I love writing positive reviews & this place made it so easy for me! 1stly staff are all WONDERFUL! This was my very first time coming here, but I had a great experience and will be back. I reccomend Megan: She was very considerate of me and asked several times if I was comfortably seated an if I liked the designs and shaping she was doing before she proceeded. I really appreciated that; Willing to have a chat with you, and seems like all staff are like a little family! Megan gave my hands a massage too which no boston salons have ever done, so that little extra mile stood out to me.
They even gave me free fruit of theirs to try! Wow! Megan didn’t rush out on me too even though I came in well close to closing time at 7pm! She’s a sweetheart!
As per the manicure — I paid $ 26 for full set acrylic no extra charge for almond shape which was awesome! Took about an hour, not including the wait but whatever I came on a Friday night what did I expect? Lol. Manicure is lasting through the week so far no breaks or paint chips!
Paint seems quality and Megan did an impeccable job with polishing my nails! She took her time and made sure every nail was diligently done and covered with Polish!
The only bad thing is parking ! This salon is in the heart of boston hunnington Ave /​Copley sq /​reflection pool area so Good luck on finding parking :)
Otherwise all in all wonderful experience! Best I’ve had so far in Boston!

My go to nail salon will be Ruby’s with MOLLY! Had one of the best gel manicures ever! I’ve been with Ruby nails for just a little over a year now.

I was in the area and decided to stop by this nail salon since it was right next to Caffebene! Plus I’ve haven’t got my nails done in so long, i thought i’ll treat myself! Their manicure price is like any other salon– $ 13 for regular manicure, $ 18 for french mani (unfortunately my nails were to short to do this at this time), and $ 26 for gel mani. It was quick and efficient. I’ll say it was at least 20 – 25 mins getting a regular mani-​which came out perfect by the way! Let’s see how long this it’ll last. maybe i’ll come back and try their gel manicure someday
Tip: Pay/​tip in cash! They charge you for using a credit/​debit card…

I really liked the way Wendy did my manicure and pedicure. It was totally worth it. The nails colors are nice and options are plenty to choose. Go for the gel color for hands. It lasts for many weeks.

I had acrylic nails done here and they’re awesome. I’ve received so many compliments.

I’ve gotten gel manicures here as well as regular pedicures and eyebrow waxes. No complaints about pedicures; if you’re wearing boots they will wrap your feet so the polish doesn’t chip which is a nice gesture. I typically bring my own polish for pedis though, because I feel like their collection isn’t that updated.
edit: I stopped coming here for eyebrow waxes because regardless of who was doing them, they would always make comments about my eyebrow shape and ask what I did to my eyebrows, which I would 1) be offended by and 2) respond to by saying that the only people waxing my eyebrows were their employees so…
On a good note! What I really come here for are the gel manicures because the combination of quality and price is something I haven’t been able to find elsewhere in the city. Megan especially is an amazing nail tech! I’ve gotten designs here before as well and the extra charge for them is so much more reasonable than other salons I’ve been to (no extra charge for basic accents or one accent nail, which is a major score in my eyes since I’ve paid up to an additional $ 20 for manis with accent nails, negative space, etc. elsewhere) My gel manicures often last upwards of 2 full weeks; once, I broke a nail about an hour after I came in for a gel and they fixed it, filed it down and completely repainted it on the spot for no charge! This is my go-​to salon in Boston for a well-​priced gel.

It’s okay, but I could definitely do my hands and feet better. The nail dryers don’t really work so it takes a long time to get a good dry and they also don’t have any of the enamel spray.
The one thing I do like are the eyebrow waxes, which I usually get with Kelly. However, it’s the usual double dipping that goes on. Also, if the room is occupied you have to sit in a random chair near the sink in the middle of the salon… kind of awkward.
I usually just get normal manis and pedis and eyebrow or lip waxes. The acrylics and gels look nice on others, but I can’t deal with the long nails and having to expose my nails and cuticles to lots of acetone and UV light.
I feel like this place is a hit or miss, but majority of the time it’s a miss so why even bother.

I’ve been going to this salon for 5 years now, shortly after the transition in ownership so I’ve seen firsthand how the salon has grown.
One thing ruby nails provides is consistency. Of all the salons i’ve been to in boston, my pedicures always come out amazing here. They are also great at eyebrow waxing.
I’ve done many things to my nails here at ruby’s, including Pink & White, acrylic nails, gel manicures, and regular manicures. They all come out great! The false nails last for weeks. Gel will be gel as it doesn’t always last two weeks depending on the condition of my nails, doubt it has anything to do with their application as the technicians apply them with care.
Occasionally, there is a bit of a wait so I suggest those in a rush call first or make an appointment prior.
Besides that, love ruby nails and their staff!

