For years, we’ve offered a variety of guided walking tours celebrating Boulder’s best places. Our award-​winning downtown tour explores the dynamic Pearl Street Mall and beyond ~ our «Living History» exploration of Boulder’s landmark Chautauqua celebrates the quaint cottage community ~ the renowned architecture, scholarship and teaching of the CU Boulder campus form the heart of our «Learning Landmark» guided tour ~ and naturalist-​guided hikes help deepen appreciation and understanding of the natural areas surrounding the city.

History

Established in 2008.

Boulder Walking Tours was founded by Lori Hunter, an Associate Professor of Sociology at the University of Colorado Boulder. Hunter loves Boulder, and loves walking tours, and crafted these offerings to celebrate community. She has won a «Square Nail» award from the Boulder Heritage Roundtable in honor of her contributions to local history outreach and education.

Hunter is joined by several expert walking tour guides — all of whom are long-​time Boulder residents with a passion for sharing the community.

Meet the Business Owner

Lori H.

Business Owner

Hunter is an Associate Professor of Sociology at the University of Colorado Boulder where she has worked since the year 2000. She teaches classes in general Sociology as well as in Environmental social science, including Global Human Ecology and Population and Environment. Her research focuses on natural resource dependence among rural populations in sub-​Saharan Africa and Mexico, with particular attention to climate change vulnerability.
