G2O Spa and Salon

This is the 4^th Bachelorette party I have planned with G2O and as usual I have zero regrets. The main reason I go here is because I never get a complaint and everyone has a great time… let alone that they are amazing to deal with. Chelsey was so easy to work with and I cannot thank her enough for allowing me to make changes and ask probably a million stupid questions without a hint of annoyance. We all partook in the Bali Experience and then had a variety of services, we all enjoyed the Penthouse and lounging on the roof deck. It was also great to have Cafeteria cater the brunch pizza as an early afternoon snack… no one needs a bunch of hangry girls ;)
So anyone looking for a girls day out or just personal services please try this place out. They are all amazing and talented and just there to give you a great experience!

I just really, really want to recommend Lilly to absolutely everyone! My hair has been in the process of going back to normal for MONTHS now… and I am just finding out that it could have been resolved in one trip had I known about Lilly and her amazing work in February. My hair got screwed up in February when I decided to try a new place for balayage and ended up with a foiled disaster. Immediately, I returned to my old salon at the time to get it fixed. While the stylist covered up the messy blonde with an ombré-​type thing, it began to fade after a month or so. I went back to that girl and she added blonde balayage to the root, but it kind of turned out yellow-​orange brassy and just terrible. I went back again the next month and saw a senior stylist who did an all over blonde color and left my roots out, which she considered «balayage» and I knew that it wasn’t. I decided to give it one more go the next month, but unfortunately, she did the same exact thing. This month, it really started to grow out and all I noticed in pictures was yellow and roots. So disastrous… I almost gave up hope on my hair– I had spent around $ 300 EACH TIME trying to fix my hair! I finally decided to contact my friend from college who worked at a salon. She recommended Lilly, and I immediately booked an appointment. Lilly was so nice, knew exactly what I wanted, and my hair turned out perfectly. Not to mention, I was charged significantly less money than I had been paying before. This is exactly how I have wanted my hair to look since the beginning. I really, really wish I had not wasted all of that money and time at the other salon. Also, G2O is so great because all of their spa amenities are included in your visit if you have an appointment. I wish I had known this or I would have brought my bathing suit for the hot tub! There is an incredible roof top deck for sun bathing, hot tub, and they are super generous with coffee, cappuccino and snacks. I highly recommend this salon and I’m sure that the spa is just as amazing. Thank you so much, Lilly!!!

This is a review of the salon. I am relatively new to the area and was looking for a stylist. A friend recommended coming here. I arrived at 1:15 pm for my 1:30 pm appt (balayage & cut/​blow dry). Now I understand people run behind, but my appt didn’t start until 2 pm. After consulting with Patricia, who was very nice, that I wanted a subtle balayage, she applied color. I then waited 45 minutes. After this, one of the assistants washed my hair. Then I waited another 45 minutes (she had another client at the same time). When we checked my hair, the color was too light. So, Patricia added a lightener that took another 30 minutes. Then I waited some more. I felt like she was running around and very busy, but also spending more time with her regular clients. Finally around 5:15 pm, she was about to start cutting my hair. I told her we could reschedule the hair cut since I needed to leave by 6 pm for dinner reservations. She said we would be okay and finish by then. Well, I wasn’t finished until 6:30 pm. She was nice by cutting 10% due to the wait, but had I known I was going to spend 5 hours there, I would have brought a book or snack. Also, the highlights don’t show up well. It’s very subtle! I I spent $ 250 for something that wasn’t what I wanted. I don’t think I’ll be coming to the salon again.

I’m surprised to see some of the bad reviews on here. I’ve gone to G2O over the last few years for massages, haircuts, the Bali experience, facials, and getting my makeup done. Lately I’ve been referring everyone I know to Elle Martens, who gave me the best haircut of my life at a very reasonable price.
G2O is fantastic because you can use their spa amenities when you go in for any service. This means using their roof deck, hot tub, steam room (just FYI, v. small), and brine room, in addition to the tea /​coffee /​carbonated water and trail mix that is available throughout. The one time that I was dissatisfied with a service, someone immediately offered to do it again without charging me.
My experiences with the front desk staff have only been passable — I do find they can seem standoffish, including at times when they have a very long wait to pay.
Overall, highly recommend for any service! (other than mani /​pedi, which I’ve never had done there). Especially recommend Elle for haircuts!

