History

Established in 2014.

In 2014, Dr Whitaker decided that he wanted to return home to the Treasure Valley but was disenfranchised by the large corporate medical atmosphere that existed here. In an effort to provide individualized care to his patients, he chose to open Idaho Joint and Spine, an independent osteopathic physiatrist medical clinic, to better serve the Treasure Valley.

Dr. James Whitaker is an Osteopathic Physician (D.O.) who has chosen to specialize in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. Dr. Whitaker is an alumni of Boise State University. While attending BSU, he completed his education to become a Certified Massage Therapist. Dr. Whitaker chose to attend A.T. Still University — Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine, the founding school of Osteopathic Medicine. While attending medical school in Missouri, Dr. Whitaker elected to spend an additional year completing a fellowship in Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine (OMM). During that year he worked in an OMM Outpatient Clinic and taught 1^st and 2^nd year medical students. After graduating from Medical School, Dr. Whitaker completed his Internship at Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield, Massachusetts. He then completed a M.D. residency at University of Missouri — Columbia, spending the last year as a Chief Resident.
