Blue Spruce Auto Sales

First off, my apologies for the long review, but I want to make sure it is as accurate as possible and don’t want to inadvertently omit relevant information.
I was looking for a Subaru for my son and went to Blue Spruce Subaru based on the mostly positive reviews. The selection was good and the salesman seemed low key, although perhaps to a fault. We looked around a bit and left. A few weeks we later found a car online that seemed to fit our needs. My son returned and, after looking at it and expressing interest in buying it, took it to a local mechanic to do a quick check to make sure there were no surprises. We have taken our cars to this mechanic for ~10 years and he has consistently been honest and has always done a great job with our cars.
In addition to some minor underbody rust, which the mechanic said indicated that the car had likely been on the East Coast for a while, he found three other issues: (1) the rear bumper had been repainted, which probably meant the car had been in a minor accident as there was no internal damage, (2) the front bumper was crooked and needed to be reinstalled and (3) the power steering rack needed to be replaced/​fixed. Otherwise, the mechanic said the car looked like it was in great shape. The first two issues were unexpected since the car was supposed to be accident free, but understandable given that the car’s age (2010). The third was more troubling, since it needed to be dealt with and would cost ~$ 1,000 to fix.
My son brought the car and the mechanic’s report back to the salesman. I was on the phone, but my son said the salesman took the report dismissively. Not knowing this at the time, I told the salesman that I’d be happy to purchase the car, but needed the power steering rack issue addressed. I suggested that they reduce the price by $ 1,000 to cover the cost of the repair. He replied that this wasn’t an option and that the price of the car was fixed. He did not suggest that they would fix it themselves or even entertain that this was a valid concern. I told him we’d look elsewhere.
I will leave it to others to use this information as they set fit. However, I will not buy a used car without verifying with a trusted mechanic that there aren’t unknown or unstated problems with it and I will not buy a used car from a dealer that does not take seriously a professional mechanic’s findings about a car they are selling. My experience with Blue Spruce was both surprising and disappointing.

I bought my daughter a used Toyota Camry from Blue Spruce. It was the easiest car purchase I have ever made. I was delighted with the low-​pressure sales and the ability to drive it to our mechanic, get it checked out and sign the paperwork with ease. We traded my daughter’s pick-​up. Though we didn’t get retail for the truck, we expected that since it was a two-​wheel drive. The major repairs had been done on the car prior to purchase, new head gasket, rotors and brakes. My daughter and I are both delighted.

I just bought a Toyota Venza from here with Leslie Smoot as the salesperson. Since I just bought the car, I am not giving this review 5 stars, since I don’t really know the reliability yet. However, the sales process was smooth and hassle free. The price I paid was «fair» but not «bargain» and that’s fine with me. The car looks to be in excellent condition and the transaction was fast. No pressure tactics. This is not a traditional dealership where you bargain and haggle. The prices are basically non-​negotiable, so know that going in. They answered all our questions about what maintenance was done, provided carfax, etc.

This is where you need to buy your next car. I am no easy customer and this place went above and beyond to help with this vehicle purchase. Staff is awesome and I cant be happier with my amazing deal. I know buying a car can be a pain I have had awful experiences with my self but this is not a place that you have to worry about the care for you. 5 stars Thanks guys and Thanks Kirby.

I was one of the smiling customers featured on the Blue Spruce facebook page posing for a photo in front of their showroom with my new car. I bought a subaru outback from Blue Spruce Auto Sales in mid-​October. On January 2, the head gaskets blew and the engine needs to be replaced. This company has refused to honor their written warranty. 4 months later, I still don’t have a car, I’m told the one I purchased is in pieces on the SuperRupair lot, and there is still no resolution. I finally filed a complaint with the Colorado Attorney General.
The company has been charged with an official violation for failure to honor their sales agreement and warranty by the Auto Industry Division of the Colorado Department of Revenue. After 4 months, I continue to hear that the case has been held up pending a meeting with Gary Chambers the owner. In 4 months neither he nor anyone representing his company has had to answer for this. I am told again this week that we are awaiting his return from a trip out of the country.
Mr. Chambers, I assume you have family, friends. What, I wonder, would be your response if this was happening to your wife, mother, sister, if they were suffering the same disgusting treatment? Have you been able to simply forget that your customers are actual flesh and blood human beings, do you consider us merely numbers to nourish your bottom line with no concern for anyone’s well being but your own?
This is the much abbreviated version of what I have endured at their hands over these months. I consider it my civic duty to post on every consumer review site I can find to inform our community so they can seriously consider where to purchase their next car.

