Amai Day Spa

I’ve been to Amai Day Spay before and had really no complaints. This time I purchased a Groupon for an hour facial. I went in last Tuesday to redeem the Groupon. As I lay on the table having my face and hair rubbed, I kept wondering when the actual facial would start. Well, it never did. The girl did some extractions and then just continued to rub, rub, rub my face and hair. I left wondering what the heck that was all about, as it sure was not a facial. I woke up the next morning with a horrible rash all over my face, dry, raised and red. I called and the girl who did the ‘facial’ answered the phone and said that I must be having a reaction to the massage oil. What? Massage oil on my face? I called last Friday and left a message complaining that I had not received the facial I had paid for — even with the Groupon, I still paid $ 50 — and that my skin was still super irritated. I have since received no follow-​up, no phone call, no nothing. So here I sit after a week come tomorrow and my face is still red, dry, cracking, peeling and hurting. I will not return here again. I cannot believe I paid for this!!!
I have never commented on Unilocal before, but this warranted taking the time. My poor face.

I had a pleasant experience for a hour facial. The place is very-​clean and staffs are very friendly. My facial is okayed with the standard cleanse and exfoliate and a mask to finish. Not sure I would pay full price for it but it’s a great value with Groupon. I would go again.

After a rather bumpy start to my wife’s spa experience they Amai Day Spa pulled it out of the fire. A very relaxing time in a small oasis in the Bothell Country Villlage.

I’ve seen this spa many times walking around Country Village. Many of my friends have used this place and rave about it. I saw a deal on Amazon Local for an hour and a half Hydrodermabrasion and Photo Rejuvenation Facial. This was my first ever facial and was excited to go. My apt was at noon and showed up 10 min early as I figured there was paperwork to fill out. The environment was very relaxing and soothing. I was offered some tea and gladly accepted. I went in to my apt at about noon. We went through what was to be expected and she started. I loved it, the Photo Rejuvenation was different than I expected but nice. During that process my limbs were massaged and I was in heaven. She asked if I wanted ‘extractions’ done and I said yes. Then all of a sudden we were done. Time flew (or so I thought) and I was done. No extractions done, weird. I get dressed and go out to the lobby. She went over the products she used and gave me some samples to try. I go out to my car and was in my car at look at the clock, it was 1:10. Wait… wasn’t it supposed to be an hour and a half facial? From the time going in, getting prepped for the facial, receiving treatment, getting dressed, going over product and tipping it took and hour and ten minutes. I went in and inquired that I thought it was an hour and a half and she stated that included the consultation afterward. I guess the consultation was the product part? I was bummed. I had a great time and it was very relaxing. If I paid full price I would have pushed it more. It makes me wonder since I used a coupon that it wasn’t a full service appointment. I will be back, the aesthetician was awesome but I will go over what is to be expected for the appointment.

Danielle’s massage expertise transcends my expectations. Her knowledge and application of technique exceed any therapists’ in my history. The atmosphere invites relaxation – wood, draperies, artwork, attention to detail, simplicity meeting extravagance with a refined, elegant touch. Candlelight, pleasant music, heated massage tables, textures and scents all contribute to the peaceful environment. And it’s spotlessly clean, without the harsh sterility of a hospital ward; warmth and grace dominate the rustic environment. Everyone I encounter here demonstrates politeness with a genuine smile and an attitude of care. Tempted to purchase a membership.

I’ve come here twice now. First, for my birthday to get a mani-​pedi then a few weeks later to just get a manicure. Both times I had Lee and she is very nice and skilled! I would like there to be more options on the gel colors (and that aren’t full of sparkles because you could always just add that) but, overall, I was REALLY relaxed both times going there. That’s the difference with other places… they are in and out and usually a bit loud but, here, you can just sit back and relax. I really enjoyed that! I wish it was closer :(but I definitely want to go back sometime in the near future!

I love Country Village in Bothell — it’s so quaint and there are chickens running around everywhere. Be careful not to run them over when finding a parking spot. The spa itself is not difficult to find. It’s closer to the front of Country Village and there are designated parking spots for the spa if you so choose.
This was my first time in and my experience got off to a shaky start but definitely improved. When I walked in, it was SUPER awkward because there was a customer yelling at the front desk woman. It’s not the spa’s fault that this happened but it made for an uncomfortable first impression. There was another customer who felt so weird too that she came over into the waiting room that I was sitting in that was off to the side to avoid it. We kind of looked at each other like «OMG. What is going on?»
Once the angry customer left, everything got much better. I had a wonderful facialist named Libby who was incredibly sweet. Her application style was good but what really stood out for me was her knowledge about skin care and products. I learned more in my hour long session with her than I have from any other facialist.
One thing that tripped me up… they give you a little towel to cover up with, and I could not for the life of me figure out how to put it on. I learned that the best way is to put it on as you would a towel when getting out of a shower — under your arms and wrap it around and then button it. Some people use it as a cape but you don’t cover up as much that way.
When I left later that day, my skin felt much smoother and looked much better. When I woke up the next day, I noticed that my skin had broken out much more than usual but I know that this can happen with facials. This is the first time that I’ve had it happen… but maybe some of the products just weren’t a good fit for me. The redness definitely went down though which was good.
I really liked this little spa overall. It’s really cute and cozy and it’s cool that they offer skin treatment plans that you can work on overtime. The one thing that I didn’t like about this place was that there was a really big push to purchase products. I know that this is generally where spas make most of their money so I get it… but it made me appreciate Julep Salon & Spa that much more since they never push products. I have a tendency to buy more products when they are not so frequently suggested… so I opted out this time.