Chelsey was fantastic in helping us set up the most perfect bachelorette party for our friend. We each had a spa treatment, three massages, mani/​pedi, and two facials, and rented out the penthouse for two hours. The staff was amazing in setting up the penthouse for us with the lunch that we brought. Super easy set up and beautiful amenities. Would highly recommend for those looking for a spa day experience! Thanks for making our friend’s big day so special!

The spa was lovely, the facilities were clean and nice, and the staff was fantastic. However, I left my facial with injuries. (!!!) Before I even left the building I had an big, angry purple bruise on the tip of my nose. I had to buy concealer and the concealer brush from the (lovely) makeup saleswoman (at $ 80 in addition to the costs of the services, boo) which felt like a real bummer. And then over the course of the next couple of days, I had pus coming out of the sides of my nose (!) and it was stinging and red and peeling. I’ve never had an injury from a facial before. I LOVED the experience and the staff, but obviously not the injury. :)

This review is long overdue, but I figured it’s about time to write because over a year after my visit, I’m still thinking about it. I booked an appointment here February 2015 to have my nails, hair, and makeup done for the day my husband and I were going to elope. I found all the great reviews on Unilocal,and called ahead (not mentioning that it was for a «wedding,» because it was seriously just my husband and I… I was not expecting a typical bridal package) to get a sense of what to expect as far as pricing to see if t would be within my budget, and was quoted a price that I found to be pretty reasonable. I was really excited, and booked the appointment. Parking was next to impossible, so not wanting to run late I ended up parking at the closest garage I could find and literally taking an über to the salon. I called the salon to let them know the situation, and hurried as fast as I could. Upon arrival, they almost turned me away (!!) because I was running FIVE minutes late. I was almost in tears explaining that I was getting married and had an appointment and was only running late because I couldn’t find ANY parking for blocks and ended up needing to take an über, and they finally agreed to take me, but I would have to wait a bit. They were pretty snooty, quite honestly, not exactly the most welcoming experience at all. After waiting for about ten minutes, first up was nails– the technician was absolutely great, and while they didn’t have the color I was hoping for (Opi bubble bath), she ended up layering two different colors to acquire a shade that was pretty near identical, saying that’s what she does for many of her brides. She was exceptionally clean, thorough, and my nails came out great. Next up was hair– I went upstairs with a couple different flower crowns I had brought from home, and couple photos of the type of style I was looking to have done. They brought me to get my hair washed first (which I honestly thought was included in the quote, but turns out it was not). The shampoo/​conditioning was amazing, the technician was really sweet, and it was SO relaxing. Definitely a great shampoo. After my hair was washed, they spent about an hour on my hair but ended up not being able to replicate what I wanted. The style I brought photos of showed a little French braid along the hairline, but for some reason she just couldn’t get it to look right. While I appreciate the effort, it was quickly turning into a stressful situation with the putting it up and taking it down a million times, and had me getting really anxious, so I ended up just asking to put it up myself. The whole point of going was so I didn’t need to worry about getting ready myself and could just sit back and relax, so I was pretty disappointed. Finally was makeup. I’d never gotten my makeup professionally done before, so I was pretty excited and had pretty high expectations. The technician was really sweet, and assured me I was in good hands. I explained how I typically wear my makeup, and explained I wanted a very natural/​neutral look, showed her some pictures from what I had saved to Pinterest, and let her go to town. When she finally let me look, especially after that pretty negative hair experience upstairs, I seriously wanted to cry because to me it definitely didn’t look natural. I felt like it was way too much– eyeshadow, lip color, and my brows were way too dark. Definitely not what I was hoping for, and if I had time I would have wanted to completely wash my face and just do it myself. Then she dropped the bomb that I would be paying for the product, which I was not expecting. She let me pick out different colors, but I was not expecting to have to buy incredibly overpriced product that I’m never going to use. I definitely would have just used my own stuff at home and have been 100% happier. THEN came time to pay. Apparently they decided to charge me the «bridal» price for everything, which I thought was absolutely absurd that it’s a different price anyway for the exact same things. It’s not like I had a bridal party or anything with me, it was literally just me, just wanting the basics – like a date night look. I ended up paying almost three times as much as I was quoted, PLUS the tips for all three technicians. Over a year later and I’ll never forget how stressful (and crazy expensive!) that morning was, on a morning that should have been the epitome of relaxed and exciting. It’s a very pretty place, and aside from the front desk staff that day everyone seemed nice enough, but honestly wish I had just gone in for the manicure, if that, and saved myself all the rest of the time and money and stress.

