Love the spa, the atmosphere and the workout classes. My favorite place to go in the city!

Best of the best. Cant get better instructors or a better space. Clean, beautiful place, great staff all around. Both back bay and and battery wharf are amazing!!!

I have Exhale to thank for getting me back into my now-​active lifestyle. Back in April, I gifted a friend a massage and a facial, and while she was getting pampered, I thought to myself — why not take a class? Little did I know how much this class would change my outlook on fitness!
I took the Core Fusion Cardio class, and found myself STRUGGLING to get through the class, but in the best possible way. I also found myself thinking about the class 2 – 3 days later, and asked myself… why not go back? Thus began my religion of attending Core Fusion classes 4 – 5 days/​week, while I could (more on that later). This is coming from a woman who (years ago!!) was pretty fit, but was at the time struggling to go to the gym more than once or twice a week.
I LOVED all of the classes offered at Exhale, and recommended them to all of my friends. If I had to rank the individual classes, it would be as follows — Core Fusion Cardio (with Chrissy or Caitlin), Exhale Power Yoga (with Larissa), Core Fusion Sport (with Dani), Core Fusion Barre (with Chrissy or Caitlin).
Sadly, I moved to DC before trying Core Fusion Extreme or any of the newer offerings, which made me really sad (I’m not joking — I was consistently disappointed for a solid month before finding another studio I love). However, I have to say, the Core Fusion classes really inspired me and got me back on my feet. Thanks to Core Fusion, I’m 100% unafraid of classes and workouts that will kick my butt, and I’ve discovered the benefits of yoga along the way. I’m now faster, leaner, and stronger, my initial progress is because of the fantastic, intense, form-​focused classes at Exhale.
As for the facility itself, it doesn’t get any better than this. Gorgeous locker rooms, showers, and studios make for a dream come true. I also loved that my classmates appeared to take the classes seriously, and their form inspired me to work harder.
On that note, one thing that I find completely lacking at Exhale is the sense of community, which I (now) expect for the steep cost of membership here. But there is no doubt that Exhale really fired up my fitness game, and I will always recommend their classes to anybody needing that extra boost in their routine.

The women s locker room is open and has everything you could need from towel, bathrobes, shower shoes, fully stocked mouthwash, hairspray, shampoo and conditioner!
The showers included a waterfall overhead flow and a towel warmer! They are 10x nicer than my shower at home!
I have taken the core fusion class twice and both times the instructors have provided individual attention! I normally don’t sweat during a bar class but I always leave here feeling like I got an awesome workout. Jessica Carreiro is an amazing teacher, I can not say enough good things about her! She really helped me modify some of the exercises for the best personal experience!

I went to the Exhale Battery Wharf for a manicure/​pedicure with Julie. I have to admit that I was really becoming turned off by the spa experience at Exhale based on my visits to the Back Bay location. However; now that I visited Exhale Battery Wharf, I am now a loyal customer once again of the Exhale Spa.
As soon as you walk into Exhale Battery Wharf, it is a calm, serene, and open environment. As comparison, Back Bay always feel cramped and and crowded. I also loved that Exhale Battery Wharf had many more nail polish to chose from versus Back Bay. My nail technician was Julie — she did a fabulous job of doing my nails, used great products, and was also very efficient.

I recently bought a package/​special they were having– facial and massage for $ 200. I had CJ for massage and Julie for facial. Both were great and it was an overall relaxing experience. I definitely go back to see both. Sign up for their emails because they always email deals.

The facilities in this place are beautiful. Literally the nicest gym I’ve ever been to in boston.
The class itself was really intense. A fabulous work out. The class is a mix between cardio and strength training, and let me just say it is no walk in the park. You will feel this for days. The only real negative I have is that there was 0 direction. I do not go to exhale regularly and am not in peak shape, and it would have been nice to know what I was doing. The instructor didn’t speak up once. I would absolutely recommend the class though. Just be prepared to learn as you go.

