Scott Carpenter Park

I had two bored boys with me and went in search of a park and came here. They loved the rocket structure and were enjoying the swings when they saw the pool. And what a fabulous pool it is. Adult entry fee was $ 6.25 (even if you’re not swimming) and kids were $ 5 each. There was a spacious bathroom and changing area and the poolside was not that crowded even though it was a Saturday. There aren’t many lounge chairs though, so bring a blanket. I put a towel down under the shade and read and slept.
Ok, let’s get back to the kids. The pool seemed clean and there were two lifeguards. The kids loved the long water slide and the diving boards. They also have life jackets and kick boards. Many had pool toys and were having lots of fun. Their concession stand was actually really reasonable, with most things being $ 1.50.
I highly recommend this park to anyone because the park is so beautiful, but especially to those who have kids. There is even a skateboard park that many were enjoying. We didn’t get a chance to venture past the playground but it seemed like a big property.
We were visiting from Hawaii so I was very impressed with the parks and pools on the mainland. Thank you for a great place!

The small child equipment is separated from the bigger kid play stuff. There is since grass area all around if you want to picnic and it’s pet friendly. The space theme is good for the imagination. It’s a large play ground and the skate park and pool are right next door. This whole area is great.

my neighborhood park, love that when you are up on the hill it doesn’t seem like the road is that close, you go to the west side and you can’t even see it. great playground for the kids and right next to the creek path!
one thing i hate. is some people bring their dogs there and let them crap all over the field and don’t clean it up.

We had a great day, just warm enough to be fun, bright blue sky and the snow melting on the Flatirons in the distance. We took our out-​of-​town guests and they loved it. The playground has been updated and expanded over the years and is much improved over my last visit a couple of decades ago.
The rocket is fun, especially for astronaut interested kids. After all, Scott Carpenter was Boulder’s local astronaut, before any of the «former CU student» ones, though he attended CU too. Fun to tell the story to a new generation.
This park is terribly overcrowded in the summer when the pool is open. It is Boulder Parks and Rec’s biggest outdoor pool, with limited parking. It has easy access to the Boulder Creek Path and I sometimes enter here if meeting a friend, rather than my usual spot further west. Not at all crowded today.

Great views of the Flatirons from the playground! And the rocket ship is very awesome and dramatic, although it can get super crazy as really only one kid can go up and down the inner stairs at a time. Big slide, fun NASA-​influenced ride-​on bouncers, swings of the baby sort and big kid style and a cool sand pit. The reason that I don’t absolutely love this park is that it gets SO hot in the summer as there is virtually no shade. Also, what is up with all the gravelly rock surfaces in Boulder playgrounds? NYC recently switched over to this foamy, non-​toxic playground surface and it’s so much better. It doesn’t get in your shoes and it doesn’t hurt if you fall on it.

Right on the Boulder Creek Path, I often will stop by after work just to lay on the grassy hill. Lots of space, playground equipment, a pool in the summer, and a small skatepark.

Great Park, great location. Few parks are as great in the winter as the are in the summer, but this one is. It is a great place to sled, or play catch, its right on the creek and boulder creek path and has an attached free skate park and also a great kids park. Bring your kids here, they will thank you.

This is one if not the best park in Boulder! Great sled hill in the winter, great hang out spot any other time of the year. I feel lucky to live about half a mile away.

Scott Carpenter is one of the best parks ever.
There’s a free skate park which is great for skating or biking or just watching. They have a big grass hill which is fun in the summer days, but transforms in the winter’s snow to a sledding & snowboard haven. The play area has fun features for kids of all ages.
They also have a pay per use pool, but I don’t use that.

If you have a kid, you have to take him/​her to this park. They can climb to the top of a giant rocket! There is also a big pool with a diving board and slide (dogs allowed in the pool the last few days of the season), small sledding hill, a huge grassy area (5 acres?). a skate park and softball field. It is next to the Boulder Creek bikepath. Classic Boulder park.

Yes, this park is one of a kind. It has, among other things, an echo chamber (walk between two metal soup bowls on their sides and hear your voice doubled back on itself!), a giant metal rocketship (too big for adults to climb up, so kids won’t be bothered by loitering teenagers or similar!), and a huge pool with a waterslide.
The area, despite being fairly central and between two major highways (US 36 and Hwy 157) is pleasantly quiet, hilly, and grassy with a nice view of a bunch of trees and Boulder creek. There’s a vast expanse of area in which to lie down, play sports, run, bike, or do whatever you choose without impinging on anyone else’s space.
I’ve spent nearly every weekend of the summer so far at Scott Carpenter Pool — I think it’s the best public pool my recreation pass can get me into. Two diving boards plus a vast shallow expanse (nothing over 5 ft here) and a waterslide. A big grassy area surrounding it with deck chairs aplenty. Sun and shade both, for the choosy.
And since it’s Boulder, there are non-​junk food options for snacks! They sell Fruti bars, delicious frozen fruit bars, all natural, for $ 1.50 — which I take advantage of all the time. Mmmm… concentrated mango on a hot day.

Great playground, definitely a place to check out if you are visiting Boulder.
Bring bikes, access to great Boulder county bike path system.

It was my buddy’s last day in Boulder, and a few of us had gathered outside one of our favorite bars. We made our way to the park and found ourselves a celebratory spot among the sputtering sprinklers. A great send off.
I also used to live a few blocks from this park, and I’ve had some great afternoons here. It’s a great place to ride your bike and get in some quality reading and writing. It’s also a nice place to sled in the winter.
Of course, its namesake is one of Boulder’s most famous sons, Scott Carpenter, esteemed astronaut, thus the NASA theme to the park.

This is a great Boulder park, which is highly accessible: not only does it have its own private lot, it is also is located right off of the Boulder creek path, and is close to the CU campus.
This park has a nice hill (a.k.a. kick-​ass sledding in winter) and a skate-​park which is always packed. It even has a graffiti-​wall where taggers can duel it out legally. Now that’s cool.
Oh, and check out the playground for the kids.
Beautiful and empty on moonlit nights… I love this place.

There is a giant 4+ story spaceship jungle gym. Need I really say more?
(Okay, for anyone who said yes, stop talking to your computer, and here’s the rest of the dirt. Besides the totally awesome lunar themed playground this park boasts a skatepark, pool, baseball fields and a great hill to sled on come wintertime.)
