History

Established in 2010.

Boise Automotive Service began in 2010 as the service facility for Image Auto Sales. As the company acquired and retained new customers through this relationship, we soon outgrew our small two bay shop and began to look for a bigger location. In January, 2013, we expanded to a full service shop on Fairview. Since then, we have experienced amazing growth because of our most valuable assets: trust from our customers and our employees. We strive to do what is right all the time. Integrity, Honesty, and Transparency is our mantra. Exceeding customer expectations is our goal. Continuous and steady growth is our focus.

Manager

Rick is regarded widely in the local market as one of the top diagnostics technician. He loves to learn and is always increasing his knowledge. He is able to teach the other technicians how to do things to the highest standard of quality and in an efficient manner. As a manager, he is always looking out for the customer’s needs. He understands that doing things right is not only best for the customer, but in the end it creates a strong relationship of trust between us and our customers. Had my next Boise Automotive experience and again these guys impress me enough to have me write another review. I had my Suburban go out on probably the coldest day of the year and I had to have it towed. I had them tow it to the guys up at Boise Automotive and I tell them what happened and they say «no problem I think it’s just this but we’ll have the guys take a look at it first thing and give you a call tomorrow». No problem for me since it’s almost 5 pm. They give me a call the next day as promise and sure enough it is what they thought and so they quote me a price for the part and repairs and ask me if it’s ok. Is it ok? It’s about half what I figure it was going to cost me! You bet it’s ok! These guys redefine honest and quick. They have the part on time and get my car done early even! I can tell you right now that I won’t take my cars anywhere else. I’ve already told ten people in the last two days how awesome these guys are. Too bad they don’t fix TV’s as my TV crapped out the next day… so much for saving money :)

We have taken all of our vehicles to Boise Automotive for years, since 1996. We trust what they tell us about our vehicles and the quality of work is exceptional. We trust them enough to send our kids to them because we know they are fair and they will make sure their cars are in good operating condition. I highly recommend them for any car care needs!

UPDATE: I was contacted by Dan the owner, not Rick I was mistaken on that. He called me that night and sincerely apologized for what had happened earlier that day. You can tell he cares a lot about his customers and business and wanted to make things right. He refunded me the money and even sent a gift card as well as apologizing again. We appreciate all of Dan’s efforts and it was a good ending to a bad situation.
I found this place it had decent reviews so I thought that I would bring my vehicle in for its scheduled maintenance. I was quoted a price for the service without one of the parts being changed and for the full service. I asked to be informed if the water pump needed to be changed so I could approve it. The next day I was called and informed that the pump needed to be changed and of the new total. I verified the price twice with the tech on the phone and approved the service. I picked up my car later that day and when I checked the bill it was almost $ 100 over what I was quoted. I left a message and wrote a polite email explaining the situation and ended up calling them back the following Monday. Almost immediately I was shouted at by the owner Rick. He accused me of trying to exploit him and his «kindness». I was accused of being cheap because I had gotten a loaner car for free (which in my initial call with them I was offered I did not ask for it), that I did not fill it up with gas (I was not told to but I did fill it up to the amount I picked it up with) and told I was a terrible person. Its a shame that they speak to their customers like this in a tense situation because I really did enjoy them at first. It is not the customers job to get the quotes right and nor is it their fault if someone gives them an incorrect quote. It is just another place that won’t take responsibility for their mistakes and seemingly desperate for money. Stay away if you don’t want to get ripped off or shouted at.

I am moving out of state in 5 days and I needed repairs done. Not only did they get me in the same day they had it done with in 3 hours. The service was completed and the price was cheaper than what I was quoted at other establishments. I was very impressed with the technology they have. I received a text when they had questions as well as when my car was done. I recommend them to anyone.

