Town’s Nails & Skin Salon

Town’s is a great location for me because it’s a half way point between my work and my home. I have had great experiences every time I have been. The first time I went, the nail polish color I used was old and wouldn’t dry correctly while I was still in the shop. They changed the manicure on the spot with no charge!
I would recommend seeing Kelly (although all the girls are great) she’s very professional and gave me a beautiful regular manicure which has lasted almost as long as a gel manicure!
I can’t stop going back!

Not sure why the low rating; this place was great when I went. I got nails done by Kelly and she was very nice! I got white OPI polish with a regular manicure that included a hand massage and an amazing fragrant lotion that I can still smell hours later! They used sterilized tools from a blue packet. Kelly did a great job cutting and shaping my nails. I even messed up one nail in the drying process and Kelly redid it! It was $ 13 for my regular manicure.
The only star I took off is because at times I felt little nips at my cuticles when they were being cut. I’ve had super painless experiences at other salons, so I know what a gentle cuticle trim is. No bleeding or excessive trimming though, so I would go again! Solid price for a solid Newbury Street manicure. No stamp card though, not sure if I had to ask them or what, but no one offered and I forgot. Overall, not as bad as the rating seems to make them!

A very dirty salon. Would not go back. Manicurist continued to cough without covering her mouth so I had to leave.

My friend and I came in for manicures on Saturday afternoon. We didn’t have a reservation so we waited a little bit, and also my friend’s manicure started about 20 minutes after mine. That’s fine, we expect that.
I got a french manicure, and the way they painted it was by painting the tip, and cleaning it up with a brush and nail polish remover. The brush hairs look like they kept getting stuck in the paint, and now a few of the nails have hairs in them. I asked them to fix it, and they said they would have to start over (I’d already been there about an hour). I also had to have them clean up the paint better, because it looked jagged.
I probably wouldn’t go back here, with so many choices on Newbury. It may be a good deal, but not good quality.

I walked into Town for a mani-​pedi the other day and was immediately ushered into a pedicure chair. Like others, I was confused over which Town’s location I was visiting, but never fear – I had a good experience and no regrets!
Amanda did my mani-​pedi. She was friendly and chatty, and took time to do my nails well. I don’t often get pedicures; as a runner, I’m sensitive about my ugly beat-​up feet. Amanda was really nice about my various callouses and the fact that I have the shortest toenails ever, and made my feet look pretty despite their bumps. She also held off on callous removal at my request. This all may seem like a small deal, but you would be surprised how many technicians openly comment on the aesthetics of my feet. I appreciate acceptance!
Amanda’s manicure was as good as the pedicure. Part of what motivated me to write this review now is that my nails are on day 3 and chip-​free. I am very, very hard on manicures so this is remarkable. I think part of why it lasted so long is that the staff basically insisted I sit through three drying cycles on the fan/​UV machine before I left, and even then put on my shoes for me and tugged down my pant legs so I didn’t have to. The extra time surely helped.
In terms of sanitation, I felt good there too. The tools Amanda used on my nails came out of an individually sealed packet, and I saw another woman scrub the foot tub I’d used with bleach before the next customer.
I would definitely go back to this location of Town’s for a little pampering. It’s not the most luxurious location on earth, but they got the job done for a very reasonable price, and I’m happy with the outcome.

I have an infection from them. It’s vile, they are horrible at doing nails, there was a dog was in the salon, it’s dirty and the people doing nails have 0 idea what they are doing. Stay very far away.

Unsanitary, understaffed, and underwhelming, I was shocked to learn that this Towns Nails is run by the same company that has a location I love farther up Newbury street.
Went in for a gel mani normal pedi ($ 50) and waited nearly an hour as my friend had hers done, despite being sat in the pedicure chair around the same time. Clearly this place is popular but there were not enough people working, felt bad for the women trying to manage the constant stream of grumpy customers coming in and out. When my pedicure finally happened it was beyond rushed, and done in maybe 5 minutes. Also was disturbed to see a woman in the chair next to me have her feet grated on a metal cheese grater (a practice that is illegal in MA and can spread blood born diseases!)
Waited another 20 minutes for my gels as the pedicurist did a wax for another client, not her fault they were understaffed, but still, lots of waiting. Gels look solid but she then tried to up sell me on eyebrows by making a disguted face and staring at my brows saying «ew you need your eyebrows done».
I’ll stick to the towns farther down the street, more chairs and friendlier staff.

