My go to is the iced coffee cake flavored coffee. It’s DELISH. Their baked goods are so/so. Cash only. Double parking outside is acceptable to run in.

I love this place. Enough said! They have a wide variety of coffee flavors, flavored by the roasting process not by flavored syrups. I absolutely love the pastries, especially the lemon poppyseed. Service is fast and efficient. They have you in and out in a matter of minutes even with a long line. Cash only, but they have an ATM if you need to get cash out.

Love Java House! I love that the have so many flavor options, and it’s flavored beans, not flavor shots which just taste fake. The whole crew working there is great — i’ve become a regular and they know my drink as soon as I walk in. Pastries are tasty when I do get them, but the iced coffees are definitely my fav.

The snickerdoodle coffee is a must try. Delicious! Friendly group of girls working here. Definitely a good spot to grab your morning coffee!

Good selection. Fresh brewed coffee. Delicious breads and other assorted bakery items. Would be 5 stars if they let me do my own cream & sugar.

Java House is the closest coffee shop to my apartment, and with all the storms this winter, I’ve been working at home a lot. I enjoy getting out of the apartment every once in a while to trek the few blocks up to Broadway. I’m typically pretty happy with Java House, but I do agree with previously reviewers — the coffee isn’t the strongest.

I love their coffee and the people that work there. Every morning I come in, they don’t ask… they just make my iced coffee. I’m in and out in 1 minute even if there is a line because they work efficiently and have 3 ppl working minimum. Not to mention the muffins, breads, yogurt parfaits, and bagels are perfect if you need a breakfast. I don’t drink the flavors but they have many of them!

The coffee is usually on the weak side. The snick-a-doodle is the best. Nikki & Shayne are very friendly!

Great coffee and the servers are actually friendly which is rare these days. Only improvement would be to accept card.

Best coffee in Southie. Huge selection to pick from and they also have a ton of beans to buy as well. They always have a ton of fresh baked goods to pick from as well. Some of the nicest, friendliest service around, 10x better service than Sidewalk and Cranberry Café, better product as well. Contrary to this listing though, you cannot use credit cards. Straight cash homey, which irks me. Thats the only negative to this fine establishment.

Their Dark Roast is some of the best coffee I’ve ever had.

My 5 stars are for the coffee only. But with coffee this good, who needs to try the pastries? I’ve tried to avoid the Java House and brew my own generic Maxwell House in the morning before work. It works… sometimes. But I still get that craving for iced flavored coffee. Where Dunkin Donuts gets it wrong(too much ice, flavor tastes burned into the beans) Java does it SO right. The flavors are there, but not overpowering. The coffee tastes fresh, not like it is sitting in a tub for days on end. I’m in the process of trying every flavor available. Standouts are Snickerdoodle and Milky Way.

I love the Java Hause! Having recently moved to Southie, I was excited to check out the many coffee places all along Broadway. I went to Java House and haven’t gone anywhere else. The Snickerdoodle iced coffee is a weekend morning favorite of mine and their sticky buns are great. I’m not a big coffee junky but the various flavored iced coffees are great here, so many to choose from! Cash only!

The iced coffee here is so amazing I travel from Brighton to Southie(sometimes on my lunch break) just for a cup(albeit jumbo size). Millions of flavors and gigantic sizes that last long enough to get back to Brighton and still have some leftover. Southie hosts some serious coffee competition, but Java House comes out on top.

This is thin coffee … I prefer big fat coffee. They don’t brew the coffee as strong as I like. And I’m not talking about roast here, they have many different roasts, but they don’t seem to brew with enough grinds. The Sumatra, which in my book should be concentrated, dark, and spicy, had some of the flavor but was a bit too watery to be really good. Also a thing to note: they have more flavored coffees than I’ve seen anywhere. Not syrups, but flavored beans … so if that interests you, there ya got it … meh. The scone was a bit on the dry side, although the pumpkin spice muffin was quite good … I think muffins may be their best thing going, they all looked good. No real place to sit here … a grab and go. It’s an OK local alternative, and you’ll probably like it if Dunkin is your bag … it’s just not mine.

If you live in Southie and like a wide variety of flavored coffee, this is your place. They often have new flavors, and are great about making custom orders — they also have a nice selection of muffins, pastries, bagels, etc. The only downside — they take cash-only(however, if you feel like spending a couple extra bucks, they do have an atm)

I recently moved to Southie from NYC. I had to find a new neighborhood coffee shop. I stumbled upon Java House. When I enter it was the sweet smell of coffee and homemade muffins. Mmmmmmmm. I order a large coffee(which is there small). It was served perfectly hot then I saw all the muffins on display right below my nose and had to order one. Heaven… low fat blueberry muffin and fresh coffee. They also sell coffee by the pound in a variety of flavors. Only negative that I notice was no bagels :(

coffee is ok at times they seem to give you old coffee at other times and it can be decent to awful. … if you drink flavor coffee then you really would like this place and then again if you drink flav coffee you cannot be that picky about coffeeso go for for it. the service is avg.

Urggg. This one pains me to write — but not as much as it took to drink their coffee. I really want to give it up for local shops, particularly coffee shops. Not here, though. The coffee is weak — no matter how you cut it. It lacks any strength and flavor; it tastes like something that resembles coffee, but worse. It’s bitter. It’s flat. By the principle of derivatives, all of their flavored coffees are weak, too.(For the record — I’m against flavored coffee. It’s just plain wrong). I mean, if your name is «Java House» you had better bring it. Sadly, it brought nothing but buyer’s remorse. Which brings me to the«House» part of it — there’s no house. There’s not even a living room. Maybe if they called it Java Closet or Java Don’t-Move-Too-Much-Or-You’ll-Tip-Something-Over, there would be some truth in representation. But no. You’ll have to drink your colored water elsewhere, because there just is NO room to hangout. I would think the name ironic, but for the crap they put in a cup. If it sounds like I’m bitter — I am, like Java House’s coffee.

Yet another old haunt in Southie I miss, now that we live in the burbs. We went again this morning, after staying at my sister’s last night, it made my morning. I always love local coffee shops, the fresh-brewed coffee there is just a million times better than the mass-produced stuff you find at every ‘Bucks and DD. I also love the pastries here, they’re terrific. The only reason I didn’t give Java House 5 stars is b/c I hate it when I don’t get up early enough, and they are out of my favorite coffee cake by 9am, so I have to settle for another choice. My fault, yes, I know. But they should make more! It’s amazing.
