The Hop and Hound

Definitely had a lot of beer options and were very friendly! Wish there would’ve been more dogs for our puppy to meet and a little more seating options, but overall was a fun time.

What an incredible place! The quality and variety of beer selections are unmatched and that’s only the starting point. Owners are nearly always on site and passionate about beer and the community they’re building in this small /​intimate space. Always a fun crowd of dogs for my own (blue heeler) to hang with. Good food trucks on Fridays. The small space sometimes means you hang with other folks for a few moments to place your order when it’s super-​busy (Friday nights), but the beers and interactions make any delay more than worth it, every time. Bonus: some amazing nearby restaurants (Pen Thai) offer food to-​go, which is welcome anywhere inside.

I was fortunate to find this place this last New Years eve before an event at the Anderson School (McMenamins). Eric and his Wife just seem like wonderful people and have created a little gem here for those that come in. If it is about attitude and great beer/​cider, this place is a winner!

I honestly do not understand the appeal of this place. It’s super tiny, not quant tiny, just TINY. I love dogs, I have two myself and love dog friendly places but this place is entirely toooo small to have dogs. The «enclosed» outdoor area is FREEZING! Trying different beers is impossible if there’s a line because you feel rushed and like you’re holding others up. I mean I guess if you don’t mind being a prick that’s fine, but I feel bad making others wait. They have food trucks but you have to wait outside in the cold for your food.
I love beer and go to all the breweries/​pubs in the area, this place will not be on my return list and I cannot comprehend the high reviews.

Like most of the reviews say: great idea, cool owners, good location. And who doesn’t want to have their pooch with them! I’m glad Bothell has a place like this.
IMO, however, too expensive: $ 18/​growler is a bit much for me for local beer. YMMV.

This place ROCKS! Need I say more? In a world where engaging with actual people is slowly dying, Hop and Hound and their joyful owners provide a small, boutique brew-​shop that makes you want to put that cell phone away and have a conversation with fellow beer-​lovers. Expect a wonderful beer menu, wine for non-​beer drinkers, good service and a comfy beer garden prepared for cooler, rainier weather.

A nice place with an excellent rotating beer selection. Bring your dog and your thirst. I would give a 5^th star if the outdoor seating was leveled off. I’ve seen people almost tip the picnic tables over on the sloped pavement. The owners are very friendly and know their stuff.

I almost didn’t want to write this review. I like hogging this place all to myself! It’s the perfect «Hey let’s go have a beer and catch up» place for the guys… owners are friendly, beers are delicious and reasonably priced.
It almost feels like a «no rules» place… nobody seems real concerned about what’s going on, minding their own business. Sitting outside having a brewskie with a friend… that’s how it should be! Not a lot of places around that just «go with the flow» like the Hop and Hound…
So call up an old friend and enjoy a few beers!

Great rotating selection of beers. Cool, small place with a great outdoor «patio». Very warm people running the place. A little pricey, though. If you appreciate great beer come here.

I really love this place. A nice, relaxed atmosphere with ample outdoor seating. Patrons are encouraged to bring their dog (s). Very good beer selection and wine as well. Very nice owners and a friendly clientele.
My only complaint is that the picnic tables aren’t level. Sitting at an angle is hard on the back! I’d like to see a few wedges of wood placed under the tables to level them out! :)

Love this place for their selection of beers both on tap and bottles/​cans! The customer service is great and they have a good understanding of the local craft market if you have any questions! Keep up the great work.

The atmosphere is very homey. Nice selection of beverages. New brews every time we stop by. We bring our takeout from nearby, sit outside and enjoy. MMMMM, Beer.

These guys have scored a fantastic location in Main Street Bothell and they are absolutely tearing it up as a specialty craft beer bar. They’re right on the shoulder of how Main Street now overlooks Bothell Way, and they’ve made the most of a small shoebox-​shaped space on a side street that links those two thoroughfares.
There’s tons of seating upstairs, and tons of covered seating outside in the parking lot. The outside space features several picnic tables cloaked in by tent-​like walls and roofing. There’s even a decent-​sized flat-​screen out there, usually showing the game.
Inside, it feels like it barely has any footprint at all, at least when you first walk in. There are a couple of coolers with a small variety of bottles there. There are about 14 faucets pouring behind the bar, usually with very small-​batch local stuff or very interesting beers from out of state – sometimes featuring kegs that are very hard to get. They’re steadily building up a nice network with breweries and distributors.
The prices are fair here, given the quality and scarcity of the beers on offer. The staff is small – just a younger couple and their dog. That hound seems kinda barky at first, but he’s perfectly friendly and loves the company that he gets from «working» here. Evidently, the owners are fairly new to the beer world, but you’d never guess it. They’re learning so fast and doing such a great job that all bases are covered.
For beer lovers, there’s been a pretty long geographical gap between the east side and the north end. Bothell and Kenmore had decent places to grab a pint, but nothing that really specialized in unusual stuff. These guys have turned that around completely, and now are pouring stuff that not too many other places have. Will definitely be back.

I love that this place is so small, and intimate. Fantastic small business! BEER is why we are here!

Everything you’d want in a neighborhood taproom:
— 12 constantly rotating taps featuring primarily PNW craft beers,
— two large coolers of additional interesting cans and bottles,
— a few packaged snacks and an open invitation to bring in your own,
— several wines by the glass for the grape lovers,
— a handful of cozy seats inside and an expansive tent with heater outside,
— two engagingly warm and hugely knowledgeable owner/​hosts in Eric and Lauren,
— and a seasoned coonhound named Charlie.
I thoroughly enjoyed two late afternoons last week, first with Eric, then with Lauren, drinking and talking beer at this hole-​in-​the-​wall downtown Bothell pub. He’s a hophead, she likes malts, and together they’ve cobbled together an inviting and unpretentious beer joint.
Neighborhood regulars stopped by for a pint or a growler fill, while other first timers joined me in gawking at their eclectic lineup scraped in chalk on the blackboard above the bar. On my Wed-​Thurs excursions I enjoyed appropriately priced 5 oz. samples of a blonde, a fresh single hop IPA, a couple of succulent DIPAs, a Belgian sour, a pumpkin/​yam, and a near perfect bourbon barrel stout. And they’re tapping new kegs every day!
My buddies and I have daydreamed for years of escaping our decades-​long «desk jobs» and opening a near replica of The Hop and Hound. I’m thrilled that Eric & Lauren have accomplished that dream so successfully.
Around the corner from the Bothell 3 Lions Pub and a couple of blocks from the new McMenamin’s schoolhouse destination opening next year, don’t overlook this funky exquisite new taproom. I loved it!

I LOVE this place (and am only slightly jealous that they pretty much are running my dream business).
Dog friendly, out door patio, lovely (but small) indoor space. 2 fridges — one with cans & some bottles of beer. The other with some fancier bottles of beer & wine. They also have a growler fill station. We met Lauren who was VERY nice, understood her product & a great salesperson! She let us know that their beer selection changes fairly rapidly.
Their prices were great. We will return with the dog after a nice day by the Sammamish river :)
