Holiday Inn Express Boulder

TERRIBLE customer service. Assistant manager named Heath acts like he just doesn’t care about your issue and won’t lift a finger to resolve your issue. Admits wrong doing but won’t do anything to correct it. Hotel charged us $ 269 for a room that was never used and misrepresented the product. Blamed the issue on

was NOT responsible for the problem but totally took care of the issue and fought for us, the customer. I also called Holiday Inn Express corporate customer service, they admitted that poor customer service was an ongoing and documented problem with this location. Save yourself a headache and go somewhere else.

Great service and very friendly staff. Had a wedding in Boulder and everyone was very accommodating! :)

It’s the Holiday Inn Express, but this one seems to be run well and it is in great shape. We really enjoyed the small kitchenette and the fact that they allow dogs. We’re happy customers. It’s not the Ritz, but for the Holiday Inn Express, it’s better than most.

I am a HIG platinum member and stay well over 200 night a year all over the country. This is my second visit to this hotel and I would not be back if it wasn’t acceptable. I also have stays with Marriott so I do have other options.
From the standpoint of price the distance from the busy part of town allows them to offer a great rate. This is good for small companies like mine who are always conscience of spending. The rooms are in excellent shape and housekeeping does a fine job.
The breakfast area is a bit small and tight but you’re in and out quick enough. They do have 2 complete coffee stations which to me is a nice touch. Lots of Holiday Inns have only 2 however this place has there’s in an area convenient to the breakfast area. The food choices are the same in every HIE don’t expect anything special but it’s great for families on a budget. I just like the convenience.
The staff at the desk are outstanding, very friendly knowledgable and attentive. It’s a comfort to be greeted nicely at the end of a long travel and work day. Additionally I felt the desk people were sincere and liked what they do.
I’m happy to recommend this hotel for both business and pleasure travelers.

This is a nice enough hotel. Decent breakfast, clean rooms, nice staff. Standard HIX material here, and good for 3.5 stars.
But there are some logistics issues, both interior and exterior, that knock it to a 2.
Inside, the layout of the breakfast room is terrible. If you bring in your suitcase on the way out of the hotel, you will not be able to put it anywhere because the tables are right next to the buffet. The door is narrow so you can’t get in whike others are coming out with bags or kids. It sounds weird, but it was annoying every day. I suggest they blow out the wall between the buffet and the completely unused living room area.
Outside, the hotel is between a sewage plant and the projects. It is the farthest hotel from downtown Boulder that is still technically in Boulder.
And it is well above $ 150/​night? No.

Pros: continental breakfast in the morning. People seemed to like it. Popcorn at 4pm. Warm cookies at 7pm. Staff nice. Beds were comfortable. Pool was ok. Newspaper in the morning. Walls very thick, never heard anyone next to us or other rooms in the hallway. Nice to have a washer/​dryer avail… even though dryer was out of service most of the week. Free wifi, also nice to have.
CONS: From 1^st impression of hotel, you could tell this property was another hotel at one time, not too impressive. Upon entering our room it was dark around entry area (no light). Throughout our stay, toilet would would just start running loudly… and it was random, left note for maintenance. AC box unit was also loud as heck. I thought the room looked worn overall, didn’t care for outdated curtains and cheap ass wood furniture.
Our room was in the rear of the hotel, 1^st floor. You could hear and see car lights all through the night. I saw some sort of small black worm-​like bug on the bathroom floor last night, one I’ve never seen before, very gross, where did it come from? I tried to pick up up with a Kleenex, but moved away so fast, never found again. Iron offered in room was so cheap and hard to control settings, almost burnt a hole in my slacks! Also, no fan in bathroom, after taking showers, steam completely covers mirror, takes at least 10 minutes to clear, very damp in bathroom. My hair looked like shit every day I was there. Not good ventilation, could cause major problems down the road. Above ground spa (80’s era) outside was bizarre to see? wouldn’t dare enter.
I also did not care to smell rank ethnic food being warmed up in a nearby room microwave. seeping into the cracks of our room. Permeated hallways, very pungent. Smell forced me to leave the hotel at times when I didn’t have to.
This hotel seems to be pretty far away from other attractions in Boulder. Next time we are in town we will stay at the Marriott. They were booked this time, as well as many others in Boulder, but what ya gonna do?
During check out today, my husband encountered an error that the front desk made regarding his credit card/​corporate card, they charged wrong card! Not good. A big mess that he now has to deal with with cc company and days to wait for reversal of charges. Luckily, we only paid a corporate rate of $ 99 per night, as opposed to $ 200 or so rate, which is the norm here. This place is no where near worth this amount, outrageous.
I would recommend maybe staying on one of the top floors, maybe the rooms are a little better. I saw some had a nice view and not of the back lot. Overall, not totally awful, not great. These are just my observations since we were there for ‘6’ nights for a business trip, I do realize it’s an ‘express’ hotel. For a couple nights, this may be do-​able, but after 6, I was more than ready to run for the hills:) I’ve been to better express type hotels.

