Awful! I was treated negligently and rudely by Neurologist whom I was seeing for a nightmarish, debilitating neurological condition. He routinely kicked me out of the room after 6 – 7 minutes, refused to answer my questions or let me describe my symptoms.
When I complained about this to the «Patient Advocate,» I was kicked out of the practice altogether. They did not provide me with any referrals for treatment of several conditions and instead gave me some general number to track down my own treatment. Because of my debilitating cognitive condition it is almost impossible for me to find my way through that mess.

I had a great experience with the NP in the allergy department. She was thoughtful and took the time to explain things to me. Recommend.

Don’t even bother. I only got as far as a phone call. After being disconnected, re-​routed and called back about five times, I encountered receptionists that were INCREDIBLY rude and just couldn’t be bothered with offering any sort of help. They sounded annoyed that I even called, couldn’t figure out where the call had been transferred from, and hurried me onto a hold line that just cycled back to a different receptionist with an equally irritated attitude. THIS is how you treat potential patients? I used to have your job, ladies, and those bad attitudes certainly translate. Don’t take a job communicating with sick people who need care if your grasp of empathy and respect is so underdeveloped that you can’t even present yourself properly on the phone. I’ll be taking my business elsewhere! Thanks but no thanks!

I have been going to Dr. Erben for 5 years. She is always warm with a smile, patient, thorough, professional and funny. She truly cares about her patients and always happy answer and explain all questions and concerns. Dr. Erben is a highly competent working mother who knows Internal Medicine inside and out. I highly recommend her!

Dr. Laura Erben at Boulder Medical Center is exceptional. I have never felt that I had questions that were not answered. She is kind, caring and smart as a whip. I would recommend her without hesitation to anyone looking for a great Internal Medicine doctor. I have read the other negative reviews and they all seem to have nothing to do with the actual doctor, but more with the billing or service. Really these things have nothing to do with actual doctor. I judge a doctor on my own personal experience directly with the doctor and the care that I received directly from the doctor. Not the receptionist, the billing dept, the lab etc. The doctor cannot control every aspect of your experience! Dr. Laura Erben gets an A+ in my book!
I have been a patient with Boulder Medical Center for many years now and I find the quality of my care and my general experience to be excellent! The best part is that there are many specialists under the same roof, so anytime something comes up that needs additional attention often I am able to see the specialist the same day or later that week. Amazing! Highly recommend Boulder Medical Center.

Dr. Laura Erben is a great internist and I do not hesitate to send family members and friends to her. She is a uniquely attentive, caring, and thorough physician. I always have excellent follow up from Dr. Erben and her staff. I haven’t had any negative experiences with scheduling or with other office staff. Generally I can get in same day for anything urgent. I have been to many specialists at BMC with nearly all positive experiences. The lab and the imaging departments seem very efficient, and it’s great to have a pharmacy on the main level (and urgent care!)
Seems like many of the complaints here have to do more with billing/​insurance issues and that is a problem with insurance, not the doctors. The hundreds of insurance companies that these doctors have to deal with have thousands of different codes and rules and are incentivized to make the doctors and patients pay so they don’t have to. The doctors are struggling to make $$ — nobody is a physician to make a lot of money these days, they are lucky to get $ 50 for an office visit. The insurance companies are the only ones profiting. If you have trouble with billing, it’s likely the insurance company that you need to deal with. (And if you use the doctor’s time to discuss travel concerns, immunizations, etc. then it should be fairly billed as a travel visit, which is likely a lot less than going to see a travel specialist in my experience.)

This is the worst «medical care» my husband or I have ever received. It’s not even worth writing about our experience this evening because it will just put me in tears all over again. We’re contacting a patient advocate from the hospital first thing on Monday. On what planet is it ok for a nurse to be laughing at a patient in the waiting room, rolling her eyes with the receptionists, and when the patients ask her to stop laughing at them, say, «everyone’s laughing at you. Even the people in this waiting room are laughing at you.» We recorded the conversation and I think her superiors and the hospital administration are going to have difficulty finding the humor in how she treated us.
The other reviews were spot on, as well. This place has a HORRIBLE reputation amongst patients and other clinics. RUN AWAY!!!

If I could give negative stars, I would! DO NOT GO TO DR. LAURA ERBEN AT THE BOULDER MEDICAL CENTER or to anyone there for that matter.
I originally scheduled my visit as a full physical and after meeting the Dr. for the first time, I told her I also waned to touch on my upcoming trip to India. She said «we don’t have time for both a full physical and discussing India», so we talked about India for 20 mins and did some preliminary preventative maintenance items (bloodwork, weight, height, etc). Next thing you know, I have a bill for $ 280 for a «travel office visit». I have called many times to discuss my bill and they have been unbending and rude.
Please, be an informed consumer and know your insurance policy INSIDE AND OUT before you agree to anything. I still thought I was doing «preventative maintenance» but clearly they did not think so and therefore 20 mins of my doctor’s time now cost me almost $ 300.

I have had several bad experiences over the years at the Boulder Medical Center but the last one was the worst. I had a family practice doctor claim that I changed a written prescription for my birth control pills and that she couldn’t be my doctor anymore. First of all, why would anyone change a birth control prescription? It’s not like they are hard to get. And second, how does a doctor jump to these kinds of conclusions about their patients? Not only that, but after they had the audacity to accuse me of falsifying a prescription and cancelling it, they coded the insurance billing from my appointmtent wrong and I had to spend months calling between the facitily and my insurance trying to get things cleared up. I was already furious with them.
Needless to say, that was the last time I went to this medical facility and I haven’t looked back. I can’t believe people trust bringing their kids into this family practice. They are a bunch of crackpots eager to bill your insurance after giving you the worst medical experience ever. Good luck if you ever get Dr K.S.

I will never come back to this medical center. Not only are the receptionists rude an uninformative, the doctor’s also don’t bother to tell you that your «office visit» will actually be billed as a procedure… it makes kind of a big difference in customer satisfaction! Obviously they only care about getting their money, but why make the customer pay when the insurance could surely do the job? Had I known that what I thought was a typical «office visit» was something entirely different, I would not have agreed. Go to Table Mesa Medical Center!!!
