AirTurn, Inc. enhances human interfaces with computers by making wireless controllers such as the BT-105 Bluetooth hands free page turner for iPads and computers. AirTurn markets its products primarily to musicians who need to keep both hands on their instruments while reading digital sheet music, but applications of its products are quickly expanding to broadcast, presentation, disabilities and medical fields.
AirTurn was started in 2008 by a professional musician who loves tech and an experienced tech engineer/entrepreneur who loves music, and is based in Boulder, CO.
History
Established in 2008.
Our first product was the AirTurn AT-104, a wireless USB hands-free page turner for Mac and PC computers. With the introduction of the Apple iPad in 2010, interest in using tablet computers as digital sheet music devices went through the roof, and we quickly came out with the first Bluetooth page turning pedal for the iPad, the AirTurn BT-105.
We’ve gone on to partner with over 100 app developers for both iPad and Android tablet platforms to offer a wide range of wireless, hands-free control capabilities, from hands free page turning to remote control of media files and teleprompter apps. The BT-105 line has been expanded to include a custom set of silent pedals, the ATFS-2, as well as a new 4 pedal version.
Meet the Business Owner
Hugh S.
Business Owner
Classical pianist Hugh Sung has been dreaming about finding cool ways to integrate his love of music and technology ever since his childhood days glued to TV episodes of Star Trek, The Six Million Dollar Man, and countless viewings of all the original Star Wars movies.
When Microsoft came out with its first Tablet PC’s in 2002, Hugh realized that this was the device that could solve all of his vexing problems with paper music scores. He became an early adopter of digital music scores and now works completely paper-free in all his rehearsals, lessons, performances and recording sessions.
Before co-founding AirTurn with Lester Karplus, Hugh was a collaborative piano faculty member at the Curtis Institute of Music, having previously served as its Director of Student Recitals and Instrumental Accompaniment.