Honest car sales people: seems like an oxymoron, but not here. I could not believe the decency and honesty of all the employees here. They offer great autos at fair prices. They tell you right off that they don’t haggle, so it isn’t this huge, laborious tic tac toe fight between you and them. I got a Ford Ranger at $ 50 above Blue book! That was it. I had been shopping at dealers and private parties for months and never found a deal as good as this one. The mileage is low and the price was affordable. Ford Rangers are hard to find because Ford stopped making them; this fact has increased their prices among sellers. I feel lucky and blessed that a friend of mine knew to refer me to Blue Spruce. They are independent and hard working. My sales agent even gave me money to put more gas in the truck, and then when it turned out I had overpaid on my deposit, their financial administrator called me and told me this happened, so they could credit my account.
Don’t bother looking around before going here first!

Having never bought a car on my own, I was terrified and stressed at even the thought. I flew my brother out here to help me since he refinances cars for a living. Turns out, I didn’t even need him! Walked in to check out the car I wanted, left 3 hours later a new car owner. Larry helped me with the process. Very nice, laid back, trustworthy guy. The entire place gives you that feeling, and everyone is very friendly. Easy process to get the car, and since I had my brother there, I knew I got a good deal. After signing all the papers, I left and noticed 2 chips in the windshield. I was bringing the car back the next week for another reason, so I called and asked if they would fix it. Larry said, «no problem!» They forgot the appointment, which was a bummer since I live an hour away, but I know these things happen. Brought it back another time to get fixed. Then, a few weeks went by, and the chip still grew into a line. I knew there was no fixing it after that. I simply called Larry, told him the line grew, he talked to someone else, and a week later I got a new windshield at no cost to me! Talk about great customer service!!! I will buy all my cars here, and I would recommend this place to anyone!

It’s really sad to see the negative reviews on here, because Blue Spruce is AWESOME! (The 3^rd paragraph down talks about financing, and TOTALLY discredits Jamie G.‘s review). Here are the details of my experience:
I had been searching around on
for months looking for a car. I debated on getting a Mazda CX-​5 or a Forester. I test drove a couple SUVs, and coming from a BMW background, I couldn’t pull myself away from the sedan/​coupe styles, as it’s so much fun to drive. So, I started to look for a Subaru Legacy. I had been consistently looking for a Legacy for 4 – 6 weeks when I stumbled on a 2014 Subaru Legacy Premium with 700 miles on cargurus. Blue Spruce had it priced in what CarGurus considered the «Great Deal» range! Let’s just say it was WAY lower than market value. So, I naturally called and asked what was wrong with the car. How could it be broken with only 700 miles? Was it a salvage title?
Larry answered my call, offered the CarFax and assured me there wasn’t a thing wrong with it. They were doing a special New Years Eve day pricing. I wasn’t able to make it to the store New Years Eve, but Larry gave me a price guarantee and told me he would hold the car for me for two days until I could make it up to the store. I was going to wait until I got my tax return, but I couldn’t pass up a deal like this.
I made it to the store and even though it was a very busy day, the were low on staff, and Larry was trying to juggle (what looked to be) 3 different customers, he was amazing! We went to his office and discussed the Legacy, me trading in my BMW, where my payments needed to be at and what they could do on financing. Larry didn’t try to BS me at all. He told me that we couldn’t make the numbers work, no matter what he did if they went through Blue Spruce financing. He suggested that I call the bank that I have a history through and see what they could provide. To be honest, I was devastated, but shocked that Larry wasn’t going to pressure me into something that he knew would be difficult for me to afford. He probably could have gotten the deal done, but wasn’t going to push me into a bad situation.
I worked the financing with my personal bank and was able to get essentially a brand new 2014 Subaru Legacy Premium for $ 240 a month. I would have liked to receive more money for my BMW, but I also understand that Blue Spruce has a business to run, and the Legacy was marked down so far that they didn’t have flexibility on the trade-​in. They gave me an absolutely smoking deal, and in the end… maybe made a little money off my BMW, but I wouldn’t be surprised if they broke even.

