Broadway Dog Spa

Broadway Dog Spa is the best ever. Our morkie looks great every time she is groomed. The whole appt only takes 2.5 hours, whereas our previous groomer (one of the national chains) would take anywhere from 4 – 7 hours. Way too long for the dog to be in the cage. The only drawback for people reading this review is that, as of right now, they are no longer accepting new dogs. The care that Michele gives the dogs is so good that she’s just too popular.

We have been using Michelle for 5+ years. She took care of our Tibetan terrier «kip» for the last 4 years of his 16.4 yr life, and now takes care of our crazy 1 yr old Tibetan «Tucker». Michelle is caring and does a great job, plus our dogs enjoy running into her shop. We live in Beck Bay and have used the BB groomers, however, Michelle does an oustanding job at more than a fair price. Michelle is the embodiment of what a small business looks like, this is a 2 person shop that make the trip to S Bos worth the extra time! If you are lucky enough to get an appointment with Michelle, you too will see why she is always busy. Michelle and Timmy add to the character and vibrancy of South Boston, and you will love their work

We really like how Michelle grooms our small dog. We have tried a few places closer to home (Charlestown) but we just haven’t been happy with their work. Michelle is consistent and fast, usually only needing 1.5−2 hours of time. It can be a little challenging to get an appointment sometimes, but we just book our next appointment during our current one.

Michelle and Timmy do a great job with my 100lb. pup, Ellie. She can be a little nervous and sometimes apprehensive, but they are always so patient with her. I wouldn’t bring my dog anywhere else!

Michelle is the BEST. I have tried so many other groomers in Boston and I am confident that Broadway Dog Spa is the one. They are so nice, really quick, and do an amazing job. I have a pretty big long-​haired dog with really bad anxiety and she has no problems when we show up at Broadway Dog Spa. On top of that, she is never freaking out to get out of there when I come to pick her up. She was literally sleeping last time I went to get her, which at one point was unimaginable to me. Love this place!

I haven’t been to other groomers, but Unilocal seems to think this one is the best.
In terms of ease of access, due to the hours it makes it difficult to get there during work for me, and even though my gps (and Google maps) says it is less than 4mi from me and should take about 10 – 12 mins, realistically it takes 30−60mins with traffic… and there is always traffic (worse starting around 3pm).
And yet I will definitely be back — she’s great, and my dog loved it! (and looks good)
I would happily pay more as well, it is less expensive than even the big places (which I’d rather avoid).

After a disastrous experience elsewhere I was very nervous to try another new place. I was previously having my parents groomer groom my pup but they are an hour away and it became too much of a hassle. My new dog walker recommended Broadway Dog Spa and I am thrilled with how my pup looks! When I dropped her off Michelle asked me what I like and she met all of my requests! My dog has the most beautiful 3 inch eyelashes and I asked her if she could try and not cut them, they are still there! Her cut is perfect and Michelle was done with her in just 2 hours. The last place I went kept my pup for over 6 hours. It’s stressful enough for them to go to the groomer, never mind being stuck in a cage for 5+ hours.
I HIGHLY recommend that you take your pup to Michelle. You will not be let down!!!

I have 4 bishons, their names are Will, Grace, Mac and Alex. They have told me that no other groomer has made them look as good or treated them as kindly as Michelle at the Spa.

I have been bringing my black lab Layla to Broadway Dog Spa since 2009. I have always been impressed with the service. Michelle and her staff are very friendly and groom Layla well to get rid of her thick undercoat. Prices are reasonable and I’m happy to support this local business. Appointments are sometimes hard to get but I think that is just due to their popularity.

From where we live, going to Southie is not necessarily close by. However, going to Michelle is worth while, we have been going to Michelle for about three years now. Can’t fathom the idea of going to a different groomer. She takes a really good care of my two shih tzus, they always look really good after they get groomed.