Came here for a wax, and they did a decent job, but the attention to detail and taking it slow were actually what made this the most painful waxing I’ve ever had. Normally to get a wax, you grin and bear it for 15 minutes and you’re done. I stayed there for over an hour while they pulled out a couple hairs at a time — slow torture. I got the feeling they didn’t want to hurt me, but of course that’s unavoidable, so it’s better to just get it over with! I asked if we could go faster, but no luck. They seemed inexperienced, and really in need of guidance or training. And in the end it was the same result as a fast job, and slightly more expensive. They were really nice and the place seemed clean, but they clearly had no idea how to wax.

Never again! Needed a quick gel mani near work during lunch. Everything started ok — I was seated with one of the nail techs. When the color I wanted was empty I had to select a new color. No problem. I asked that my cuticles not be cut and the woman obliged. Great. When it came time to apply and drying/​securing the polish it all went downhill. After about an hour (maybe 40 min) the woman wiped my nails with rubbing alcohol. Normally, this wipes any excess and your nails are left smooth and glossy. My nails continued to dry up and looked more like a matte finish. My tech with limited English language skills kept shrugging in an I-don’t-know motion. I was very polite, but inside wondered why she kept shrugging and looking to me for assistance when she was the technician. She proceeded to add more of the top coat used for gel manicures and placing my hand under the UV… this reapplication and «drying» happened at least twice before she switched UV lamps. The second lamp did a better job, but by then my nails were already clumpy from the excess coats and rubbing off. Because I didn’t have all afternoon to sit and wait for this woman (who clearly didn’t know what she was doing) I told them I was coming back. I had to find the one technician with basic English skills that I had to go back to work but I was coming back. I still paid and even though I planned to go back… I rather take the loss and go elsewhere.
I can’t speak to any of the ofther technicians but this was TERRIBLE service!!! Poor quality of work!!! These woman could care less about the sh**ty results and they are very lucky I didn’t put up a fight because I had every right to refuse payment! Who knows I may still go back and have them redo my nails! But honestly I want NOTHING to do with Ruby Nails… In my opinion there are far better places! This will be the last time I try to squeeze a visit during lunch break. I will take the extra drive to go to Dedham or wait a week to schedule with my go to salon in Milton.

So I’ve been to rubys a bunch of times. More then 15, and I am sad to say that today was the last time. The past few mo the their quality and customer service has gone way downhill, and today was the end of the road. Similar to other reviews, who you get at rubys makes a huge difference. Sophie is great. Unfortunately I cannot remember the names of the others who have done a good job, nor do I want to blast those who did a less then stellar job. For my nails, I got a new full set today. I am really liking it about having things under my nails, so I always ask them to use the cone shaped tool to clean under it, this lady did not understand that and continued using the file tool which just thinned out my new acrylics to the point that they likely won’t last. She also didn’t make my nails the same size, length, or shape. She used the thinner in the polish, which made everything goopy and gross. She used the file tool so much on my finger that I started bleeding. While I am a quiet person, I did try to ask for what things I wanted but it was no use. I still have so much buildup under my nail, the polish looks terrible, and the acrylic is way to thin.
For my toes, it was a solid pedicure, not good or bad, but I didn’t get any sort of foot or leg massage. She didn’t even use lotion! That’s the absolute best part! It was incredibly disappointing.
Lastly, a top I now know is don’t bother with the coupon on here. They just make fun of you. Apparently it’s fora Brazilian only, and it doesn’t make that clear.
I will not be going back to rubys.

I recently just moved back to Boston and used to go to here frequently and was satisfied most of the time. I went back today and I was immediately skeptical with the way the lady was removing my old gel polish. It was hurting my nail beds. When she asked me to soak my hands in the bowl of water it looked used. They take the tools out of a sanitary pouch but the tools did NOT look sanitary. I think they reuse the sanitary pouches so the customer thinks they’ve been sanitized. And now I have a pain under one of my nails and I’m worried about infection. Won’t be going back.