Good service, clean rooms, fridge in room, very generous continental breakfast. Option to receive newspaper in the morning. Overall a good stay.

During this seemingly endless flood cleanup and repair experience at my home, I was lucky enough to have FEMA allow me to stay here for several weeks (back in October 2013) at the Holiday Inn Express.
Now it’s May and the flood repair adventure continues at my home. Intermittently, although I realize I am welcome to stay either with family or friends, I sometimes opt to stay for a night or two at the Holiday Inn when the situation at home intensifies.
My stays here have been pleasant. I noticed this time around that the continental breakfast has improved. It was always just fine, but the improvements make it even better. Chobani Greek Yogurt has been added… nice touch! I kind of like the oatmeal-​in-​a-​cup they now are offering. There are other new things too. The coffee is decent, as is the orange juice. Sometimes the omelettes are not so great with the pink mushy filling (ham?) but everything else among the breakfast offerings is good.
Rooms are always clean. I prefer the rooms with balconies. Staff … excellent customer service skills. Personable and pleasant.
This is a very good place to stay in Boulder. And it’s close to everything I would like to be close to. You know what’s really nice? You can walk to the NoBo First Friday Art Night locations from this HIE!

Called at 5pm to verify my reservation and make sure they would hold the room as my flight was delayed. They assured me they would. I show up about 10:30pm and they tell me the computer has been down for 2 days and they cannot tell me which rooms are occupied, so that I would have to wait while they manually entered the paperwork, and they could not tell me how long that would take. I was patient for about the first 45 minutes and the. I had to say something. 2 days and they have not worked out a system? The manager Christy P. comes around the corner and tells me very sarcastically that because the computer has been down for 2 days they have no idea which rooms are empty and people who were evacuated didn’t check out.
First off I am being patient, it’s 12:30 am and I still am standing in the lobby, and no, it’s not unreasonable to expect an apology (got one) or less attitude! $ 254.00 a night!!! I have sent a complaint to HIE customer service, if I do not get an apology, I will never stay here again.

Probably the best hotel experience iver ever had. They took us in when we got evacuated from our place during the floods. They are dog friendly, so we were able to bring our pup and I seriously felt right at home. They have breakfast and even offered a dinner for guests because most of us had been evacuated. The staff was really friendly and accommodating. I would come here again and again. Highly recommend!

This is an ok hotel to stay at in Boulder. A but far from the center of town but a nice, clean hotel. No sketchy people, good service. Its a holiday inn, nothing super special about it.

This is a fairly ordinary Holiday Inn Express, although with a warm and cozy interior. It’s at the northwest corner of Boulder and in an uncrowded retail area. We stayed three nights. The rooms are modern and have interesting, un-​hotel-​like artwork and have free WiFi. The hot breakfast was standard for HIE, and the servers worked hard to make sure there were fresh hot supplies of everything.
There are at least four restaurants within about 3 blocks; we walked down to Pupusas Sabor Hispano the first day and had an excellent lunch. Although a few miles from the center of town, it’s on Broadway which is a major arterial and a couple of blocks from US 36 (28^th Street), another major arterial.
The only complaint I have is that there seems not to be enough parking; I arrived late the first night and had to squeeze behind a school bus.