After arriving from LA the day before and trekking through the freezing weather, walking into Exhale was like arriving at the doors of heaven. It was warm and absolutely beautiful. I came with a classpass and was greeted by the friendly front desk. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a changing room that I could describe as sexy but this one certainly is. The entire place feels brand new and spotless.
Now on to the class. Core fusion was a great workout! Caitlin was the instructor and I introduced myself in the beginning of class, I was impressed that she was able to remember my name. I’ve only taken one barre class prior so was a bit nervous but she was very nice and came around the room multiple times correcting each person’s form one at a time. She goes down the line which I liked because you don’t feel individually pointed out and targeted. Even though the class was large she took the time to correct everyone’s form with almost each area we were working on. I didn’t feel intimidated at all. Much of the focus was on core and glutes with a bit of armwork in the beginning. I will be back and I highly recommend this class!

As a member of Exhale since the Back Bay location opened in 2004, I sometimes consider myself a barre «purist» — which means I like to do class on a carpet! However, when one is spending inordinate amounts of time in East Boston and has a lot of clients who work in the Financial District, Battery Wharf becomes a much more convenient location. Plus one of my favorite teachers and people (Caitlin) runs the mind/​body program over at Battery. I have to say, I LOVE this location. From the Core Fusion Barre classes (Caitlin, Victoria, and Meg — 3 of my favorites — teach more classes here than they do at Back Bay) to the serene atmosphere (love the hammam, the fully equipped locker rooms — including the flat irons!, the towel warmers in each shower — HEAVEN), Battery is every bit as good as its sister location in the Back Bay. Even with the hard wood floor in the barre studio (blasphemy, I know).
And the customer service is AMAZING. Any issue that I have ever had has been quickly resolved. After a recent manicure/​pedicure, the manager (Leigh Ann, I hope I’m spelling her name correctly) actually put my socks and sneakers on for me, after running to get plastic wrap to cover my toes so they wouldn’t get ruined).
If you haven’t checked out this location, get there pronto! :)

Three stars because the amenities are nice and Christina is AMAZING. Highly recommend her for facials, waxing, and massages. She knows what she is doing and won’t try to sell you products you don’t need. If you’re booking a spa therapy, block out a few hours to take advantage of the amenities (steam room and showers are great). However, the overall vibe is incredibly snobby and the staff is rude. If you aren’t dressed in head to toe Lululemon carrying a designer bag, prepare to be ignored and spoken to like an idiot. Heads up, they email a ton of promotions but are very particular about how and when the discounts apply.

I had an excellent massage, however, when I realized I had left my Michael kors watch in the locker not even an hour after I left, I called and spoke to DJ. DJ told me that his manager was going to look in the locker and that he would call me back. Not only did I wait 12 minutes, before I had to call back, but the manager didn’t even look anywhere beyond the locker. It was excuse after excuse, the spa attendants were out to lunch blah blah blah.
I’m sorry but when you are charging $ 135 for an hour massage, Id like to think that the customer isn’t the one pick pocketing. Im sure based on the looks of the clientele, they would have turned my watch in. i will never go back. Ever. And def double check your locker before you go, for you will never see your belongings if left behind.

You must go see Julie for waxing and Andrea for facials!
Julie is amazing — the best waxist I’ve had in Boston. Her brazilian waxes are quick, thorough, and *relatively* painless. She is super nice and will make sure you’re comfortable throughout the process. I highly recommend her for any type of waxing!
Andrea is my go to for facials — it’s the perfect balance of a luxurious spa facial with clinical results. She takes her time with extractions and customizes each facial to give you optimal results. She gives great skincare recommendations and has totally transformed my skin over the past year.

Josh Sylvia is a massage master. Not only do I feel completely relaxed after every treatment but he gets to know his clients so the relationship is incorporated into the massage. He’s funny, you can trust him, and knows what the hell hes doing. Not many male massage therapists last now adays. Josh has been doing this a long time and I see why.

