My husband and I are avid collectors of all things mid-​century modern. We visited The Amazing Garage Sale last year on our way up to Estes Park and bought a few things. I thought the items and prices were wonderful. Today we visited again, and I was less than pleased. Were the items cool? Yes. As a matter of fact, when we walked in I immediately zeroed in on an awesome couch that I wanted to purchase with the wad of cash burning a hole in my pocket. Were the prices reasonable? Sure. Said couch was exactly in my budget. Plus, we were ready with the truck to take that baby home. Problem is, after driving for a good amount of time on our way back from Estes Park, my bladder was ready to burst. After a few minutes of browsing, I had to pull my eyes away from the goodies and head to the bathroom. I find the lady running the shop and I ask if I can use the restroom, which she was literally standing in front of. This was her response: «I’m sorry, but we don’t have a public restroom. But down the street there is a gas station. If you don’t want to use that one though, a little further up the road there are some fun stores and coffee shops». I’m standing in front of this woman, in front of this «private» restroom, doing a pee dance, money burning a hole in my pocket, and she is basically sending me and my money elsewhere. Well, elsewhere we went. I peed at the gas station, refilled the bladder with delicious coffee, and blew my cash at all the cute little shops down the way. You were right, lady. Things were much better down the road from your shop.

We always enjoy this shop and have found quite a few fun pieces of furniture over the years from tables to chairs to trinkets. Sometimes there is a little wiggle room, and I’m shameless about ‘negotiating.’

I stopped in looking for chairs, I was greeted at the door by the owner who told me to watch my child because «this wasn’t a toy store». I proceeded through the store as she followed close behind us. Every step i took she was one step behind me making sure my child didn’t touch anything or break anything. It was so hard to look at anything because she made me so uncomfortable. Im pretty sure I can manage my child and make sure nothing is touched or broken. If you don’t want children in your store you should have a sign at the door letting people know that you will make them as uncomfortable as possible until they leave. I was really interested in a chair, but had to leave because I was afraid I was going to snap on her. There are plenty of other stores around that will welcome me and my family and not make me feel like I just brought a heard of cattle shopping with me!!! I will never again visit this store.

Always have a great experience here! The owner is very knowledgeable and friendly, and the store always has new and unique mid century furniture, jewelery, and art. I make it a point to come at least once a month!

This place is awesome! The owner has a great eye for the things that come in there, lots of unique and fun pieces. The customer service is great; the owner and employees always greet customers and make sure to say thanks for coming. I love swinging by to see what’s in there as it’s ever changing. A must see if your shopping in Boulder.

There are no doubt some interesting pieces in this place, but the prices are outrageous. Most of this stuff is culled from Craigslist and second hand shops and marked up about 300%. I know for a fact of one couple who went back to a shop in Longmont to get a dresser for 40 bucks they saw a day earlier. When they got there it was gone. The guy admitted he had sold it to «The Amazing Garage Sale lady». Sure enough the next day it was there marked up to $ 499. Listen, I get it she has to make a living and good for her! i just don’t want to be the one getting pilfered on the mark up. This stuff is all over if you just dig for it a bit. Some people don’t have the time though and that’s where this place comes in handy. I too have been told to absolutely watch every step, and please don’t knock those over or you will have to pay for it type stuff with the owner. Not Faberge eggs. Just old furniture. I think this place is worth a look, but I won’t buy from there again. I may go in to just be in the presence of the overwhelming attitude of the owner though. It’s kind of a trip. I like it!

I do quite a bit of antique, thrift, consignment, and garage saling and found this shop, though thoroughly fun to look through, quite over priced. I’m definitely all for paying out the nose for some beautiful vintage Eames chairs, but to be met at the door and told that almost everything in the store is «irreplaceable and priceless», not so sure about that.
I also had a bit of an issue with the way I was treated at the shop. I was literally met at the door, because I had my children with me, and warned that this was not a shop for children. My children are not toddlers and understood when both she, and then I, explained that they couldn’t touch anything and why. She then proceeded to follow us through the store, constantly reiterating the importance of not touching the priceless pieces. I basically did a quick survey and left for fear of getting so frsutrated that I might snap at her. I get it. But, I also expect a little courtesy and respect. If I had a couple hellions and was told that there were priceless items about, I, as an adult, wouldn’t bring my kids in. Not the way to make a potential customer feel welcome.

The best selection of Mid century I’ve found in the Greater Denver area. The owner has a keen eye for unique pieces, and an excellent sense of style. I bought a Mid century headboard, and a DWR table lamp, and was given very reasonable prices.

I have been buying and selling furniture at the Amazing Garage Sale for years. I love the changing inventory and every time someone compliments something in my home, it is invariably something I bought there. The owner, Judi, has a keen eye for gorgeous pieces as well as unique items that will perfectly compliment the home for the right buyer. I think Judi is a pleasure to work with and I really appreciate that. More importantly, she is professional, direct and fair.
I HIGHLY recommend this store. It is not a cookie cutter kind of place. It fits beautifully within Boulder!

I found a really incredible mid-​century modern credenza here! It is in great condition except for a few scuffs and scratches on the surface. I thought that the piece was slightly overpriced because there was almost the exact same credenza in Denver for $ 100 less than the sticker price here. When I brought this to the Owner’s attention, she agreed to match the price which I thought was very professional and good business.
Although, I am really pleased with the purchased item. I gave this business 3 stars because I was uncomfortable giving my credit card # over the phone to hold the credenza, until I was able to pick it up. It is really an unsettling feeling to think of your credit card # written down on a piece of paper. In hindsight, I would probably not do that again just for security’s sake. The transaction went smoothly, but this really made me uncomfortable. Perhaps, if this is standard policy for the business in order to hold an item until pick-​up, the Owner (or whomever is taking the cc# over the phone) should assure the customer that it will be properly secured and disposed of securely once the transaction has been processed.

