THISPLACEDISCRIMINATES!!! I went in to get a bottle of Orange Liquor for cooking, browsed a bit then went to pay for my purchase. I used my debit card and was asked to show additional ID. I asked if it was their policy to ask for ID and they assured me that it was. Their rationalization was that my debit card doesn’t have a «chip» on it. They scrutinized my driver’s license, then took my payment. After, I remained in the store, I browsed some more and watched three other customers come in. One paid cash. 2 more came in and paid with cards. I was told that one of the cards was a gift card. NOONEELSE was asked for ID. When I pointed out to the sales persons, I was not offered an apology, instead was told that the policy was NOT inconsistent, It’s just that the cashier didn’t «know» me since their policy is only to ask for ID from people who had not been in the store before. I’ve been to this store several times, but I guess it’s not possible to «know» their black patrons. I’ve lived within spitting distance of this store for over 36 years and have never been discriminated thusly on Atlantic Avenue. I welcome new businesses, but not like this. Go to a store that respect your money and their patrons. Dr. R