When I drove up to this place, I had already been having a pretty crappy day (delayed flight, misplaced luggage, driving in a blizzard — I’m from LA, that was NOT cool). I saw the topless bar next door and was like, «greaaaat.» Kind of a bad start. However, the two guys at the front desk were nice and polite so whatever. Got to my room and used my bathroom only to find that it didn’t flush. Awesome. I took the top of the toilet off and realized the chain inside had disconnected. The water in the top was really gross and dirty so I wasn’t sticking my hand in there. Yuck. On my way out, I tried to get the front desk guys to take a look but NO ONE was there. I stood there for a few minutes, I called out «Hellooo? Excuse me?» and no one answered. Where did these guys go?! Whatevs, I had somewhere to be.
When I got back a few hours later, the guys were back and I told them about the toilet. I said, «Excuse me, the toilet is broken. It’s not flushing.» They stared blankly at me. I continued, «I think it’s the chain on top… I think it fell off the handle.» Then finally one of them said, «Ohhh… okay I can fix that.» So he fixed it for me after that. The rest of the evening was pretty uneventful. The room was ok, the bathroom was clean, the tiny microwave sucked but I just needed to reheat one sad little Taco Bell taco so no biggie. Overall, it was an OK experience. Not my best HI Express experience.

After many years, and a previous bad experience, desperation to find a room in Boulder forced my return to this HI Express. What a pleasant surprise I found this time around. The staff was courteous; the rooms had been updated; the facility was very clean, and all at a very reasonable price (for Boulder anyway.) We will be back.

It’s at far north side of Boulder and there is nothing in the immediate area which allows you to buy anything like snacks or food. The toilet clogged one night. When I reported it the next morning, the clerk informed me they wouldn’t plunge the toilet; they could only leave the plunger for me to do the work. That’s the first time that I’ve ever had that happen before.
As it turned out, the housekeeping staff must have done it for me, The hotel looks like it has been converted from an old motel. Not my favorite HI Express and I normally like the chain.

I was in town for work and had to stay at a Holiday Inn as required by my employer. Unfortunately, this is the only Holiday Inn in Boulder, and it is located on the north side of town. The location appears to be between some new development to the south, and a shady area to the north. While we were there, there were a lot of military special forces trainees staying there as well.
The room was pretty average, and there didn’t seem to be much of a view no matter which side of the hotel you were on. The staff was friendly, but nothing extraordinary.
There was a typical Holiday Inn breakfast with some hot food under heat lamps, cereal, pre-​made pancakes, etc. They did have chocolate chip cookies in the evening.
Overall, I’d say that this was a pretty average hotel. If you’re planning on doing anything in Boulder, you’re going to have to drive, as this wasn’t really close to anything.

Absolutely terrible Management. Heath ********, the general manager, is a con artist. Somehow, I double booked 2 rooms, that I never stayed in, and was charged both for the rooms, ($ 250 a night) plus a $ 170 no show charge per room per night. So, in short, I paid $ 800 to stay in two rooms that I never booked. Total ripoff, don’t support this business.

Stayed for a wedding, as I am cheap. Or was. Ended up moving into the hotel in Boulder. What was I thinking.
It is what you would expect. Sorry to not waste too much breath here, but… meh. It is a HI Express. It is just fine.

Good hotel. On the northern edge of town. Price was good. Place was clean and quiet.

This hotel is on the northern outskirts of Boulder, but just minutes from downtown. I liked the location because it was a tad bit closer to the Rockies and the Celestial Seasonings Tea Factory, and right off Hwy 36.
We picked this hotel for the reasonable price (some rooms are below $ 100) and because we’ve never had a bad experience with Holiday Inn Express. This location did not disappoint. Clean and fairly new. Beds are pretty comfortable, although not like the best I’ve ever had. Beds come with soft and firm pillows (you know because «soft» or «firm» is embroidered into the pillowcases). Shower head wide and relaxing; shower curtain bar curved outward to give you more elbow room. All rooms come with microwave and frig, convenient bar sink, ironing board, and hair dryer.
This hotel has one of the best complimentary continental breakfasts that I’ve ever had. Warm and fresh cinnamon buns, raisin bran muffins, fresh bananas/​apples/​oranges, bagels, waffles, Yoplait, oatmeal packs, and juice/​milk/​coffee among other goodies. I believe that breakfast is open 6:30 — 9:30 a.m., but you can grab some food and take it back to your room if you had a late start to your day (like we did).
