Hideous color and a terrible experience. How does this place have so many good reviews? Place is cluttered, disorganized, and uninspired. They are terribly understaffed and have no receptionist, so between me and one other client she worked on at the same time, she kept walking away every few minutes to get the phone while I sat with bleach on my hair. The balayage looks cheap, careless, overly processed and completely unflattering to my skin tone; literally the worst color technique I have ever experienced. I did not find her able to communicate effectively, she offered no suggestions, and inspired no confidence whatsoever. I should have turned around and walked out the second I got a bad feeling about this place. The damage will take months and multiple attempts to correct.

I still can’t bring myself to look in the mirror. It’s so bad.

In my past review I was upset that I couldn’t get an appointment. However I called Wednesday last week and got an appointment for just 2 days later. One of the stylist understood my frustration and she was very understanding/​accommodating. When I walked in I was warmly greeted and was asked if I would like anything to drink. The stylist who worked with me was Liliya and she did a wonderful job on my balayage. She did explain that my hair may not come out exactly how I wanted, but that she would do her best. My hair looks even BETTER than the picture I showed her. I would recommend this place to anyone who is indeed looking for a good color or style.
My hair is medium length and medium brown in color.
Balayage– $ 155
Extra product– $ 15 (I wanted to make my hair as light as possible which required some extra product)
Toner– $ 30 (I was looking for an ash blonde hair color)

Had a full balayage here recently, and love it! Jen H is awesome. She really knows her stuff and made me feel better about changing my hair color, which I’ve only done a couple times ever. I was essentially looking for a subtle version of highlights that were just a few shades lighter than my natural hair color. Jen executed this wonderfully. I’ll be returning for another balayage!

I was in search of a salon to get a great balayage after moving to Boston earlier this year and found Camille Albane after searching Google and Unilocal.I made an appointment for a full balayage and about a week after I made my appointment (but before the actual day) I saw that they had an offer on Gilt City. I called Camille Albane and asked if I could still purchase this despite having already made an appointment before the offer was live — they said yes! This seems like a small thing, but I know a lot of places who would have said no, so this was a great start.
I showed up and met Jen H. who would be doing my color. She was great — we had a great conversation that definitely wasn’t forced. She listened to my concerns about the color getting too light and she really listened to what I wanted (especially because I am getting married soon!!). The color came out great AND she did a great blowout that looked phenomenal for the entire day. Already made a follow-​up appointment for just before my wedding! Definitely recommend Jen!

It’s difficult to find someone you feel comfortable with and completely trust to cut your hair. Drew takes the haircut to another level. This guy is dedicated to his craft and extremely knowledgeable. He’s also up to date on all the newest styles and trends in fashion. I highly recommend him.

As a relatively new Boston transplant from San Francisco, I was nervous about finding a new stylist. Upon my search for a new salon, my roommate’s friend suggested that I try Camille Albane.
I had my first cut and color back in October with Drew and it turned out amazing! I was hesitant about trying balayage especially with short hair, but Drew assured me that it would turnout great and sure enough it did! I got tons of compliments from my friends and family when I returned home to CA for winter break.
I recently got my haircut and colored my Drew in February, and again am absolutely impressed with how it turned out. Drew is one of the best stylist that I’ve come across in a long time. I appreciate how he really takes the time to listen to what I want and the feedback he gives. Its a real collaborative experience and you don’t really get that with most stylist. Drew’s talent and creativity really shines when he does hair! I’m loving my new color and chic cut!
If you are in search for a new salon, definitely go checkout Camille Albane. The salon is clean and the staff is friendly, trust me it will be an enjoying and relaxing experience. Oh and ask for Drew! :)

I recently saw Kim for a partial highlight, and as usual, it was fantastic! Kim has been doing my hair for over 15 years and I have followed her from salon to salon because she is by far one of the best colorists in Boston.
I lived in San Francisco for 12+ years and would fly back to Boston so that Kim could color my hair. She is wonderful. She provides great service and is very friendly.
As far as the salon is concerned, I have only been here once. I will review it fully after a few visits. My first impression is positive :-)
If you want awesome color, go see Kim!

Jen gave me the best haircut… Was looking for a different style and she walked me through it… love it

My stylist Kimberly recently moved to Camille Albane. We have been working together on my hair for over a year now, and I would follow her anywhere. I am not a buzz or clipper cut, but she always manages to get my cut and color perfect. I am also very pleased with the organic color line she has been using on me. I felt very comfortable in the new salon. It is very clean and has a great design. Unfortunately, from the street level it does not stand out as a salon at all. The sign out front doesn’t even say hair salon. Because of the lack of signage I would give a 4 star rating, however, my experience was so positive I am giving it 5 stars.
This is a GREAT salon, if you can find it.

I love having Jen Huynh and Drew Irman cut my long man hair. Super professional and clean environment in the heart of Newbury Street Boston. This was a technical learning process!