Our niece, who’s a single mom, lives in Boise, moved to a home close to your shop just about 2 years ago. Since then, the car has been put to some real challenges, getting 3 kids to different schools as well as part-​time work, shopping and the like, only to have routine service as well as
brakes, tires and the like. Yesterday we had to get the car in for a series of repairs as 2 engine
lights had come on. Within no time, Bob called me back — since my wife/​I were picking up the cost,
and told me EXACTLY what the car needed, gave me an estimate of the cost and ALL work was
completed the same day and well below the estimate… Beyond the cost and timeliness of the repairs it gives my wife & I real peace of mind knowing that the job ALWAYS gets done right!

Brought our car in here because it was stiff to turn and making all kinds of awful sounds, plus it was past due for an oil change. They called us and told us the wrong info once, and then when we told them that it didn’t make sense because they wanted to fix something unrelated to the steering, they checked again and then told me they would need to replace the rack and pinion and the steering fluid pump and it would cost $ 1,300!!! I asked why and the only answer they could give me was «they are leaking». I let then do the oil change and picked it up. I was charged $ 84 for a 15 min diagnosis, the oil change, and topping off the steering fluid… which I didn’t even ask for.
We then took it to Les at Super Tune in Meridian because a friend told us he was a good honest mechanic who knows his stuff. He looked at it and said nothing was wrong with those parts and it was probably just super low on oil and steering fluid. He did find out why our car was making the sounds and fixed it for only $ 200! I wouldn’t go to Boise Auto Whatever for anything but an oil change.?

Terrible. Just terrible. I took my car in because the check engine was on and Ricardo said it was the cats and it would cost $ 2,300 to fix! 30 seconds later he went down to $ 1,200. Is that even possible? C’mon man. Be honest. I checked online and it was 850 $ for the OEM cats. Then Rick came and said he could clean them to get the check engine to turn off. So I gave them the car and when I came to pick it up, THEY TOOK MY FOG LIGHTS! And Rick said they fell out during a test drive. REALLY? ARE YOU KIDDING ME? If they fell out you would’ve ran over them and popped the front tires. THEN HE SAID «so you’re calling me a theif» WELL IF THE SHOE FITS! Ricardo gave me $ 50 off the price which was pretty decent. Overall, TERRIBLE SERVICE. ONE STAR BUDDY.

Just wanted to say I saw the commercial for this auto shop and it made me want to check Unilocal reviews. I liked the commercial. It was not professionally produced, but that is part of what made me like it. The owner, not an actor, explains how he started the business and explains how he runs an his shop. To me, he came across as extremely honest. I don’t know why but I instantly knew this place would get great reviews on Unilocal,but had to check my own instincts.
A standard oil change for around $ 20 seems like a good deal. I need one and plan to stop in soon. I’ll adjust my rating after my visit, if need be. It isn’t easy finding a auto shop you can count on to do solid work and provide good service.
Anyways, great commercial. It got my attention Boise Automotive Service came across as a trustworthy business and staff.

Took my car here after a recommendation from a friend. Overall, I was very pleased. They gave us a quote very promptly and completed the fairly extensive work in a minimal amount of time. In addition to that they recommended not getting a repair due to the small benefit (a small dashboard light) and high cost (would have to replace a large part of the dash). In addition to the quality work, I was impressed by the fact that they were trying to look out for my wallet.

Upon moving back to Boise, my dad tipped me off to Boise Clutch and Auto as a good spot to get my oil changed. That was over two years ago and these guys have become my go to people for all of my car issues and questions.
Oil changes here start at $ 20 and unless your vehicle requires something special that is what you will be charged. That $ 20 gets you a general inspection of your vehicle and a tipping off of all of the basic fluids. I have also come to them for steering fluid changes, water pump and serpentine belt replacement and left happy every time.
The biggest compliment I can give Boise Clutch and Auto is that they are honest guys who don’t try to sell you repairs you don’t need. They are always happy to see me and I don’t feel like I am walking into a lion’s den every time I drop my car off with them.
Another cool service they offer for free is if you are looking at buying a used car, you can bring it to them and they will give you a rundown of what repairs will be needed and when. They will also give their opinion as to whether or not its a good buy. I know of two people who have taken advantage of this and were happy with their suggestions.
In closing, my whole family goes to Boise Clutch and Auto for pretty much anything automotive related and have been 100% happy with their services.