Being a working student, finding an affordable but quality salon can be a daunting task. After a grueling three year search for the hair stylist that «gets my hair», I was lucky to have found G20 and Elle Martens. Elle takes her time with every consultation even when I end up choosing to do the same thing as before. Every single time I get my hair done, a compliment by friends and strangers is guaranteed. I recently did Balayage and am in love with it. You will just have to give her a try and experience it yourself. The facility itself is clean, inviting and upscale. You are greeted by some of the friendliest staff I have ever encountered.

I am just disappointed because I made an appointment with an apprentice to be a hair model and she canceled an hour before and then stop answering my emails. Not nice.

Came here for a bachelorette party for my sister and couldn’t have been more pleased! There were 8 of us, 4 got massages, and 4 had Bali experience/​manis/​pedis. All of our massages were incredible. The staff was extremely helpful and warm. We had the penthouse suite after our services — beautiful fireplace, rooftop view, and hot tub. We were allowed to bring mimosas with us to drink up there. One of the most relaxing days we’ve had, cannot wait to come back!

###Avoid Sally G for hair services###…very unpleasant interacting with her… not surprised her calendar is wide open for last minute appointments and yet such terrible attitude.
A big thumbs up for the salon director who jumped into save the situation and directed me to Kathleen who was excellent!

Lots of great services here, but prices have doubled in recent years. Yikes! Will be finding some place else I can afford.

Have been a patron of G2O for 3+ years now, really love the girls I see for waxing (Tricia, Casey and Gina) they are SO nice and professional… Unfortunately G2O has raised their prices 2x since I’ve been a patron! Eyebrows are now $ 30, yikes! Not sure if management changed but some prices doubled and I’m certain this will drive customers away.

I love this spa/​salon. It is hands down the nicest salon/​spa that I have ever been to, and I’ve been to places in lots of different major cities in the US.
Amy does my hair color and she is a genius, plain and simple. I went to her for the first time based on a Unilocal review. A former hairdresser at another salon had made me look like the bride of frankenstein. Amy fixed me and when I left the salon, my hair looked great.
The people who work there are super friendly and nice, including, Kat (who does the phones) and Lee (the assistant who usually washes my hair etc.), but everyone else is great too. And super nice. And the brine room!!!

Best salon in Boston! I’ve been going to Mia for a few months now and she is wonderful! She really takes the time to get your hair exactly how you like it. I would recommend d this salon to anyone!

I’m not a regular spa-​goer– have only done a spa treatment once in my life before-​, but decided to treat myself to a birthday spa day at G2O and was very satisfied.
G2O is a 5 floor full-​service day spa with pretty much any service you may want, from hair to nails to body/​face treatments and even energy work, and along with a great online advance booking system, the spa concierge will hook you up and book things on the spot in case the mood strikes. To begin with, the spa amenities offered here are excellent, and if you’re new they’ll give you a full tour so you know what to enjoy… from a roof deck fireplace and hot tub, to a sauna and brine relaxation room, they’ve got you covered for a full day of relaxation here, so make sure to add in some additional time before/​after your scheduled treatment to enjoy them all. (Tip: earlier in the day seemed to be less crowded– I had the hot tub and sauna to myself prior to my appointment.) Along with the usual robes and bathroom products, they even had disposable bathing suits to use in the hot tub or for your treatment, which is pretty cool. I also think you’re able to order wine (extra charge) before/​after your appointment, and of course they had water and tea/​coffee to enjoy.
For my chosen treatment, Rebeca did an aromatherapy body scrub which started out with vigorously applying the organic body scrub all over, rinsing it off by myself in the shower room which had horizontal water streams, and then getting lathered with the same scent of body lotion/​oil. The scrub was just that– rubbing the scrub into my skin until I was nice and pink all over, although Rebeca did check with me that the pressure she was using was OK, so you can customize how intense the scrubbing is. My skin felt wonderful and really detoxed/​fresh/​new/​smooth at the end, and thought the experience did have elements of a full body massage (although remember, your skin is being scrubbed down fairly roughly, so it’s not the sleep-​inducing experience a pure massage might be). Rebeca recommended heading to the brine relaxation room (a quiet room with lounge chairs, a waterfall, changing colors, and salt air) to give my body time to settle and relax before heading out, and asked if I was interested in taking any of the products she used home with me (not a true hard sell, but worth being prepared for).
Start to finish, I had a positive experience at G2O, and look forward to treating myself again in the future.

