super nice and very helpful. My insurance covers an eye apt every other year and $ 100 towards glasses. Blue HIlls Eye Assoc. was great because they offer a lot of different styles of frames at decent prices and they also gave my 10% off anything that i was paying out of pocket after insurance. They seem like they want to help you afford good eye care and they arent pushy with the sales of frames(i didnt feel like i was being asked to purchase anything higher priced than whatever my comfort level and wallet allowed for). Ill be back!

I freaking heart this place. The doctors have great sense of humors and know what they’re doing. The girls who work in the optical department are amazing. In fact, Jody has helped me pick out two radical pairs of specs that always get compliments from others. Seriously, she hasn’t steered me wrong yet. They have a great selection of frames and pretty decent prices compared to other places in the area. I highly recommend!