My hubby gave me the Living Social deal for Amai Day Spa. I was so excited. Scheduling was a breeze. The person who answered asked my day/​time preferences, and said she would call me when she finished coordinating my various treatments. I expected to hear back in a couple hours. But less than 5 minutes later, she called back. I was all set for my big spa day! Her friendliness and efficiency was refreshing. Other spas act put out when I ask to schedule multiple treatments. But the woman I spoke to handled it like a pro.
I spent nearly 3 ½ hours at Amai Day today. Pure heaven. Everyone was genuinely friendly and attentive. At some spas, I’ve felt pushed from treatment to treatment and out the door. I never felt rushed at Amai. I arrived and was greeted with a smile & offered a beverage. I changed into a comfy bathrobe and sandals.
My first stop was a body scrub. Wow. I’ve had a few body scrubs in my day. They were all underwhelming– dry, scratchy, uncomfortable. The treatment at Amai Day included a Vichy shower. Heavenly. The water was warm, the scrub was invigorating. I was massaged and lotioned until my skin was baby soft.
As I waited in a cozy nook for my next treatment, I was given another beverage. A few minutes later, I was whisked away for my massage. Wanda… What can I say about Wanda? Well, for starters, she’s amazing! She listened to my requests. She used her extensive knowledge and experience to ensure my massage was both therapeutic (my neck and shoulders are like boulders) and relaxing.
After another short wait and another glass of citrusy water, Libby, my aesthetician, led me to a comfortable room for my facial. Again, another attentive, knowledgeable staff member who listened to my concerns and requests. She shared helpful hints and offered useful advice without overwhelming me with a bunch of chatter. You know, the aestheticians who try to sell you every product. The ones who talk the entire time. Yuck. Well, not at Amai Day Spa. Libby was perfect, informative when she needed to be, soothing and quiet at just the right times. And what a face massage. Soooo nice!
At the end of my day of true pampering, I felt completely spoiled and satisfied. My skin was soft, my muscles relaxed, my face glowing. Amai Day Spa is my new favorite place. Thank you for such a wonderful day.

I’ve gone to this spa for several 90 minute massages and took my visiting sister there for pedicures a couple weeks ago. It’s a good experience every time. Most recently, I’ve had massages by Amanda. Last week I went to see her after a very tiring trip. She asked how I was and listened to my answer. She then gave me a healing and relaxing massage that took out the kinks of my week and 6 hour flight! And if you go on a Friday afternoon, you can go by the farmer’s market in the complex and pick up a bunch of gorgeous flowers for $ 5 to make your treat to yourself, complete!

Amai spa might be in Bothell (so not Ballard:) and in a small house (so not Habitude:) and it is located in Bothell Village. Do not be fooled by simplicity because their treatments are world class and very much Habitude like. I bought a groupon, only after I checked Unilocal reviews, and it was the best deal I have ever gotten for hydrodermabrasion. I had two beauticians, first one was Russian (sorry I forgot her name), and I would go back to her at any time. Her style and work is perfect for spa. Her hands are so soft, the products she used are high quality and the treatment itself is almost like having a massage and you do get a nice, short neck massage too. The other woman was nice, did a great job, but she was not as good as the Russian woman. Not sure what is with Russians and spas, but by golly they do great job.
After three hydrodermabrasions my pores were tiny in comparison to before treatments. My fine lines are finer and my deep line in the middle of my forehead is not reaching glacial depths yet. It is $ 135 a treatment without any discount. It is worth every penny. I need one, once a month to maintain it, but I would highly recommend starting with several treatments (like three a month) because then you can really see the difference right away.
Also, there are lots of super cute shops, tea shop that serves English high tea, and South Carolina style BBQ house. Slowly smoked chicken is to die for, did not have any other foods.

OMG This place was amazing! I was lucky to be able to use the infamous Groupon and book services 3 weeks out. From the time I entered from when I left I was treated with kindness and the staff was friendly and attentive.
I started with a body scrub which was great since I had never had one before. Each time I transitioned from one treatment to the next I was offered water or tea which was great. The only problem was since the wait in between services was about 2 minutes I didn’t have a chance to enjoy my tea. Oh well :)
The massage was amazing and one of the best I’ve had. I also had a scalp treatment with this massage which I don’t think I would have booked on my own had it not been for the groupon, it was something I could have done myself.
For me, the best part was the facial which put me to sleep and made my skin feeling really soft and really clean. I was thoroughly impressed and will be coming back for another one.
This spa is clean and the staff is friendly and welcoming. It is definitely a place I will be going back to when I need a day of bliss.