Always a pleasant experience here. I get my hair cut and colored here every few months. Kathleen does a great job! Receptionists are friendly. Sip on tea, coffee, or water while you wait!

I had a truly relaxing so day at G2O. When I arrived, the receptionist brought me up to the top floors (the whole place is 5 stories) to show me around before my appointment. I had a facial, manicure, and pedicure.
The locker rooms are small, but nice. There is only one bathroom, but since it went crowded when I was there it was not an issue. There are two showers (with changing areas) and a steam room for two. There was also a sitting room in an alcove overlooking Newbury street and beyond. I used the steam room first, then went to the Brine room across the hall. The Brine room is a little chilly and there are lounge chairs in it which blankets on them. The robe I was given went almost to the floor (I’m short), so the blanket was not necessary. The brine room had a waterfall and soothing lights/​music.
The floor above has a sitting room and a rooftop patio. Since it was December I did not go outside. There is a nice city view from there though.
The treatments: I loved my facial while it was going in, but I was so red even five hours later that I felt like I had to put on way more makeup then I usually do in order to look normal for a party I was going to later. Regardless, it was both educational and relaxing, and Gina was able to clear my skin up of blackheads. I just don’t suggest doing it on the same day of a big event/​needing to be in public if you am have very sensitive skin like I do.
Anne did my manicure and pedicure. She was really cool. She had the perfect balance of keeping up conversation, but without feeling like you had to keep talking if you didn’t want to. She has a steady hand and made my nails look better than they ever have! Only complaint is that they do not do gel nails there, since they last longer and cut down on drying time.

Patricia does a fabulous job! I always look forward to my next haircut. I highly recommend Patricia and G2O.

Dailin is by far the best stylist I’ve ever had for my curly/​frizzy thick hair. I first went to her years ago at one of her prior salons. My hair had always been a frizzy mess, and her Deva technique transformed it into my best feature. When she left that salon, the owner there claimed she had left the industry. So, I had that owner cut my hair a few times (also with the Deva technique), and then tried another Deva stylist, and another. All of these cuts were pretty good compared to my pre-​Deva days, but never as good as Dailin’s. I finally thought to check the salon owner’s story, and was thrilled to find that Dailin was actually still cutting hair, at G2O.
Then, I realized how expensive G2O was — more than the salon where I’d previously seen Dailin, and even that one had been on the pricey side for me. I figured I’d go to G2O once and see if I’d been over-​idealizing the cuts I used to get from Dailin.
Well, I hadn’t been. Dailin’s cut was noticeably better than all the ones I’d had in the meantime. Even more noticeable is how much better it grows out. It’s been about four months since my last cut, and it still looks great, where my other cuts would be getting impossibly shaggy by now. So to me, the extra cost is balanced by less frequent cuts. I’m just hoping Dailin never leaves!

You’re paying for the facilities not the service. Manicure and pedicure was just awful, even though the technician was really careful to remove every bit of cuticle/​hangnail (she still ended up cutting me). It just goes to show you that the amount of time spent on your nails does not correlate to the quality. I’ve spent $ 10 on a manicure that was applied more well done. My nails chipped the next day even though I paid for SHELLAC. Nails came out gooey-​looking and bumpy.
Facial did nothing for my skin.

Five stars for Casey! She does an awesome job keeping my skin healthy and smooth. I trust her to provide consistent, high-​quality service everytime, with a kind and friendly energy. For results-​oriented facials, I see her for the hibiscus radiant skin (which has a really cool massage!) and microdermabrasion. I also love the body contouring slimming wrap to boost relaxation and wellness and nourish the skin. Casey does a superb and thorough job!

A few days before my wedding, I was looking for a wrap to give me an extra edge before the big day. While the spa itself was impeccable, the wrap was not what I was looking for.
The method of detoxing the lymph nodes was like have suction cups rubbed all over your body. Though it did have a wrap component (20 minutes of the 90 minute session) it was not the classic wrap I was hoping for. If fact, I felt swollen and puffier than when I first walked in.
If you’re looking for a sweat-​it-​out kinda wrap, this is not it. Definitely more of a body cleanse.

