C-Town Studio

I gave 3 stars for the simple reason that I loved the teacher during my time there. She was fantastic, patient, and really made me enjoy yoga.
The massive negative with this place is that they literally PACK in as many people as possible. On multiple occasions over multiple classes, I would be hit with an arm or leg by the person practicing next to me. I would be holding a pose and concentrating when suddenly a foot would hit my shoulder. Additionally, the gym space really started to smell after a few classes.
The reality is that it’s inexpensive but expect to practice with other people accidentally touching you throughout the class. This is not a place for a peaceful practice, just a place to get in a good stretch with 16 other people in a tiny room.

I love this studio! There is no charge to rent the mats (not sure what the two star review is talking about) and the class prices are reasonable. The staff is friendly and the class times are convenient for me. I recommend the barre class with Allie or Karen… great work out and you will see results :)

This place is ok. I think the 1^st 2-​star review misses the mark, however.
Cons:
The class times are inconvenient. They’re most commonly around 6 or 7 — AM & PM. I understand there are also «Mommy & Me» type groups here during the day, so I imagine that creates some schedule limitations. It also might contribute to…
The studio occasionally smells like feet when I arrive. It seems to go away once the air has circulated. (I practiced at a Bikram studio once that put a lot into their air exchangers, the types of floor they used, how everything was cleaned, and how often it all was cleaned. After that lesson, I’ve wondered how many studios put that much effort into their cleanliness.)
There isn’t much range of class offerings. Lots of vinyasa and barre classes. Many of the vinyasa flow classes I’ve gone to, the teacher just does her own thing then says something about «Sun A,» like saying it suddenly makes it so. We’ve often done a lot of deeper stretching poses at the beginning of a class where risk of injury is heightened. I’m curious how many take the Ashtanga or Iyengar fundamentals and just do their own thang.
Similarly, I’ve found a lot of studios dive right into classes without any sort of intro or centering. (I refer to the studio as opposed to individual teachers when I’ve found this practice to be more or less common to the studio as a hole.) You (teacher) may be chummy with a couple of the students, but I’ve never met you before and would actually like to. Also, «ok let’s get started» is just so… le sigh. I know I’m not in India, folks, but I do want some spiritual uplifting in my practice. I come for more than strong arms.
Pros:
You can’t beat $ 30 for 30 days.
It’s only a few blocks from my temporary pad. The walk to/​from the studio and the area itself are both lovely.
The studio is nicely modern with clean lines and crisp colors.
Some teachers have played more than the standard collection of «yoga» type music. I think modern alt rock and chill EDM are excellent contributions to a vinyasa practice.
Overall, it’s a nice studio. There are many not far from here, so I plan to try a new studio next month.

they pack the room. i couldnt even stretch enough without hitting my neighbor. even the instructor said we couldnt do some thing bc it was too packed… helloooo? the mat i rented smelled horrible. i went to put my stuff in the room and the lady yelled SHOES! i said i was just taking them off and she said leave them out side. i didnt know it was my first time in this studio. its an advanced class i was looking at what my neighbors were doing bc some of the poses id never heard of.

Okay first of all this is NOT a beginner class. This class is moderate to advanced. I spent about 45 of the 60 minutes in plank pose.
The class itself was challenging but a really great workout. Prepare to seriously sweat and HURT the next day. The instructor was great as well but a little bit intense for yoga.
The reason I only gave two stars is because:
1.) they charge you $ 1 to rent a mat (which is fine), but when I wanted to rent two and only had a $ 1 and a $ 20 bill, and the girl didn’t have change, she wouldn’t give me the mat. So, I had to beg for change from other people instead of her just giving me the mat. I even had .50 cents at one point and she sill said I needed the full two dollars! Also, you sweat about as much as a shower, and you clean the mats with a Clorox wipe. They don’t wash them and that’s pretty gross.
2.) they packed wayyyy too many people in this tiny cramped room to the point where our yoga mats almost touched. Clearly they were trying to make as much money as possible, but when you can’t extend your arms out during yoga there is a problem.
Long story short — Great class but poor facilities.