In summary, the whole experience was great. They never once pressured me and were 100% honest through the whole process. I was there from 9AM to 6PM? Larry stayed late to ensure everything was taken care of, and Hayley stayed extra late to finish all of the paperwork and make sure I made it off the lot SAME DAY with my Subaru because she worked so hard (when she didn’t have to).
Thanks Blue Spruce! You guys are awesome! This will be my first stop when I search for cars in the future and I’ve already suggested it to friends that are in the market.

Bought my Audi here. They tried to trick me into their financing although I came with my own pre-​approved financing. My salesman said «We can’t guarantee you this rate». I asked «why not?». He said «I don’t know». I called Elevations Credit Union and my loan officer said «They are trying to substitute their financing, make sure the line that shows financing specifies Elevations Credit Union in it». It took an additional half hour for them to comply with the correct paperwork.
Next, they failed to disclose that the car had a dead battery and only admitted this after I had the car looked at by an independent shop. Lastly, the car had been damaged by hail and three separate car repair shops said that the work was very badly done. I arrived with the warranty for the work they had done and when I met with the manager his only remedy was to have their shop look at it. I declined, if they did the original work poorly what would they do when given another chance? I wasn’t willing to find out.
I would NEVER buy a car from this dealership.

Bought my first car here in August 2010. The sales guy was nice and not pushy, and the car is still running great 2.5 years later — and it was a 12 year old car with 140,000 miles on it, so this is great. They really fixed it up well, and even fixed the dashboard lights for free after I bought it (hadn’t noticed that when I bought it because it wasn’t dark outside, but saw that the first night I had it). If I need a new used Subaru I’ll check here again, but I hope I can keep my current car for another couple of years.

I would recommend Blue Spruce to anyone looking for a used car. Their inventory is amazing, and I love the website. They tell you up front if there are any issues with the vehicle, what they have had repaired, whether the auto has a salvage title, the reason for the salvage title (usually hail, from what I’ve seen), etc. Katie was amazing and we loved that there was NO pressure. We also really appreciated the fact that we were kept «in the loop» consistently. Whether it was good news or bad, Katie called us to tell us. We didn’t have to call and beg for info like we did at other dealerships. They provide in-​house financing for special cases, which we were fortunate enough to take advantage of. The only issue that we had is that we have a problem with the vehicle’s seat, which was promised to be fixed at the time of purchase, and has yet to be repaired. Otherwise, we are extremely satisfied with the level of customer service and attention given by Blue Spruce.

I am completely satisfied with the service I received from the sales staff at blue spruce. Everyone was friendly, helpful, and accomodating. Sharif even stayed late while I struggled over decisions. He remained happy and helpful through the entire process. Katie also went out of her way to make me feel at home. And of course, Bart, had just the truck for me and made it all possible. Thank you all, blue spruce staff! And keep up the good work. You guys rock!

Dependable Cars; Helpful Sales Staff; No Pressure.
I recently moved to Boulder, and when I pulled into town I was driving a moving van. (I assumed the great state of Colorado would have issued me a Subaru, obviously the state car, at the boarder… but I guess not). I needed a car that would have no trouble in the winter weather. After some online shopping, I decided to check out Blue Spruce. They have a reputation for selling great reconditioned Subarus, but I was hoping that I could have my mechanic take a look-​see just in case. Not only did Blue Spruce not have a problem with me taking the car to another shop, but they also quickly attended to the minor issues my mechanic had with the vehicle. I bought the car the very next day.
I have had the car for almost a month now, and I couldn’t be happier. (They also guarantee the work that Super Rupair did when they reconditioned the car, just in case). The staff was very helpful and there was no high-​pressure sales push.
I would recommend Blue Spruce to anyone who needs a dependable used Subaru. (I will update this if my opinion changes, but I don’t expect it to).

This is the best auto repair shop I’ve ever had. Granted, I am yet another Subaru owner, but these guys will fix non-Suburu’s too. They are experts, are extremely reasonably priced (and don’t push you to do unnecessary repairs), and are very communicative about your car’s health. I do not intend to take my car elsewhere while I continue to live in Boulder.