I am here to review the customer service at the salon, on behalf of someone else. After hearing what occurred and since they don’t have a Unilocal account. I am taking it upon myself to make others aware of how customers are treated.
Long story short. My girlfriend goes in for an appointment and while she is getting a facial someone steals one of her items from the dressing room. G20 says lost items are not their responsibility and the story ends there. Like most places, lost items are not their responsibility. Ok, but as a business it is your responsibility to keep customers happy and keep a safe environment where items aren’t just stolen the moment the customer turns their backs.
Was it an employee? Was it a customer? No one knows because the salon did not put any extra effort to see who may have done it. Im no detective, but why not look at the cameras in the store or perhaps see who had an appointment at the same time!!!
Telling a customer it is not your responsibility is a totally bullshit move for the salon. That means that any tom dick and harry can just walk into this place and take people’s clothes. So if you need some used clothing or belts or shoes just come into G2O and take whatever you want because they will not put one ounce of effort to care.

I have only come here for haircuts but have been satisfied every time. Amy does a great job balancing what I’m requesting and what will actually look good on me. I really like that the shampoo room is separate from the rest of the salon and has a quiet, relaxing atmosphere. I like that you can book appointments online, although the function is a little clunky (e.g., you can book initially online but can’t reschedule).
If they allowed you to add tips to credit cards, they’d get 5 stars. But, their tipping system is the sanest I’ve seen for a place that only accepts cash tips. They have a little counter that is separate from reception with pens, envelopes, a drop box, and an ATM.

Nice and relaxing experience. The cool room is AMAZING. Wasn’t accustomed to the type of wax that they use but Rebeca made it comfortable and painless. Karla gave me a Swedish massage that was phenomenal. Thanks a lot ladies.

I have been wanting to come here forever to enjoy the amenities. I made it, but there were a couple snags so I recommend calling the day of if you are planning on just using just the amenities ($ 50) so you can make sure they’re open/​nothing is closed.
The spa itself is really relaxing, especially when you go to the upper floors. They have a spa concierge and she was amazingly sweet and helpful. Huge perk to have a spa concierge because they answer any questions you have and book anything else you decide on last minute so you don’t have to go downstairs.
I expected the locker room would be stocked with everything I needed because this is a nice spa. I was right– they even have disposable bathing suits for the hot tub (what!) Everything else you need is there– sandals, towels, robe, lotion/​bodywash/​shampoo/​conditioner, combs, etc. The women’s locker room (and probably the men’s) has a 2 – 3 person steam room, 2 showers, and a bathroom. There’s also a couch area with a blanket and a nice view.
The brine relaxation room is one of my favorite parts of G2O. The only drawback is that the multi-​colored lighting shining on the waterfall is not very relaxing. The chairs are super comfortable lounge chairs with cozy blankets folded at the end. The room itself feels like you’re inhaling an amazing cool humidifier. I wish I could have that waterfall/​whatever else they do to make the air like that at home.
The jacuzzi was unexpectedly closed :(so I’m not sure how it is but the penthouse where it’s located is very nice. There’s a nice view and it has couches and coffee/​tea/​snacks.
I read about the «Experience Room» online but wasn’t exactly sure what it is so I asked someone to explain it to me. It’s a private steam room that fits up to 8 people. It’s a beautiful room and has not only steam, but also showers and a button for an «ice mist» to cool things down. The only way you can use the experience room is if you pay for the «Bali Experience» which is $ 75 for one person and $ 65 each for 2+. I decided to do it solo last minute. The housekeeper told me it was like a Morracon steam and really good for your body. It was pretty amazing. The Bali experience is this– they give you a body mud mask and a scrub, put an herbal pack on top of the steam maker, and turn on the lights/​music. Yes, there are lights and music. Luckily it’s mellow but it sorta makes me feel like I’m at Mohican Sun. At one point there’s a «thunder storm.» The experience was pretty awesome and it was nice to have the ice mist and shower right in the room. Also, it’s DIY and private so you can skip the bathsuit and just relax.
If you come here for a treatment or haircut or something, make sure to leave some time to use the facilities. Also, make sure to have them set you up with an online account so you can start earning points. They give you $ 10 credit for pre-​booking or booking online. ***Also, check out their last minute specials! Great savings on massages, facials, haircuts, pedicures/​manicures, and makeup applicatios! most spas don’t have deals like this.