This was my first time here and I am never coming back. I walked into Town’s mistakenly thinking it was the Town’s of 336 Newbury St. (which had better reviews). I came on a weekday after 6pm so they were extremely busy. I had a brazilian wax, gel mani, and normal pedi. I had to wait ~20 minute for my brazilian wax, which was not particularly bad given the time I was there.
The lady, Kathy, came in, told me to take everything off, and quickly left again. The bed was positioned right in front of the door so I was worried that if she walked back in and someone just happened to be walking by, they would see my everything. I was uncomfortable and covered myself in a tiny towel while waiting for her to come back in. She came back in and proceeded to give me my brazilian wax. While doing that, she decided to have a conversation with another man through the walls. She rushed through the whole process and when I checked the results at the end, there were several patches that she missed. When I pointed them out to her, she said she couldn’t get them because I shave. That was never a problem before and I’m sure she could have at least tweezed some of the strays. I went home and did that myself.
Because I was going on the trip in two days (I know, last minute), I decided to get my nails done too while I was there. Kathy said that she would also do my mani-​pedi (unfortunately). She asked if I wanted Shellac for an extra $ 15. I asked Shellac for a mani AND pedi? And she kept nodding saying, yes, yes, yes. Lies. It was $ 15 for just a Shellac mani.
Nonetheless, she told me to pick my colors and sit down at one of the pedicare chairs and that she will be right with me. Another lie. I waited for her for about 20 minutes while she was finishing with another customer. In the 1.5 hour that I was at the salon, Kathy was running around and completed 1 brazilian wax and 3 mani-​pedis, which means that she rushed through everyone and I can bet that the quality of their mani-​pedi, like mine was poor.
One of the other worker turned on the water to the foot tub for me, but then forgot about me. I had to tell them that the water was about to overflow and they hurried to turn off the water and drain it. Finally Kathy came back and rushed through my mani-​pedi since they were about 15 minutes from closing. She painted coats when the previous coat hasn’t even had sufficient time to dry and did a haphazard job painting. $ 85 dollars and 1.5 hours later, I came out of Town’s with patchy brazilian wax and a streaky mani-​pedi.

Love this place!
The owner is the wife of the owner of the other Town’s Nails further down Newbury but I prefer this location because it is smaller.
I’ve never had to wait, the staff is friendly and efficient and always do a good job! I keep going back.

Was in Boston for business and needed a quick manicure. The guy who did my manicure was in a daze and kept forgetting steps (i.e. didn’t file my left, didn’t buff my right). I remindedd him and he said he would and didn’t. Super annoying. Also, my manicure chipped the next day and by day 2 it looked liked I didn’t even have them done!

Came in on a rainy night and had a really great french mani pedi. The older woman who worked on my nails did a great job and really paid attention to detail around the white outline. Next time I’m in town I’d definitely go back and get a gel Mani/​pedi. Great price and location.

Do NOT go here. Twice I’ve got in, asked for a polish change, and they gave me a manicure and then charged me for it. The second time I even asked the woman who was doing it if she knew that I did not want a manicure, and she refused to do a polish change! And then they pretend they don’t speak english so you eventually just give up and pay for something you didn’t ask for. They don’t care about the customers and will rip you off at any given chance.

I absolutely love this nail salon. It is honestly one of the best places I go for service in the city, other than their other location on Beacon Hill. It is clearly not a typical spa that you would find on Newbury Street, but they really know how to treat their regular customers.
Ivy does a great job for me every time I visit her. I primarily go for the gel manicures and regular pedicures and both always last at least two weeks. She puts extra care into ensuring the service is 100% and even when I have the smallest chip or peel, or if one nail is somehow marred, she will fix it for me right away. She also gives me regular massages while my nails are drying.
I know the venue can get very busy right after work hours and on the weekends, so I would recommend going in the morning or evenings if possible. The place accepts cash, credit, and checks and has a type of reward program that gives regulars a free manicure after 10 visits. Something which I have used twice now.
I also think the prices here are great. They charge $ 25 for a gel manicure (one color) and $ 30 for the French. Regular manicures are only $ 12. Would definitely recommend.

I’ve been here three times, twice for manicure/​pedicure, and once for a mani only. I think they’re overall pretty average. I think what’s disappointing to me about this, is that I love the Town’s Nails on Charles Street in Beacon Hill, but this one doesn’t seem to be on par.
The first mani/​pedi was decent, I’d give it 4 stars. The second, however, was not good. Actually, the pedicure was good, but during the manicure the technician nipped me twice! And one of those times really hurt! It soured me a bit on the place. The shaping was a bit off, too. I asked for square, and they were definitely almond shaped. When she asked if I liked it, I tried to ask for more square, but I don’t think she understood. Then the polish application was super thick. It stayed on a week, but it didn’t look as neat as I like because of the different layers around the cuticle as a result of thick coats that didn’t cover the same area.
I’m a ‘get back on and try again’ kind of girl, so I went for a manicure last night. Again, it was decent, but not the best. The shaping was better, although the technician filed on the sides of the nails, which I’m not a huge fan of. Polish application was near flawless, but one chipped the following day.
So I guess what I want to say is that this place is totally decent. Average service, average price, good location.

Basically the only place I go to get my nails in Boston. Everything else is so expensive, and they don’t necessarily do a good job. I love getting pedicures here in the summer. My feet feel refreshed and so soft. I have also gotten basic manicures, shellac and gels. Always happy when I leave. And their prices are great!

Came in here on a Friday afternoon & had a very relaxed experience. They were busy, but seated me in a massage chair while I waited for my pedicure. I decided to fork over the extra $ 5 for the mint mask & leg massage & it was totally worth it. I felt so much better & the mint was a great touch. Overall, the mani/​pedi was $ 40, which I think is a fair price. The girl who did my nails was super attentive. I will definitely be returning here for my next pedicure.
