Silver Saddle Motel

I was quite skeptical making a reservation to stay here and I was delighted. The location is great, near the Pearl Street mall… but also near the more natural trails. Our room was quite clean. The bathroom, shower, etc. were great and towels were new and fluffy. Microwave is there and frig is there. Coffee pot with coffee. Parking available right outside the door. The beds were not luxury, but they were fine and for a great price like this I do not expect Hilton beds! A bit dated, yes, but I would rather have «dated» and pay a lot less. The owners were very very nice and took care of me well. I would definitely stay there again.

Stayed in the motel portion not the cabins. Room was outdated and worn. I can deal with all of that but the room itself was dirty. if the room was cleaned well I wouldnt have had any issue with the place.

I echo what my friend Pat said in July of 2013 as far as the general accommodations; however after my short stay a few weeks ago, and having a regrettable conversation with the seemingly fanatical owner, who called himself «Will» I began to feel very uncomfortable and became curious who he was… I googled his name (s) and found out he was a felon. Don’t think I will be going back there, in terms of cleanliness, or an owner who shares too much of his unsolicited beliefs…

If brand new furnishings are what you need, by all means go somewhere trendy. The inside of our spacious and comfortable suite was nothing compared to the spectacular views from both front and back windows, and the proximity of both Boulder Canyon and downtown Pearl Street is amazing, as was the price of a night’s lodging. Can’t wait to come back.

This place is cool ! it reminds me of the first apartment I ever had, in Burbank Calif., in the 70s. No mamsy pamsy frills, relaxed and in the most beautiful spot in all of boulder The housekeeper is a stone cold fox, and you would be completely comfortable drinking a beer on the porch while some kids ride by on bicycles and wave at you. Try and get the far west corner room, the view is killer. Without doubt, the least sterile and most fun relaxing motel Ive been in, The staff are warm real people, and the smiles are genuine. It loses half a point for the too soft bed. we loved it here, and will return someday.

Great location & great views. Dated & a little run down as mentioned in other reviews. Fine for a short stay.

We stayed at the Silver Saddle June 23 — July 1, 2013. Our initial review started out with a much higher rating, but with our extended stay it crashed fast. Overall, this is a place to sleep and store your stuff with a great location. We will not be back.
Moving in was awesome. Our flight was delayed due to weather so we did not make it in till around 2am. The staff was great about accommodating our late arrival, given that the office closes at 9pm. We were able to get into our room with no problems. The only thing that we noticed is that our room we reserved had now changed, no big deal as we assumed all rooms were created equal…
Waking up on day one of our trip, we noticed that our reservation changed from double occupancy to single, yet our rate stayed the same. No problem except for the fact that single occupancy means one towel in the bathroom, a smaller fridge than what our neighbors had, and overall missing quite a few amenities expected… We brought this to the attention of the staff, and they just seemed confused and said that they would bring us anything we needed and room service would take care of towels, etc. Not that big of a deal to us because we were just staying here to sleep and were gone most of the day.
We got in after 9 the first day, and noticed that room service had not come and we were still stuck with the one towel. I called the next morning asking if we could get some extra towels and the courteous staff obliged and met me outside with a few. I mentioned that room service had not made it by, and he mentioned that he would take care of that. They did come by that day, made the bed and hung up some fresh towels. What we figured out is that if you need service of any kind (towels, coffee, toilet paper, etc), you HAVE to call and ask… Nothing is automatic and the certainly do not go out of their way without being asked to do so.
Our trip happened to be during one of the hottest times of the year. Fortunately, these room have an ancient «swamp cooler» ac unit that sort of takes the edge off. We were instructed to open our windows and run that at full blast all day for comfort. The downside to this is that our room turned into a moldy, stinky mess! The carpet, bed sheets and all of our clothes accumulated moisture and never dried out. Our room and our clothes smelled terrible from day 3 till our trip was over. My advice would be to hang up your clothes in the car port and park outside. And definitely wear flip flops at all times in the room. Moisture built up on 50 year old carpet is not pleasant to walk on.
The kitchen was decent… The first thing I noticed was a sign that stated you would be charged $ 25-​$ 50 if you didn’t clean up your mess and leave the kitchen as you found it. This is not a problem with us, we always clean up our own mess. The only problem I had with this policy is that there were dirty dishes left behind and even a few empty food containers with crumbs in the cabinets… There was one package of maxwell house coffee that came with the room and was never re-​supplied. We purchased some good coffee at the store along with filters to finish out our trip.
Overall, stay here if you want a step up from a tent. It is a great location and the staff was very friendly, but do not expect anything unless you ask for it. I had an extremely hard time not leaving a tip for the room service except for the fact that they only showed up twice during our 8 night stay (and we had to ask for it both times). Our room was dated, which is not a problem until we saw both of our neighbors rooms and noticed they had much better upgrades (including the room we were originally booked for and moved out of). After visiting with a few locals, the rumors are that the owner’s are not putting any money into the place as they are waiting for the right offer to buy it out. The real estate value on that land must be insane! There is no way I could recommend this place to anyone…
Ending this, I must say that writing such a review really tugs at me. Our expectations are very low on a place like this and I was surprised that it turned out so much worse. We probably could have been moved to a better room and given more service, but we really didn’t want to have to ask for it. We wanted to give the place a chance to prove themselves without us asking, and that did not happen…