Went in for sugaring and was unimpressed. Hurt a lot more than usual and the results were kind of sloppy. Guess I’ll be making the drive to Seattle to my usual place, which is a shame because this place is so much closer to home.

My pedicure was fabulous, the room is quiet, comfortable chair, and after 2 weeks my polish is still perfect. I will definitely return.

You gotta love a spa that is in walking distance to your house. I love the friendly & warm welcome you get upon entering the door. The delicious tea they offer you if you need to wait. but most times, you don’t have to. I go here for my mani & pedi & always leave happy & like I just spent the hour with good friends.

Pretty good overall, but overpriced in my opinion.
I came across a Groupon for Amai Day Spa and decided to buy it. I got a facial, massage, body scrub and scalp treatment at half price. Normally all of this would have cost $ 300. Overall I was happy with the services, though I didn’t think much of the scalp treatment (not much to it). The massage and facial were very nice. It was a nice way to pamper myself. The women were all very friendly, though the woman doing my facial kept trying to sell me their «special» mineral make up even though I kept saying «no thank you». That was annoying.
I did think that their prices were quite high, though probably not any more than any other similar spa. Amai is located in Country Village, and parking can be very difficult on a Saturday, so be warned. I give Amai 3 stars for the overall good experience.

I’ve been going to Amai for over 4 years and have had many massages, facials, waxes, pedicures, manicures, and body wraps/​scrubs and have never had a bad experience. I love Amai, the staff is always friendly, the spa always clean, and it is always easy to get an appointment. I’ve probably spent over $ 1500 on services there, I don’t regret a spending a cent, and will continue to patronize Amai’s fantastic treatments.

A great family friend, Cheryl, recommended Amai Day Spa to us many years ago because she knew the owner. My mother had gone for a few massages, but I had never been until a few weeks ago. I was at Bothell Country Village and decided to walk in and see if I could get my brows done.
They had space for both my mother and I to get our brows waxed and tinted. We both had our brows done by Jenn and they are AWESOME. She was great about not waxing too much and then touching up areas as requested. She even worked with my eyebrow ring because I had told her that a lot of places mess them up because of it. She was awesome and I will definitely be coming back to her in a couple more weeks for another tint/​wax. She was also able to talk to me about my upcoming wedding next year (2012) and how early I should have any spa treatments to avoid breakouts, which was great. She was extremely helpful.
Prior to my service I had been asking if any of the staff did chair massage because I just wanted like a 15 – 20 minute neck massage, due to an old car crash injury that bothers me. They weren’t quite sure since it wasn’t a service they offered, but when I came out from getting my brows done they had figured out a great deal for a 15 minute neck massage. So it was great because I went ahead and did that as well.
I plan to continue going to Amai day spa for the massages and the waxing and I’m looking into getting some other spa services. They are probably one of the greatest spa’s in the area. They are clean, have friendly staff, were willing to work with me on my massage request which wasn’t the normal hour long massage, and I was very pleased with all my services there.
Also, I got my massage from Erica and she was awesome! She made my neck feel so much better!

AMAZING SERVICE! I saw Kasie at Amai and was completely amazed by the incredible facial she gave me. I had scheduled the «custom facial» not really knowing what to expect, but was impressed by the consulation Kasie did with me to determine what my individual skin care needs were. She was warm and friendly and exuded a quiet confidence which allowed me to totally relax and enjoy the experience. She gave me tons of useful information and made great product recommendations which have really made a difference in my skin. I loved my time at Amai and will definitely be going in for regular facials from Kasie. Go! You’ll love it!

I don’t know how I only 3 starred this place. I was a young Unilocaler then, I apparently didn’t know any better.
In more ways than one, the last few weeks have been trying, and this weekend provided a whole lot of release, relaxation and activity that left me wanting a bit more of the relaxation part.
I swung in unannounced this am and was able to squeeze in for a quick massage.
Dear God, thank you for that. Happily washed away where I was sore from a weekend of ‘activity’ and left me with that noodley high I was craving.
If you don’t have a lovely man to buy you a gift certificate like I did my first visit, it’s still worth it, even when it’s your own money, you should go!

Its hard to hate a spa… This place was amazing!!! Upon entering you automatically begin to relax. The décor is well done and the music is very inviting. Like most spas it smelled wonderfully relaxing and again my favorite feature is they use organic products! I was warmly greeted and crawled into a fluffy bathrobe before beginning my amazing mud wrap and Vichy shower! I also had a full body massage, but the Moor Mud Wrap was the best thing I experienced there. The prices are a little steep, but it is too be expected when pampering yourself this lavishly. Nestled in Bothell’s Country Village, this country feel salon couldn’t be a better escape!