My maltese, Marshmallow is a year and 4 months old. He had been groomed a total of 4 times in his life. Two times were disastrous. The first haircut he got was at the pet shop i got him at in FL because it was a free puppy cut or discount with in 30 days of purchase, so i went to use it. They hacked his hair up and told me he had fleas! He didnt have fleas when i took him there, he got them there! I was so aggravated and wasted my time and money. After that I was recommended to someone from my apartment complex on sterling dr in davie Fl. That lady was excellent and did a great job and was 35 $! Amazing price and great work. Upon moving back to MA last may I had to go on the search for a good groomer. Last summer I tried Doggie Day care near the Beehive in Boston– DO NOT GO THERE! They charged me 75 $ for a horrible haircut– to the point where i was crying at home. They said oh come back in and we’ll fix it. I was too distract and upset because I was very specific I wanted a puppy cut round face and some one who had a lot of experience with maltese’s. They lied to me to which I found out at the end the guy cutting his hair had just started there! They put him in a crate when I was coming to pick him up and his toenail was cracked form that they said. I would not recommended going here to anyone, they have horrible reviews on Unilocal also. Next I tried a place Dogwood Cottage, It is out there if you live in Boston in the city. Its quite a drive and was not convenient at all. They charged me a good 65 $ also, they did a better job than Doggie day but they were a bit snooty in my opinion. I had been on the search stopping people with Shih tzu’s and maltese’s asking where they get their dogs cut, number of them said pet co, etc. I refuse to take Marshmallow to a pet co. I finally searched on Unilocal,after reading great reviews at BROADWAY DOG SPA and speaking to Michelle (owner, i think, and the main groomer), I was confident that she was capable of cutting a maltese the correct way without leaving lines going down his body etc. I had missed an appointment back in Dec by a week. I messed it up on my calendar and she was all backed up during the holidays– clearly she is good is shes booked solid! lol. So I waited for his hair to grow out a little also because he had his arm shaved for an IV to remove a tooth. So I waited until today! Today was the day I found the groomer I will go to from now on with Marshy. He got to socialize with big dogs which was good for him also. Upon arriving Michelle was excited to meet Marshmallow and thought he was adorable. She asked me what kind of dew I wanted for him. I printed out two pictures of the time he got a good haircut in FL and mentioned I like the tail long, his belly and pee pee and be shorter, and his legs shorter, his ears trimmed a little and clean up the eyes (from angle eyes), and overall body trim. She said not a problem basically. I dropped him off at 12:03, I got a call at 1:59 from Tim, a guy who works with her saying Marshmallow was ready and off I went to pick him up! 45 $ for great service and an amazing job! I WILL DEFIANTLY BE RETURNING TO BROADWAY DOG SPA TO MICHELLE!!! and I would recommend her to any one, not only a small dog. She had a mini 5 lb poodle in there that she had groomed and she came out pretty too! Michelle also put a cute little St. Paddy’s day festive handkerchief around Marshy’s neck. I am so happy and satisfied!

I am very particular about how my Yorkies are groomed. i took my babies, Huey and Maceo and Michelle got it right on the first visit. Since living in Boston I have not had this happen. I have to go back for a second visit, but so far, I’m very impressed and pleased with Michelle.

I bring my dachshund here just to get his nails trimmed and pick up a treat or two. Michelle is incredibly nice and attentive even when they are super busy. She expertly cuts my dogs nails in less than a minute. The atmosphere in the shop is not tense at all. I see many different breeds being groomed and they all look great to me and I can tell that the dogs are treated well. I would definitely recommend this salon not only for the grooming but for the great treats, toys, and accessories.

Michelle is amazing!
She is the only person in the city I have met, who actually knows how to groom my Miniature Schnauzer Aninka the correct way — up to breed standard! I’m very particular and she is fast, professional and my dog comes out looking and smelling fabulous every single time!

I started taking my morkie puppy (maltese/​yorkie mix) to Michelle. I love to support local businesses and Michelle is top notch! I know that my baby is in excellent hands when I drop her off. Plus, Michelle is just a great person to talk to! I would HIGHLY recommend Broadway Dog Spa!!! Thanks Michelle!

I went to Broadway Dog Spa for the first time yesterday, and both my dog and I had the best grooming experience we’ve ever had. Michelle is a lovely person (she squeezed me in on short notice even though it was my first visit), and she was incredibly kind to my 50-​lb, mixed-​breed dog, Lucy.
In my rush to drop Lucy off before work, I didn’t give many «instructions,» however, when I picked her up, it was the best cut I’ve ever seen on her (she even had a lovely vanilla scent!). And Lucy was even a little reluctant to leave, she was having so much fun hanging out there.
The best part is that it was $ 15 – 20 less than other places in the neighborhood ($ 45 vs. $ 60 – 65). I was very pleasantly surprised when she told me the price!

Michelle was very nice and she took care of my dog. The cut was good, almost the same as the cut he gets at Petsmarts (BTW the Petsmart over at Cambridge?/Freshpond Mall is AWESOME!)
The price is decent. I paid 40 at Petsmart though…
Overall not a bad experience at all. I would go back there.

I just too my bichon poo, Leena, there today for the first time. Michelle was so nice and did a great job! She even put a little kerchief of Leena. Sweet. I’m glad that she does all her own grooming and she seems to take a passion in what she does.
Only thing is… She doesn’t take Amex. :-(

I agree with those below me… She’s fabulous! Like Sarah R., I just took my toy poodle to get his nails clipped because I was afraid he was going to nip me if I tried. I even tried to give Michelle the… «umm… he might bite you… he goes a little Cujo…,» but before I could even finish she’d picked him up and clipped all his nails! He was great and didn’t mind at all. I’ll bring Rufio back here for a hair cut soon.

Though a bit out of the way, and not that big… this place is the BEST! The main reason, its owner, Michelle, is a fantastic dog groomer. I have been taking my Lhasa apso to her for over 5 years, and in all that time, there was only once when the job was ok (which she offered to fix). I have always been happy with her work… so much so that when she opened her own place, I followed her!
She has groomed a wide range for breeds, and shes Great at it. More importantly, she listens to what you need to have done, whether its a bath & trim, or a show cut! Just be specific, tell her what you want done, and when you come to pick your baby up… you will be thrilled.