I have never had such a fantastic haircut in my life. Lillya is amazing. She is sweet, thoughtful, and extremely meticulous. She listens and works carefully to make sure every strand is perfect. I have long, thick, wavy hair, which stylists have always just trimmed and left alone. Lillya looked at the way my hair fell and at the structure of my face, and came up with a subtle, but beautiful cut with long layers and face framing pieces. She wants the cut to be perfect, and will continue to cut strands even after she has styled your hair if she feels there is anything out of place (she also used a roundbrush to give my hair beautiful soft waves at the end). I won’t go anywhere else!

I have never been so inclined to write a review as I was after my experience at Camille Albane. I got the balayage treatment and everything was excellent. My stylist, Drew, was very welcoming and asked questions to understand the history of my hair before explaining to me the process and addressing every question I had. In addition every member of the salon was extremely welcoming (and entertaining), making the experience both relaxing and luxurious.
I have tried other salons in the area but often leave semi-​satisfied with my experience, due to the any number of aspects such as the reception or stylist. Drew and his team were informative, passionate, and always wanted to please.
I got the treatment through a voucher on Gilt but will be returning for a hair cut and all future hair needs! The artistry and talent that resides here is extraordinary.

I had a gilt for a blow out and a manicure. Everyone at the salon was very friendly! Carl Thomas did my blow out and used a curler and was super friendly! The post blow out wash was amazing with an awesome scalp massage. Lina did my manicure, (actually while Carl Thomas was doing my hair) and she did excellent as well, took her time, very neat, and the manicure lasted over a week. Highly Recommend!

I am now completely hooked on Camille Albane and Drew’s awesome balayage! I’m very particular about my hair and have come back twice, which says a lot. The staff is really friendly and professional, and the salon is beautiful. Plus the shampoo chairs give you a massage! No up selling, no pressure, just lovely people and lovely hair.

I recently had my hair styled at Camille Albane, what a truly great experience, the salon is quite beautifully restored to the original architectural integrity. i was greeted by a lovely staff and treated to a fabulous cut by CarlThomas. What a great experience. From the amazing shampoo in an electronic massage chair. To the entire European salon experience. You must go and experience first hand. You will be hooked.

It seems like most people checked out this place after getting a Gilt voucher for hair. I might be one of the few who got a Gilt voucher for nails.
I am very pleased with my excellent mani and pedi. The woman who has been hired to be the nail person at this salon is great! She does a fantastic job and is extremely efficient. The whole process is clean and precise. She is also very nice and helpful.
Unfortunately, while the mani-​pedi looks fabulous there are quite a few downsides to getting one’s nails done here.
There is only one person who does nails. At this time, she is only available on Fridays and Saturdays. I made an appointment, which was kinda tough as she was pretty booked. I don’t think you can just walk into the salon for nail service.
The cost of services is much higher in comparison to the dedicated nail salons all over the place. Many nail places in Back Bay offer mani-​pedis for $ 35. In beacon hill, it’s $ 30.
The color selection is fantastic, but Essie products dominate. This is fine by me because I love Essie, but just an FYI if you like another brand.
Comfortable seating, but don’t expect a massage chair or jacuzzi style water for your feet.
Just to re-​iterate, my manicure and pedicure look amazing. However, I can get equal quality and save money by going to a dedicated nail salon.

I went here after getting a voucher on Gilt for balayage and a haircut. I arrived 15 minutes late — called to give the heads up but I still know this can be frustrating for a salon — and the woman who answered their phones nicely told me not to worry about it, and they got me going as soon as I walked in. The salon is very clean and modern but definitely not stuffy. It felt open, inviting, relaxing, casual and professional without an ounce of pretentiousness.
My stylist was Drew, who recently moved here from NYC. He sat me down and listened to what I wanted to do and then worked his magic. I honestly love my hair, especially the balayage which came out the perfect balance of noticeable & natural. On top of that, I had fun talking with Drew during my appointment. I couldn’t recommend him more! Both Drew & one of the assistants Jen were extremely helpful in explaining the balayage process to me as well as all the ways to upkeep. It seems like everyone in the salon is incredibly knowledgable about the products & processes they use and are willing to share that knowledge with all their clients.
I really want to thank EVERYONE (stylists, front desk, assistants) at Camille Albane for not only great hair but beyond excellent service. Every single person I came in contact with was so genuinely kind. For that (and hair that I love) I’ll certainly be back!

I have recently visited Camille Albane to have a haircut and balayage from one of their junior stylists Jen. She was very attentive, sweet and was trying her best to make my hair look the way I‘d enjoy! And I really do enjoy the way my haircut looks like and my lighter springish hair :) Thank you dear!
I have also enjoyed the salon itself. Great location, inviting and stylish atmosphere, and those massage chairs… Ahhhh…would love to come back!