My family and I stayed here for two nights. We rented the «house» because we had our young kids, age 1, 3, and 5. The place was fine. It was clean and spacious. Certainly, this motel is no frills I won’t say it is «run down» as some other posts do. I will say it is dated and worn, but for the money per night that is to be expected.
The location is fantastic. Right on the Boulder Creek Trail, a super quick drive from town, or walkable if you don’t have toddlers in tow.
The problem for us were the dogs on the property. It is pet-​friendly and we had on more than one occasion visits from a huge Saint Bernard and Pit Bull Terrier. The dogs outweighed my kids by about 120lbs, and their owners seemed totally fine to let them wander, too close for my or my husband’s comfort level. So our last night, we actually moved to the neighboring property, The Foot of the Mountain Motel.
The Foot of the Mountain Motel is way nicer than the Silver Saddle. Try there first. But this place is good for the location, accommodations, and value.

This motel is definitely very dated but if you can get past the 70’s/80’s décor, occasional bug, a not so great shower head, and no hair drier, its actually a nice inexpensive place to stay (especially if you were just camping for the past few days).
The staff were very friendly, helpful, and easy going. We stayed for one night (which I reserved by phone the day of) and they allowed us to keep our car on the property after we checked out so we could go explore the city.
The motel is divided into individual cabins which have their own kitchen and a multi-​unit motel building. Our room was in the motel building and was pretty standard. It had two queen size beds, one in the living room and one in a separate bedroom, a microwave & refrigerator (no kitchen), two sinks (bathroom and dressing area), and surprisingly free wifi. I can’t fully comment on the quality of the beds since I might be biased but they felt amazing after sleeping outside on a pad for 6 nights
The hotel is situated within walking distance (~15−20 min) of the pearl street stores, which can be reached by following the beautiful Boulder creek walking path that passes right by the motel. There are also a few nice hiking areas very close by including Settlers’ park and Flagstaff mountain. Both offer great options for a morning workout with views of Boulder & the Flatirons.
Overall, if you are use to camping and can deal with the imperfections that come with a rustic motel, this place is an excellent inexpensive option to stay in Boulder.

Rustic Charmer
We recently stayed at the Silver Saddle Motel to attend our daughter’s wedding. What a charming place. The location can’t be beat, right along Boulder Creek. My husband is a fly fisherman and he could walk right out the front door and be on the creek. He said that the fishing is some of the best he has ever experienced. The accommodations are rustic and charming, like stepping back to a simpler time, and they have wonderful, fluffy towels. The office staff were very kind and helpful and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Came here based on the Unilocal reviews and the cheap price for the night. The location was great as the hotel sits just outside of town at the beginning of Boulder Canyon.
The front desk staff was friendly and our room was clean, however it looks as if the hotel has it’s original furnishings and carpet from the early 70’s. I’ve heard the phrase «tired» used on here before and I think it definitely applies here.
That being said, it was still a good price for being so close to downtown Boulder and definitely worked for the night. Not trying to slam the place, just not my style.

Silver Saddle is amazing! Stay there if you can! The cabins are quaint– not the cookie-​cutter type of room you get at every other hotel.
The price is right for the amenities available. We got the unit with a kitchenette and a carport– both of which we happily utilized. The location is great– right on the edge of Boulder Canyon and downtown Boulder.
The only complaints we had were a few tiny ants wandering around the cabin, but really, what is camping without ants?
If you can’t take a little bit of rustic with your hotel, this isn’t the place for you. For those of you that can, you won’t regret it!

Had the corner room on the second floor & opened the windows to sleep in fresh mountain air … Lovely!

Okay, so the rooms look a little tired. The key is location. This is our first trip to Boulder, and we threw a dart and stayed in this little hotel. The staff was friendly, the room clean, and the bed comfy. But the best part is the location of this place. The creek is 200 ft away, and there is a wonderful path that goes up the canyon along the creek, or down into town, perfect for walking, jogging, or a bike ride.
We were only able to stay one night, this trip, but we have promised ourselves to return, and spend a bit more time at the Silver Saddle.
Travel is adventure, and this is a great little adventure.