I went to Ruby Nails for a pedicure last month. When I walked in, it was incredibly crowded. There appeared to be a swarm of NEU students but the staff assured me it would only be a ten minute wait.
It really was more like a 20 minute wait for a very rushed pedicure. I sat with my feet soaking for another ten minutes and then the technician (an older woman) sat down and literally cranked through my toes as quickly as she could.
The pedi looked fine when I left the salon but started chipping quickly. That’s usually a sign they use polish extender — which means they cut corners. I might be willing to go back for a manicure or waxing service but only if it was not crowded and I felt they could take their time.
It was a very average and mediocre experience.

My love affair with Ruby is over. It’s convenient to my work, but the last time I went my nails chipped the very next day. If I’m paying for someone to do my nails (or, heck, even doing them myself), they had better last more than 24 hours!
Now that I’ve been a few more times, I’ve realized that it’s pretty hit or miss. There are a lot of different staff working and it gets super crowded with Northeastern students. It seems like because they get overwhelmed, the quality slips a bit. I’m going to be trying a different place.

Fast service, but overall sloppy job… They’re very nice and the location is convenient for my school– did the trick for now as I needed my nails done for tonight, but otherwise would not come back.

My FAVORITE place for Gel manicures and spa pedicures in Boston.
The prices are the cheapest I have found in Boston (especially in terms of the high quality of service you receive).
The staff are friendly and as a returning customer they remember you & your preferences — they do a wonderful job catering to what you are looking for, and are open to design suggestions if you have something on your mind.
My pedicures are always relaxing, and they last for weeks! The only reason I come in to get a new one, or remove the current one, is because my nails have grown. I’ve yet to have a pedicure chip or get ruined for any reason. (Other salons I’ve been to have charged more for much lower quality.)
The Gel manis are on point. Life can get busy (traveling, working, school, etc), and I love that my gels stay in tact, looking great for up to 3 weeks. Again, the only reason I come in to get new ones is because my nails have grown out.
These ladies give great advice on colors — especially some of the stranger ones that tend to dry differently over time. I have been coming to this place for 4 years and have yet to leave with a bad experience or a bad manicure/​pedicure.
They DO accept walk-​ins, the appointments are also welcomed but more so taken when they get a large crowd. I usually go when I have some time to spare, but they are also great with working quickly if you tell them you’re in a bit of a rush. They also accept credit cards, but! there is a $ 1 charge, AND tips must be in cash.

Nail chipped the day after I got a gel acrylic set… So disappointed :(also got my eyebrows waxed and they came out awful

I had been such a loyal customer for almost a year now but I’m not sure I am willing to come back again. $ 10 to aggressively cut and rip acrylics off of my fingernails isn’t worth it. The reason I didn’t take them off myself is because I didn’t want to hurt myself. Well, they did that for me and charged $ 10 for it. So upset with this experience. If you’re going to this place, go with clean nails.

Unless you want to walk out with a huge, scabbing burn mark on your face, don’t get your eyebrows done here. And if you want a manicure that lasts more than 30 minutes, don’t get your nails done here either.
So I found this place on Unilocal as a cheap destination to get my nails done, and I came here the day before a big event in confidence given Ruby Nails’ rave reviews. Granted, it’s a $ 13 manicure place — I thought I knew what I was getting into, but even as $ 13 manicure places go, this was a pretty brutal one. After waiting for 20 minutes, I finally got to see a manicurist who spoke not a word of English. The manicure in its entirety was about 10 minutes, as she didn’t do any cuticle cleaning or nail filing. The polish began chipping about an hour after I left, so I considered this a waste of $ 13, but just went with it.
The worst part about this experience, however, was when I decided to get my eyebrows waxed. Bad choice. The woman who did my eyebrows put wax all over the area above my eye, including over my EYELID which nobody has ever done before. Not only was this excessively painful, but it left a huge burn mark right above my eye. Even after I pointed out to her the burn mark on my face, she said it looked normal and put cooling gel on it. When I called the next day to complain about the burn on my face, she said that it was probably just normal redness and I should put cooling gel on it. When I asked if I could get a refund, she said no.
I’m sad that I had such horrible experience at this place, because it’s so close to my apartment and everyone else seemed to really love it.

My fave salon ever! The staff is very skilled, gentle, and accommodating. I have never left dissatisfied with my acrylic manicure, and the prices are great for the quality you receive. The manicures are super fast too, and I’ve never broken an acrylic that was done here. I straight up won’t go anywhere else in Boston to get my nails done.