I came to exhale for the first time last week. I had a deep tissue massage with Amanda, it was amazing!

I was feeling very stressed and needed a way to relax. My fiancée got me a massage with one of the massage therapists, Julie G. She was wonderful, never has my body felt so relieved and «knot-​free.» I am excited to go back to Julie before our vacation later this fall. I highly recommend Exhale for a massage

I’m pretty sure we’ve all looked in the mirror once or twice and questioned how we let our eyebrows get so wild. I’ve contemplated waxing but being a guy, I wasn’t sure I could handle the pain — especially how movies depict the waxing process. I took the leap and scheduled an appointment with Andrea Contreras, Esthetician and eyebrow ninja.
Esthetician: She was very courteous, polite, gentle and extremely knowledgable on skincare. She took the time to answer my (sometimes crazy) questions. The waxing process wasn’t as bad as I thought. It had to be attributed to her skills and experience.
Spa environment: The room was VERY clean and kept. Soothing music played throughout the entire appointment, which I believe helped me with my anxiety of being waxed for the first time.
Conclusion: Although a bit pricey. I couldn’t be happier with my trimmed ‘caterpillars’ (now plural). I can now take semi-​decent selfies.

I had my second facial with Laura Fredette today. She is so fantastic! Laura recommends the perfect custom facial. She uses very high quality products and does such a thorough job of explaining what she is doing, why, and recommendations on how to keep your skin beautiful. The experience is so relaxing and Laura makes it so enjoyable. Out of all the spas in Boston I will definitely keep returning to Exhale to have facials with Laura!

All I can say is i go for either stress or after a hard work out. Joshua is the man. Best massage and attitude. Total pro! Best to book him a week out as he seems to fill up quick the days. Girls at reception are great and this is the CLEANEST SPA in Boston!

My coworker had a free pass and took me with her to a Barre class (not-​advance). She has been saying great things about this place for the last couple of years she’s been a member. I really enjoyed it.
Our instructor was Caitlin who was excellent! She memorized my name right away and even though I wasn’t a regular she gave me lots of tips and helped me improve during the 1 hour class. I had no idea how hard the class was going to be, but it kicked my butt! Right away I was exhausted. It’s great exercise and you really get a lot out of one hour.
The facilities were fantastic. Compared to the Y (what I go to) this blew me away. Clean towels, sandals, and bathrobes for everyone to use. A beautiful clean steam room and sauna. Also great lotion, and complimentary tampons, shower caps, etc. in the bathroom. The lockers were great too, you don’t need to bring a lock!
The staff at the front desk were really nice and helpful. I got my friend (who is a member) to buy me 2 pairs of Exhale socks with the grip footies since members get a 20% off discount on merchandise. For some reason it just took forever for the transaction because I guess not everyone that works there can ring up cash which is what I gave my friend to pay for it. No big deal, but it would have been nice to save that extra 5 minutes of time.
The store is nice with all the merchandise and amazing high end beauty products (lotions, oils, candles). [Many of them being cruelty free and vegan]
I would def go back if I could afford it. $ 180 a month is out of my reach (one day maybe…) and being that I live in Hyde Park this isn’t convenient for me to go to every day. But I may do the one week $ 30 deal just to go try it out more. Such a tease/​distraction for me from the usual Y. The clientele is very different than the Y that I go to, I’m pretty sure I was the only person at Exhale with tattoos in our class! But those classes work because everyone in that Barre class had a nice butt! lolz

I love the upscale spa atmosphere of Exhale. The spa waiting room is so cozy, the complimentary tea is amazing, and the whole facility is spotless. Admittedly, I’m very picky when it comes to massages, but Nora and Suzanna are seriously the best!
The spa services are on the pricey side, so I would suggest waiting for a flash sale on Gilt or Rue La La! Also, if you sign up for their emails they tend to have frequent promotions. Check them out!