My favorite furniture store in boulder! Gorgeous vintage pieces that have amazing style no pun intended. I have been shopping here for years and love everything that I’ve purchased! The owner is super friendly and sweet always offering payment plans and making it easy to fall in love with a new to me cool eclectic piece. Really the only place I’ve seen in boulder with affordable used designer furniture. I would recommend this place to anyone who has great taste and loves to decorate.

I stopped into Amazing Garage Sale for the first time after it was recommended to me by a friend as a fun and funky place to check out. I had an overall positive experience, and ended up finding three really great, unique holiday gifts. I logged onto Unilocal to see what people are saying just out of curiosity and am genuinely surprised by the negative reviews. Judi was helpful, friendly, and by my intuitive read of her, seemed genuine and not trying to overtly sell me anything as has been mentioned by others. Obviously each person has their own dynamics with everyone they encounter but I feel like I’ve experienced intrusive salespeople and she really didn’t strike me as one of them. The impression that I got was that this place is her labor of love and that she hand-​selects each piece according to her own sense of style and taste. She explained that she doesn’t always know who the original artists or craftsmen or age of piece are; that the pieces are brought in by consigners.
Anyway, regardless of what others think, I say this is a great place to find furniture and decorative mid century pieces and to hunt for really great jewelry.

Interesting, i never got any bad vibes from Judi or this store, but now i’m rerunning the tapes in my head to see if i missed something! I’ve bought a couple of things from her store over the last year. We recently bought a mid-​mod house, so i like going to shops looking for «Mad Men» furniture. Found some nice credenzas at the Amazing Garage Sale. Prices seemed fair … her stuff is usually refinished to get the scuffs and dings out, which saves me time and effort. As for authenticity, i buy stuff because i like it and i think it will work well in my house. I never thought to care about whether the «name brand» was legit. But i guess folks who care about that should confirm things. I can vouch for the fact that Judi trusts people to pay her whenever. We stopped by recently on an unexpected side trip and found two things we liked … but without a check in my wallet. She offered to give us a discount if we paid in cash/​check (not unusual in this new world of high credit card fees). Judi let us take one item home, and then come back with our check when we picked up the second item. All based on a little scrap of paper «promissory note». Maybe she’s just a good read of people (we paid her same day), but i don’t know too many other stores that would have let us do that.

Very interesting to see the reviews here… I stopped in randomly after visiting one of the other businesses in this business park (there are lots of interesting ones by the way — wander around).
Disclaimer — I am not an experienced bargain hunter, antique store person or otherwise. I’m basically out of my depths when it doesn’t concern sports or computer stuffs. And definitely fish out of water when it comes to furniture!
I found the stuff to be a bit pricey — no idea of the actual value/​quality of a lot of the things. I examined a dresser pretty closely, it seemed well constructed, although not exactly sturdy. Not sure what class of furniture it goes into, but here it was in the $ 400 variety. It was very tempting though, other than the price.
Judging from what i saw and have now read, I guess I won’t be going back. Probably less sketchy places to shop and definitely better deals to be found. Sorry!

I like to go to this place occasionally because I think the store has some fun and funky, eclectic stuff. I wonder sometimes about the true age or value of some of the items as I think the owner will stretch the truth to get a sale. Quite frankly, I would go there more often but I don’t like her style — a bit too loud and «overdone» for my shopping comfort.

I’ve been shopping here for years, and it’s a great place for finding treasures, unique antiques and unexpected furniture. It’s truly an original collection. I have found great presents for my family (hard to shop for folks) and many pieces for myself which I paid a fair price for and have already gotten years of use out of them. It’s worth the drive to North Boulder — go check it out for yourself!

I really never had any problems with this place. I thought the owner was really friendly and helpful. Some of the stuff was a little overpriced, but I liked alot of the things in there so i just forked over a little extra. I payed cash so I never had any problems with credit cards.
I wouldn’t say it was a high end antique store, but who really wants to go to one anyway? This place is «garage» style, with alot of unique mid-​century pieces.
Go if your into finding unique furniture for your house or just to pick up some sort of fun knick knacks. Don’t go if you’re expecting some high end stuffy antique store. Sometimes I just like to go, and see what new stuff she has in. This place is retro and fun. It’s not going to be filled with thrones and tapestries from a 16th century castle, or anything.

After posting this the other day I recieved a call from an unlisted number. The owner, Judy called me and asked me why I had posted a bad review. I told her that I wasn’t comfortable how things were handled. She just told me that it couldn’t of happened at her store instead of reassuring me of their security measures. She asked me who had taken the credit card, I told her it was a dark haired girl and she said «Oh, Melissa». BTW a 5-​star review shows up from a Melissa today — coincidence???
She then asked if I knew it was her livelihood? I told her I understand as I am a business owner and then she proceeded to THREATEN to write a negative review of my business. I then told her I would report this to Unilocal and the BBB. She called me a mean, nasty person and I ended up hanging up on her.

I’ve stopped here a couple times, and each time walked away thinking WTH? The merch is overpriced, some of it may or may not be collectible, and the lady who runs the place uses the desperation card a little too early to try to clinch the sale.
